I had an amazing experience getting a manicure here, the prices are fair and everybody was really friendly. This is my new favorite nail salon and I will definitely be coming back, and recommending it to all of my friends and family.

I received a horrible service today! After 10 years of doing nails not only was the employee not aware of the services provided the manager was unprofessional. I got a refill and came with beautiful coffin nails but needed to fixed two. I came out with 4 different shapes, almond nails which I hate and they still use the curvy tip that is super cheap! I don’t recommend them if you like long, or medium size even, coffin and well shaped nails; they aren’t the place to go. Like their page they are known for almond small nails with basic design.

I’m very disappointed and I told them, and I still paid for my service and the lady name Kathy on the phone known as the owner told me to never come back because I didn’t want her to fix it the next day.
I was there for 2 hours for a refill; who would want to come back?
Aha not that I was going to. But SO unprofessional, I’ve never had such service in Ontario.

I used to come to Sugar Coat to get lashes done (which I was very happy with then!) And this time round came to have extension nails removed and finished with a shellac manicure. My nail tech was incredibly gentle, which I needed for sensitive nail beds, and did such a wonderful job. Highly recommend coming here!

Although I don't usually write reviews since I’m super busy, I felt compelled to share my experience this time! As a pianist who frequently records professional piano tutorial videos, I place great emphasis on the appearance of my nails. Thanks to Kathy at Sugar Code, my nails look amazing! Even with my particular requirements, she did an exceptional job. I'm thrilled with the result and can't wait to showcase my stunning nails in my upcoming piano videos.

I stumbled upon this place looking for a nail salon and this one really stood out to me. My regular nail lady here, always does amazing, wonderful work and I never leave disappointed! Cute salon and very clean! It's a bit pricy, but for the quality of work? I am more than happy to pay more. I highly recommend this salon and of course I'll be back!

I saw Diva today for a pedicure and it was a wonderful experience. The place is very clean and bright with cute decor and friendly technicians. Diva took her time to make sure my nails were perfect and I liked that she was very gentle on my sensitive feet. The hot stone massage on my legs and feet was a bonus. I'll be back for sure.

Biggest waste of time and money. I came in for a mail removal and shellac manicure which they recommended when I asked for a natural nail or gel natural nail manicure over the phone. When I finished the nails looked uneven but from my view and I was in a rush so I left. I was annoyed I was charged 74$ for a nail removal and shellac natural nail manicure, however I was even more upset when my nails began to chip and break bec there was still soaked off acrylic under the shellac. Even the shellac polish after a day looked dull and cracked. This is with no work or activity at all. I got the nails redone at sugar complimentary and now my nail beds are so thin after going through the pain the second nail artist put me through to remove and redo my nail. She even said that the hard scrapping with the nail mental spatula on my nails was normal and I’ve been getting my nails done for over 6 years and I’ve never seen that or the level. I won’t be coming back ever *** I contacted them today 12/27/2022 and the owner was more concerned that I made a honest bad review online then making an appointment for me to get these horrible nails that are now ruining my nail beds off. I’ll be telling everyone I know to never pay for their service and I’m my neighbors who get their nails done in the areas

Took great care and didn't rush through. Would be nice if they had massage chairs but otherwise highly recommend

I went in to get my Halloween nails and unfortunately they couldn’t do the design I wanted (black, Smokey ombré) so I settled for a matte black claw instead. The owner called me today and said that she and the girls felt so bad and offered for me to come in and get a different design. I was so flattered that they took the time to reach out, but I had to decline because I still love my nails and I’m currently in the midst of midterms (so I don’t have time to go again). I have been jumping around nail salons for so long and I couldn’t find a spot that I liked enough to stay there! I gave a try to Sugar Coat and I loved it!

