I have been here in Canada for 2 years, and I try 5-6 salons in Calgary. And there is no doubt that this is the best one. The owner is a legend, he could have all the thoughts by a tough of your hair. And he had all the skill and taste to change hair beautifully. On top of that, all of his group members are also full-skilled, in my experience. They will take care of your hair from the basics.

Hassan is amazing. I was trying to grow out my hair for years and I’d be hitting up all the fancy barber shops and everytime I asked for just a cleanup and told them I was growing my hair out they’d give me the same darn fade on the sides and cut off all my growth. Hassan listened understood and on top of that is such a delight to talk with when I’m in getting a “clean up”

Absolutely immaculate service done by Mark. It was my first time going to get a Perm done in Calgary and I couldn't ask for anyone better to have done it. I will be returning here for sure and would recommend it to anyone!

I went to get my hair cut here and it looks terrible, a guy named mike immediately just got to cutting my hair and it was uneven.my bangs need to be put behind with a clip because that’s how uneven it is.i cant even put it in a ponytail without it looking wobbly because of how uneven it was.my bangs do not suit me and my hair doesn’t look how it’s supposed to be in the photo i showed mike.please do not go here unless u trust the employees there and it’s not ur first time.

Hassan was super rude on the phone when I told him isn't that treatment suppose to last at least 6 months, he started to yell and scream
The charge was also a scam because on the phone they said 200-250 and after treatment, they charged $275 plus tips
the hair cut and style which come with that were only trimmed
when I asked why the over charge he also yelled and accused me of laying.watch out when you go to this salon

I saw your message to remind me to visit the salon, but I regret coming to you because I did not get the required thing. Otherwise, I paid more. The girl needed experience, and when I asked her about not getting the desired color, she was surprised and said I do not know.

Best priced waxing in the city and a good job every time! I've been coming to Avalon for waxing for a few years now and I keep coming back because of the excellent service, easy online booking, and exceptional price.

Going elsewhere will have you paying double or triple the price for a lackluster/ sometimes uncomfortable job. Avalon uses waxes and techniques that are less painful than a lot of places I've been to. I highly recommend!

I went into Avalon with extremely long hair (+24 inches), so finding the right barber for my first cut in about 6 years was very important. Hassan was recommended from a few friends and he cut my hair exactly how I wanted. Every trip back he listens to any changes I may want and checks in on how I like my hair throughout the cut. All the staff is super personable. The Salon is clean and easy to access.

I have only been to Avalon 3 times but after my first visit, I was so pleased that I decided to make it my regular salon. I have got haircuts, color and hair keratin with Mallory. The owner and staff are super welcoming and will really understand what you want to deliver the best. They take the time to know you and show hospitality by offering a beverage. Highly recommended

I got waxing done with Avalon. I have sensitive skin. Extra care was taken to make sure that my skin is not bruised much during waxing.

Hassan it has been my hairstylist for almost 10 years now. He basically changed the way I live my life these days by being understanding with how I want to look, but improving my ideas. Each haircut has its own moment and personality and you can tell he knows exactly what he’s doing. I know he constantly upgrades his education.
The Salon it’s also greatly owned by the family; his mom and dad are always kind and responsive as well as professionals.
We’ve developed a synergy that works really well with the looks I want to try. I would even come from another city to have a haircut with him.
Overall, I trust 100% in his art and work.

Phone and discussed a haircut. Got told to book a consultation and based off what was said, I could get a hair cut if I chose. So I booked a babysitter. Made my way over. To arrive and be told all I’m getting is a consultation and maybe a hair cut the next day. And that the lady was already squeezing me in between her appts for a consultation. I phoned and booked. Why am I being squeezed in? I booked a babysitter for today, not tomorrow. Super not impressed with the lack of communication so I just walked out. Waste of my time.

Avalon has an exceptional staff and service. I have been visiting the salon for many years and Hassan never fails to impress me. The staff is very friendly and make you feel at home. Hassan is very talented and I trust his opinion entirely. I look forward to appointments always. I recommend Avalon to all family and friends!

Really friendly and professional salon. First time being at the salon and first time to truly love my hair cut. Lots of advice how to keep my hair healthy.

Asked for a toner but Hassan advised that a semi permanent colour is the same thing and would wash out in a couple of months without leaving a root grow out, I agreed to it. Several months later I noticed my roots coming in and although much faded, still a definite root grow out, I did research and found that the colour may have not been fading as I was using a colour safe shampoo and conditioner, so I switched to a clarifying shampoo. Fast forward a couple more months and although further faded, still a definite root grow out. I got a maintenance haircut at another salon yesterday and asked how to get rid of the remaining colour. The hairstylist told me that if it was semi permanent it would have completely washed out already so what was used on my hair was not semi permanent.

