Very big store and lots of selection. They also had lots of staff on but not one person came to greet me.
I was at the shoe wall and an employee literally came in front of me and started tasking. Mostly kids working here, can definitely tell they are undertrained in customer service.
My son and I were there around 1pm. The 2 men that helped us with shoes were both amazing. One guy was on the main level other guy was on 2nd floor. Both younger. I was thoroughly impressed with them both. Excellent job guys!
I bought a bag last month and although I liked the product, the staff’s customer service could’ve been improved. It took a while before someone came to assist and the staff left after handing me an item even though I still needed assistance and have questions. It wasn’t even that busy at the store at that time.
I was at wem today and this kind gentleman name Brian help me out he save me time he save me money and he save me energy on a tire tube for segway scooter ty brain
I went in to buy some running shoes and left empty handed. There were many employees standing around but when I asked to try on a shoe it took over 10 minutes each time I wanted a different size or shoe. I was there over an hour and left because I was getting frustrated at how long it took. Do your job and stop standing around chatting.
It was almost impossible to get help with buying shoes. The shoe section wasn't terribly busy either. One staff member gave me the hand. There were a lot of employees, they were all avoiding the shoe section.
I was looking for running shoes that offer a good cushion for absorbing the impact of running on pavement. I probably looked into 10 shoes and tried on 5 pairs, Seth the store attendant was not only patient with me but was enthusiastic about it. He made it a good experience, he did not show even a drop of frustration from me switching back and forth to different pairs and he was also entertaining other customers as well. Always smiling and willing to help. Great job on hiring people like that!
As for the store, this one has a wide selection plus has Atmosphere on the second floor. I was there for the running shoe but end up buying an Osprey backpack for traveling as well.
Excellent experience this time! Fellow in shoe department st Spruce Grove location spent time explaining 2 different shoes to me. That 5 min was so helpful and I learned something new.
Security tags on the thermal wear pants and top. Need to be aware of the tags before handing products to customers. Not very happy with the service. As well there comments on in store pick up. We’re very rude regarding that matter.
I made an online purchase during a spend and get event (spend $125 and get $30 in promotional credit) then made another online purchase with the promotional credit. The shoes didn't end up fitting me so I went to get them exchanged for a different size, which the store did not end up having in-stock. Instead, when I returned the shoes to purchase another pair, the promotional credit was not honoured.
Apparently in-store purchases during the spend and get event receive an in-store promotional credit. It makes no sense why it matters if it was an online vs in-store order.
The cashier did not care to explain further so I ended up leaving without getting another pair of shoes.
This location is absolutely massive. Huge selection of products. Huge shout out to Moose who helped my wife find a pair of 510 shoes for biking with. He was great to deal with and so very friendly. Keep up the great work!
I went to buy a ISUP in this store and asked to price match Sporting life price. The lady at the checkout asked her superior staff about the price match. The guy clearly told the lady to call the store (Sporting life) and confirm the availability in Calgary and do the price match. She asked me the phone number of the store and i even provided it. The lady called another manager to check about the price match again. The manager came and clearly told they don't price match it because there is no sporting life physical store in Edmonton (same city). Their policy doesn't mention about physical store should be in the same city to price match it (Product was available in Calgary store). When i asked to see the written policy the store manager didn't provide any written policy (About same city physical store to price match). When i told i have done many price matches similar to this at Sportchek. He told he had never done it in his 10 year experience and told me to go to Calgary and buy it for the same price. He was so rude and I really hate to go that store again. Worst customer service.
Note: In the next 30min i went to another Sportchek and got it priced match without any problem. Very bad experience at thIs particular Sportchek store.
This place is a huge story with multiple stories inside with a lot of inventory of various items. The store was clean but I found it hard to find any staff or any staff with any knowledge of discounts or recent advirtiese sales. After I showed them an email advertising the specific sales, by date, they told me that it didn’t apply at that store. Which was incorrect as it was for all SportChek’s and on top of that I was told that a national discount CFOne wasn’t accepted at that store but would be elsewhere. I also found that odd. It would have been better if they actually looked into my questions instead of saying no when they didn’t know and blatantly lied to me. Not impressed.
No one ever around to help you with shoes, when you finally do find a employee she says she's not working in that department, might be good to invest in Walkie-talkies to let whoever works in the shoe department know there's a line of people needing help.
This Sports Chek is huge and they have lots of sports accessories- Golf, Hockey, swimming, kayaking, football, basketball, table tennis and different sport events. They have lots of clothing, snickers, canvass and wears. The store is very neat and their customer service is excellent. Their prices are very affordable and reasonable and they have different products on sales and clearance.
Arnold was extremely helpful. Very knowledgeable on products, professional and friendly. The store was well stocked and had everything I was looking for.
