Terrible service, we were waiting for 5 hours, the child had a temperature of 39 and they did not treat him, there were more children, the EDTA hospital was full, none of them were treated, they all left, but no one was treated, they cried, they vomited and they were not treated. There was a girl who had been there for 8 hours.waiting and they didn't help her and she went home, terrible service, instead of doing something they just say that she has to wait and the nurses don't even do anything, they just sit there.

I was surprised with waiting time 10 months baby who is struggling with croup cough, fever and hard to breathe and can you believe that more than 8 hours still waiting for to get in. It was disappointed us Where the Edmonton Healthcare system going on for future. Welcome to stollery Children hospital, Parents please bring your eating stuff for kids and yours long wait.

The staff is not very knowledgeable. My son was there turning blue and they could not figure out why so they sent us home.

The hospital for the children's side is 5 stars!

Don't go to the adult emergency there! It was my first time going last night. I dont care about waiting.like everyone else.but they put me into a room that looks like a dental office for hours. The nurse didn't even want to check me.he said he had paperwork to fill out and he will be right there.okay cool.over 1 hour later he finally checked me. I asked for a social worker.they never provided one for me. I go to the bathrooms and someome put poop on toilet paper and had it hanging out of the garbage.this is the ADULTS side! Royal Alex is good for adults, Stollery is good for children.there is no in-between. The staff are not caring for the adults at the stollery.

I went to the stollery originaly because of how Profesional they were when I took my kids because they were amazing! My mistake to think the adults side was just as good
Hope this helps!

My 2month oldbaby was in pain and we had to rush to the emergency room, but it seems like they don't understand the meaning of 'emergency. ' Even though we came because of a car accident and my baby was showing symptoms, the nurse said a 4-hour wait is standard. I can't comprehend that standard. I just hope every child is safe. They should take action for the child, even if it's just a precaution. After waiting for 5 hours, when we said we were going somewhere else, the nurse just said, 'Ok sure. ' If it had been a truly urgent situation, I can't even imagine. I will never go there again. "

Today we encountered the Canadian ambulance for the first time. The whole process took 4 hours. Everyone is friendly. The doctor who treated us was very kind, polite and patient. The nurses are friendly. Our family is very grateful to the staff at this hospital.
13 August 2023 20:51
Tried taking my newborn there with serious symptoms and we waited over 6 hrs. The nurses don't listen or take your babies health seriously. Its poorly managed and run. We are at a different hospital and they have already called us in to see a doctor. Less than a 30 minute wait.
04 July 2023 11:54
Did not take stroke symptoms seriously. Told my daughter she walked down the hall (with support) so she must be fine. Our concerns were dismissed.
25 June 2023 9:21
My daughter born injured was brought here to see the pediatric orthopaedic specialist for hip and knee correction/surgeries, with endless efforts, supports and even him seeking second opinions ect prior to treatment Dr. Louis B.has been outstanding with our daughter! We are so thankful for him and his team in day surgery as well as in orthopaedics and mri! Everyone is so great with her!

This is a childrens hospital as it says on the big sign outside. Had all types of people entering. Kids that cant explain their pain should be first. Get it right. Waited for over 4 hours and still waiting. Quit asking for donations if you dont know where to use it.
16 May 2023 11:10
Possibly the worst managed establishment. Not just crazy wait times but the way things are managed. Simple e.g: imagine being there with very sick kid and have to wait for minimum 5 hrs and when your child is hungry you can’t access cafeteria from inside you have to go out in cold with sick kid (you can’t leave her in waiting area because only one parent is allowed at property) meanwhile if they call your name you have to wait another 5 hrs no Matter how sick is your kid as far as the nurse think they are not……. The staff is hit and miss some are very good who try their best. Others I guess just have given up.

I understand that as an emergency room, you are busy and will be taking the most important cases first, but when you call the 811 line to decrease the patient load by having early triage and they tell you to call am ambulance and the ambulance drops you off and you sit in the waiting room for NINE HOURS, without being seen, it says a lot about the lack of communication between 811, and the hospital.

Do better stollery, as part of the U of A you should be setting an example for other how other hospitals should run. Instead, you pale in comparison and are so far the absolute worst hospital I've been to. This includes the ignorant nursing staff, I am on the edge of my seat to yet be able to meet a doctor here. Due to what I've seen here I think they will just further waste my time.

If I had gone to the hospital closer to home chances are high that I would have been in and out in no time.

Moral of the story, don't come here, you'll get better care elsewhere.

