The bootfitting service provided by Vern is absolutely outstanding.

I am an ex-racer & coach and I am very picky about my boots, so much so that I was skiing in a pair of perfectly dialled in freeride boots that were most certainly past their “Best Before” date. I had put off getting new boots because my feet are very difficult to fit and because I absolutely hate the pain & discomfort often associated with what can be a prolonged bootfitting process.

Ultimateland with great trepidation, I made an appointment to see Vern for bootfitting because I knew my old boots were effectively dead. I decided to go to Vern for my bootfitting because he has a stellar reputation in Edmonton & area. I also knew him from being a customer of the store and I like him — he’s a really good guy. Vern knows how I ski & my skiing background. As a result, when I came in to meet him, he had already determined the best 2 options for me — and his rationale for choosing those models was very logical and aligned with my skiing style.

Ultimately, I chose a Head Formula 120 boot. Vern modified the boot shells to fit my feet perfectly. He did this before I had skied in them because my feet had be some obvious “hot spots”; he ensured that the boot shells were nicely shaped to my feet so to avoid those problems. He also determined that my custom footbed was sound and that I didn’t require another — which I had expected to purchase and was prepared to do so. This last example speaks to his ethics, professionalism & customer focus as he very easily could have sold me another custom footbed.

Finally, as for the boots themselves, they have performed exactly as I had hoped they would. They have been a dramatic upgrade over the decade-old Nordica Enforcers that I was so reluctant to part with.

I truly believe that if you need to buy boots and you are within a reasonable distance from Edmonton, that you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not consult with Vern over your boot choices & fitting needs.

Doug was FANTASTIC! Was so knowledgeable for a first time snowboarder comin in. Gave us realistic and honest opinions about everything.snowboard.binding.boots was in an out with a freshly waxed board and a whole new get up thanks to him.

I cannot speak to their brick & mortar store, but do not order online from Sundance. I had trouble making an exchange, and it has been nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone from their customer service. Their chat function says they'll respond "shortly" or within "8 minutes, " and I only receive responses after nearly 20 hours (and they are usually completely lacking in substance). I have reached out via email 3 separate times and have still not heard back. I am extremely disappointed in my experience, and I would not recommend ordering from Sundance.

Sundance was super helpful right from the beginning. I bought my skis online and they turned out to be too big. Sundance did everything they could to extend my return window, as well as set my new skis aside for pickup. Will and Tom were very helpful, as well as the ladies at the front. I will definitely be going back to support them in the future.

Purchased a pair of ski boots today. I have hard to fit feet & calves and went in without any real hope of finding a pair let alone a comfortable pair. Tom was extremely patient with me and helped adjust the tongue of my boots until everything fit right.

Vern is an absolute treasure who found a pair of boots that fit my feet really quickly & knew how to fix all of the different problems (shin splints, wide toes, wide midsole, orthotics just so I can stand needing to be fit into a boot).

I highly recommend Sundance!

I'm sorry to be posting this, but the wax here isn't good. I've had my skis waxed here twice and both times I felt no difference from when I dropped them off. My skis were slow and not slippery at all. I'm a high level skier and have had many waxes, and sorry, this place just doesn't cut it. The manager was nice though and re-did it for free after I was unsatisfied the first time. Unfortunately the second time was no better. I'll have to find somewhere else.

This was the best ski boot shopping experience. The staff is so professional and knowledgeable. We were able to get fitted with a staff member one on one. They had a few days waitlist to have the ski sized for the boots we bought, but we could not wait because we were going skiing the next day. Even though I declined the sizing, Carson went ahead and sized them in 10 minutes for us. Amazing customer service. I won't go anywhere else for my gear anymore.

Great local shop. Been around for years. Purchased my first board here when I was 14. Now I shop here for my kids. They did an amazing edge repair on my son's board recently. Top ply and bottom ply completely separated and the edge was bent sticking out after a rough crash. When I got the board back, it looked like a minor scuff. Could hardly tell what happened to it. Nice work guys and gals. It was worth the repair. This shop stocks a lot of high quality products and large selections of inventory. Talk to the staff, they know their stuff.

Amazing customer service. Arden helped us the whole time and was super friendly and knowledgeable about everything. I went in for skis, boots, goggles, and a helmet and found everything there for a really good price with her help. Would definitely recommend checking it out.

Russ was awesome helping me with my ski boots that I bought from Sundance last year. He helped with my boot adjustments and was proactive in ensuring that any future issues I encountered will be taken care of by him and the awesome team at Sundance. Great place and even greater staff.

Bought a board here and I brings my own bindings. They charged me 30 dollar for installation （20 for installation, 10 for a missing screw). Sportcheck have way better price.

