On November 17th, I went to the Staples store across from Chinook Centre in Calgary and purchased three items: an adjustable table for $682, a HP laptop for $450 and a window software package for $130. I took the laptop and the software package home and did not open them. (The table was to be delivered to me). When I checked my email that night, I accidentally found out that the HP laptop I purchased only had a two-star rating. I went back to Staples the next day trying to return the laptop and the software package. The clerk refunded me for the laptop but said he could not refund the software package and got the sales manager to the counter. The sales manager told me the software package was final sale. I said nobody ever told me that. He said it was a software, everybody knew they were always final sale. I said I did not know. He said the information was printed on the back of the receipt. But one doesn’t get the receipt before making a purchase, right? By the time he/she paid for the item, it would be too late. I argued that when there’s a final sale, they should put a sign beside the item showing that. Also, the salesperson and the store clerks should tell the customer BEFORE she paid for the item, not to expect the customer to read the fine print on the back of the receipt afterward. I showed him I didn’t break the seal on the back of the software card. It was the proof that I did not use it. He said the software package was already activated. I asked him who did that since I didn’t. He didn’t answer me. I figured it was activated when I made the purchase. I asked him to deactivate it. Eventually, the sales manager said he would refund me but I was no longer allowed to go to that location.
I received an email survey from Staple head office shortly after. I told them the story. I received a reply, saying that they could not find the evidence of my purchase even though I emailed the receipt to them. The person also said that software packages are not refundable once opened. I told her clearly in my first e-mail that I had never opened that package. After I told her for a second time, she asked me to contact the local store to resolve my problem. It was totally useless to complain to their head office.
So, when their staff member didn’t do their job properly, the customer is punished. As a long-term customer to Staples, especially to that location because it is the nearest one to my house, I am officially banned from the store.
Large selection of office and household items. Nice store, but the security workers can be kind of intense sometimes. I don't necessarily blame them as the location tends to attract shoplifters, but it feels like a bit too much when you're just trying to browse.
**Super important** The only way to buy an unlocked phone at any staples is to purchase it online and pick up in store. Otherwise at the store they'll lie and say they have none in stock. Fyi you can use debit credit cards to buy it on the website. You're welcome.
I have come to this location numerous times and I would give it four stars for the print team especially tonight. Thank you for helping me out. However the security guards and people at till are rude and annoying always looking at the wrong person thinking they have power I have never felt so uncomfortable.right now I got told by the cashier who helped me with a gift card sale to pretty much shut up because he can't think I wanted to call a manager talk to them directly about this but he seems like he has issues and has been rude to me on numerous occasions. I wanted to spend more money but no thanks. I will take my business to another location where I get treated better. 0062 07/0423
Went to buy a scanner to upload to email, pretty simple. They one I was looking at said it upload to cloud and email, the employee said the tag might say it does email it doesn't, you need to buy the one at 3x the price (he wanted me to go from 129$ to almost 500$) even though every product they own said it send to email. Either they mislabeled items to encourage a customer to buy it, or that specific employee lied to me and tried to sell me something overpriced for what I needed. Either way it's very unethical to lie to customers verbally or on a label. I believe the term is false advertising
Had to make photo copies, the have alot of up to date equipment. Just buy a preloaded card and the machine takes payment off card. Big store, staff is very helpful
I like this Chinook location Staples and staffs. They are all friendly and kind. I had pleasant experiences and love to visit often.
Especially thanks to Allen made my thick RCM piano and voice books easy to flip and last long with plastic coils. Very thoughtful and professional works! I had heard good reputation from one of other piano teachers with him at this location before! So I tried! The reputation is true.
I will bring my other books to be done with Allen.
Great service. Purchased a tech support package for $20/month, and they have had my lap tops for two weeks, re-installing the bios and O. S. I crashed them by deleting the boot options in Windows 11 accidently, and had been unable to re install the required programming. It appears I'm not alone in that inability.
Great staff and has pretty much everything u need from crayons to office supplies, cleaning products coffee and ability to send faxes. I'm in here quite a bit
Just go somewhere else. This location is barely able to operate as a general business. We printed a very small display for a celebration of life + had to fight with the printing centre to get a huge line down the middle of the art removed that was supposedly “just the way the laminating machine works”. This was clearly untrue as they did reprint it (after going in 3 times) without the line.
As we went to go pick it up + purchase some office supplies for our business, they had technology product cards on the shelf that were sold out (and the employees clearly knew it was sold out as we approached the counter) and said they were “unable to put out sold out stickers” … odd for an office supplies store.
If your looking to get something printed or need supplies go to another location or try VistaPrint. Staff is apathetic and management is incompetent.
Came in for paper shredding for personal & business sensitive documents. The staff are so friendly & helpful, shredding my paperwork while I shopped around for business supplies. Plenty of floor staff available, asking if I needed any help finding anything. Great location & quick friendly service!
We bought an office chair here, pretty nice one too. The chair lasted 1.5 years until it broke. Both the arms broke so the chair was unusable. This chair comes with 7 year warrenty! Great I thought, I brought it to this location and they wanted me to hold on to the broken chair and wait 2 to 3 weeks for parts to come in. I did not think that was right as I would be without a chair. So I agreed at first with them. Then I brought the broken chair to another location, this location was able to refund the full amount for the chair and allowed me to buy a brand new one that same day! The other location was much better! I don't recommend bringing stuff back here for warrenty purposes!
