Really cool concept and love being able to play classic console games. Reserving a spot was a bit confusing as my friend called and gave her name and number for the time we were able to be there but the previous group didn't leave until almost half an hour later. Then we were told they don't do reservations and it's only first come first serve, yet we had to pay 10$ each to play for an hour. Drinks and food were ok and took a while to receive but I felt bad because there was only one person working.
Everything on the menu is very good. I recommend their winter melon bubble tea! The concept of the place is also very cozy and relaxing. I highly recommend this cafe if you’re looking for a place to relax and chill with your friends.
One of the most inviting places I have been in Calgary. Great ambience and the host/owner was really kind. We had bubble tea (wintermelon) and ice latte (caramel) with fries and it was top notch 10/10. There are tons of games to choose from with nintendo, ps4& 5 with comfortable seats. Great experience! Highly recommended.
Great atmosphere and entertainment while you have some coffee or tea with games! Would recommend for an hour or more to enjoy some time with your friends and family. This cafe has some old school games, check out the N64, gamecube and SNES!
Went there in the evening on a weekday and the place wasn’t super busy. Honestly, the food is frozen and doesn’t taste so well. The place is definitely a go for gaming but all board games (which are free) are not in best condition. The owner is super sweet and the ambience is good.
Super Smash Café offers a wide array of board games to consoles and all gaming products you can think of. There's something for everyone. The vibe is a perfect mix of couch gaming, with a community hub that you and your friends/family can enjoy together. They also host parties or events for groups and alike.
Food are spot-on, and their drinks are reasonably priced and taste great!
The staff are wonderfully responsive and hospitable too! Jason, he's a rockstar, managed the front, helped us with the games and consoles, while he whipped up amazing meals and drinks; all with a bright smile and fast responsiveness to every question we could ask.
If you haven't been yet, I can't recommend Super Smash Café enough!
Took my Nephew here for his birthday, since we are both into video games. Was impressed by the wide variety of games, good food, beverages, and very friendly and helpful staff. Will very likely be returing in the near future.
The place was outstanding! Brought my kids in there and they were able to enjoy it very well! We are going to bring more of our friends kids and enjoy spending time with friends while our kids are playing in their lounge.
This place was a lot of fun and holds a really wholesome community of people who love games of all kind. The food was good and affordable with large servings, the staff were amazing and the other costumers were all friendly. 10/10 would go again.
Spectacular espresso! Best coffee I've had in Calgary; his sandwiches are awesome too! Super Smash Cafe had a friendly and inviting atmosphere, the owner is extremely kind and accommodating. They have every game console and wide selection of games! If you're in the area you must visit!
Stopped in to check it out and wow just wow. Great concept. Amazing food. Quality service. Highly recommend checking it out. Bring a friend to battle with on the big screens as they have all the gaming systems!
Friendly staff. The hot dogs were great! It sounds like they will be adding more games soon so that will be interesting. We played COD black ops zombies.
This is such a good business. I remember one time after my class at SAIT. I went with a few of my friends there. When I paid and left. After a few hours my friend messaged me and said my bill bounced because their internet crashed. So I went to pay the next day and they said they told me not to worry about the payment.
Super Smash Cafe has easily become my favourite weekend spot in Calgary. The collection of games, consoles, and accessories is unmatched. There is something for everyone. The vibe is a perfect mix of living room gaming, with a community space - takes the best of both spaces to make something truly special.
And the food! It's genuinely fantastic!
Everything on menu is filling, reasonably priced, and all made in house fresh to order.
I haven't had the pleasure of trying all the offerings yet. However, every order on each visit has been consistantly fabulous.
The milkshakes are a real treat and honestly worth a trip for themselves. Additionally, Super Smash Cafe's burger was easily the best burger I have had in Calgary in almost a decade. (And I have eaten my fair share of burgers, believe me.)
The staff are wonderfully responsive and hospitable too! They were eager to make our visit the best it could be every time. That rockstar duo managed the front, helped us with the games and consoles, while they whipped up those amazing meals; all with a bright smile and fast responsiveness to every ask we could make.
Seriously, Super Smash Cafe - you have a real asset in your weekend team!
It's all the small things that marked great care taken with the space of the Cafe, such as:
-Offering table-service when food was ready (so you don't have to pause your game to pick up your order) -Well-spaced couches which allowed for a natural-seeming while restrictions-respecting social distancing layout -The consoles around the room all set up and ready to go (which sparked interest in trying new games together with friends), etc. -The mix of menu items. There are the filling entrees (I can get a real meal and don't need to fill up on snacks or junk food), and also well-sealed drinks (milkshakes, frappes, bubble teas, etc) that you can easily sip at in between rounds on the couches while you play. (This was obviously designed with intention by someone who has done a lot of marathon gaming themselves and I definitely appreciate them preempting that need for both!)
Honestly I have no personal or professional affiliation with this business. It really is just that good and masterfully fills a niche I have dreamed of for decades.
If you haven't been yet, I can't recommend Super Smash Cafe enough!
The kids loved this place. They played video games in the comfy couches while we waited for food. If you are Venezuelan, you will recognize the hot dog and burger style from the food trucks back home. The pizza was not great but good enough for the kids. There is no parking except for street parking
The staff are super friendly and the food is fantastic! Get the peptio! It's so good! I literally stopped eating to write this review, I needed to share how good it is! I see more peptios in my future!
