Brilliant experience, the food, service and atmosphere was spectacular. Highlight was definitely the dessert assortment, yum! Will absolutely be back.

We had a wonderful experience. I had never had Moroccan food before and decided to order the tour. I cant recommend this choice enough! All the dishes had exceptional flavour and the atmosphere is gorgeous.

The food here is so full of flavour, it was shocking how good everything was. I went here with a group of 6 people, 6 different dishes and all were great. The ambiance of the restaurant is well thought out and is very cozy and comfortable. I can’t wait to go back.

We were suggested this place when we asked on a social media group for a new/different restaurant to try for our anniversary!

We were blown away by how beautiful the restaurant was, dimmed with nice lighting, warm pillows and nice decorations. It felt like a mini escape from being in Calgary!

We had the Tour of Morocco which started off with a soup, salad and choice of appetizer. We both had the Bastella which is a pastry of almonds, caramelized onions, chicken and dusted with sugar and cinnamon. The amount of flavours in this dish were explosive, yet complimentary to each other. Almost tasted like a dessert!

For the main, I had the couscous and chose the sampler which came with chicken, sausage, lamb and prawns. The sauce was a tomato/garlic base. My wife had the sweeter version of this called Couscous Sahara with figs, proteins and warm spices. She also had the sampler and we both really enjoyed our meals, although had trouble finishing!

For dessert they brought out a pastry topped in ice cream with a raspberry sauce. My only complaint of any of our dishes was the amount of pastry to ice cream was very little.only got a few bites of it but liked what we tasted.

Our server was great and recommended a non alcoholic drink which consisted of a pomegranate juice base which we both enjoyed.

Great food and service! The server got us to try new items and it was worth it.

Definitely try the lamb and the tea!

I took myself on a date to this restaurant and was absolutely shocked when I walked in! I cannot believe a space this beautiful and atmospheric exists in Calgary. It truly is a hidden gem and for a moment it makes you feel like you’ve left the city. Escapism at its best.:)

I've been recommending this beautiful family-run restaurant to all my friends. The food was absolutely amazing (I had the Fez Tajine with braised lamb; beef merguez and the bastella for appetizers). I still have dreams about the taste, it was THAT good. The ambience, beautiful decor, friendly staff and delicious food definitely earn this restaurant 5 stars all around! Will definitely be back!

WOW! I have to say that the Casbah has really captured the essence of authentic Moroccan cuisine. The food was so flavorful, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I can't wait to go back.

Was at the Casbah with my family, the food was so full of flavor, the restaurant was probably one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to in my life, and the service was right on the mark. Overall, had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend if you have a special event that you want to celebrate in a special place, it will be a great time for sure!

No words to describe this place. Ambience beautiful. Food absolutely exceptional. & our server which was the owner, was super intelligent about Moroccan culture & gave us amazing recommendations as we knew nothing about the cuisine. We had the eggplant dip which was beyond good it was so flavorful & fresh. The couscous was INSANELY GOOD with such bold & vibrant flavors it was delicious. Hands down the most unbelievable restaurant ever. Will definitely be returning soon

We decided to go last minute without a reservation and lucked out! What a beautiful dining experience! The ambiance was as lovely as the food. The staff were also very kind. Thanks for finding a table for us, we'll definitely be back!

This is a beautiful restaurant tucked away in the heart of downtown Calgary. The ambiance is definitely a 10/10. Everything from the mirrors on the wall down to the cups and plates makes you feel like you're in Morocco. The server was friendly and very helpful

The only slight downside are the portion sizes. A bit too small for my liking and price but the flavour was excellent!

Amazing Moroccan ambiance! First time at Casbah during our visit to Calgary. We loved the food, the presentation and the customer service. Really lovely vibes! Don't forget the tasteful mint tea.

Seriously the best hidden gem! Delicious food, friendly staff and beautiful decor in such an usual restaurant for Calgary! It literally makes me feel like I've travelled across the world to Morocco! Absolutely recommend!

Amazing! The owner was fabulous and told us stories about Morocco, and the food was also amazing. It arrived quickly and was delicious. We recommend the dessert sample and mint tea. The atmosphere was like you were in another world. It is a must see!

The ambience is nothing short of breathtaking. It is an entire underground Moroccan dream world. Absolutely mesmerizing (I wish I knew where they get their tea cups). The food is so flavorful, fresh and comforting. The pistachio rose desert was spectacular. Service was friendly and relaxed.

* I see some complains about portion sizes and price.
Most of the people in the world outside of North America, go to a restaurant to enjoy an entire evening slowly, with incredibly well prepared and thought out food that is an experience. Not to stuff your face and go. But to socialize, experience and take it slow. These portions are meant for that. If you are still hungry after an appetizer, main and dessert with drinks. That has nothing to do with the portion size of this restaurant.