I recommend asking for Chau! She is super sweet and extra careful with my cuticles, she also pays so much attention to details and is committed to give you an excellent service. The environment is clean and comfortable. I have had a great experience and I will continue to come back:)

I was visiting from the US in February and did a search of nearby salons and this one was not only convenient but the pictures showed amazing work. I don’t wear really long nails and I don’t care about designs at all. I booked with Grace and she did an amazing job! I am very, very particular about my nails and have had them done by the same nail tech at home for 12 years. This is the only place I will go to now and I only want Grace to work on my nails, she is the best!

I had a really great experience at Sugar Coat. I brought my senior parents for their first ever manicure/pedicure and they really enjoyed it. The techs didn't rush and were patient with their questions (and dad jokes), and the results were awesome.

My dad got a sports mani/pedi while my mother & I got shellac polish. My tech even did an impromptu design for me. This salon is super clean, comfortable and chill. Highly recommend!

They’ve done an amazing job for both of us, and we absolutely loved our nails. Mine was so perfect for bridal nails and they lasted foe three weeks!

The pedicure was my favourite, and after the treatment my feet felt silky smooth and nails were very well done. Highly recommend this place for your nails

My wife surprised me with a birthday pedicure at Sugar Coat. I had not been there prior, and based on the experience I had… I am wondering why I had not gone there sooner!

I’d go back again. They did a great job. It was a relaxing experience that I very much enjoyed. My feet are ready for sandal season.

I get my lash extensions done here and I highly recommend it! Amazing retention, great attention to detail and they always look and feel great.

The salon cancled my appointment last minute, leaving me to my own devices and ripping off my fake nails. I had used the online booking tool to explain what I needed and was even texted for a follow up as to what services I needed, so I sent them a picture of my nails (1 broke in each hand,), explaining that I needed fills on 8 fingers, new colour. And 2 new nails. There was no reply. I had to call back 2 hours before my appointment to see if my appointment was scheduled or now. And I was told they didn't have anyone to help me with that until Tuesday, (it was Thursday,). I am glad it happened cause now I am back to my natural nails and saving the money I would've spent on my nails.

Absolutely love this place! I love that they are able to work with your natural nails. Chau does an amazing job on my nails every time:) this has definitely become my go-to nail salon!

My experience at SugarCoat has been amazing! When I first moved to Calgary, I tried a couple different salons before finding them through a referral. I have always had phenomenal customer service, everyone there is super talented as designs, and it lasts (I find a lot of other places this isn’t the case). I always get compliments on my nails, and I always refer my friends to them. 10/10!

I’ve been a regular shellac manicure girl for the past three years here. I am continually impressed at how diligent the girls are here making sure everything is perfect. I’ve never had a nicer job in my nails in my life - Estelle and Chau are my go to’s, and both are equally professional, friendly, and meticulous. Hands down the best place in Calgary for manicures.

I am so so beyond happy with the service I received today. My nails are everything I've always wanted when getting fake nails. The tech was so calm and patient with me. My anxiety was thought the roof and she was just so amazing with my lack of relaxing. I recommend this studio to everyone. I can not wait to show off my new nails to everyone. Thank you!

I have been a regular customer at Sugar Coat for over 3 years. By regular, I mean every 3-4 weeks, and even during the pandemic (when open). I have never frequented another nail salon. As a busy professional working mom, I schedule my appointments on the one night I am child free that week. I drive 30 minutes each way, because I have always valued local and they have always done a great job. However, today I called while on route for my appointment because I was running 7 minutes late. I told the person on the phone that I was exactly 7 minutes late. It is important to note, there was a snowstorm just before I left. She told me the person I was scheduled with had to leave at exactly 6: 30 for her other job. I asked if I should turn around and she said no- I will see what we can do. I park, walk in exactly 7 minutes late and am informed that I can only have part and not all of my service (nail polish removal only). I questioned why no contingency (I value her time, and also expect my time to be valued) and she suggested I should have left earlier, they cannot predict the weather and "I told you I would try" on the phone.