Dave C was so helpful when we rushed there 7 minutes before the store was closing. My wife is recovering from a knee injury and needed a good brace. Dave hooked it up with the best one and since they didn't have her size. They shipped it to our house. Great experience with very knowledgeable staff
I just went in to exchange a brand new shoe bought for me over a week ago that didn’t fit. The person helping me at customer service was able to refund me super quickly and was very friendly! He also helped me to get another pair of shoe and we had a great chat. 10/10 service and friendliness all around! They are knowledgeable and will help you find the right gear!
Overall great selection and large store, asked 2 different employees for help finding a certain shoe and they both said they were on break and couldn’t help me.
Went to purchase a ¹North Face winter parka. First off there was no one to help me and when I finally get help my wife has already found the parka I wanted but no price tag. Sales person couldn't help so I walked out. No one actually works there. This is why Amazon is becoming the go to store.
I have never had such poor service from the employees. I went in to Sport Check on the Sunday after Black Friday to get some deals on snowboarding equipment. When I asked someone for help the first girl didn't even make eye contact with me just radioed to another worker and continued putting things on the shelf. The guy that went to help me was so rude just kept giving me one word answers and looking away when I was trying to ask him questions about the equipment. He took the board and bindings I was going to buy to the service shop to get them installed and when I returned to get them stated he didn't know where the service guy was so he couldn't give me a time in which the equipment would be ready. No apology just "i dunno" and then when I asked if I would get a call when it was ready he rudely stated "ya" as if it was such a dumb question. I was so frustrated how rude he was the ENTIRE time serving me I ended up just leaving and not buying the snowboard, bindings or other gear. I will never return to this Sport Check as this is not the first time I have received service like this at this location.
I placed an order online for a kids snowboard, after placing the order while waiting for the order confirmation, I decided to call the store to make sure they did have it. When I called, a guy told me no one in Edmonton has the snowboard I am looking for and that I will get a notification for cancelation of order soon. Then I got a email notification saying order was ready for pick up after I found one at another location. I called the WEM location, took them 20 minutes to find the order and when I asked if I can cancel it, they told me to wait 7 business days or go in physically to the store and they can process it right away. I drove to the store only to find out they processed the refund already after we spoke and did not tell me so wasted my time. The store is super unhelpful, employees lack knows of their inventory or just too lazy to check inventory before providing answers. Will not go to this location ever again. Highly not recommended if you want something specific.
My friend purchased a yonex power cushion eclipson x mens court shoes from the west edmonton mall sport check and they did the price match for him from the website. I went there 4 days later to purchase the same shoes and to do a price match but they wont give it to me. When I spoke with the manager (a guy with grey hair) he just told me your friend just got lucky. I even showed them my friend’s receipt even they told me they werent supposed to do it like that. Its so rude to violate the rules on one day and say you follow the rules other day. Its not a polite way to show different attitudes to different customers. I wont reccomend this store to anyone. Really poor service.
Alvin and Diane went above and beyond to help me with the exchange of a defective product. During my move I had misplaced the receipt for my water reservoir. They scanned a year back on all 3 of my credit cards and ran them through the database of 3 different stores. We were unable to find anything but Alvin still helped out as he could see the product was purchased at Sportchek. This is the kind of customer service that a department store needs to help combat the amazons of the world. Thank you so much
Thank you to both Alvin the manager and Diane or Dianna!? For both helping get my day off to a great start!
I like this store in WEM. Staff is really friendly and provided good service. I do not see any parking slots for curbside pickup. May be these guys has to plan that especially during this pandemic time.
Staff are very unfriendly and unhelpful at this location. They have also completely filled the store forcing individuals to be in close contact with eachother. They have no care for Covid restrictions or customer service. I had to wait for 20 minutes as the staff chatted about their weekend plans or texted their friends. If you want something from here, go elsewhere!
Brian in the ski section was very helpful while my family and I were browsing for ski gears in the ski section. He is extremely knowledgeable and explained everything we needed to know while shopping for ski and snowboard gears. We are going to purchase all of our gears from this sportschek for ski and snowboard.
It really is a great well stocked store with lots of options. That said, the customer service is really quite terrible, lacking any interest in helping any customers, not just myself - instead chatting amongst themselves about scheduling and days off and plans. Some knowledgeable people working but in very short supply. And when I asked to speak to a manager, the staff member seemed completely unsure of who that was or where to find them? If you like Sport Chek/Atmosphere, make the drive to South Common location. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and actively interested in helping you if possible.
Store manager has no respect. The workers in the store have no interest in helping you will do everything to avoid you. They do not honour military discount and if you inquire they say we have no obligation to honour the military. Except for a couple days a year. Although we were there four days ago and they gave us a discount guess it's only when they are feeling patriotic. Literally the worst customer service I have seen will never return to this store and I feel there is no respect for military.