The price reflects the incredible amount of time, effort and dedication it takes to make fresh authentic Moroccan food, that is consistently good. This is not a burger with ketchup and fries menu guys. This food takes time, dedication and hard work. Please do not compare this to a Canadian standard joint. It is an insult to this Gem of a restaurant. Go here, experience, relax, take it slow, make good memories.

The food and the experience is amazing. If you are in the City for one night this is the restaurant to go to! The food was fresh and delicious! The atmosphere was so cool!

This is an awesome place to explore food from another culture. The ambiance is authentic Morrocan, the food is great. As is the service- friendly and helpful.

The place is beautifully decorated! The food was ok. I got a salmon dish, no salt or any seasoning on the salmon. It wasn’t properly cooked from inside, literally had the worse taste ever.and I m a salmon lover and I usually can tell how it was cooked or what was used to make the dish. It came with potatoes that were completely raw. Do not recommend.

I don't usually comment about atmosphere, but Casbah definitely has it. I had the couscous with braised lamb. The flavors were unique and the seasonal vegetables were perfectly cooked. I felt like the lamb was slightly overcooked. Unfortunately, the lamb shank special was sold out but I would come back to try it and the cornish hen.

Beautifully decorated, great ambiance and amazing service.serving size for mains is decent, but unless you are ordering couscous you will have to order bread or rice with it.
Desserts size for the sampler is really small for sharing even though they say it includes 3 regular sized desserts.

Very pathetic customer service!
I have travelled to different places in the world and me and my husband are foodies. We love to try foods at places with great ambience. However, If you are only planning to go to this restaurant to have drinks, try their desserts and coffee, this is not the place for you as this became our plan when we sat there and we regret going there at all.
The server is extremely obnoxious. First, we ordered drinks. He brought drinks for us and later on came back and told us that the minimum order is 25$ if we are at the restaurant. My husband said we are still deciding and politely asked where does it say on the menu card.
The server quickly jumped to judgement and it doesnt say but you have to order its 'common sense".
I mean who says that? Also he said if you are here for the drinks this table is not for you, other people will be waiting whereas half the restaurant was empty. He was quick to judge and very impatient and greedy for money saying you are only here for the pictures and you should order food.
Reasonably, If they want us to dine in they could request us but cannot force us and we both wanted to try the morrocan dessert trio that was already $25 each, but too bad because of the server's nonsense behavior we finished the drinks that we regret to order and immediately left because of the server's judgemental and unpleasant behavior!
We also mentioned that we would have actually ordered more than 25$ each and they should put it on the door or tell us while being seated that they do not appreciate anyone ordering drinks, dessert and coffee only if they are not ordering food.
Not going back ever, would not recommend to anyone who may not want to dine in and only going for drinks and desserts and coffee as they dont appreciate that kind of business!
Also not for people who appreciate the ambience and like taking pictures in nicer looking restaurants!

The decor, setup and vibe are all warm and sophisticated, food was great, and service was friendly and quick.

Wow! We just escaped Calgary and travelled 1/2 way around to world to Morocco! The atmosphere is outstandingly authentic.

The flavours, authenticity and hospitality of this amazing family run restaurant will both delight and enthral you.

Waited 3 years to visit this place, but the server there doesnt appreciate taking pics and is too eager to take your money and get you out the door to keep the table free.even though restaurant is 60% empty.

Server is very rude and judgmental.
Despite wanting to order food items on the menu card, we ended up leaving asap after finishing our drinks that we regretfully ordered. (Server behaves like he is the owner). Going thru the reviews, i see the owner is Carrie and she says they will make experience better, yet this guys attitude is costing her customers.

I hadnt even visited this place and liked the pics so much on internet that i already was recommending that to friends and colleagues and well.regret it after this experience. Anyone who wants to feel humiliated can go there because you won't know what to expect!

Amazing place and the owner was very welcoming and just as busy as everyone else in terms of making sure the experience was great.

Made reservations for 11 people for a birthday dinner. The server made a big issue over some people who just ordered appetizers or wanted to share a dish with another person because there was supposedly a 25$ per person rule which was not communicated when the reservations were made, nor at the beginning of the dinner. Later on, another guest showed up to celebrate with us and didn’t order anything, so the server pulled me aside to complain to me about why the additional guest did not order anything and asked me “who comes to a restaurant to sit around? ” Then proceeded to tell me he was going to charge me 25$ to serve the cake we brought with us because the restaurant was struggling. We ended up eating and leaving with the cake. The server ruined the night for the whole party and seemed like he was trying to scam us every chance he could. If 10/11 people ordered main dishes there’s no need to make a scene over one person who joined us for a celebration. Absolute ridiculous customer service that 11 people experienced and will never come back or recommend.

