Food was very good, the person who served us yong was very rude I didn’t like his attitude at all. When I called the restaurant one day before to reserve the table for 7 they told that we could use the 4 Groupon. But when we went in to restaurant the person who served us was very trouble.
The food was good but the customer service was terrible. Our server “yong”was so so mean to us. We went in a group of 7…not sure why he discriminated us so badly.
When we called to reserve a table they told us clearly they would take any number of Groupon coupons but when we went to the place his voice was so arrogant I couldn’t believe it. He treated us like as if he’s giving his food for free. We’ve been to so many restaurants in Edmonton but never experienced worst customer service like him. He was passive aggressive, fake sincerity and people could clearly see this. If he was mean to everybody I would assume maybe he’s going through some hard times but he was so nice to other customers behind us.
I only reason I’m writing was when I asked the other girl (server) about him and told her wish he could be nice when we’re leaving she went and told him about it and they both were literally looking and laughing at us. Won’t return to this place again. 100% not recommended!
The pad Thai here had a bit of a different flavour than I'm used to, I wasn't sure at first but then I couldn't stop eating it! The rest of the food we tried was great as well, especially liked the green curry. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and made time for us even though they were really busy. It was a great experience for my first time there!

Not the service we're accustomed to at Syphay. Waitress needs training; reluctant to take drinks order 1st then food order. Provided 4 of the 5 drinks. Forgot one then had us wait 20 minutes for our food order. At least 10 minutes between first person's dish and last person's. Still the best food in town. Rollie
Visiting the area from Toronto and my research told me that this was the best Thai food around - definitely did not disappoint. Ordered the salad rolls and panang curry with coconut rice. Server was incredibly kind and accommodating. The food was served really quickly and was absolutely delicious! Such bright and fresh flavours. An overall amazing experience!
Food is mediocre with small portion sizes. Service is terrible, no water refills and not checking up on our table. I booked a reservation and our table was not ready, no high chairs as asked for. When asked for high chairs once arriving, nothing was provided, we had to get it ourselves. Passive aggressive, fake sincerity. People can see through this. Atmosphere is decent with decor providing a decent ambience. There is dirt here and there, but the washrooms are a disaster. Urinal out of order, old equipment and everything looks unpleasant and dirty.
They were mopping with bleach when we were still dining, extremely rude and a health hazard to small children. Not to mention someone could have slipped. I think they want to get sued, not to bright these people.
The "women" here should be absolutely ashamed of themselves from this appalling service, we had two small children with us. Disgusting.
Prob best Thai food I’ve had in a very long time! Food has so much flavour, huge portions and the staff are super friendly everytime! I’ll never stop going here!
I was apprehensive about ordering from here again because last time I did, they forgot to include a dish in the order, but everyone deserves a second chance right? This time when we called, we were given "the next available time for pick up is at 7: 30" but had to wait 20 mins past that. Upon bringing the order home, we realized they had forgotten to include the rice we had ordered. This meant after spending $70 for take out, we still had come home and make rice before we could eat our food. The pad Thai was good but the pad ped moo, although nice and spicy was SO salty (definitely needed that rice) and the gang dang curry lacked flavor. I really wanted to like this place but I won't be returning.
I’ve gone here several times this past year, and have been eating at both of Syphay’s locations since 2011 (including the new Calgary Trail) and the downtown location has been disappointing the past few times I’ve been. This time I found everything to be quite bland, although we ordered medium spice (and I’m white! So coming from someone who’s ancestors ate cabbage and potatoes), the Pad Thai, Gai Tod and Panag curry were flavourless. It’s disappointing that the dt location has been so hit and miss.
The food was inedible. I ordered the Pad thai, and the thing had any sauce in it. It was dry almost like, just boiled noodles no seasoning. Just boiled noodle for $23? !? I also ordered the Tom Kha soup, that tasted super bland. There was a time their food used to be amazing, after having today’s order, it is almost hard to believe that it is from the same restaurant. Too bad quality, too dissapointed.
