We just stayed at Storm Mountain Lodge and we will 100% be back. It was absolutely beautiful. The cabins are gorgeous, the scenery is amazing, the customer service was 10/10. We had dinner from their restaurant the first night here (we took it back to our cabin) and it was great! Definitely a bonus that they are dog friendly, our dog loved it here. We had a wonderful experience.

We love Storm Mtn Lodge and the restaurant is top notch. We have been coming here for many years and when the new owners arrived it got even better. More attention to the cabins was taken and its not as drafty in the cold winter. Hot water on demand is much more reliable and the cabin was clean (its rustic, so bring your slippers). Annie at the front desk was amazing - jack of all trades, she make the whole experience go well!

This place is a little gem! The restaurant blows me away every time, had the elk bison burger 5. The next night had the scallops and elk it was amazing, my bf had the pork it was to die for. Love this place. The cabins are cozy with wood burning fireplace so romantic!

We had the chef's tasting menu. It was an amazing experience. We loved the lamb, the blueberry bread (served with the most amazing butter) and the halibut.
22 August 2023 23:15
Nice lodge, only one thing that disturbed me-the sound of the road.

Excellent food, one of the best dining experiences in the Rockies
22 August 2023 12:20
Staff was friendly. Room was very uncomfortable. The floor was not even sloped significantly in a couple of spots. Felt like would fall backwards every time used toilet. Sink was not in bathroom. Had a restuarant that only severed dinner, food was good but you had to get reservation one to two days in advance to get in to eat. Closest other place to eat / store is 30 minutes away.

Interesting historical place. Cozy cabins. The historic charm of the lodge is great Good quality and great presentation of food. Expencive. Breakfast has a limited selection of food -pricy.
Overall-interesting place for one time as for me.

Birthday dinner tonight with family - absolutely AMAZING food, service, drinks, and atmosphere. Was so enthralled with being in the moment, forgot to take any pics!
We had steak, short ribs, duck, and a scallop risotto - everyone throughly enjoyed their meals! The crackling fires really added to the ambiance! Our server was SO friendly and kind! I wish I lived closer and could come more regularly!

My girlfriend surprised me with a birthday get away to Storm Mountain Lodges. Such a sweet and awesome place. The staff was very kind, The cabin was perfect. So quaint and cozy. So many little hikes extremely close to the cabins.

Amazing experience. Gorgeous and quaint little cabins with wood burning fireplaces. Probably the best dinner my partner and I have had to date. The house old fashioned was incredible.
Dog friendly and well kept. Couldn’t recommend more.

It’s unfortunate because we really want to love this place, but due to our treatment I need to give it a two star review. The cabins are lovely with the wood burning fireplaces, very simple, cute and rustic. Its so romantic and Intimate. Unfortunately, we had a disgusting experience with one of the waitresses named Jessica.
The girl from Ireland at the front desk and the blond server were lovely! But it really tarnished our entire trip and took the magic away from our trip. I’ve had my own business for over ten years and you know when you come across a toxic staff member. We had the unfortunate luck of dining with this Jessica at dinner, she was a sub par waitress and after having dinner for over 2.5 hrs, my husband had a beer and two glasses of wine during dinner. The food was good. Following dinner we decided to move to the couch area and share a glass of wine as the spot right by the fireplace just opened up. The server was very upset that we moved without asking her and She refused to serve us. Stating my husband had, had too much to drink? We were not drunk, nor rude or belligerent in any way. We had a large dinner, he had 1 beer and 2 glasses of wine over a 2.5hr period. When I addressed this, she was rude and unapologetic. She stated she didn’t know if he had anything to drink prior to dinner. Which he did not, but regardless we were not belligerent and were staying on the property and not driving. If we want to have a few cocktails on vacation, this should not be questioned by hospitality staff, especially when they are not drunk and fully coherent. She then proceeded to push the payment machine into my husbands face without giving him the bill. He had to ask for his bill 3 times before she gave it to him. When she finally gave it to him she “conveniently” noticed she “accidentally” added an extra $75.00 to the bill. So not only were we extremely embarrassed by this woman she also tried to steal from us.