Came in for a date night and wanted to try something new. We were very impressed! Great decor and the food was fantastic! We each had the Tour of Casbah with some variation to each and it was the right amount of food at a good price. Nice unique drink menu as well. Looking forward to returning! Our server was helpful, communicative and really helped build the experience. Also recommend you go for the “wash” option:)

Wonderful wonderful establishment!
The door is tucked away and for good reason. It's like a hidden doorway to a beautiful secret!
The staff was absolutely amazing! Ronny was so helpful in explaining the dishes to us and gave us a small, well needed education in the cuisine. He also makes some darn good cocktails!
The food. Oh my God the food. I don't mean to sound dramatic but " life changing" isn't an exaggeration. You have to eat here! Take a friend, take your family, or go on a superb date as it is all around perfect. I have had to rewrite this review like 8 times because I keep going on and on about everything. I will wrap it up with these points:
The decor is storybook magical
Try the bastilla. I would eat one or ten of these every day if I lived in Calgary.
The staff are some of the nicest people ever that made us feel welcome and proud to have dined at their restaurant
The food was absolutely superb! The tenderness of the meat, the sauces, every bite was an eye roll.
If I was a food critic I would have written a full page about this place but don't just take my word for it. Go eat here. You won't regret it.

This is the perfect restaurant for a romantic date! The restaurant was decorated so beautifully! I loved the atmosphere. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was amazing! I was reminded of my trip to Morocco!

Honestly the best restaurant I've ever seen. The decor was so beautiful and romantic, it felt like you just stepped onto a movie set. Very Arabian nights. The food was delicious. I loved the harissa sauce and the lamb. We also had a great server who made some great recommendations. Thank you Rani. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in Calgary.

The restaurant is decorated Beautifully and the ambience was lovely. The hen I had was very tender and tasty! Well portioned and I would highly recommend anyone to come here. It’s a nice getaway from the usual dine in experience! Our waiter was really nice too.

My husband took me here for my birthday after a coworker recommended it to him. We loved the ambiance and decor of the place. It was quiet and dark and was really nicely decorated. The food was very good, we had never tried Moroccan cuisine and we were excited to try it. The flavors were wonderful, the lamb was some of the best I've ever had. My husband got a dish with the hen, the hen was fall of the bone tender. Everything was really great and I look forward to trying more in the future.
The not as great,
I felt the service left a bit to be desired. We were about 10 minutes early for our reservation, I felt as though we were an inconvenience, even though our table was set up, clear and ready for us. We stood awkwardly in the entrance way with the skip the dishes drivers. Being as Moroccan food is not the most mainstream cuisine here, and I believe most people have not tried it before, a little bit of guidance with the menu would have been appreciated, or at least an offer of recommendations. I felt the server was maybe a little bit annoyed with us after we were early, and I felt that the service did suffer a bit from that.
It wouldn't stop us from returning, but I think it was a low point of the otherwise amazing meal.

Wow what atmosphere! This restaurant makes you feel like you are in Morocco the moment you walk through the doors. The decor is amazing! The food & service are also amazing. The food is authentic Moroccan which is made with love shown in how the dishes are plated. Highly recommend.

Very small portions of food, expensive, a price for every thing. Warm morocan decorations and tasty food but the main guy who receives people and manages the seating is not that professional. He receives you then after you eat quickly gives the cheque and politely kicks you out to receive others. Not my favorite fine dining experience.

Amazing ambiance, food and service! We had a party of 7 including a young child to celebrate my mom’s birthday and all three generations loved this unique experience. Would definitely go again and recommend others to try it.

Great decor, atmosphere, food, and customer service. Our waiter made recommendations for what things paired together well. There also happened to be a belly dancing performance that night! A little loud if you're next to the speakers, but otherwise a great time.

One of my TOP restaurant to go to. Was there once and now I'm ready to go back! The food, amazing. So fresh and filled with flavour. Not once was I unsatisfied with the combination of spices and ingredients. The atmosphere, like walking to a tent in Morocco. Beautifully draped and very romantic. This is the spot to impress your date. The waiter was the owner, and we were blown away with the passion and how articulate he was describing each dish. Was like I could taste it before the plate was ordered. What got me hooked was the tea. Changed my life. Never have I drank such a delicious cup of tea. Could be simple, but I have yet to recreate that first sip that blew me away. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This place is nice, the food is great and the décor is lovely BUT the owner, who is also a server, is very rude, unprofessional and doesn't have boundaries. I had a birthday party here and he charged for the cake per person, which I was never told prior to, since it was my own cake. I argued this, so he dropped it. He wrote the bill with his hand and it was not legible at all. When asked what he recommends "everything is good" is always the answer.
I would give it 5 stars if he didn't interact with the customers.