After I back to home I found out the bindings installed unprofessionally. Screws are loosing and two bindings are far away from each other. Also it is hard to fit my boosts in. Took me 45 mins to reinstall.

I purchased an expensive Descente snow pants for myself last winter and They didn’t fit so I returned them and followed all of the Directions with the label they send to you. I have not received my refund of almost $600. I’ve contacted them, sent emails and finally once I spoke to someone about my refund (which was about 6 months later) they coincidentally say that they never received my itemThat I sent back!

I would not purchase anything from this company unless you are sure of your sizing. I feel that they have taken advantage of me and my return because I don’t live in Alberta and cannot go

35 years later and still a great place to get skis. Knowledgeable staff got my wife and I into a great set of equipment at a pretty good price.

The store was very busy but the staff took all the required time to have confidence in the purchase. Seemed very knowledgeable and were willing to keep it in a set budget. As far as product knowledge goes I would strongly recommend checking them out. Great experience. Will look to do more business there in the future.

I went to Sundance looking for ski boots and Vern was super knowledgeable and helped pick out the right pair for me! I did not feel pressured to buy and he was very knowledgeable with any question or concern that I had. Vern was able to help me get into a great pair of boots for a great price and helped with getting bindings put on an old pair of skis. I would recommend this shop for anyone looking for anything ski related!

Awesome customer service for online ordering. I was looking for a new ski setup online for about a week, I found this place through a kijiji advertisement. They had some of the best prices and selections I could find. I placed an order. But realized the next morning the skis I chose were not going to work for me. I called them and within 10 minutes I chose new skis and they offered to mount the bindings and hot wax the skis included in the price. They were also able to ship it all to me in 2 days and I live about 3 hours away. And the setup is great. Thank you Sundance.

When it came to recently purchasing a new set of skis, going to Sundance was my first choice. They were very helpful and knowledgeable and the level of customer service for a young staff was impressive. Thanks!

I have never snowboarded before but I walked in the store and Zack helped me pick everything and couldn’t of explained it more perfectly. He definitely knew what he was doing and provided insanely great customer service. He will offer you everything you need to make your experience snowboarding/ skiing worth the money spent. He explained everything with so much enthusiasm you want to buy everything he says you might need. I will definitely be shopping there if I need anything snow sport related.

Can’t say enough great things about Sundance. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend if you are buying new gear. Also their 50% buy back for kids gear is amazing

A local shop where the employees are passionate about skiing and snowboarding. I was in the store just to get ideas and Emma was so friendly and knowledgeable and taught me the differences in the widths of skis and how they perform. With that knowledge, I was able to buy skis (elsewhere) but I was really appreciative of the knowledge she provided me. Another employee helped me with ski goggles and showed me which one works best with my face structure.
I bought a helmet in the end and I’m super pleased with it.
Definitely recommend checking this store out! Even if you have questions or new to the sport, they will definitely have an answer for you!

Had my skis fitted by a young guy and he nailed it. Boots were comfortable, poles were good and Skis were a good fit. He was knowledgeable and friendly service.

After visiting a number of ski shops in town looking for a ski jacket for her, we popped into Sundance and were pleasantly surprised to see they had a great selection of inventory. We were helped by Jessica who was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with us. Due to the amazing customer service we ended up buying both his and hers ski jackets and pants.

Sale guys are great, they really take the time to go over different options and know their stuff.
Tuning shop doesn't deliver on promised dates

Great selection, friendly staff, and overall the best experience we could have hoped for. Took my wife for her first pair of ski boots and Ian was a pleasure to work with. After trying a few shops and getting discouraged, Ian was able to find the perfect pair of boots for her. Appreciate the great service! This shop will continue to have my family's business and I advise giving them yours!

First time rental for my son at this location for snow board and boots. The binding shattered on my son at the mountain. Came back into to return the rental and had to pay $160 for the damaged binding. Gave me a deal to get it fixed. Was made out to feel that this broken binding was done on purpose as the person never saw and binding broken that badly. Like we drove over it with a car, WHAT! Who in their right mind would do that ir even say that to a customer. Said that they will call the manufacturer and see if this ever happened and credit me back. Will update after the weekend as that this when they could be called. Make sure you read the fine print for rentals as that insurance you pay for is worthless. Very dissatisfied.

We thought renting skis from Sundance vs.renting skis from a ski resort would the cheaper option (especially since they advertise this on their website with a comparison of their prices vs.a ski resort). Because we were taking a day trip to Marmot, I recommended my dad to rent from Sundance so we wouldn’t have to pay as much and not wait for a long line up at the hill. I called Sundance on December 28th at 1: 32 pm to double-check if we rented the day before and returned them the day after (because the shop would’ve been closed by the time we returned to Jasper) if we would be charged 1 day, and the gentlemen confirmed this was correct. Therefore, I thought it was a great deal, and my dad rented from them.