This Sport Chek is really good. I can always find anything I need (sports related). There wasn't much staff around to help (this would be my only complaint, if any). But I was able to find things pretty decently on my own. The selection at this location is a lot better than a lot of the other ones around the city. There are also some good sales on some items as well. Worth a look.
The colors of the items weren't described very accurately on the website. The quality of the items were good though and the Curbside service was great!
Went in for cross country skis. Found someone able to help with my questions, unfortunately everything was sold except one junior pair. Oh well, found a few other items with nice Black Friday pricing.
The staff do not know much about the products. Asked about the warmest jackets and she had no clue but was just beating around the bush. Plus the staff was removing the mask and coming closer to talk to me. I asked her to keep distance politely but still was coming closer.
Every single time I've come here, the service has always been tip top. They also have a really robust inventory. Can't really ask for much more when it comes to shopping for non-used active wear.
There price match is a joke. The rep replied they can only price match sportcheck.ca and not competitors. What a joke huh! I only faced that at this location particularly. Please train your staff properly.
So my sister went to Sport Chek last night (Nov. 11) and the greeter working at 5: 40pm absolutely humiliated her. He accused my sister of not paying for her own purse and said she needs to pay for it. When she said "this is my purse", he said "you didn't have that when you came in. " Yes, she did. After he realized that it was her own purse, he didn't even apologize for embarrassing her. Sport Chek greeter - Sport Chek doesn't even sell purses. Sport chek really needs to train their employees to not humiliate customers and accuse them of stealing without finding out the facts first.
Definitely not going back to this locations, staff is useless anyway. You see them walking around, they get past you doesn't even bother saying Hi or if I needed help, we even made eye contact, and nothing. I didn't drive there for freaking 5 hours just to get ignored.
Very hectic with many staff members not wearing masks although it is mandatory. The online pick-up was a joke as no one was picking up the phone, so I go in and wait at the counter that says "in-store" pick-up. No one is there either, so I walk up to three different associates and explain that I am wanting to pick-up my online purchase but not one of them knew how I would go about doing that. I called the phone number a few more times and see that it is ringing beside the single staff member at the parking lot entrance, but they are too swamped to answer it. I waited in the line-up and then the cashier was able to grab it for me. All in all, it was extremely disorganized and the in-store pick up service is a very big waste of time.
I am not sure how loudly one has to declare they need to be fitted for some shoes before an employee even acknowledges them as there. The staff member working in the area literally went around me without even saying hello to grab another product and never once asked me if I needed anything or that she would be right there. Lost a sale on probably a really expensive shoe because no one was there to help.very disappointed considering this is one of the larger stores in the city
Shoutout to Tina who completed my online order return in 2 minutes total. I went in thinking this would be an absolute headache, but she made the whole process super easy and fast!
The Staff here are lazy. They don't want to look for /check the computer system to see if shoes/clothing is in stock. They just say it's not out yet and then follow up with blaming covid-19 for issues. It's an endless excuse mill.
Id recommend shopping online/checking out other websites. I personally don't care anymore if sportchek is around or not.
Drove 2 hours to buy a pair of shoes from this store as they showed them in stock online. Drove there finally got an associates attention for size, he “ could not find them” I asked for managements assistance and he was of absolute no help whatsoever. I wasted 60$ in gas and my whole day to try and give you my money but your too ignorant and lazy to even take it? Please have an actual manager contact me about the worst service I’ve ever received and the 60$ I wasted. Oh wait you don’t have any customer service hahahahaha!
Bought a GT Bike. The Bike it self is good, however the west edmonton mall sports check store bike department did not completely assembled the bike; so on the 4 th day of purchase one of the paddle came out suddenly when i was on it, luckly i didn't get injured But bike, s paddle cameout and chain was out of wheel when i was 5 km away from home. I had to call home to get car and dump the bike in car dropped it to Southcommon sports check where they fitted the paddle and second day i got weired noise coming out of wheel so had to again put bike in to my car and drop again to south common sports check edmonton. Now when i got bike back, i noticed small dent on my bike on next day.
Very rough days due to assembling issue, didn't expected this.
I had to purchase a new winter coat. Jill helped me out by educating me in how the ratings worked and what to look for. She also considered my asthma allergies and helped me find an option that was safe! It turned a stressful experience into a great one.
I work in the mall and use the washroom in this store a lot. The nice cashier told me that he noticed I was using the upstairs washroom a lot and that there was also one downstairs. Now we’re engaged.
Had to go in and exchange a pair of shoes (that didn't fit) purchased by a family member for my birthday. The online inventory said they had my style and size in stock at WEM, but only there. So we drove across the city to exchange and after looking through all of the shoes, they had a similar line but not the exact same pair. So I ended up paying the difference of $40 to get replacement shoes. Clearly not only do they NOT ensure the online inventory is accurate, but they don't actually HAVE the style of shoes in stock to begin with. I could have gone to a much closer SC for that.
J'ai donc préféré me faire rembourser.