The decoration here is spot on. Very intimate feel to it.
The stews are so delicious!
They are baby friendly too, and the booths are so cozy that the little one can nap the evening away.

The food was good, the ambiance was great but the customer service can definitely be better. The girl who seated us was polite and friendly but the server who brought dessert barely talked to us, It felt rude when he brought the bill before we asked, just as we finished dessert. Which was ironic, as he was telling the customers seated at another table that unlike other restaurants, they don't ask or hint to their customers when it's time to leave. Definitely felt some partial treatment there.

This restaurant has great ambience it’s great for special occasions or a date night. The food was good and the service was excellent.

It was my first time at a Moroccan restaurant and the waiter was patient enough to explain everything and made good recommendations. The food came out pretty fast and was very good. The price is very reasonable as well.

To start off, the atmosphere is excellent. However, everything else was absolutely dreadful.
The prices did not accurately represent the quality of the food. The meat was priced separately at $8-10 for minuscule pieces. This is aside from the main dish (which was a bowl of rice) for $18+
To make matter much worse, the owner would not give us a receipt with the prices on it. He also gave himself a tip of 20% without my consent.
When questioned, he responded rudely and made me feel unwanted and uncomfortable.
Save your time and money and go literally anywhere else.

Not great service at all, the service was horrible we felt unwelcommed with our children. The food is not that great, before coming I called and asked about the prices where the owner said the main dishes are for $17 in fact each dish cost me about $30. They did not allow us to wash our hand with rose water as they fo with all their customers and they said theg run out of towels. They force us to pay gratuity and we ordered 5 meals only. I will never go back to this place.

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant today. The ambiance alone is worth checking out. The owner is very friendly and very helpful at explaining the Moroccan food varieties.

We tried the Tour of the Casbah menu and boy that was amazing! The lamb is nicely cooked, soft and it doesn't have that strong lamb smell that others seem to dislike.

The Casbah restaurant as soon as I walked inside I was taken away by how beautiful and elegant the Moroccan atmosphere is created. Everything is so clean, every wall is a fixture wall in there. The food is tasty and fresh with a big variety to choose from. They steam cook vegetables the Moroccan way maintaining the vibrant colours of veggies each dish has a big selection of different kinds. Saffron Rice, Couscous with beef and chicken also so yummy.
And Finally The original Moroccan Mint tea specially served with elegance. We had a wonderful time thank you for your excellent service.

The Casbah was amazing. The Crevette was delicious and our Tajines was spiced perfectly. Waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with choosing dishes. Will definitely be back!

This was our first time here and we were blown away. The decor and ambience immediately transport you to Morocco when you walk in the door. The food was amazing. I had a tajine (stew), and my wife and daughter had couscous dishes. I tasted all three dishes and I would order any of them again. All had a lot of depth of flavor that will have you finishing everything. I had the lamb with mine, and it was so tender I cut it with a fork. After our meal I ordered a Moroccan coffee and it had great flavor, incredibly hot, but it was worth the wait to enjoy it. The price per dish is between $20 and $30, but well worth it. We'll be back.

The food was so delicious, I think I've found my new favorite place in Calgary! Not only was the ambiance amazing and the staff very friendly but the food was so flavorful and gave us a real taste of Morocco! You have to try this. I'm a massive foodie and tried a lot of places in Calgary and this is one of the top. Dont hesitate! Book it and try it:)

I came here in the hopes of having authentic Moroccan food and this restaurant does not disappoint! As a Moroccan Canadian myself, I’ve found it rare to find a Moroccan restaurant that delivers great service and beautifully set environment and amazing food, Casbah guarantees all three! I will definitely be returning with friends and family.

I am a huge fan of The Casbah! The food, the atmosphere, and the service are all terrific. I eat a plant-based diet and this place has tons of options, I wish I could eat here daily!

The food tastes good, however, EXTREMELY over priced. We were charged 127$ for 3 tiny orders. The portions are small. We ordered the Chicken Tajine and Rus khoudar (vege rice) as well as the eggplant dip as an appetizer. They charged for the extra pita.

Not easily accessible for challenged persons or parents with kids. 7 steps down the main Street with no elevator.

The waitress is blunt and masked face.

For sure never coming back

Yes, the décor is really something, so it is worth one visit for that. It is also not a bad option if you have never eaten Moroccan or Algerian food before. I ordered the lamb tagine with lemon preserves. Tagines typically come with rice, couscous or bread - however this dish came with none of that or even some veggies on the side. The overall sauce was pretty flat - though the lamb was tender which was the saving grace. I expect more from a $36 dish.
