Sport Chek

Came in here for a backpack for my daughter and found a very good variety. Friendly staff and prompt service. We also came in February to find ski gloves, but they had none. It was out of season, so I understand that. Not the store’s fault.

Wonderful customer service, and a huge thanks to Kanwar. Very respectful and enthusiastic; helped me around the store and prepare for the upcoming soccer season. Made me feel comfortable as it was my first time shopping for soccer gear, and would definitely come back when next season starts. Highly recommend to athletes who want to do the best in their sports career.

My Fiancé dropped off his new board for its first service wax and sharpen, we were told it would be ready once we got an email so we awaited the email.we went in yesterday 02-06-23 to pick up our children some snowsuits for next year as they were on sale and grab my fiancés board, I stood back with my kids as he went to the service desk. I finally went over and noticed that he seems quite upset I asked what happened and he explained that they destroyed his board. I asked what they were going to do and he said they explained that the tech isn't back in till Sunday. I proceeded to go over to the counter and ask to see the board and speak to a manager to see if we could figure something out. When I saw the board I was shocked, to say the least. I'm not even sure how it would of happen but they took both edges off the snowboard on both sides of the board to the point the wood was exposed.they also put gashes in the sides of the board where they just continued to file it down and the whole top of the board was scratched, the board was unusable.

We were able to get a refund for the board which is fine, except for the fact my Fiancé can't even get the same board or a replacement in a different brand because there is none in stock.

The best part is that when he went to get his board before even showing him the board they tried to get him to sign off on paperwork a waiver for damages and issues with the board.

That is when he knew something wasn't correct because we have never had that before.

Unfortunately, we will not be bringing any of our equipment there to get serviced again. Money back doesn't always mean that your items will get replaced without having to either wait a whole season or settle from something less or even more which is not always something you can do is pay more out of pocket when it's not expected.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Stephanie. She was incredibly compassionate and understanding of my situation regarding an exchange. She worked with customer service to ensure I was able to leave with the right product in the right size. That extra mile of her exceptional customer service really made my day.

Took my skates to get sharpened and my first skate it was clear something was wrong. Went back to the store and they apparently were sharpened by the machine and not by hand. If the machine is used going forward at this store, I’ll have to find another place to sharpen. Thanks to Caleb fixing them.

Very bad customer service. We went today thinking we will get some Black Friday deals and we understand some deals already end on Friday. The sticker was still on Men’s parka on two sections and we were trying on some. An employee just greeted us and without our knowledge when we turned back she too the stickers off from those sections without even informing the customers that the deal is no more. Felt insulted for trying those winter jackets.

Store is reasonably clean, just enough staff that you're not looking for someone when you need help. The selection of XL and 2XL t-shirts was non-existent for some reason, but other than that no complaints. Pretty good selection of Oilers fan stuff.

I’ve been a long time sport chek shopper. As an athlete, it’s important that I have a selection of durable sporting goods. I assumed I was making an informed decision purchasing Nike FreeRun 5.0 shoes as I do speed training biweekly. After reading several reviews, they seemed like a good option, but unfortunately when I was speed training, part of the sole ripped off (had only had them for 25 days). Assuming I would be refunded or receive an exchange for these $130 shoes after a clear defect in the product, I arrived in store and explained my situation. An employee contacted a manager for assistance (this manager couldn’t even say this to my face, they had the employee return to break the news) only to inform me that because I had been using my running shoes on a track (scona track, a track DESIGNED for running on) I was not using them for their intended purpose and I am ineligible for any compensation.
This manager obviously has never been on a run in their life, has no athletic knowledge and should not be employed by a sporting goods organization, or has the IQ of a frozen, brown banana, but if your reading this I assume you’re aware that running shoes are made for running. And unless I’m missing something, a rubber composite track is actually less harmful to shoes than concrete or other harder surfaces.

I was absolutely blown away by this response and the fact that someone could argue that using RUNNING shoes to RUN would be against their “intended purpose. ” I will not be returning to this store so I can ensure, in no way, I support upper management.

The funny part is, I went to a different store after with the same story and they gave me a refund.

To the manager - you suck.

To anyone reading this review - avoid any customer service related requests here, and tbh avoid the store because their selection sucks. Just drive the extra 10 mins and go to south common.

Raman was super sweet and helpful. She almost convinced my wife to get another credit card too lol give the girl a raise!

I went to the store to buy some winter socks and a guy helped me to find out some. And I proceeded to billing, then I realized it was on sale then I talked to the cashier about that, I need more of these. She let me to get more, but another person from the store that seems she doesn't want to sell these to me. She was kinda angry to get those again. And I was really disappointed. I usually buy stuff from this shop. Now I have to think again about this shop.