The next morning I spoke with one of the waitresses and she apologized and confirmed that we were completely fine and she was shocked we were treated this way. Management knew how we were treated by this woman and Instead of addressing it directly and speaking to us or apologizing, indirectly through the lovely girl at the front desk offered us a complementary “grab and go breakfast. ” I’m sorry but your complementary “breakfast” doesn’t make up for the embarrassing us and uncalled for treatment from your toxic employee and the fact she also tried to steal from us on top of that is completely unacceptable.

Great place to sleep. Comfy cabin. Fire wood. Dining on site. Easy on and off highway. Middle of Banff and lake Louise
29 August 2022 12:47
Annie, the general manager, could not have been more friendly and helpful with all of our needs! She helped us in a pinch and she went out her way to help us enjoy our day in Banff!
19 August 2022 1:43
Been visiting this place for well over ten years. The friendliness never stops. Food is always fresh, creative and perfectly cooked. Cabins are rustic, clean and comfortable. Some non-BC wines would give this place a 6 out of 5:)

Peaceful cabin in the woods! Strongly recommend!
Pros:
-Very comfy cabin that comes with your very own indoor fireplace. Decent space for 2 people (cabin #1) also has a public outdoor fire place right behind the main lodge
-high chance of wildlife encounters, some times across the highway, sometimes right in front of you. Keep a safe distance and always have your camera ready!
-The food was steakhouse level+, definitely worth a try.
- Great view of the mountains (even on rainy days)
-Provides great service, staffs are very thoughtful and friendly (introducing the area, starting the fire for you if you are having trouble…)
- cabin to cabin distance is short, but you still got your privacy.

Cons:
-Locate by highway 95, there will be traffic noise, but the noise isn’t that much to be concerned
- Most time are fully booked, almost impossible to extend your stay.

The lodge is in the woods, not much activities available in the area, but It’s about 20min drive to banffville or Louis lake, pretty convenient if you have a vehicle.

1 star for management, not the place itself. We booked a stay here for a special occasion. We got a call 24 hours before check-in that our stay was canceled. A few hours later we were excited to be able to rebook for different dates. Again, less than 24 hours before this 2nd attempt, they canceled it again on us.

Both times cancellation was due to an ongoing issue they were having due to the cold weather; there was no need for less than 24 hour cancellation (twice). There was no consideration for guests plans, too short of notice, no chance to rebook at a discount, no offer for a free night in the future, not even a token gesture like a free glass of wine next stay.

We had packed and traveled the night before. We're now out $1k and vacation days we didn't need to use. Nothing from management.

We rented a cabin for my wife's birthday and it was super cute and such a fun experience. The area is incredibly gorgeous and the cabins and lodge are so much fun.

The restaurant in the lodge was SO good. We got the Chef's tasting dinner and it was one of the best meals of my life (and I'm a foodie!).

I highly recommend this experience!

Booked it for two nights during Christmas. Loved the atmosphere and the decor upon arrival.
It was minus 30 out and the heater barely keep the cabin warm. The staff brought us more wood for fire and extra blankets for the night.
We woke up in the morning and found out there is no power no water in the cabin. We were freezing. We messaged the staff and they told us that generator is down. And they are working on it. I told them we are leaving cuz we are freezing. They gave us full refund.
But I think they could have done things differently at the first place. They should have informed us that the generator is down not until we asked. And they could have brought some fire wood/blankets/hot water/flashlight …etc to the cabins. It’s Christmas Day after all. We felt that we are just left out. We stumbled and packed our bags while using the flash light on our phone in the freezing cabin. For the price they charge. I really expect better service from them.
2 stars goes to the interior of the cabin.

