This incident comes from picking an online order made, in store, which was partially refunded due to inventory. This wasn't entirely processed however and an extra card was checked as "missing" but not refunded. The clerk offered a refund in store but neither he or anyone he had asked knew how to properly refund to a debit/credit POS, which was just disappointing to witness. Ended up doing the payout as cash but the lack of communication at that time makes me question if it's worth it to order online to potentially have half my transaction refunded since inventory isn't updated.
Over the last few months there's been a few other localized incidents I've encountered while at Taps, including customer acknowledgment in line and attitude/arrogance when asking questions/concerns which has made it uncomfortable and unwelcome as of late. I won't discredit staff's knowledge of merchandise, community events or service to those who regularly *DO* deal business with Taps - but as a walk-in customer, it's a shame to be brushed off due to communication error.
Fantastic shopping and customer service experience. They have an extensive array of items and both Brett and Jeff are always super helpful and knowledgeable on which paints to purchase for what you need. These guys will be my goto hobby store from now on! Their online store is also a breeze to use as well. If you have a question just call and ask, they are awesome at picking up the phone.
Nice staff. Just really over priced on pretty much any pokemon product. Understandable that every business needs to make money but they get 3 stars for thier prices/trade values
I occasionally visit Taps for friday night commander and found tonight was prerelease and so not much commander activity. However, there was one table unused by the event and already had a few commander players and so they invited us to join. There was a chair short and so I was going to just sit on a highstool but the patron beside me was kind enough to ask the staff if another chair was available. The staff asked whether it was for commander or prerelease and declined to provide a chair since it was for commander. So stool for me. A different staff member later kindly brought a chair which I appreciated.
Shortly after, the previous worker asks the table to leave because they need it for prerelease. One of the existing players responded that a previous employee said we could use this table as it wasn't needed for prerelease, and didn't have any numbered placards indicating it was used for the event. So the worker leaves without asking us to leave but the player makes sure to offer to just let us know to leave if the table is needed.
Finally, and this is the interaction that caused the previous two interactions to come into focus, we ask the worker who was acting as a judge for the event if he'd be able to provide a ruling on an interaction. He refuses because he "hates commander and refuses to provide rulings for the format"
I've encountered rude employees. But I've never encountered an employee on a deliberate campaign to make a group of customers feel unwelcome because of his own petty personal feelings that have nothing to do with us as people.
Bought my first 40k combat patrol from here, and when I asked about painting, 1 of the employees took some time to explain the nuances. Now I'm back there once a month. Great atmosphere great employees great place!
I was very impressed with the look and feel of the store. The main store is on the first floor and there's a play area for tournaments on the second floor. They have snacks and drinks available as well. I like how they have their card stock set up and the fact that they have laptops set up for people to browse what cards they have in stock and submit an order.
Great place for Pokemon cards and it looks like lots of other games as well. I placed an online order but when I got there part of it wasn't in stock, so I replaced the item with something similar and they gave me another item for free just for my troubles. Great customer service! Will keep going here.
Customer service is lacking. No help when asking a question. I ordered 3x through Taps and every time, each order has taken 1.5-2 months to arrive. Considering I only live 2.5hrs away.
Truly question if my orders are being shipped when they claim to have shipped them.
Wonderful store! Every staff member is always helpful and friendly! I 100% reccomend this store to anyone looking for DND, MTG, Warhammer, flesh & blood, pokemon, yugioh, dragon ball.
I've came many times to this store but after todays experince with my friend i cannot say that i 100% suggest this store unless you need magic, DND and Warhammer related products their great for those products but today i had a very saddening experience i brought a friend in for their first time in the store and we both had lists to trade in i was able to get my store credit like it was nothing no big deal there (i had a magic the gathering trade in) my friend who also was approved for the trade in was trading in pokemon cards, When we arrived the lady told us she was a pokemon expert knew everything about pokemon, and she had told my friend that she will have it done shortly and it wont be long, she ended up going for her break so we went to ikea for about a hour and a half but when she got back it seemed like she didnt actually take the time to process said order so when we came back from ikea my friend had asked very politely if they could process her order as we drove a hour just to get there and the clerk behind the till austin was super helpful and friendly and able to help us with everything we needed, but when we had seen the lady who was the "pokemon expert" she was leaving and walked right past us and said "oh where you guys waiting the whole time" and then proceeded to walk out to a cab and leave this was very infuriating due to the fact it seemed like she intentionally said this to us in passing.its also extremely saddening that i tell my friend this is a really good store i've never had any issues with it their super LGBTQ+ friendly. Then when i do bring them into the store this was her first experience, this is extremely dissapointing just simply due to the employee's comment and unfriendly demeanor. But this experience has soured me from suggesting this store for anything but DND, MTG or Warhammer related
This is without a doubt the best LGS in Edmonton for MTG and Pokémon. Absolutely enormous selection of single cards and very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
This is a friendly, tidy shop focussed on games and gamers. From snacks to paint supplies for figurines, it has everything for games and accessories. The DnD section is current and well stock, and there's Warhammer and MtG out the wazoo. What Taps is not: a dank, disorganized mess overseen by surly nerds who epitomize "comic book guy. " Parents: you can go here and get what will make them happy, and not feel lost (and probably come out with something of interest for yourself). Cool shop. Worth visiting if you're into games (and obscure junk food, because there's a lot of that too).
Great store to get anything Games Workshop or Magik the Gathering! Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the hobbies. They also helped me out alot when it came to all my weird random Questions! I'd recommend them.
Like every time I go in I find something else I love about the place the staff is always impeccable. The products they have theire are remarkable with such a large verity magic the gathering and dungen and dragon no wonder they are one of the only wizards of the coast premium stores in the city
This place is a hidden Gem, atleast for me. I drive almost 2 hours for my TCG needs. The prices are amazing, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I might be biased, because on my first visit I pulled a Charizard VMAX.
Aside from gaming, like I said before, the staff are just super fun to chat with
I feel rather conflicted about this one. I have been to their shop a few times and their service varies GREATLY depending on whats going on. One day when the person at the counter is actually there they will be extremely helpful find what card you want, answer your questions and you'll be in and out in no time HOWEVER I would have to say there have been FAR to many times where the person working the counter will be playing a game with someone and COMPLETELY ignore you as if they are expecting you to ask a question when their in the middle of a game putting the customer in an awkward situation where it almost feels like you're a nucence at the time more then anything. There has also been 3 times where ive asked if they can get an ultra pro mat in with the first time taking my phone # down saying they will call and let me know and the other 2 were just me passing by asking for an update while in to get a card or 2 and they have nothing on it. Its actually personally very hard for me to recommend someone to go here because of the varied service ive gotten and they are reaching my so many strike rule and your out before I cross them off the list of places not to go.