This review has to do with the new owners taking over the cafeteria in the main part of the stollery. The food is much more expensive. My daughter ordered a grilled cheese 9$, my husband had chicken fingers 7$, and I had a poutine which was 9$. The chicken fingers were soggy, the fries were soggy and the cheese on top was just cheese slices ripped up. To say it was gross and un appetizing was an understatement. I have been going to this hospital every day for the past 3 1/2 months and the d was much tastier and affordable. The staff was much more friendly as well.i give this place a negative 0 out of 100. Do not eat. Warning. April 7 2023

If any one giving more than a star (there is no option to give less than one) they either doesn’t know anything about what is emergency department is, or they never ever see any other emergency department anywhere in the world other than canada. It is a disaster, mismanagement, irresponsibility and etc etc.nothing will impress you other than free unlimited WIFI.not only waiting, you may think it’s because of short staff. But even after enough staff I am pretty sure you will not get happy because it’s full of junk. Canadians next time when you go for vacation to Mexico or Cuba make a visit at least a emergency over there

Looks like adults hospital patients in hospital, it's children hospital very bad and can't believe driving long way to get check my son
15 November 2022 13:05
Very disappointed, brought my son to emergency as he vomits blood 2 times. There were only 7 kids by the time we arrived including my son, 3 hours passed and all the those 6 kids were gone and lots of new patients has been seen but we're still waiting, I asked them how long should we wait and said that they don't know. We left the hospital without being seen by the doctor. Wasted 4 hours of wait for nothing.
03 November 2022 22:28
Staff are friendly. BUT! Wait times are through the roof everyday. 7+ hours waiting to be seen. This is unheard of in every other major city in Canada. The stollery can not keep up with the inflow of Edmonton. The city NEEDS to fund an extension as PRIORITY. Im seeing so many families told to go home or left questioning whether they should. Dehydration running high as the vending machines are broken and or EMPTY! In both the stollery and adult in take. Overflow waiting in the hallway and missing names being called because you can't hear them over kids crying. It's sad and heart breaking for such a big and up and coming growing city.

Today's experience with the personnel of this facility makes me wanna give them 10 star review but only 5 is available. So my wife took our younger daughter to emergency room and wife said they were so kind and nice to both of them. I appreciate that so much. Besides of being kind and nice to them they were very knowledgeable. Thank you all emergency services workers who do their job that good as they shoud. Many thanks and God bless you all.

May they need more doctors n hospital for emergency patients they don't pay attention instead of understanding the condition of children their waiting period is too long.babies crying get more frustrated of due their negligence those baby who r sick ND sleep get distracted, awake up.because of long waiting hours poor poor poor poor health care service.atleast for little kids that should known how to handle babies I feel really disappointed when I reached in this hospital no cleanliness even floors r not mopped dust everywherr

We had to rush to the Stollery Children's Hospital with our newborn son from Red Deer due to some complications. The staff, doctors, and nurses are so compassionate and it's easy to tell how much they care for all the children in the NICU. We couldn't be happier with our time we spent here. They also ensured we are okay and constantly checked on us and updated us to ensure we have everything we need while remaining totally focused on our son. Every shift change a large group comes in and discusses the plans for the day and fills you with confidence that these people truly are the best ones to be looking after your child.
29 September 2022 10:31
The staff here are amazing and know how to calm families in stressful times. Hopefully you don’t have to worry about your kids being sick but if you are going anywhere this is the best place to be! Can’t recommend the Stollery enough!
23 September 2022 7:56
Lots of people working but they still make people wait over 6 hours in an EMERGENCY ROOM. They don’t care about your emergency your better off finding help elsewhere. I don’t even know what the women at the desk get paid for I watched them talk amongst themselves about their personal lives and have the audacity to refuse service to people because they interrupt there conversation to complain about the wait time. It’s honestly a joke. I had a blood clot in my leg causing me to not able to walk snd they still made me wait over 6 hours. Pathetic excuse these people and they are supposed to take care of us?
04 August 2022 5:43
I could not be so disappointed and hurt as a parent. I came to the emergency with my 22 month old child as she had high fever for 3days and not eating and being dehydrated and just sick. Waited for 6 hours, 11-5: 30pm. I had need to ask to when we will be seen and the triage did not even know my child was there even they gave her a wrist band. Waited in the room for an hour. The nurse already said she breath quite fast and she check her oxygen level.that’s it. After 30 mins doctor came check the stomach, ears and said he’s seen 5 kids that day with same symptoms and nothing to do. Wait for 5days, if she have the fever for 5 days then go to the family doctor. Let my daughter fight what virus she having. I asked for anti biotic but the doctor said why would he give one as she is a health baby. I did not go there and wait 6 long hours while my child is being uncomfortable being held in the chair waiting and if I don't see anything wrong with her. This system is just broken.