This is paradise on earth. The staff is great the food is beyond amazing. You won’t be disappointed.
05 January 2022 10:47
We stayed for a night early December. When we arrived, it was chilly but as soon as we got the heat going the cabin got warm and stayed warm. We booked a reservation for dinner at the lodge and had a PHENOMENAL dining experience. Highly recommend as a romantic get away.

Phenomenal cabins and dining! The staff are amazing as well and extremely friendly. Hikes are very close by! We will definitely be coming back again.
02 October 2021 4:37
I proposed to my fiancé while staying at Storm Mountain Lodge. Even through COVID the staff were incredible and we both look at our stay as the best we have ever had. To put it simply Storm provides the Banff experience that every luxury hotel attempts to replicate.

The food on the menu is incredible, save yourself the ride back to town and order anything from their menu!

We will absolutely be re-booking with Storm in the future.

Honest review

Food: 5
Price: 3.5
Ambiance: 5

If you get the chance to go and stay there, hopefully mid-week when its a bit more quiet. Yes, eat at the Lodge and support them folks. They are great! Food was excellent.

Is it pricey? Of course but in the big picture, where else can you get that experience? And really, how many times did you spent money on things that didn't bring you any value?

If you can afford, spent a few days out there hiking in the area using the Lodge as a base, I promise you won't regret it.tell them I sent you.
28 September 2021 2:47
Nice quiet place to stay and enjoy. The food was also amazing and the night sky was definitely a sight to see! The dog sure enjoyed the fireplace and the comfy bed.
12 September 2021 15:56
Great atmosphere for a romantic cabin getaway with a wood burning fireplace and unlimited hot water. Cabins are clean and cozy. We enjoyed our stay and will likely be back soon!
31 August 2021 15:52
This was our second stay at Storm Mountain. This place is an amazing getaway for couples. Food is 5-star and the cabins come with a fire place for a romantic evening. They give you lots of paper and kindling too for people like me that aren't great starting a fire. We brought our dogs who enjoy hanging out on the porch while we have wine. You can text in orders for food which is super convenient and the staff is so friendly. A couple hidden things, they have the coziest wool blankets to help you hang out on the porch longer, and the water is delicious.
21 July 2021 2:06
Pros:
Good bed - it was very comfortable and clean!
Cute room - we were in cabin 2, and it was cozy and well decorated.
Enough plugins - we were surprised since it’s historic and definitely a bit more basic that there were plugins on both sides of the bed.
Good food - very tasty!
Beautiful - there were wildflowers right outside the door and a short walk brings a nice view of the mountains.

Cons
Expensive - everything was extremely overpriced. Our food was $80 plus for what we would call an appetizer sized meal.
Loud - it’s RIGHT beside the highway and the traffic noise was quite noticeable even inside the cabin.
No fire = less of an experience - (at no fault of storm mountain) there’s a fire ban, but we definitely feel it would have been a lot nicer an experience if we could have lit the fireplace.
20 July 2021 15:03
Way to expensive for what is offered. 250 sq ft but the bed table and couch take up over half of the space. The washroom was not a 4 piece. It had a toilet and a Tub. There was a sink on the other side of the wall. There was a mouse in the cabin that come out at night. We had a romance pkg waiting for us. It had shampoo, conditioner, soap and a candle that was $90. The only service was room service and towels washed. The traffic was very loud and you could not view the mountains. Considering all of these things $400.was far too much as the Rimrock is $350.with absolutely everything you need.
18 July 2021 12:45
We stayed there during Canada day. I feel cool even the whole Alberta is under heat wave warning. The chef Cory made the best food ever. Strongly recommend
13 July 2021 9:23
Definitely the nicest romantic getaway we have ever had. Dinner was the best meal I can ever remember having! Service was top notch. Everyone was so friendly. Cabin exceeded our expectations. We read other reviews and they complained about the noise from the highway. We were in one of the closest cabins to the highway and didn't find it loud at all. It was pet friendly so we got to enjoy it with all 3 of our dogs. I would highly recommend it!
12 June 2021 16:48
Fantastic stay. Storm Mountain staff go above in beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. I would highly recommend staying here.
31 May 2021 2:28
This lodge remains our favourite destination in the Rockies. The food is fabulous, the cabins are snug and comfortable. The staff are as accomodating as you can be. Very well adapted to covid-19 protocols, everyone here is very careful, and the walk up cafe take out window was a fantastic idea.
02 September 2020 5:15
First off, Being from Nova Scotia, it was a real treat to find this Gem of a place with such a fantastic view, and at a very reasonable price! And secondly, the staff here were THE MOST friendly, helpful, considerate and fantastic hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing business with! Second to none!
The grounds are very clean and well arranged. No cabin is to far from the main lodge (food, coffee, snacks.) As well, the cabins themselves left me speechless. Cleanliness was A1, and there was plenty of space within for 2 people to move about. We had the stone fireplace going in the morning and the night for our 2 day stay, as there was plenty of fire wood stacked neatly at our disposal to do so. We had no troubles with the water. The woman filled the huge soaked tub both nights, and I managed to shower each day without issue. The only thing that we’re we’re slightly upset about is we couldn’t spark up the small BBQ we brought. However that isn’t the camps fault. Understandably, food like that being cooked so far into the grounds would no doubt have beats sniffing around. But many of the grounds and public parks in Banff (Central Park) were completely fine for a cookout.
10/10 Place! Will Definitely be back!
Huge thanks to our hosts at Storm Mountain Lodge!

