This so called non profit run by a few rich people and a server named chris who charged elderly 75 yr old person $3.64 cents for a small hot coffee that was about 1/2 the size of a senior Mcdonald's coffee which by the way sells for @ $1.19 at Mcdonalds and HE FORCED THE LADY TO BUY THE COFFEE WHILE HE WITH HELD THE BATHROOM KEY FROM HER TILL SHE PAID FOR THE COFFEE WHILE SHE Was WRITHING IN PAIN and considered this cruel and inhuman punishment -‐-[FROM A VERY SMALL BLADDER ] yes he actually demanded that she buy something before he would give her the key to a microscopically sized bathroom with no toilet paper, smelly, dirty not capable of serving a disabled person[due to size]
They also do not believe in hiring older people!
They charge an exorbitant amount for a so called coffee house, so called non profit, that has no human consideration for elderly people or poverty issues yet they say they are humanitarian or charitable!
Who has seen their staff? , supposedly all volunteers!
where does the money go? /////not much consideration for the poor or the less advantaged.not even a senior coffee price, wow starbuck s look alike but how they dare to call themselves a nonprofit.what a joke! They should be turned in for what in all appearances is a front for fraud.
Oh and by the way their newspapers were a month old and most of their books were diabolical: mostly not fit for children. Something mighty wrong here!
I wonder what CRA would say of " no receipt" hmmmmm! Have you seen how much their board/ directors make? Shame on you for such abuse and meanness in these trying exotic times. Furthermore it is more than obvious their bathroom policy is directed to keep out the poorest of the poor I e the homeless: How cruel
How petulant
How unbecoming to a nonprofit downright

Nice cute coffee house, but way to expensive. Their large is basically a small. I got 2 coffees and 2 carrot cakes.for $27? I was shocked. Good carrot cake but man. Apparently starbucks is the cheap place now, atleast if I pay $30 for two drinks and cakes from there ill get a drink twice the size.

Quite pricey for being mainly volunteer-run and given the neighborhood demographics. Drink quality varies depending on who is working when you visit.

I love to see the local art and gaze at the cool stuff for sale. The coffee is fantastic too. Sometimes I get surprised by a lovely jam session going on. Coolest place in yeg!

Homey, community-run café with nice lattes. Also has outlets to work on your laptop. Kinda feels like grandma's house!

City Cafe with a lot going on. It has its quiet moment, and then it starts buzzing with energy of various kinds.

Quality Fine Craft items, and a variety of 2D art on the walls. They change showings about once a month I believe.

The staff are volunteers, and money earned goes to costs, not labor. It would be nice to see more description of the system and purpose of this important little hub in Alberta Avenue.

If you're lucky, your Rueben might become part of a performance piece.mine did. Exquisite paper tearing.you know who you are. Lol.

Please start getting unsweetened Macha powder?

Love The Carrot Cafe!

I did really enjoy the drink that I had from them. But I found that they are extremely overprised especially for the neighbourhood I was shocked. Maybe for downtown I would expect those kinda price. Not sure if I'll be back.

I had a small work meeting here recently and it was my first time. I loved the cozy atmosphere and the live music was so welcoming. The latte I had was rich and beautiful and the carrot muffin was moist and well spiced.

I rented the carrot as a private venue for a small bridal shower.
The cafe is adorable, and the staff are incredibly polite and accommodating!

They catered sandwiches, desserts, and coffee and everything was absolutely delicious.

Thank you so much to Marissa, Mary Ann and the entire Carrot staff!

Probably would have given them four stars but the bathrooms were so small you had to leave to change your mind. Definitely not handicap friendly.
I can't write their food as I didn't have anything to eat I just had a quick coffee.

The Carrot is one of the best places in Edmonton nobody know about. On any given day you can run into the most interesting people here. There is music, beautiful artwork from a plethora of mediums, great coffee and, of course, the best carrot cake you'll ever find.