We had to take our daughter in over the weekend and we live a few hours east of Edmonton. First off the wait time was told to us upon entry that it was going to be at least a 6-8 hour wait so we appreciate them letting us know. Me and my wife and daughter didn't mind because the nurses on staff are absolute angels and trying their best to accommodate everyone to the best of their abilities so please be patient with them. Yes it is so hard when your child is in pain and you just need that help but I guarantee you that they will get the help they need the second they can do it. I have so much more I can say but this is already pretty long. I know not everyone will feel this way but for us it was an overall positive situation. Thanks again for all your help and please keep up your amazing work!
25 July 2022 5:31
I don't recommend to emergency because I went there with my 1 year old son, he had high fever until 4 days and nose congestion. After 7 hours waiting dr said you gave to him Tylenol if anything happens you can come again. They gave nothing but they need to hire more doctors then reduce wait time. Thanks
10 July 2022 18:42
By far the best hospital experience we have ever had. Our little one was flown to Edmonton and immediately seen in the neonatal intensive care unit. All of the staff treated us amazingly and every effort was taken to assure our little one got the care he needed.
26 June 2022 5:16
This is a very good hospital they have good staff and it is clean. Their snack bar was very good and they had some good food.
23 March 2022 4:13
This is the worst hospital you could come but I recommend to come if you want to waste your time we had to wait 5 hours in waiting area and 3 hours in the waiting room and all the nurses and doctors are mean every time we would talk to one of them they would be mean it’s better to die when your home than dying in the waiting area.
19 March 2022 17:56
I can't believe that you need to wait for 5 hours here my baby was dehydrated due to excessive vomiting but this hospital was terrible and you will surely lose your patience.
12 March 2022 19:30
Overall OK experience. Loved the social worker that went around making sure everyone was comfortable. Loves a hand full of the nurses, very sweet and caring. But like all places there was some very mean and harsh nurses that talked badly about patients and the kids in open areas where I could hear it. I think a couple nurses in there definitely lack sympathy and friendliness.
09 February 2022 4:16
It was worth waiting. Dr. Slomp is very professional and patient. He explained everything in details and answered all my questions and concerns. The nurse was very kind and professional, too.
06 February 2022 20:11
Had to visit here for my baby multiple times.long waiting times which I can understand is normal. However, except one Nurse who was very rude, everyone else in the ER were empathetic.
28 January 2022 23:40
Been here since 12 bc i got detainedbc i was going to kill myself.i have been in this waiting room for 5 and a half hours now after seeing the nurses let everyone else fill up all the beds (there was a full waiting room) i asked the lady and she said "all the beds are taken up so you need to wait until some open up" i cant leave the building and i have been waiting here for almost 6 hours because the nurses ignored my whole existence.dont come here ever for your mental health
08 January 2022 18:38
This is the LAST place you want to take your child with mental illness. Not only was the wait 6-7 hours, I went and the nurses and mental team were so supportive but when it came to the psychiatrist, they brushed everything off, even though knowing I was in danger of myself. I was sent home and told to take more meds, do more therapy, in which I already have been doing. Wasted my time, and I’m severely disappointed.
31 December 2021 10:52
They are there to help kids but do very little to help. My 11 months old baby had high temperature of 39.8 Celsius for 3 weeks, body weakness, inability to sleep at night, loss of appetite, diarrhea and other flu like symptoms. She was gradually draining in my eyes. I went there and all they told me was use tylenol and advil alternatively (10times a day). I doubt who gives such prescription because even adults take tylenol after 4 hours minimum. Fast forward, with all the painkillers my daughter's temperature was still same. I brought her back after 5 days and all they told me was that they know it is a sad and painful situation but there is nothing they can do to help the situation even if the fever extends to two months. My heart bleeds for my child.
17 December 2021 10:15
Even in Covid times with huge overburden in admissions (not the fault of the great admin, nurses and doctors who work here), my kid was triaged, xray’d and diagnosed within 3 hrs. Yes it sucks to wait and yes, every kid is important. But these guys and gals do their best. I would send my kids here for emerg any time of day or night.
13 December 2021 3:32
Its sad that there are so many bad reviews people whining about having to wait for a couple hrs. This place is where children with the most severe medical conditions are taken care of first as it should be.we spent the better part of 3 months when our child was born with a heart condition and the again twice after for more heart surgery believe me they never quit.
29 November 2021 4:39
These doctors and specialists are soooooo accommodating when your going through the motions of disease. Once they were done chopping at my daughters insides. Those caring doctors went away. No care. No how to prevent my daughter from pain. Dissatisfaction. No like. Sent off to other so called specialists. It’s a living nightmare. Your left to disaster. Then when the child is in utter pain at home for a month.
23 November 2021 0:12
Bad experience, 3.5 hours wait period. AHS should spend money to hire more nurses and doctors.
My little one out of patience.
22 November 2021 19:07
My daughter ended up there last Saturday. They had very strict protocols.during a pandemic. I fully understand. It seemed there was caring people that work within the protocols, and really went above and beyond for us. My daughter got the help she needed as well. There was heart in my experience.
14 November 2021 5:05
Do not bring your kid who has mental illness because they are don’t do nothing to help, they don’t recognize when kid is in self danger, so wow if kid said to them that they will go for therapy and will not harming them self actually they believe the kid not parents and they let kid like that home, my question is did you really finish the school for mental health or just blabbing nonse nse! Horrible experience not just one time, probably more then 10 times.the Knowledge of this doctors and nurses for mental health it’s 0 they just trust kids, Thanks for great help I don’t know why I even paying in mental help but I will for sure contact them!
04 June 2019 7:38
My son is 3 months old and has already had two heart surgery’s preformed here and doing great!
Friendly staff and amazing doctors and surgeons!
Glad we have this hospital for our little ones!

I'm giving a 1 today for the following reasons:
1. Been here 6 hours
2. No relief for my daughter who has not eaten since Tuesday (it's Friday)
3. The triage nurses are rude and don't give amy answers
4. They say they are "prioritizing". So kids who are less sick then mine go in first
So extremely disappointed with this. This is supposed to be the BEST place to bring your child, i feel its the WORST