I have never been more insulted by the handling of my appointment. I would have been more understanding had I been told to reschedule when I called and not after I park and walk in. Being told I should have left earlier, is unprofessional at minimum. There was a weather event, and if appointments are scheduled as such, it leaves no room for error (which has happened once and the tech was awesome and meticulous that time). This experience left such a bad taste in my mouth, I will never go back. If there is no flexibility for a working mom, this is not my salon. There are too many alternatives. Not to mention I have sent folks who are now regulars to Sugar Coat. As you know, this bad experience not only impacted a loyal customer- of the demographic that sustains these businesses in tough times- but will also impact future business.

Just amazing, deserves more than five stars. Yui is great, she made my nails breathe again. I had extensions on and they were in bad shape. Yui catered to all the needs and made my nails beautiful. I love the " no drill " zone as it protects the real nail.

Lovely store with safety precautions. Ladies are very efficient and professional and they also give a wonderful hand massage at the end. Very happy with the nails!

I started coming to Sugarcoat when I moved from Ottawa. I had the same wonderful nail tech there for 5 years and was devastated to be leaving her, knowing i would have to find a new one, but on recommendation from a friend, I went to Sugarcoat and had an AMAZING experience. My nails always look fabulous and the girls can do any design you show them.often better than the original picture! Highly, highly recommend!

Went here for a pedicure the other day and this place is awesome! Great atmosphere and all the girls seemed to do very good work. I've never had my nails and cuticles cleaned up so nicely. My new go to spot in downtown:)

Sugar Coat is one of the best nail services I went too.
My nails is always thin and brittle but since they only use nail files its more gentle on my nail bed. I would always come back here again!

First set of acrylic nail extensions and it’s been a great experience. I have received so many compliments on them and they really suit my hand shape/preferences despite the fact that I didn’t really know what to ask for. Looking forward to my fill next week. Thank you Sugar Coat!

There was nothing WRONG with the service other than a lack of friendliness. Not one person looked up from their counter when I walked in, I stood for a few minutes before someone came through from the back room to greet me. Not one word was spokenn to me other than "what color? ". I asked if nail art was possible and a blunt "you didn't book enough time. " I think I would enjoy myself more
elsewhere.

The staff is professional, the space is so cute and very clean. They take your time, listen to what you want, they do the most beautiful nail designs.

I just got a classic set of lashes by Alice. She did an amazing job! They look stunning and the over all experience was lovely!

My friend and I have been going to Sugar Coat for over six months now since moving to Calgary. We struggled to find a nail salon that we liked at the beginning so when we found Sugar Coat, it was the best feeling. I remember walking out of the salon after our first shellac manicures and asked my friend what she thought. Literally, we both screamed "it was amazing! " The salon is clean and I really like how no drills are used to remove shellac. There is also a good selection of colors. I think I've had my nails done by all of the technicians there and I would say you can tell who has more experience (by the attention to detail, shaping, and overall technique) but nonetheless, they're all wonderful. It is on the pricier side for a shellac manicure if I had to compare to Edmonton but I think it's reasonable when comparing to other nail salons here in Calgary. Overall, highly recommend!

I found this place while looking online and I had no idea what to expect. The service was fantastic quality. I got shellac manicure. The nail technician that attended to me had a good eye for detail. The space was nice and clean. I highly recommend it.

From the moment that you walk into Sugar Coat you feel so welcomed by the staff. Not only have I had multiple shellac manicures and pedicures, but I've also had my lashes lifted and tinted. The girls always listen to my needs (I have oily nail buds and therefore shellac doesn't stay as well but they make it happen) and they make sure that I leave happy every time. Thank you Sugar Coat for bringing the girl power atmosphere into such a clean well organized salon. I'll be a customer for as long as I live in Calgary <3

I recently had bad experience with the owner. I have been going to this place for more than a couple of years and now I am so disappointed by the owner. I booked an appointment with Alice for the eyelash extension and other new technician was showed up. The owner knew about this and didn't inform me. So unprofessional! What a waist my time!