Today I had a flash back to the popular calle del hambre (the hungry street) in my country.come to super Smash Cafe and you won't be disappointed. If you want to have a unic experience ask for the Pepito oh my good. Very good service! Venezuelan Hamburger
The hours of this place kinda bugs me, it not open often and not long enough. Otherwise I love the coffee and am thinking about bringing my sons here for his birthday since it might be cheaper then gaming truck. I just wish they open early and 7 days a week. Plus this is the place I go to for my coffee in the morning that is near my place, I use to live next to Vendome which has the same coffee brand.
I've yet to have anything close to a bad experience here.the food is great, the owner is very nice and outgoing, and its always a fun and friendly environment
The young man who worked here decided it was okay to overcharge me. I bought a Donair, that the week before cost me 8$ and this time cost me 9$. Even on their menu it lists as $8. Not Impressed.
This joint is amazing. The burgers have authentic Venezuelan taste, and the hot dogs are unique, will not find anything equal in Calgary. These guys really put attention to the details in the food and your taste buds will tell guaranteed. The portions are also really satisfying for the cost. Definitely will make this a regular place for me! If you are into gaming, this place will be clutch in a post-pandemic world.
My husband and I came here with my niece and nephew (8 and 12 years old) in search for a fun quality afternoon activity while snowy and cold outside. I’m not a gamer so I was just going to hang out. I was surprised with THE BEST Latte in the city! We had a great time here while my husband, nephew and niece enjoyed some gaming quality time, and I enjoyed my delicious latte and on-line browsed for Xmas gifts ideas:) This place is a win for all of us. We’ll be back.
I've had nothing but great experiences at this place. The owner always remembers us when we come in, making it a really comfortable environment right off the bat, plus he has ALL the games for nearly every game system. They also have the best grilled cheese which just makes the experience here even better:) if you're looking for an inexpensive night out or just to game with some of your favourite people, DEFINITELY give this place a go.
I meet awesome peoples there, amazing service and the quality of the TVs are incredible and don't forget the tournaments that's the best part, because I figth agains crazy peoples and peoples then I will not going to forget. I will never forget this awesome place I love everyone and everything there thanks mighty guin and Galen u two guys are the best I hope I can Comeback for having more fun and figths, see ya later guys I love you!
Awesome atmosphere at the cafe. Very inviting and hard to have bad time here. Plenty of games to try and great service. Moe does a great job of being a business owner and your pal when you visit, whether it be serving you a fresh coffee or playing some rounds with you. Would definitely recommend paying a visit if you haven't already!
The staff is super friendly and even willing to play some games with you in their off time. There's a CRT for melee and 64 and plenty of other games to play other than smash. The coffee is great too. Would definitely go back
This is in a great location (being within walking distance of both the SAIT/AUArts/Jubilee LRT station and the SAIT Max Orange station), and they have a great variety of games on their original hardware (ESPECIALLY for the N64). (When I first went there was actually the first time that I've ever played Super Smash Brothers Melee for example.) The main cons are that the location is a bit small and they lack pop variety. Other than those two gripes, this is actually a great place, and I recommend you go there if you want to play some video games.
Really cool place. They have couches set up and lots of different game consoles. A variety of games to play with your friends. A good place for a party as well. They also have rock band and all the instruments. They serve a few snacks and drinks. Some of their controllers are getting worn, but that comes with the situation, they must replace them somewhat regularly.
90s kid approved! I felt nostalgic playing Mario party on n64. The man who helped us out/set us up, was so accommodating and polite. Everything was clean, couches were comfortable, the amount of games to choose from is overwhelming! Very easy to spend hours here, will be back for sure.
Super fun place to hang out with friends! They have pretty much any Nintendo game you can think of, and it was fun to play some of the more obscure ones. Will definitely be back
I found Super Smash Cafe to be disappointing. The drinks and food are overpriced and additionally, the cafe's N64 uses emulator cartridges. It is a safer bet to go to Starbucks with a Switch.
This is my new favourite cafe! It's got a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The coffee is really good, there's a wide selection of videogames (both old and new), and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Definitely stop by if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed A+
I've been waiting for this place to open for a while, and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. They seem well organized, everything is tracked automatically and you can just settle once you're all done. They have a decent selection of consoles (Xbox, ps4, Wii U, Gamecube and Switch of course). It seems like a good spot to take a few friends (you could get up to 4 on one of their couches) and have some fun with new games or classics. Will visit again for sure
Super neat experience. Very friendly staff and just genuinely kind people that you can tell are passionate about gaming. Went in and played some game cube. System worked very well and had a great time. Will definitely be bringing friends in the future.
Would definitely recommend going here, tons of games awesome staff and a great atmosphere to just kick it with some friends and play a few games. Hopefully they bring some pc's in and set up a plan corner. It's worth it to check it out!
Great place to stop by and play Super Smash. Also great for any other videogame needs! I can't wait for one day to have this be a weekly stop for me to play videogames! Super humble owners and vibes are the best!
Nice friendly staff. Cozy environment, liked the decor too. Pretty good for just having opened recently. Smash bros obviously needs no reviews, I just hope they add more to their collection of games/characters.
I had such a great time at Super Smash Cafe. I went in on opening day and a few more times since.
It was crazy busy inside but it didn’t stop the staff and owners from greeting everyone that came through the doors in a timely manner and providing some of the best customer service in Calgary.
I had an Americano and a cinnamon bun with my Nintendo 54. Definitely need to brush up on my skills, which means I’ll be back!
YYC, check this place out. It’s so cozy and it feels like you’re at home playing with friends and family.
