We were helped by four different people the guy at the gate the guy who pulled over and told us just to follow him as to where we were going the lady direct traffic at the dump and then also the guy at the exit gate. Actually extremely friendly first class service well done everybody we were quite impressed in spite of the surroundings, blowing dirt and dust and tons of garbage everyone was super pleasant and actually quite perky LoL
I would recommend this landfill every time if you’re in the North! Extremely helpful, incredibly nice every time! There is not one time I have met someone who is unhappy. Always willing to help with a smile on their face.
Had a fan and humidifier that couldnt be salvaged. Such great staff, they give you appropriate information at the entrance and again as you drive in to the dump, they are so helpful with everything.
The staff are great but some of the rules dictated by city hall (I presume) are questionable. Their strategy on composting is really a disaster. On one hand you have to pay to drop off material for composting and on the other they've made it almost impossible to pick up finished compost for your own garden. As of today, April 23, you can't even book an appointment to pick up compost. Zero "business sense" on how to serve your customers when it comes to their half-baked compost program.
I could not believe how kind everyone was. I came in with no line, was greeted, directed to the right area, got a little confused and was immediately helped.
I was told what the minimum price was before I dropped off anything.
Staff here are great! Helpful people and this is a place where you can literally say goodbye to your baggage. It's kind of like therapy but destroys the planet with every throw.
I always go twice in a year to the Spy Hill location and amazed by the great people who work here. I appreciate the fact that they’re really working in a tough place but still they are always helpful and cheerful.
Excessive fees, no wonder people just dump their garbage anywhere. Civic fees need to be reasonable and fair. Many Calgarians can't afford to live in Calgary anymore.: (
First time coming to this dump. Exceptional operation, and the employees are super helpful, and very friendly. This place is extremely organized and runs like a well oiled machine.
The crows and gulls are very happy as well. Heavily recommended for humans and avians alike.
Not open on Sundays. Went on Saturday. 40 minute wait to get in and 40 minute wait to get out. Second load; got in right away- well over a 1 hour wait to get out. Terrible.
Quick getting in and out. We took household and garage garbage to the dump. Then realized they also had an area for dropping of household chemicals, paint, propane tanks, etc. Very well organized and convenient.
This was my first visit (27AUG2020,12: 15) and found the 3 staff members (all young men) so pleasant from the one who let me in (and explained the process), to the one who immediately pulled on his mask when he saw the car approaching to the drop-off spot, to the one who let me exit and thanked me for recycling.
The employees here are exceptional, they're friendly, polite, and helpful. We always have a good experience here. The site is very well organized and I love the fact that you can recycle old textiles here. Any material that can not be donated (old underwear, ripped clothing, old pillows, old shoes etc.) is made into something else. Keeps it out of the landfill. I love this.
Always a wonderful day to visit the bird sanctuary and celebrate the failures of consumerism. The people working there are wonderful despite being chronically pooped on by the aforementioned birds.
Organized. Lots of staff direvting. Not too smelly haha. Lots of birds of course. Check out was long wait. Prob 20 min to pay. Cant use cash right now.
The staff there has consistently been polite. The main dump can get muddy and rutted after a heavy rain so try to use a vehicle with 4x4 or consider waiting until it had a chance to dry.
I dump here a couple times a year. Staff are always very pleasant and helpful. I've seen a few complaints about the smell. I guess people are forgetting it's a dump.for trash.it's going to smell. Very reasonably priced, I've never gone over the base price with my truck, no matter how full it's been.
Charging for yard waste is a joke. Should be free drop off for this. Furthermore customer service stinks. Better brush up on this before Kenney drops the much needed axe!
The guy standing at the Throw & Go Stop sign has communication issues and needs customer relationship training. Never seen such a rude person working for a public sector.
Excellent customer service! Very friendly. They even gave a treat to my dog. I can't believe that a previous person complained that it smells like garbage and have them a one star - surprise - it's a garbage dump.
Even worse than the other landfills it's like people are professional pylons with hands stuck inside their pockets like they're sewn there. What the hell are these people paid to stand there like that for? What a waste of money why don't you guys pay someone who actually wants the job to do something?
They don't let you rummage, but of you're quick and they don't see you, you can get some good items. They may ask questions when you try to leave heavier than when you entered though.
New throw & go set up is extremely inconvenient for off loading! You now have to walk 5’ from the end of your vehicle to the bin. I tripped over the parking curbs several times & concrete step in front of bin. This is not safer then unloading from up in the box of your truck! Someone is going to fall and smash there face on bin curb. Plus it now takes 2-3 times longer to unload, this is not good on a busy day! Please go back to previous unloading configuration! Yellow guard rails are fine but vehicles need to be as close to bins as possible. Adults can unload at their own risk.
The staff is always so friendly and helpful it makes the trip to the dump much more enjoyable. Kudos to the city managers for fostering a positive work environment done these folks. My dogs also love the dog treats.
