No Minors allowed, shame to have them be the Liverpool club watching pub but can't bring your kids for a match. It's their choice as well, not some restricted permitting.
Came in for a visiy to Calgary. An extremely good night. Brother got sick and then bad news about a friend.but needed food and a drink. Super pleasant local pub. Live music on a friday, happy crowd super nice waitress'. All of them served me and cleaned my table. Bartender was great. Stayed longer than planned, wonderful atmosphere of pinball, games, big screens sports and very nice customers. I felt good leaving after. 5 hours and more than a few drinks and food. No probs, and super nice staff. Great pub.
Live Music was ok. Not sure If it's the acoustics but it's too loud to hold a conversation. Has to move to the very back to able to hold a conversation.shouldn't have to be one or the other.lovely staff though
The beer selection is good, food is tasty (especially the tater tots? !? Haha), and the patio and interior are nice and welcoming. We went on the last warm evening of Fall, enjoyed the patio, and I'll definitely suggest this place next time it's pub night!
Great pub, the food is always on point. Would definitely recommend the bar seats if you're looking for somewhere to watch the playoffs. Beer pints are slightly on the pricier side than average for Calgary but the staff are friendly enough to compensate for that.
This bar is the best. The bartender, Aaron I think? He makes a mean old fashioned and was super chatty and charismatic. Will definitely be back when I’m in town again.
Good service, good beer selection, menu looked good though I didn't get a chance to order anything. Lots of seating room and TVs everywhere. We watched a soccer game here.
This is the second time I have been to the Cat and the Fiddle and I can now gladly give a 5 star rating! Great service from our waitress Courtney and the food was great as well, Awesome burgers here! Super juicy and tasty beef patties and the bun even holds up. Even the fries are great. Will be returning again. Thanks for the great experience.
Stopped in for a to go clubhouse, was done super fast. Waited on the nice sunny patio, great spot to relax for a few minutes in the midst of a hectic day. Been there a few times, will definitely be back.
They finished a 9 week tournament of trivia. It was great fun. We started 2 weeks late but were able to play in the final playoffs. Your total score only got you into the finals, not to necessarily win. We did not win the grand prizes as those were random draws, that's fine. After all when a bar owner puts up that much money the purpose is to draw people in not reward the best teams, they have nightly prizes for that. If you read the rules it was never supposed to be a purely merit based tournament. If you only play trivia to win, oh well. This was a good tournament. I was glad that teams who never had a chance at winning the top score won the big prizes through random draws, thats what keeps people playing and makes if fun. I know lots of teams had fun with it and have been playing there for years. There is a nightly prize that is based on merit, but really often comes down to one question, you win some you lose some, such is life.
A 9 week trivia tournament concludes with $1500+ in prizes, none of which went to the top teams, how is that fair?
What was that point of having the score posted each week if in the end having the top scores didn't even matter? I wasn't the only one unclear regarding the rules. Every other tournament I've been in the winner (s) were based on merit. Fine, have some random draws, but the teams that actually showed up every week and played the best should be rewarded. Think of having more prizes based on merit than random draws and our team will find another place for trivia until that happens. We've been there hundreds of times not anymore.
Stopped in a whim for a bite since we are not from Calgary and it looked interesting. Glad we did! Live music and good atmosphere. Appetizing menu and our orders were more than expected! Large servings and big in taste. Courtney provided amazing service. She was attentive and engaging. Recommend and would return.
Loved this location. I was told this was an old cathedral. The high ceilings make you feel less closed in so it is a very chill and relaxing atmosphere. Loved the trivia night. Especially oved that trivia night has no technology involved. So nice to get away from screens at the end of the day. Wonderful mini quesadillas but they were do good that I forgot to take a pic and they got devoured. Next time!
My favorite pub just got better. They took advantage of the Covid and spruced up the place. Great beer selection and good pub food. Friendly staff remember my name. Great pub!
Lived nearby for 4 years and recently went for the first time. Drinks were so so but food was AMAZING. If you live sweet potato fries definitely come here! It was a quiet atmosphere, the server was pretty indifferent and not very attentative to the table unfortunately. Would still return would just move sections of that server was there again.
We live 2 blocks away but only go about 3 times a year. Food is okay and the drinks are reasonably priced for the most part. I would rate this higher except for the fact that when my wife asked for celery in her ceasar she was told she would be charged for it. What kind of bar manager charges for the proper garnish for a cocktail, especially in the city it was invented in. Last time coming here.
Our server Jillian was very friendly and courteous. The food was good, what you would expect from pub food. All table were sufficiently distanced. All in all an enjoyable dinner out.
Fantastic neighborhood pub serving many local beers as well as all of your other favourite brands. TV's everywhere to catch any sport including premier league football, it's home to the Calgary Liverpool supporters club. Stop in and enjoy the friendly service.
Used to come here regularly for karaoke and wings. Went with a friend. Last time I was there, I had to ask for my iced tea several times and water even more times. The wings were good, though. Tator tots were good, too.
The waitress was great. The guy in charge of karaoke on Friday Feb 15th, not so much. Not sure if he was playing favourites with friends or just couldn't keep a fair distribution, but it was pretty frustrating for our table.
Nice food and place, but why serve condiments like coleslaw and dipping sauces in single use plastic, non recyclable small plastic cup things? I dont get the need for that in an establishment premise setting. Would be great to see that change.
Food is always good. Wait staff always friendly. Something going on in the evening almost every day. Almost crowded to packed pretty much year round. Over all great place!
The exposed piping behind the fish & chips sign, there's a big blue sign and the ceiling are all very dirty/ dusty. Ceiling should be painted dark green or black and the place needs a good cleaning.
It took a little while for a waitress to come to our table of 4. We stopped in after playing hockey and we were hungry and thirsty. No entertainment on a Friday night but there were lots of big screens to watch sports. The food we ordered came out pretty fast and was really good. Good variety of beers. They had Velvet Fog!
For my first visit to this pub, Trivia Tuesday was a great introduction. The pub has oodles of character, the staff is amazing at recognizing the regulars I attended with, and it was a most enjoyable night out by every standard. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
The food is not good and didn't agree with my intestines. One time had tacos, other time had wings. If you're just drinking and hanging out it's not bad.
Tues night trivia was fun. Food was nothing to write home about, bland and overly garlicky herb and garlic wings with no salt, just dried up garlic taste. Mini donuts were just deep fried balls.coulda used more sugar/cinnamon/caramel. Server was great and personable and gave good recommendations.
Met with some old friends, we had something to eat. I had the beef dip with fries very enjoyable. Beef dip was hot, lots of beef and the fries. Recommend the Cat and Fiddle.
