Modern cards marked as NM are really really good condition and pretty much flawless!
One jumbo card (Marked as NM) I bought had tons of scratches, but that is understandable as it is bigger and harder maintain and sleeve.
The other older (2015) and more expensive card marked as NM have a lot of visible scratches. It is also understandable because different people have different opinion on card condition. Called the store, the staff said to report the issue to the owner. Contacted the owner about this issue to maybe have a replacement/refund/partial refund through email multiple times and did not get any response at all. The package initial had some problems being delivered, the owner did help on that tho.
If you are buying modern singles, I would say it's really great! But for older cards, might be a gamble. The thing I did not like was there was no response from the store through email.
Adorable games cafe in Callingwood, which is severely lacking any cafes besides McDonalds. Super friendly staff. Lots of fun trinkets. The bathrooms are super clean and even stocked with free menstrual products.
My son was so excited to visit this little gem, he is Pokémon obsessed. It was his one requested for this Edmonton trip after finding a TikTok video. A lot of selection for cards, in all price ranges, and he bought some nice ones. Some really nice merchandise as well. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. I had the best London Fog (can’t remember the Pokémon name of the drink). Friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Went there with my boyfriend. The plqce was very dirty grimy and dusty. There were dead wasps in the window sill. I ordered a baked good and the women working the register pulled it out of the box and put it on a plate and started walking over to give it to me and this other teenage boy behind the till leaned his face so close to it to smell it that he almost touched it with his nose. Practically just shoved his face into it. They were not wearing masks. I got very sick from covid this year and was almost instantly in tears but my boyfriend was really looking forward to seeing this place so I didn't say anything. There should be some sanitary measures when dealing with food always. Was a really bad experience in general. It's like if you ordered food in a restaurant and the waitress sneezes in it and then hands it to you.but this teenager did it on purpose. Gross. I just don't understand why?
Went in for the first time tonight and was very excited to check it out. The girl who took our order and made our drinks was really sweet and attentive but seemed to be the only one that cared that we were there. There was 4 or 5 teens hanging out behind the card counter that ignored us, one of whom was weighing Lost Abyss booster packs on the counter… They seemed more concerned about the pizza they were ordering to eat after the shop closed. We’ll try coming back another time, but honestly the pack weighing makes me hesitant on buying tcg products.
Swirl has one of the best staff when it comes to friendliness and welcoming, when It comes to the gimic of pokemon I'd say it's tye best for the card game and franchise lovers. Every Tuesday and Thursday they have a tcg branded event where any can come and play with their peers
I never write reviews but WOW this place is my new favorite café.
They are super inclusive and feels like a safe space for anyone in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. They have exclusively gender neutral washrooms with free period products in each. I was blow away to see it!
The staff is amazingly friendly and very well versed in Pokémon!
I had the iced machiato with caramel syrup and it was fantastic.
Drinks were delicious and creative. Had ordered the Jigglypuff juice and Snorlax drink. Ice cream had plenty of options to choose from and a great selection of board games to choose from.
Drinks are great and the inside eating area is super nice, but the staff are not very pleasant. Every time I go I have to stand at the ordering area and wait for someone from their huddle of 5-6 workers who stand in the pokémon area to come over so I can order. Every staff interaction I have had so far made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, like I was interrupting their conversations just by trying to order. Hopefully the staff gets better customer service training as I do enjoy their drinks.
Very evidently a passion project to bring Pokémon lovers across the city together. From the decor, the business logo, the names of menu items, to the merch available and Pokémon card displays, the café radiates love for Pokémon.
I went on Labour Day around noon and it was packed. There was no space to sit and enjoy my drink or play any board games. Inevitably the cafés popularity is limited by physical space.
I tried the Trainer's Treat drink-it has coca cola, lemon, and coconut syrup. The coconut is strong and overpowers the lemon flavour but all in all it was a neat combination.
I would've loved to sit down and enjoy the ambience and the whole game café side of things more but it wasn't worth it to hang around until a table became free.
A pokemon cafe! Great service friendly staff great milkshakes! I was unable to try any baked goods as they sold out fast: o was also very busy but was a fun place with loads of cards to buy, well until they sold out again. They buy cards too and they buy in bulk! Not sure if they match prices or give a set price as I didn't have the opportunity to ask. They also have boardgames you can freely play! I'm hoping next time I go there will be more bakery items available. Thursday is also league night so they get busy around 6pm.
Swirl Cafe exceeded our expectations as a cafe and a card store. The inside is very pleasing to look at, clean and modern. The staff are extremely professional and friendly. Personally tried the Gengar’s purple poison, and it was delicious. The store made us feel very welcome, and we are very excited to come back again in the future.
Omg, so much fun for our children. They loved it bought lots of cards from the quarter machines, bought some sets too. This place was packed. People sharing Pokémon cards and playing games. Needs a little work on the athstetics, but it's new.
Really enjoyed the ambiance and friendliness of the staff at Swirl! They have a good collection of board games as well. I'd say this is surely my new favourite café, will be coming back to try some more beverages and desserts on their menu and more games!
Incredibly busy! The Cafe was clean and staff were doing their best to accommodate everyone's needs. Most low cost merch was sold out and they were out of ice cream.
I went with my older sister and it was genuinely such a lovely experience. Both of us were Pokemon Fans and the cafe was perfect. Adorable decorations, fantastic atmosphere!
The staff was so kind, specialty drinks were delicious and affordable.
I would love to come back and try their sweets! I cannot reccomend them more!
What a neat little place the combines a cafe, pokemon and board games!
The staff are EXTREMELY welcoming and it's clear that time has been spent to create a quirky, enjoyable and thematic setting. Drinks are creative fun and taste great. I was pleasently suprised to see it was dog friendly and conveniently located across the street from an off leash park. Makes for a great place to get out of the heat and rehydrate yourself and your furry friend. Highly recommended and hope to see more awesome things come out of this local shop!
Swirl Cafe has quickly become one of our favorite places. Pokemon cards, board games, great coffee, local and even dog friendly! #westedmonton #pokemon
We had so much fun here! Bringing my kids to share the love of Pokemon. The drinks were decent and the atmosphere was nice. The cute little scavenger hunt they had was awesome.
