Swiss Donair

This place has very good service, the lady that takes the orders is very friendly and really knows her stuff. Also these donairs are delicious.

Our family loves coming here - by far thee best donair shop in Edmonton. If you've yet to try it do yourself a favor and go! Staff is so friendly and helpful. -5 stars

The food here is really good. The order I normally get is a Super Donair and a Donair Poutine. There are different grades of Donair meat that can be ordered by donaor shops. Most order the cheaper logs, but you can tell by the taste that they order at least the mid cost/grade meat logs.

During most of the Pandemic, the staff wore masks, but now at the current stage of the pandemic -as of the timestamp of this review-, I've only seen one staff member consistently wearing a mask still. Kudos to her.

My only complaint is they are closed on Sundays, and civic holidays. A reduced hour open would be nice or even a sign of some sort that states they are closed on civic holidays. I've had to find out the inconvenient way of arriving to the store, expecting to get delicious food, only to find the store closed.

I’ve been eating at Swiss for years upon years and it has been a long long time since I came and ate in restaurant but today my boyfriend and I had set aside the time to come as a treat and eat in. Sadly the sweet sauce on mine was so cold that the rest of the donair was cold throughout which made it unenjoyable. And my boyfriend’s chicken donair somehow accidentally got wrapped in a way that the paper was folded in underneath the pita. We still ate cause we were hungry after waiting all day and they were busy so we didn’t want to go up and complain or anything. Unfortunate experience from a place I’ve virtually grown up eating at.

I order from this place all the time as a tall guy the biggest donairs fill me up pretty good and a poutine portions are awesome i highly recommend this place

The Swiss burger you make is one of the best I have ever had on the planet. 2 juicy beef patties and the beef donair in it is a completely different story. Too bad I ordered just one last time. Very good poutine and beef donairs too. Keep it up and God bless.

My friend had recommended this place as he had high remarks. I was very impressed with the donair wrap but the fries seemed stale and didn’t have much to offer in comparison to the wrap.

I figure I try this place out since I heard good things. What a mistake. The sauce drips so much that half the Pita was too soggy to even try and enjoy the meal. Threw away like more than 60% of the portion. I tried to finish it because I was so hungry after work but the soggy Pita just made it disgusting. Never again.

It was a foot long, 4 inches in diameter and made entirely of meat. I put it all in my mouth. Yummmmmmm

Huge sizes! Get a regular no cheese extra pickles turnips and enjoy. Fries are great! Amazing service for a place that can be PACKED at busy times, so be patient.

I've been going since I can remember as a kid, it's me and my family's favorite donair spot in Edmonton. I've tried other places but none of them beat Swiss, they just become the donair we get on Sundays. Have never had a bad experience, even on busy days and the staff have always done well by me.

Usually a great place, I ordered a jumbo beef and jumbo chicken.the chicken donair was 1/3 the size of the beef donair.feeling a little ripped off

Actually to much meat and therefore not enough toppings. Also found it a bit dry. The spice of the meat is awesome.

Purchased 2 large donairs and medium fries. Unfortunately the donair meat was dry, overcooked, so disappointing.
I don't mind paying for takeout food, however I'm getting so frustrated with supporting local then to get it home and the food is sub quality. Anyway fries were good.
Food prep guys don't wear gloves or hair covers. I don't care if you wash hands regularly. You still touch stuff regularly in-between and when preparing food you have a responsibility of a higher level of sanitation.

Decent Donairs. I do however wish they used actual cheese curds in their poutine.

That said, no donair shop seems to go all the way with poutines.

It was soooo good! The food took literally 5 minutes to be ready (we didn’t order in advance), it was so fresh and so delicious

Swiss Donair serves the best tasting donairs in Edmonton, the poutine is also great!
Portion size and value for money are second to none.
I would certainly recommend anyone who enjoys this type of cuisine to pay it a visit.

Kids donair size is pretty big for kid size! Surprised for once.
Wings were sauced up well. Cooked and tasty. Regular average wings in terms of meatyness.

Staff needs couple sessions at Kumon, ordered on skip with no onions, and no sauce - they wrote no onions and no sauce on the wrapper yet put onions and sauce. Kumon

Excellent donairs, the team effort that you see these people do to prepare your food is amazing! The volume of customer they serve make you wait a bit, but it is well worth it!

Donair is awesome. My favorite is with garlic sauce and cayenne pepper. Friendly staff. Ramadan now over, back to very busy but other the wait.even better, call ahead.

I do not know what this establishment and the donair has got to do with Switzerland but "man-oh-man" do they know how to make the donair.

The beef is perfectly seasoned, sliced not too thin nor too thick (very Goldilock-ish) that gives it the perfect texture. The sweet sauce has the write consistency and pairs superbly well with the beef. And now the best part, something I cannot appreciate enough - The way they wrap their donair. The donair is wrapped so tightly, and is so densely pack with deliciousness, it is a joy to bite into it without making a mess (well, until you reach the last little bit). The generous portion of beef they put in there - You end up shi****** a cow that evening.

