Great place for music supplies, anything you need for so many different instruments. The helpful staff found me the piano book I was looking for very quickly.
We bought a Yamaha CLP 775 piano. The sales lady was very nice and knowledgeable. Had fun Playing and learning about different pianos. She helped us narrow down our choice. Really nice helpful staff. Big investment but from a good place. We will be back for other things soon.
Top notch and knowledgeable service given by Mike Wilkinson today is a pure example of what customer service should be. No pressure, honest and straightforward answers. Although it was a minor purchase (Yamaha p515), Mike treated my wife and i as if we were buying the store. Good job Mike! Cheers!
I came into the store as a visitor from another country after I visited a few Long and McQuade stores- after speaking to some people there, I was told St. John’s had a monopoly on Yamaha band instruments. As a Yamaha player, I decided to check it out. The store is fine, there’s plenty of method books (other than the RCM books for specific instruments), but for being the only store with Yamaha band instruments, that had almost none either on display or in stock. It seems like they know if you need a Yamaha horn you have to order through them, so why keep a stock?
I’ve been involved in the music business industry before, and understand there are some instruments that can take months if not years to come in. However, walking into that band room and seeing that there weren’t even displays for every band instrument rubbed me the wrong way. The employees were nice enough and tried to answer my questions, but ultimately I found everything I needed at Long and McQuade… sans the Yamaha instruments that I didn’t find anywhere.
We are very glad we decided to visit this St John's location. Bill helped us and was a wealth of knowledge. He helped us choose the right drum set with his unbiased opinion and immense experience. We didn't feel rushed or pressured at any time during our visits. We highly recommend Bill and St. John's music.
They want to look like they're closed. Even on big sales events, they always look closed when you pass by or even when you pull into their parking lot, I always wonder if they're even open. Never any competitive sales.