It was very inconvenient to rearrange my schedule with Alice because she only works certain days. The owner didn't even apologize in the beginning and she even pushed me to get service with a new technician. She kept justifying it was just one time mistake and she said my next appointment will be on her but now she asks me to pay. The owner is so rude and unprofessional. She does not APPRECIATE loyal customers' business.

Definitely not coming back! Ladies don't got in this salon! The owner does not appreciate your business!

The best nail salon in Calgary for sure. I tried so many places until I found sugar coat. I was used to get fake nails all the time because my own were always short, and never growing strong. Well I went here, and Alissa convince me to try grow my natural nails. OMG my nails were so beautiful, long and natural than never (check the photos) for almost a whole year. I am so sad because I moved to Vancouver and my hands aren’t the same anymore. I’ll miss this place SO MUCH!

Sugar coat is absolutely the place to go if you’re getting your nails done. They’re not only very clean, but they’ll also make sure you have exactly what you want before you walk out. Besides the super friendly environment, they are perfectionists when it comes to nail services, so they won’t be afraid to redo something if they don’t think it looks great. I highly recommend sugar coat! You won’t regret.

There was a mix up and misunderstanding with the Groupon I purchased and Manwa was very professional and accommodating about it. I appreciate the customer-first approach they took with me as it goes a long way in my books.

I was really expecting to love this place, especially after such great reviews and pictures of their nail work. As an experienced Esthetician I also hold places like this to a high standard, which I did not feel Sugar Coat met.

I was drawn to this salon because I usually do my own nails and feet services, but wanted to treat myself and try them out based on their reviews. I was specifically impressed with their “no drill” practices and how they advertised sculpted gel nails, as I have had bad experiences with tips glued on in the past.

My nail appointment began, and the esthetician began fitting my nails with tips, I asked her why tips were being used and was told it was because “she did not have time, she was booked back to back and she was already running late”. I am in the industry, so I understand sometimes you run late, but your time management should not affect the quality of my service. She then began using drills on my nails. She was very unprofessional during the appointment, the topic of conversation was continuously about her, she was very cocky and actually quite inappropriate at times. I’m not sure if it is because she mentioned she is leaving the spa soon, perhaps her work ethic has declined? I’m not sure. Either way, I was not impressed.

A pedicure followed, and it was mediocre, I don’t like that they even offer the blades to use during the service. I also noticed during my pedicure that my previous esthetician had began a manicure on another client and was using the same file that she had used on me. Gross.

Overall the spa was a let down. I hold myself to a very high standard especially with my clients at my own spa and this did not even come close to matching them. My nails were okay, but I had to file and fix them once I got home as a few were crooked and the underside of my nail had product built up, kind of sloppy. This is practically a glorified chop shop.

I have gone to this salon twice and absolutely love it here! Have gotten a new gel set and a gel fill and I am happy to say this will be my new regular place! The staff is so friendly, professional, and kind. Their nails also last FOREVER! My new set lasted a month! Without chipping! Had to get it filled cause my natural nails grew out lol. And their salon is so cute!
SO, impressed with them! I also enjoyed my chat with one of the nail technicians this past Wednesday (she is blonde, moving to Australia soon. I did not catch her name) She is so down to earth and real, and we chatted the entire time! Give her a raise!

I recently got a shellac manicure done here. It looked great when I left the salon, however it didn’t even last a week. The shellac started peeling and chipping after 2 days when I can usually get at least 3-4 weeks with shellac.

One of the best salons here in Calgary. They remove your old gel properly without the use of a drill. My nail tech was Estelle, and she did a fantastic job on my nails. Many colors to choose from. They are absolutely amazing. Very precise in shaping your nails. I didnt feel like my appointment was rushed, like many other salons I have been to. I will definitely be returning!