Recently required the services of the Printing and Marketing department and I must say the service was top notch. Alan was professional. Personable. Knowledgeable. The printing we had completed was accurate and back to us in a very timely manner. Each of the team members I spoke with over the phone, and in person, were simply great. I would highly recommend Alan for all your printing and copying needs.
Usually stop here to drop packages or pickup something that's needed for my home office. The lineup for the courier counter, has started getting longer as more people return to work. Would be nice if there was a drop bin, or something for those needing to just drop and go!
Experience at Printing Centre was great. Majority of printing I did on my own - copier/printer easy to use - faster than having to leave for printing and return. I did have additional printing requirements that I was not able to do on my own. My 5 start rating is because of the superior customer service I received from Staples employee Kayde who was excellent and very knowledgeable. Thanks Kayde for making my experience at Staples so positive and very easy. Kayde's expertise and time with the different printing requirements I had in the end produced excellent finished products.
The staff there seem to be more knowledgeable than in the past. I get some of my office supplies from here but if you need toner for laser printers I use laser toner and supplies a lot cheaper and better person personalized service.
So frustrating picking up pre-paid printing orders here. They'll have 4 cashier staff doing nothing but 1 person in printing with 4 people waiting. If you're in a hurry, try another print shop.
I didn’t expect to interact with a human, I just went to print some photos. But I wound up needing to and had a really great experience thanks to the lovely girl at the print shop. What a friendly, helpful person.
Alan and Nicole are awesome associates, they are both immensely helpful and knowledgeable. They are always pleasant to interact with and they make this staples location my favourite one. Kudos to both of them
Asked if they can make a booklet of prints out, the clerk said very busy "takes one business day, you need to pick it up the next day" for 5 min job. I am just laughing is this a joke?
Huge Staples. It was my first time in this location. I loved it here. Spent almost an hour just looking around. The cashier helped me greatly! She informed me about my company's account and the info involved with that. Thank you! I will visit here again!
*This review is particularly in regards to the print shop* Very helpful staff! Kind and considerate is an understatement. I needed something printed same day and was able to walk in and have my project professionally printed WITHIN THE HOUR. The service was incredible, the staffer worked with me to make sure I got what I wanted/needed, and even more importantly, delivered a quality product that was beyond what I expect. (Thank you Lauren!) Top Notch
The lady at the print and copy section was so sweet. She answered my phone call the day of and helped me when I came in, she was very knowledgable and helpful! I will drive far to come and get all my printing done in this location.
Thanks Ali for your help as I mentioned to you. Dav at the other Staples on 32Ave didn't even look up to see if a Staples store in Calgary had the printer I wanted.in fact, he tried selling me a different printer altogether. When I gave in and desperate, I had quite a laugh. Only to Dav's surprise, he didn't have that one either. LOL! Not a good salesman.
Used Staples for online printing. It was good. The order process was streamlines and logical. I went in during the pandemic and picked up the docs. Was in and out. Good stuff!
Staples is usually spot on with me when I go there to shop for my personal or business needs. Was somewhat dispappointed, with my last experience at this location. I recently purchased a laptop from the sales manager, that went well. The tech support, although they did a good job in getting my new laptop serviced and loaded with what I required, the porting of my old files from my old laptop to my new laptop.not so good. It was not till I got home and went thru the files that I found the problems.it has taken me a while to fix the issues. So when you pay for something like that expecting it to be done for you, and it comes up short.a little disappoint in the sales and after sales support.other than that the laptop runs like a charm for all that I do with it.and would still go back and buy a new laptop from Staples. The only thing different, would be managing the file transfer process differently, so I would not have the same issues.that I encountered post sales.
I understand Covid affecting jobs and the economy, but it seems that even before Quarantine this place never had enough help in the printer/computer area. I've spent up to an hour trying to print and fax. The instructions that they put up are vague and confusing. However, the people there are helpful and nice when they are available.
During these pandemic times, its hard to place an order online for pick up on their website. Tried to chat with customer service, no luck. So i tried calling the store branch. In just a second Connor fixed the problem and I got my item the next day. Great service
My boyfriend went and picked up a curbside order and was not impressed with their cautions around covid. The person who came out was not wearing gloves or a mask, insisted on holding his photo ID and handing the item's in person. We both have compromised immune systems and at risk which is the reason why we ordered curbside. They did not offer paper delivery either so it was our only option. Please staples, take Covid-19 seriously. You don't understand the seriousness of this for us weakened folks. Mask and gloves should be provided for staff and mandatory. Also a better system on dropping off and picking up items.
I was there one night and the lady at the front door said they are limiting only 10 people in the store. I only waited a few minutes and while I did I asked her where to look to find what I was needing. I was thankful for this efficient tip. Then, I remembered something else I wanted to buy. I asked a clerk at the front. He told me what aisle it was in. He gestured for me to lead instead of passing in front of me. I was impressed that he kept a safe distance. There is a table in front of the cashier which blocks people from getting to close. Another brilliant idea! Love that they are safe and courteous!
Brown haired taller man at print desk at 3pm on Feb 7th 2020 (today) was very quick to cut into shape and laminate my 2 cards for only $2.99, in less than 5minutes. Great service
The travellers virus is scaring all business's such as staples.now they are condensing all our shopping to just 5 hours and cram many people into one store. But not staples, their only allowing a few people into their stored and running a one person in and one out .