I then called and spoke with Hassan who was very defensive, rude and found the fact I was calling 4-5 months after my appointment ridiculous. He offered me a discount on a colour service which I was not looking for as I didn’t want to keep treating my hair with colour. He said that there’s always a risk of a colour not fading even if semi permanent which he did not think to mention before putting it on my hair. He then began raising his voice and when I asked when he was going to look at the pictures of my hair that he asked me to send, he said that this was not his priority as it was from 5 months ago, so he’ll look whenever he gets to it. I felt like crying after I ended that phone call and feel so hurt by his behaviour. Not okay for an stylist to treat a client like this after the client trusted them with their hair.

Mallory is great with hair. All staff are friendly:) I had my hair done for 2 hours but I was not bored:) Love the Aura of the place. Will definitely come back.

They are awful. I colored my hair at Avalon salon. My hair burns and falls down. I don't recommend it at all.
When I dyed (bleached) my hair, with just one hair wash, my hair color changed, and it started falling out. I paid 320$, and based on your policy, I came to your salon (less than 30 days) and told to your colleagues about it. They did not refund it.the hairdresser said that the problem is with your hair, and to prove that the problem is the weakness of your work, I brought someone else to bleach her hair, her color is changed exactly after taking a bath. The hair color changed.

Mallory was absolute magic! I made a mistake in my booking and I needed to be out in a certain time and she worked magic and I have never been happier with my hair in my entire life. She was AHMAZING

I didn’t want to write this review, but I couldn’t NOT write it. I wish I would have listened to the reviews. Went in for a wax with Randa, she is a nice lady whom prides herself in working quickly, which is true, but at the expense of what? Her work is haphazard and all over the place. She left big areas of hair and when she realized she missed spots after she applied oil to the area she didn’t even bother to fix it. I didn’t argue. I just wanted to get out of there.
Sure the prices are good. But you’re going to end up going home and finishing the job yourself. Not worth it in my opinion. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Also, seems like this is a family run business. The mom does the waxing, the father sits at the front desk, and the attitudish son cuts the hair. I was quoted a price on the phone and charged over $20 more in person, and I was made out to be the liar! Ridiculous. The 2 stars is just because i feel bad for them. Even though I was the one who got ripped off. Do better man.

FYI she does not use gloves while waxing and she double dips in the wax. When asked about this she stated that the wax was exclusively for me and to be thrown out after the appointment. But I have a feeling that’s not true. Hygienically speaking the salon is subpar.

Avalon has the best staff! Super friendly and they always remember you. Hassan is amazing at what he does, which is anything hair related. My hair, my husband's hair, my toddler's hair. We've been going here for years and it's always quality service.

Malory always does an amazing job. Honestly, best stylist I have been too. She makes my blonde highlights look so blended, no harshines so it grows out nicely and always looks exactly how I wanted. The salon is nice and clean, reasonable prices, the whole team is super nice and knows their stuff. 10/10 recommend this place!

I should have seen the red flags, appointment requested and confirmed at 5: 30 on the phone but scheduled at 5: 15. I was asked to take a robe and brush my hair myself. Mike understood a little bit of layer as a lot and the layers are not even well done. He also tried to make me believe that frizz were inevitable with curls and that people would pay 200+ dollars to get the hairstyle he did. I got home with a hood on, rinsed my hair to remove that hairstyle and cried. I’m gonna wear my hair in a ponytail until it grows back and I can fix it…

Quite possibly the worst haircut I've had. Disgrace to the hair industry in my opinion. 6 months later my hair still won't grow right and I still dislike it. Will never return, don't waste your money. Wasnt even given the style I asked for. Terrible

The staff of Avalon are nothing but friendly. I have never had a bad experience here. I am quite particular about my hair and prior to discovering Avalon I had been to multiple places to get a men’s haircut around calgary and was never quite satisfied. I’ve had 3 different people there cut my hair and although I have a normal person I go to, all three of them were exceptional. I now currently live part time in vancouver and have yet to find a place here that I like as much as Avalon. If you live in the Calgary area I would definitely recommend Avalon to any man looking for a guaranteed good haircut. I have also referred some of my female friends to Avalon for a women’s haircut and have only ever heard positive things from them as well

I have been going here to get my eyebrows waxed. Previous times I went I kept my eyes closed and didn’t notice she was double dipping the waxing stick. When I asked her she denied it, which annoyed me more. I won’t be back. Ever. Do not go here.

I have had my hair done by various members of the amazing team including Hassan who is extremely talented and does an exceptional job at cutting and colouring my hair. With his experience, I love that I can discuss ideas and get his expertise on what next to do with my hair. My once damaged hair is now healthier and shinier than ever before!

I went in wanting a new look for the new year. Hassan did a fantastic job advising me with an appropriate color to go with, and a cut that would suit my face. I'm very happy with the outcome as I went from blonde to a dark ginger. Avalon always provides me with a cut and color in such a meticulous way, that it can grow out beautifully for months ahead.

I have been going to avalon for about 4 years now, and I' ve been never been disapointed. Hassan has done my hair everytime, and he always makes sure I leave the salon happy. I have had bad experiences with other salons, but I have so much trust in Hassan that I let him do anything to my hair. Anythime I have a new idea of what to do Hassan always makes sure it is right for my skin tone and face shape which I think is very important for every hairstylist to do. I will never go to another salon ever again.