Absolutely fantastic service. Every staff member I talked to was very friendly and professional. I needed my snowboard waxed quickly, and Caleb at the service shop got me in and out of the store within 20 minutes. The wax job was great as well. Thank you Caleb B!

It was really well stocked for the upcoming cold season. The staff was helpful as well. I always appreciate when someone asks me if i need help finding something vs tracking someone down.

Manager is awesome, polite guy, all staff are very hardworkers & kind, I did purchased lot’s of stuff from this store.

Bought a electric bicycle from the sportchek website, which unfortunately had developed some issues a few months after ownership. Getting an e-bike serviced at sportschek stores in Edmonton still somewhat difficult as it is a relatively new technology for a lot of their technicians. Fully credit to Alex and his bicycle service team at Sportschek Tamarack for working with the manufacturer to successfully repair my e-bike.

The staff is always so friendly here. From the phone to in-store. Every time. They're helpful and happy. They have a good selection as well especially for a smaller store. I enjoy this location.

Went here to get skates for the whole family. No Ladies skates, no toddler learn to skates, so I took off empty handed to give my $400 budget to someone else. Staff member did tell me where I could spend my money though. I mean.skates? Canada? December? Eh?

Great store. Super clean and shelves organized nicely. I was greeted warmly when I walked in and delay with 3 different staff members in 3 different departments, all of whom were eager to help, knowledgeable and friendly. Great experience

The place is great for all sports equipment and if they dont have it they will order it for you and it's free shipping as well and the customer service is even better their just so nice to everyone there

Very nice store to shop at workers are always asking if you need help with anything and if you cant find something in the store they will look in the back to see if they have it without being slow and are always quick to help

This is a great location with friendly staff. I had an online ordering error and they fixed it right away.

Had a great experience with the bike shop staff (especially the employee named Parker) Was polite, knowledgeable, funny and helpful. The sportchek is a smaller sized sportchek, and the bike selection is limited (which is to be expected from the current covid situation and the surge in bike sales), but great experience overrall

Pretty terrible customer service. Called about getting my board waxed 3 hours prior to them being closed and was told they couldn’t preform the 25 minute task before then. Called the Sport Chek in south common and they got me in right away and had my board waxed and ready to go in under an hour

Terrible customer service. There were only two of us in line, me and the lady in front who was having some sort of issue resolved. One of the 2 cashiers proceeds to go on break. When my turn arrives Nigel the cashier advises me that my hairline is sweaty, then adds a donation to my purchase when I clearly said No I don't want to donate.

Employees are more concerned with breaks and cannot process simple transactions. Based on previous reviews it appears incompetence is common at this location with no signs of changing.

Easily the worst customer service I've ever seen at a sport check.

Usually only have 1 till open. Staff doesn't seem to handle multitasking well when it comes to returns while trying to ring in new customers.

Expect a long wait in line for something very simple.

More training and customer care needed here.

The Tamarack store has landed itself in a convenient location since it’s amongst some of the fastest growing communities on the southside. It’s certainly not one of the biggest Sportchek’s but it has all of the standard issue merch for your sports and leisure.

The only observation I will make based on several visits to the store is how often I try to use the service centre and it is rarely manned. Whether there’s not enough staff on the floor or someone is away for lunch or it only operates during certain hours; there was no indication at the counter whether I should expect someone to be there or not. I have often been there to either drop off for service or pick up equipment that has been serviced only to be told there’s no one available or have no one show up at all.
I can completely understand that they can’t have someone at the service desk for all open hours but a suggestion might be to have hours of operation posted or at the very least a sign on the desk when it is unmanned directing customers to go back to the front.

Overall it serves the purpose but doesn’t provide anything exceptional.

This location has such a limited selection of women's clothing and shoes and it isn't worth even visiting - drive an extra 10 minutes and go to Sport Chek in Emerald Hills (Sherwood Park).

Pretty much always out of stock for most sizes. Only shop here if you are XL or XXL. Find a staff member to get into the change rooms? Best of luck!

This is a smaller location with limited selection you are better of visiting South Edmonton Common Sport Check location. Staff is very courteous but looks like they are short staffed.

Never ever go here. The staff is so confusing and they were laughing out loud while you are making purchase. Their scannners show wrong prices too. First you call they tell you a price and an item. When you go there, they say they don't have it. Later they show you something else and then tell you different price 3 times. What a horrible service. Especially the 2 girls at the counter who are doing their shift at 6: 00 pm on May 1st 2019. I hope the company looks at this review and understands how poorly the customers sre treated here.

Abosolute joke of a store. No stock of anything. Everything they do have is dramatically over priced. The store is dirty and the staff seem more interested in socializing with eachother than helping customers out. Garbage.
