Super 8 by Wyndham Red Deer City Centre

When I entered this hotel I was greeted by a freaky man on drugs in the lobby. The beds have crusty blankets. Finally the fan keeps making loud noises that sound like the drug man trying to break into my room. The free breakfast better be good tomorrow!

Nothing particularly special about this hotel, nor anything bad. However, it's location right next to the park, is perfect for those looking to explore.

Grab a nearby eScooter and go for a ride through the park while you're here. You won't regret it (unless it's winter, maybe).

Needed a place to stay for a few days and found this hotel online. The hotel exterior is not that bad but when you enter the hotel it definitely shows it age. The staff was pleasant and friendly, however when you got into the elevator to go up to the rooms the floor and railings of the elevator looked and felt dirty. Upon arrival to the rooms you are greeted to a main entry door that does not fully close once you enter the room you have to push it shut, the rooms are pretty small so the bathroom sink is on the exterior of the bathroom, which is not ideal. The room we stayed in had horrible plumbing where it would not drain and looked dirty all the time. For the shower-bath tub combo not only was it not cleaned correctly it did not drain correctly and you were left standing in a few inches of dirty water even though you were trying to get clean.the carpet was stained and not vacuumed. And the lighting was different colours of bulbs, the small fridge and location is not ideal. The rooms do not look and feel fresh and clean once the house keeping staff are done with them.
The pillows are pretty flat and not fluffy and the bedding and bed itself are not very comfortable.
I will not be recommending this hotel to family and friends. Only picked this hotel for the convenience of the location. I will definitely reconsider my choices next time.

Visited Red Deer on 5-8/July for business.

Conveniently located close to the hospital, Tim Hortons, grocery stores and at walking distance from downtown area.

Room had clean bedsheets. Carpet had lots of stains. Bathroom was okay. Extra towels were available at request. WiFi is available inside the rooms amd in the common areas.

The fitness room is very small with little equipment. It needs to be separated from guest laundry room. No swimming pool.

Breakfast was good with some varieties served fresh. It's open from 0630-1000.
The lady there was on top of things and greeted everyone.
Not sure why boiled eggs were kept inside the fridge.

Staff were nice and friendly.

Lots of parking is available. Installing EV charging station would be an added value.

The lady in front desk wont let me use public washroom if im not a guest, just gives me an idea about how we only want you for money and zero hospitality and i never been to super 8 and will never go again just because of that!

Our room had burn marks in the carpet and very rough bedding. The Bathroom door was falling off the hinges and had to pick it up just to close the door. As you walk down the hall there is a door that's broken almost in half like a body was slammed into it. This place is on the very low end scale of hotels. Also disappointed that there was no pool or hot tub, unlike most other Super 8s that has pools.

This hotels environment is cozy and warm—the air conditioning however is refreshing and cooling! This hotel is a go-to for location, respite, and people working in the area.

I recommend booking the jacuzzi suite, exploring the downtown attractions — the recreation centre is a five minute walk! Coffee and tea in room, fridge, plus all the towels and toiletries you might need. Family friendly! Very accommodating.

Rooms are clean, the showers work, and it's reasonably priced. This is a good choice if you just need somewhere to sleep and shower and don't need any frills. Do bring a power bar or something for your devices; I think there were two accessible outlets in our whole double queen suite.

Well, beautiful is different. Totally shabby and the word cleanliness doesn't seem to be known here.

Friendly staff. The room had all we need for our 1-night stay. And the breakfast is complimentary so that's always a plus. I would stay here again

Very mean and rude lady on the front desk, hates her job. I will avoid staying in any Super 8 hotels in the future.

Everything was great except for the lady doing breakfast, she used her unclean hands to mix the cooked scrambled eggs in the container we dished out of gross then went out for a smoke and touched the waffles without washing her hands, again gross. Talked to the lady at the desk, she said she would have a word with her, but when I saw them together about 10 minutes later and they were laughing, don't think anything was said to bad.

Service was awesome very welcoming. I actually met someone that use to be dear to my heart. We stayed here when I was working as shop was in Red Deer.
Rooms were clean bed was comfy and price is reasonable. Breakfast was above average. But the people are what made you feel welcoming. Deb, Rachel, and co

Yeah, its crazy to see the difference between was a 3 star hotel (Holiday Inn) and a 2 star (this one) are. I can live with the fact that the building is old and shows its age in a number of different ways. But what is challenging to accept is how the rooms felt unclean. The carpet tiles and floors felt matted with dirt and upon entering my room, the window was left pretty dirty with fingerprints and smears all over.

Entering the hallway to access the stairwell, there were clumps of dust along the baseboards along with old room cards and bits of foil around the stairs. Not great!

My other issue was the fact that I had mentioned to the girl at the front desk that with the cold night ahead and many people choosing to plug in their vehicles that their entire row of plugs was non-functional and all the girl at front could say was, well you could move your car over to another area? I wish a timeline for a fix was passed along, never mind the other 8-10 vehicles that had were plugged in receiving no power. Perhaps a simple printed sign saying that the plugs were no good at the moment would have also been good to advise people against plugging their vehicles in?

All in all, the place just felt dirty and uncared for. If you're willing to pay a bit more to get a 3 star experience elsewhere, you're better off doing that than staying here.

Horrific Sleep mattress was like sleeping on bricks. The pillows were the thinnest pillows ive seen. If you need to work in the morning avoid at all costs. Zero sleep. Zero Sleep Staff were really nice and the rooms were reasonably clean. Except for smoke stained walls and dirty carpet. There was also a pullout bed couch from the 70s.

I had no issues with the staff at this hotel all were very nice and made sure we were happy when we were leaving. The issues I did have with this hotel was the fact that we woke up in the morning to bed bugs crawling around the sheets. The faucets in the hotel were loose and the sink and tub were unable to drain properly. The elevator to go to your floor was dusty inside and blood smeared on the one wall inside. The complimentary breakfast was cold, bagels were extremely old and stale. Yogurt was sitting out in a container with no water or ice. Was very disappointed staying at this hotel after staying there twice before for work I definitely will not be visiting this hotel EVER again.

I worked at super 8 in Rocky mountain House and all the stafg at all the super 8s are really really friendly and helpful

I was looking for a cheap place to stay for a wedding, and honestly the 70$ a night is way too overpriced for the state of the place. The lights the hotel were not working properly and when they did they would only flicker on and off (think strobe light.) The one blanket they provided was very thin and scratchy. The roads beside the hotels were very loud and we could hear them all day and night. The carpet was covered in stains. When coming back from the hotel at night there were many people looking for a place to get out of the cold and many people looking into cars windows, once we saw this we ended up parking at a friend's house in Clearveiw and got shuttled back and forth to the hotel. Would not recommend leaving any valuables in your cars or even leaving your car there.