Heard nothing but rave reviews online so I had to try it out.

The good:
-large portions
-good sweet sauce
-can actually taste the cheese in the cheese donair

The medium:
-prices are a bit high
-out of the way (for me anyway)

The bad:
-pita was soft and chewy
-few vegetables
-not Roma's Pizza and Donair in Petrolia

Food was ok only because fries tasted like they sat under a warmer for awhile. Staff ignored my family and let 2 people order ahead of us. They were rude and I tried handing them money to pay and completly ignored me and my money. If it wasn't for my starving kids that were set on Donairs I would have walked out. I'll go somewhere else next time these people don't care if they have customers.

You did me wrong for the last time. You used to be my go to donair place but it's gone downhill. I have to walk away.

I think I've tried all the other donair shops in the north east and I keep coming back to Swiss.
They're my favorite and so consistent, at some shops the meat tastes different every time you go or the sauce changes but not here and I value that excellence and consistency.

Awesome and Delicious. Fresh food and ingredients. Great friendly and fast service. Prices are reasonable. Has parking in plaza and was easy to get to. A definite recommend, best donair's we've had in the prairies.deliciously messy just the way it is suppose to be.

Was my first time at Swiss and won't be my last. It was packed but our donairs we're ready faster than any other donair restaurant I've ever been to. On top of being ready quickly they were delicious. The meat had the perfect amount of crunch and spice, the sauce was sweet plentiful and the donair was wrapped perfectly. Will definitely be back.

I've been there about 5 or 6 times over the past 12 years and it was awful. After those visits, i had Swiss Donair ranked amongst the worst 3 donairs that I have ever had. I never reviewed it then because I believe in giving a place some reasonable chances. I went back today promising to give them one more chance and here is my impression: it was unbe-freggi-lievable. I ordered the regular with cheese and sweet sauce; it was stuff-packed with meat and flavor-i mean absolutely jam-packed. Each bite seemed to melt in my mouth while telling a story: I have never had a donair with such fine plot-this donair stands in a category of it's own. Here is to hoping for consistency.

Outstanding, being from Halifax, Swiss is on par with Tony's and KOD (King of Donair). Always busy and never wait too long. Always a treat, and the ladies behind the counter are always on the ball and smiling.

Been a monthly or a weekly customer for over 10 years. Best donair in the Canada. Staff is always happy and usually ask how the food was after finishing it.

Delicious donairs. Long line ups too. I guess that is evidence it's good, and the awards the place won shown on their walls to back it up too. Their fries are straight cut, good darker colour and spiced right so it's delicious too. Although, if they did crinkle cut fries like most donair shops, it would have been 5 stars.

I ate many donairs in Edmonton and swiss donair is the best in the city.

I would occasionally come here and the donair would be one of the best i've ever tasted, but recently, they have been missing items, decreasing meat size so it tastes like only lettuce and bread. I used to love going here and i enjoyed the food, but clearly, it has downgraded a lot.

I went to get my donair from you guys yesterday holyyyy cow was it busy I'm so glad I ordered half n hour before pick up as there was no room to get in for pick up. I've gotta say you live up to the size standards of a super donair. Because every time I ordered a super donair from any other place it'd be exact same to the regular. The super size donair is perfect for somebody craving a jumbo but not wanting to be overfilled with a perfect size proportion to the regular so you're not too hungry either. I gotta say wow your guys meat is seasons to out of this world! And also your meat isn't chunky gross and under spiced like other places as well it was so thinly and deliciously spiced. The sweet sauce kept dripping I couldn't get enough of it although there was one problem I asked for more veggies then meat but I got the opposite which is okay because the donair meat was bomb. Your donairs are definitely filling and best in town! So worth the drive from the south for your donairs. I'll be back️

Ordered a Donair with sweet sauce and it seemed abnormally wet? Which was disgusting so I untwirled the bottom of it to drain out the sauce and about 60mL of sweet sauce just pours out of the donair and all over my pants, I ordered a donair with literally 1 thing, how can you f that up? Just go to top donair right next door, don’t waste your time.

If looking for donairs, you won't be disappointed. Their poutine has delicious melted cheese and savoury gravy. Even the burgers are sure to satisfy. There's not many tables to eat in store, but their service is so quick, take out is so easy. If ordering a combo, you can either grab the drinks from the fridge before or after paying.

This is my favourite Donair shop in Edmonton! Friendly staff and true bang for your buck. Their Jumbo Donair will more than fill the average person, so make sure you're hungry enough for the challenge!

Really good food. Nothing fancy but really good. I sometimes in my reviews would put a note saying this place is good compared to lack of competition in Edmonton, this place in fact well do well anywhere.
The chicken shawarma / chicken tawooq, is probably the best in town. Their burger is super. If you get fries, make sure to ask for the garlic sauce.