I was shocked to hear from my dad that they charged him $62 for a 2-day rental when we really only wanted 1-day. I thought it must’ve been a mistake. I accompanied my dad when he returned the rentals and brought it up with the rental shop. There we saw a small sign on the counter mentioning that Sundance would charge a 2-day minimum for all rentals during the Holiday season. For the record, the gentlemen on the phone did not mention this policy, the person renting the skis to my dad did not mention this policy (in fact, the sign was not even posted in the area where you rented the skis, it was posted on a counter where my dad didn’t make it too due to how busy the shop was) and this policy was not posted on their website.

I was really disappointed that Sundance was not upfront with this policy and had several opportunities to mention this (website, rental tech, phone call, etc.) but failed to. There is nothing wrong with having updated polices due to the season but the poor/lack of communication to customers regarding new polices is unethical. We originally chose Sundance to save money, but in reality, we would’ve saved money if we rented from the resort (in fact it’s $46.72 to rent from the ski resort we visited, not $57 and up like it says on their website). Therefore, if you are taking a day trip to a ski resort during the Holiday season, I would recommend you either rent from the resort or check with other ski shops in the city such as Pacesetters.

Highly recommend Sundance Ski & Snowboard Shop for their incredibly helpful and superstar staff and wide selection! Alex and Virginia went above and beyond to get a difficult to locate snowboard bag (not available in the U. S.) and managed the pre-shipping process so that I can receive it before I leave for my trip during Christmas when it's a challenging year (surge in shipping due to Covid-19 and holiday season). Even when it was near/past closing time for the shop, Alex got the bag and packed it so that it was ready to be shipped the next morning. She called and coordinated with Virginia to come in the next morning (outside of her working hours) to prepare it for DHL shipping. This saved me at least a day when every day counted due to time uncertainty with customs processing. Thank you to these angels for accommodating my situation! Happy Holidays!

First time visiting this store today, and have nothing but great things to say about the experience. I dealt directly with a staff member named Evan (I hope that is correct spelling), this guy was the real deal when it comes to knowledge re: skis and equipment. 12/10 experience with him. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him and he was able to not only point me in the right directions (s) for the equipment I needed, but ensured my skis were waxed quickly and professionally. I'll definitely be back to get a new pair of skis as soon as possible, and highly recommend this spot! Don't pass up a chance to speak to Evan when you go there.

Great local business with knowledgeable staff who are always there ready to help. There prices were comparable to Amazon but an even better selection of ski helmet and neon colors.

I recently went here to purchase some ski boot heaters and they tried to charge me a very unreasonable price to install them and told me it would take 4 days. To me that is unacceptable. I declined their not so generous offer and went to a different local ski shop to purchase what I needed.

I have frequented Sundance over the years but lately I have found their service has gone downhill and their standards are not consistent. They have started to charge little fees for installations that they have not in the past. It is very frustrating when I didn’t get charged an installation fee on a product and they try to charge my significant other a fee for the same product.

This is the best service department for board tuning that i have experienced within the city, only downside is its very busy so bring your planks or board well in advance of your planned shred session. Special Thanks to the staff for your wonderful services and courteous manners.

Hands down some of the best service I've ever received. Called in a few days prior to arriving and made a 10 AM appointment for the Saturday for myself and my daughter. Was immediately handed over to Russ who spent the next hour walking us through everything we needed. Because we were from out of town, Russ somehow had our entire package ready for pickup within 90 minutes!
Will definitely return and recommend.

Solid shop! Online anyways. Super fast shipping even through the holidays and the covid scamdemic! And they carry quality European snowboard brands which is refreshing too.

I was in the market for some new ski gear this year (as a gift), and being conscientious about supporting local I decided to check Sundance. Some friends had told me that lots of shops had limited stock this year, so I was prepared for a limited selection. However, Sundance had a wide variety of gear to pick from in-store. They even had some of last seasons gear there at a discounted price. Also, being a first-time ski buyer, there were a lot of things I didn't know that were important when looking for the right ski. Sales associate Russ was very helpful in helping me pick the right ones! I look forward to shopping here again!

Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. For me this is the best ski shop in Edmonton hands down. Great selection of products, staff that have a wealth of personal experience to draw on, and an attitude of finding the right product for you rather than trying to sell you the latest and greatest stuff. If you're buying ski equipment in Edmonton you have to at least check this place out otherwise you're not doing your research

Long review about bad foot pain and ski boots.

I hadn’t skied for about 20 yrs and bought used equipment a few years back as the kids really wanted to start skiing more. They were going with their school and really enjoyed it.

