Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge

Very simple hotel. Not for tall people. My husband, who is 1.97 m, had his lower legs hanging out of the bed. Beds themselves are very comfortable and new. But the bathroom has its best years behind it. There was hardly any natural light in the room as we only had a very small window. The walls very thin. You can hear everything, really everything, what your neighbor says and does. The hotel grounds are super beautiful. The restaurant is really good but very expensive. Breakfast was very good. Something for everyone and good coffee) we booked for 2 nights and left after one night. Price performance is miserable

I enjoyed our stay here. Room were clean and cozy. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Spotty wifi but considering the location, I’m just happy they have a wifi. Place is walking distant to Sunwapta falls. The free breakfast was not bad, quite basic (egg, potato, assorted pastries, breads, coffee, juice, oatmeal). There is a restaurant onsite, a bit pricey but serving size were good, besides being in the middle of nowhere, price will reflect same. It is about 40 minutes away from Jasper town.

We picked this hotel because it was walkable to the trailhead for backpacking. It was the only option and at $400+ per night we were hoping it'd be worth it.

The hotel staff was very nice but the restaurant staff was hopeless. A simple premade grilled cheese took 35mins. The continental breakfast was ok but nothing that stands out.

The room was nice, beds were doubles, not queens, but comfortable. HOWEVER, the bathroom was terrible. There wasn't any ventilation and it has clearly been like that for awhile because there was mold all on the ceilings and wall. Totally outdated, cracked tile and dirty feeling. The shower pressure was good but the water temp changed multiple times mid shower.

Also, for the nightly rate, it would've been nice to have A/C. It was stuffy/hot and so we opened the window. We ended up with lots of mosquitoes inside because the screen was broken.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. We would've been better off staying in downtown Jasper and driving to the trailhead.

Very clean king cabin style room. Could definitely hear our neighbors walking around or talking but it was never an issue for us - other than that it was extremely quiet. The continental breakfast available to guests left something to be desired. Was extremely disappointed in this portion of our six night stay. If you are planning on going into Jasper, it’s a 45 minute drive into town- which we really didn’t mind at all because we live in rural Montana and it’s a minimum 45 minute drive to anything here! It was a nice place and we felt like it was definitely a good choice for us - minus the breakfast.

Cabins are cute, we had a nice view of the trees behind. Location was great next to the falls, and wow what a great restaurant on site! Totally exceeded expectations.

Internet speed is straight out of the late 1900s. No cell service. A getaway for people who arent internet addicted

Close to nature, friendly staff, and along the highway. My Grand children love the delicious food served.

Just passing through on my way from Calgary to PG. Nice little shop and place to eat. Friendly staff. Not sure what the hotel is like as I have never stayed here. Looks decent from the outside. In a few days when I'm rolling back through I may grab a coffee and sandwich here and check out the falls.

Quaint lodge in the middle of Jasper National Park, just a few minutes (on foot) from the falls. The rooms are simple and rather small, in one place or another they need a little renovation. Overall, everything is very comfortable and the staff is friendly and courteous.

Dinner is served in the restaurant, which is okay but also relatively expensive. There are only alternatives in Jasper (about 45 minutes by car).

Overall a nice place to stay in Jasper National Park and a good base for trips to the Columbia Icefield/Athabasca Glacier and Jasper.

Due to the unique location and the lack of competition, the prices are relatively high but still reasonable for the standard offered.

Breakfast is ok - you have everything you need, but nothing special.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room wasn't good enough for us. Hair from the Vorbelieger on the bed and on the towels spoil the picture.
In addition, the facility is shabby and quite simple.

If the rooms were cleaner then the hotel is ok for 1-2 nights if you want a stopover. However, the price is way too high for what you get!

The location is fantastic, there is also lots of parking. Staff is very friendly. There is no microwave in the room, but they can bring one. Breakfast is not very good, almost no choices and a very tiny breakfast room for a lot of people to sit in. The bathroom itself was also way too small, almost claustrophobic. You only pay for the location. The restaurant was also not worth it. Way too expensive and not tasty at all.

I did not stay here, so this review is for the gift shop as we stopped here for a pit stop on our Rocky Mountain adventure.
A very well layed out shop with extremely helpful staff who greeted us as we entered. The staff helped pick out great gifts to take home with us for our family. They engaged in meaningful conversation and made us feel right at home.
I would highly recommend this place while driving through Jasper as there are many great unique gifts to find.

A great little stopping point along our journey through the Canadian Rockies. They had some great sandwiches and wonderful dessert items. The Nanaimo Bars were excellent!

All the staff were lovely and helpful finding the right hike for us. Beautiful setting. It’s about 40 minutes from the nearest town - Jasper - but many homes and beautiful places nearby

Nice resort, especially very close to the fall (walking distance). Cabins are outdated and old. No AC in the cabins. We visited July 2021 and it was heat wave! Had open windows. Staff was nice enough to provide extra table fan!

Best part of this lodge is the location, proximity to most of the Jasper national park attractions and included breakfast. Very good food choices (standard continental). See attached photos. Dinner is also pretty good, but requires advanced reservation. We loved our time.