Lovely and rustic group of cabins just off Highway 93. Sure you get some highway noise, but it’s more than made up for by the sturdy and authentic cabins, oodles of pre-cut wood, and your own fireplace. The restaurant was superb when we were there, not a dish gone wrong. From fondue to bison filet it was fantastic.

A hidden gem that feels like home. Don't miss the Charcuterie board and be sure to check out the desserts (Chocolate Taster is magnificent!)
22 March 2020 5:36
We keep coming back. Love the atmosphere, food is amazing, even if I was a vegan I'd love it. Get your own little cabin with someone special.
20 February 2020 4:32
Storm Mountain Lodge will always be one of my favourite places in the world! We have stayed there as a couple, and now as a family and every time I am still blown away by how beautifully preserved the lodge is and the rustic ambiance. The hospitality is next level and the food is to die for. I cannot rave about this lodge enough!
19 February 2020 7:48
Fantastic lodge hidden away in Canadian Rockies, fantastic food, the charcuterie board is like nothing you've ever eaten before. Service is fantastic and friendly, open fire place. Would recommend booking. Will return without a doubt
14 February 2020 3:24
January 2020 update: Although we still have fond memories of our stay, I was devastated to see that the prices skyrocketed 50% in just 3 years from $265 per night to $395 per night. I don't know how they can justify it, and I certainly can't justify paying that price. I won't change my star rating, but I no longer recommend staying here.
July 2016 review: The best way I could describe Storm Mountain cabins are as an ideal escape from city life and the "real deal" mountain experience. The cabins are historic, while also clean, and comfortable without being too much so. You live without most modern conveniences, and yet the style of living is so fulfilling that don't miss any of them. The only downside, and reason for one star being lost, is the cold cabins. You can build a fire for yourself, but due to poor insulation (see: historic cabins) the heat does not last through the night. There is a natural gas heater, but it leaks gas a bit and you can smell it near the heater, which sadly is situated right next to the bed. The cabins are also a little too near to highway 93, and the road noise detracts slightly from the experience. The only other comment I can make is that the food in the restaurant (located in the beautiful main lodge) is great, and possibly the best in 100 mile radius. It's expensive, but you (almost) won't care. I can easily recommend storm mountain lodge for anyone looking for a romantic, reconnect mountain holiday. I look forward to staying again.