The skis I bought were good but the boots were not. They fit fine but my feet would be in pain within 30 mins of having them on. I tried special insoles, multiple ways to adjust the boot but nothing worked. I spent the last 3 yrs skiing in severe foot pain.

We went to get upgraded equipment for my daughter and ended up at Sundance. They were great and got her exactly what she needed. I started telling them about my boot woes and they said they could look at boots for me. I decided against it and we left.

My wife told me I should go and see them and just make the leap to buy new boots. I was skeptical that new boots would solve the problem and they were expensive. I had planters fasciitis in both feet and I had come to terms that in order to ski, I would have to deal with the pain. To entertain her, I went the next day to look at clearance boots. I didn’t want to spend more than about $300.

I ended up going to a few store and everything I tried started cramping my feet within 10 mins. I decided to go back to Sundance. Their sales associate Max helped me. I told him my issues. Told him I didn’t want to spend more than a few hundred bucks. I told him that I haven’t had luck finding a comfortable boot. I also told him I get bad pain in my arches. He noticed I have a high instep and recommended a Dalbello boot as they are shaped more for feet with a high instep. The original one he recommended, they didn’t have in my size. He then said they had a Dalbello Krypton 110 in my size. It was $519. Much more than I wanted. Max was honest with me from the start that I would likely have a hard time finding a boot for my price range but he understood my reservations. He was very patient. We tried on a couple boots including the Dalbello’s. We put insoles in them and to my surprise, after being in the Dalbello’s for a good 15 mins, they felt fine.

I started looking at new skis too cause mine were used when I bought them and I wanted something newer and more to my liking. He recommended Dynastar Legend 84’s. I mainly ski groomed and light powder with my family.

In the end, I took the plunge and bought new boots. Went back the next day and bought the skis too. I was really hoping that they would reduce the pain in my feet or at the very least, allow me to ski longer before the pain was so bad that I needed to take a break. What happened is not what I expected.

My family went to the mountains this last weekend and I got to try out my new equipment, specifically the boots. I skied all day Saturday and had absolutely zero pain in my feet or calves. I then skied Sunday as well, and today, I feel amazing. I feel like I could’ve skied 5 days straight. I swear, no pain. I never could have imagined that. I am so grateful for Max and the time he took with me. He easily spent over an hour with me and was nothing but patient the whole time. I love skiing but the pain was so bad, it was hard to enjoy. Now I can’t wait to hit the slopes. Thanks Max. You are awesome! Your knowledge in boot fitting is a game changer!

I didn't have to mention this at Sundance, they automatically gave me the best deal I could find and saved me lots of money on new boot liners. Best ski shop in Edmonton, staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and always happy to answer questions and help. Often great deals on gear here, and free shipping and a great online store means I can still support them after I moved away from Edmonton, and even then I can still usually find gear cheaper at Sundance than anywhere else. They also offer a lifetime free adjustment/repair (not including parts) for any ski (and board?) boots bought from them.

5 stars for the service! Bought ski pants online - the online chat was great (real person was always there not robots) and shipping was fast. Unfortunately the pants didn't fit right so had to return but even the return process was worth 5 stars!

Went in to take a look at a Jones splitboard. Got what I wanted, they have a pretty great selection of Jones boards and other splitboard stuff. I admit I was a bit pushy on trying to talk down the price, but once I started mentioning that to them, the sales staff seemed pretty dismissive of me. I asked to talk to the owner, who I had to ask for twice before they got them for me. The owner was super friendly and explained to me nicely that the price was non-negotiable which is totally understandable since it was still a really great deal. But, the dismissiveness of the staff really left a bitter sweet taste considering I was buying my dream board. Maybe they aren't splitboarders, maybe it was a long day, maybe I just didn't look like the person who would buy a splitboard. But overall still a really cool shop and some of the other staff were very friendly.

I understand there are not a lot of splitboarders out there, but it would've been nice to be able to talk to a staff member who was an experienced splitboarder who could give me a bit more of personal experience into the sales talk. The sales person who helped me was able to explain the features of the board but it was all information that was easily read off of the tag on the boards. If they were not too knowledgeable about splitboarding I would've rather had them told me that and grab a staff member who is experienced in splitboarding or told me when they would be in next so I can potentially come back at a later date.

A couple friends and I were in to buy boots and skis. Being beginners, we did not know what exactly to look for. Fortunately, we ran into Vern. This man is insanely knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. The whole process was seamless, and we felt that Vern wasn’t just trying to make a sale. He went above and beyond to ensure he understood our budget, needs, and goals so he could get us into the proper gear and made sure we understood why that gear suited us the best. When it comes to customer service and profession knowledge, Vern is top notch and we really appreciate the time he took with us.

Definitely recommend this place. Phenomenal staff. We’ll be back for sure.
