Really nice store. Not a huge selection if you’re looking for something outside of canvas based art supplies.

I just went here with my friend on the 19th of June and it was a good decision to check this store out.the owner was so nice, we were lucky to have met him.very friendly and even gave us tips for our questions.we were surprised that some of the artworks that are framed in the store are actually his! Usually, some store owners would just put up generic or famous copy of artworks in their store, but wow, the owner is really skilled! The store had almost everything I needed to start exploring a variety of mediums. I even saw the type of pen my friend and I needed that we had a hard time finding in other stores.if we were lucky, we'd find them at Michael's, but it's usually priced from $15 to $20 depending on the quality of the pen.in this little store, they were 2 dollars less and I even saw from their website that they offer a 10% discount to students, what a deal! It was embarrassing for me to try and explain what I was asking for in terms of stroke techniques with an ink pen for drawing since my English is not at a level of the locals here haha.but he was patient with me and helped me a little to understanding what maybe the factors as to why sometimes my pen strokes just let the ink run off like maybe it's also due to the type of paper I'm using. I learned a thing or two hehe.it was unfortunate that we weren't able to buy anything because our parents only allowed us to roam while they took care of something, but we'll remember the store from now on.the store atmosphere was really warm.it has a simple set up, you definitely won't get lost.the shelves and where the supplies are were placed very neatly and it's easy to find what you're looking for.they're also pretty stacked with supplies! Although, I couldn't really see the back because we were too focused on checking out the pens lol. I'm definitely coming back to this store, I don't know when, but I'm sure soon enough now that I know an art supplies store around here. I recommend checking this store out!

Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with their stock. A couple of years ago they were pretty good. I won't be coming back. Also the person serving wasn't very friendly or helpful. It was depressing to be in the store. I wouldn't be surprised if they close down.

Absolutely lovely store, very helpful staff, I think the selection is perfect! Feels much nicer than stepping into a Michael's, and the prices on markers were insanely good. Thank you kindly for your recommendations.

What a friendly store! One of my paint by number paints dried up and she spent her time to mix me a new match because I didn’t need that much. She went above & beyond!

The second you walk in the shop, you immediately smell pencils and erasers—something I’ve only ever smelled at school (categorized in my brain under the “good” memories of school).

We met the shop owner. He was very helpful and personable. Despite his self-proclaimed grumpiness, we found him to be quite the opposite.

The selection was complete and prices fair.

We were visitors to Calgary, so we unfortunately are unlikely to return, but we recommend any and all to support local and enjoy this wonderful little art shop.

I went into the store to ask if they carry paper for my home printer. They do not- however Patrick was so kind as to give me an inch of his own paper supply to hold me over so I could print what I needed print! That’s a courtesy you don’t expect. Thank you.

This shop is a must if you’re in the area, will have everything you need for your projects and more. The owner is sweet and helpful:)

Lovely store to pop in for your art supplies. My partner and I happened by this store by chance, and it has everything we needed, and a few extra items that we will be back for. Shirl is brilliant and sweat, who will be more than happy enough to answer any of your questions, or to help you find everything you need. We haven't met Shirl's husband, but I'm sure he's lovely too

Love this place, it has really interesting art inside made by the locals and all the supplies you'd ever need at appropriate prices for satisfying the artist within without breaking your bank. From calligraphy nib, to Copic pens.

Amazing staff! Friendly and helpful! Came in for felting needles for a school project. They are truly helping students out so much!

Pat is one of the best art supplies guy you would meet. Everything you need for your art juices to be flowing, you will find it here. Must visit and shop at this local store, you will be amazed at the quality of their products. I will never be going back to Amazon, etsy or michaels over this place. Thankyou so much for helping.

Just moved to Kensington less than a week ago and stopped by Sunnyside Art in search of brushes. Pat and Shirley were both very friendly - we stood and spoke about miniature modelling and painting until the store closed. I was even allowed to test some synthetic squirrel brushes - very impressive water capacity for synthetic fiber.

Sunnyside Art doesn't even SELL wargaming miniatures, but they were happy to listen and give suggestions on colour choices. Been back ever since, and as always things were amazing. Pat & Shirley have also offered to give me feedback on colour choices and lighting values for my painting projects, which isn't something you can just casually stroll into a big box store and get.

Just be aware that this is a small family business and it's not exactly overflowing with staff. It helps to be patient when someone else is being assisted at that particular moment in time.

Came in from the cold, and was greeted with warmth. Pat had what I was looking for and sent me away with a gift. In these current times, small acts of kindness go a long way and have the strength to create ripple effects throughout the community. Grateful to have access to this store in the neighbourhood Will be back!

Great selection of art supplies and some drafting supplies as well. I like the prices for the drafting supplies which is mostly what I get when I go there.

Amazing service, very hands-on experienced team, great inventory of hard to find items. Found all I was looking for and learned some.

We have a first year AUArts student in the house so we got the art supply list and headed to Sunnyside Art Supply to get what we needed. I was pleasantly surprised to find the prices there better than Michael's. You'll be our go-to for the next few year. Thank you!

Staff were very helpful and actually followed me to find all the things on my school supply list and gave me recommendations for the best items. They also give you a 10% student discount if you show your school ID.

Can’t rave about this little shop enough! Great customer service! I was in a real bind and needed some paper last minute and the store didn’t have any and instead sold me their own printing paper.

Garbage products and the woman working the till has a displeasing and vile attitude. Won't be coming back. Go to 17th ave for supplies, they have friendly staff and high quality products, unlike this joke of a store

We came here to get some road trip activities for my preschooler. A dollar store might have had more (cheap low quality) options for that age group as this store mainly carries grown up supplies, but I am glad we came here. We were in the store for about two seconds before a nice woman offered help and she had several great ideas. The other staff member also offered help finding something specific. Great store, helpful staff!