This is the cutest little romantic retreat in the mountains. What a beautiful spot, with super friendly people running the place. We stayed over Christmas and they took care of all the little details and made us feel so welcome. Each night you come back to find a new set-up kindling and lots ready for you to light; nothing beats going to bed with a warm fire going! The cabins are rustic (they were built by CP back in the 1920s), but do have electricity and good heat (it was -15C outside but toasty inside!). You also couldn’t be more central to snowshoeing and skiing. About 20 minutes from Banff to the south and Lake Louise to the north, you’re five minutes away from Kootenay park on the BC side too. Oh, and the food and drinks were great too.
20 January 2020 6:25
The food was amazing. Perfectly cooked and presented. It was cold outside, but two wood burning fires inside warmed us up.
28 December 2019 8:29
I just loved this place. It's awesome, historic, and one of the best places to eat if you want vegetarian/vegan options. It's truly one of the best vegetarian dishes I have ever had. And the dessert was exquisite! If you ever want to have some Canadian vegetarian cuisine, this is the place.

Storm Mountain Lodge is a beautiful place to stay and is an experience! The cabin we stayed in was very cozy and lovely. All of the staff was great and so helpful. We loved the lodge can cannot wait to go back. The food was also amazing!
15 November 2019 22:28
This is a very beautiful lodge and cafe. Very close to kootney national park. Very good option for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you camping at kootney and don't wanna cook. I didn't stay there but the cabins look very clean with beautiful views.
19 October 2019 20:30
Really enjoyed these cozy cabins with an old frontier feel. You really need to visit the excellent restaurant as well. Worth a visit for the food alone, but we enjoyed staying there to relax. Charming.
22 September 2019 23:38
The cabin was nice and rustic. The food was exceptional - but a little pricey.

But, the cabins are RIGHT next to a large highway. You will hear noise from the highway all night long. You don't exactly escape the hustle and bustle of Banff by sitting next to a freeway all night long. The cabin was cute - but for (mostly) the same price you can have a quite lodge room sitting right on Emerald Lake instead of next to the road.

They were very nice - but this place just isn't worth the money. I feel bad for the owners trying to have a quiet mountain cabin next to the road.
18 September 2019 14:15
Amazing location hidden away from the hustle of Banff. Has beautiful view of the Storm Mountain. The cabin was nicely prepared and had more firewood than you could ever burn. Breakfast was excellent as well - worth the drive even just for the food.
15 September 2019 17:39
Ooh, the food delights, and the warm lights close to my wife's skin reproduced the glow of first love.

This is not the five stars of a budget meal exceeding my expectations, but of a demanding expectation getting blown away.

We took a day trip to the Alberta/B. C.border to raise the temperature in our romance. After a wildflower lined hike to the beautiful Boom Lake, this restaurant sealed the mood. (We only stopped in for dinner, not their cabin lodging.)

(I normally post about inexpensive meals for GI sufferers, and in respect for cooks accommodating my GF and lactose demands off-menu, I do not post when the results are bland. Let people who eat from the menu judge.)

The entire entree selection is gluten-free with some fancy vegan selections too — no need to go off-menu. Prices reflect the romantic quality of the ambiance, yet a bargain in the flavour, nutrition, presentation and artisanal vision of the three chefs. Locally sourced vegs feel garden plucked in texture (probably are).

The halibut with peach chutney even beats the chef special on top of the Calgary Tower! The bison ribs, unlike most bison cuts, are juicy with dissolved marbling, softer than prime rib and as dense in flavour as wild game.

This place has convinced us to bag all our lunches and put all the savings into repeated trips to the Continental Divide. Nourish your body and love life here at the intersection of Banff, Kootenay and Yoho National Parks. Worked for us, we'll be back again and again.
06 September 2019 15:54
What a amazing restaurant. Friendly hotel staff. Veggie food available. Yummy beetroot burger. The hotel interior was fascinating.
09 July 2019 22:19
Awesome place to stay away from the crowds. A short drive to Banff or Lake Louise. Comfy and cost cabins with a wood fireplace stacked a ready to light every day. Definitely recommend this place
