The Discovery Hut

The layout of this store seems to demand that they learn a lesson from the Lego store, which is close by. They need to limit how many people can be in the store at the same time. It's super crowded and often very hard to move around. The staff are amazingly patient considering how claustrophobic the overall shopping experience is here. I do think this store has an excellent selection and range - they need to manage their traffic better.

Was able to get assistance on locating s boy doll. Very happy with the efficiency of clerk and professionalism. Always a blast going in.

What a busy place over the weekend! It makes sense though, this place has got everything to offer when it comes to board games and other related items. Wow!

My boyfriend was shopping for our board game night at this location and was approached by one of the employees and was blatantly accused of stealing. He said he was “suspicious” and either had to “buy something or leave”. Apparently browsing or shopping of any sort is unacceptable in this absolute joke of an establishment. We left the game that we were going to purchase and walked out. There are MUCH better ways to handle potential theft than to falsely accuse people who were merely browsing. Never coming back here. This place sucks

Amazing selection of games for all ages and the staff are always so knowledgeable and helpful! I make a point to buy all my games at this local store. Fantastic place to go if you're looking for a gift for anyone in your life as well. This store is packed with a lot of cool stuff! There are sections for different age groups, including an infant zone. There is also a science related section and a fun black light mini hallway with cool toys. Check this store out and buy local instead of online!

Been here multiple times for vinyl toys.you should probably come in before you do any shopping and don't wear anything that makes you look young otherwise you're profiled. If you guys have such a theft issue maybe 2 exits out of the store is a bad idea? Maybe a bottle necking exit with RFID tags and posts is better than hiring staff to eyeball you the whole time. Next time I go I'll wear a suit and tie, and put my hands up into the air so they can see I'm not stuffing things into my pockets

Don’t trust the employees for their word, as they will scam you with their return policy. In addition the manager will do nothing because all he wants is for you to buy this ridiculous boardgame prices, amazon sells it twice as less and with better deals. I advise to just look around and see what you like but never buy anything from there. Also the employee follow customers to much, it’s creepy and quit disturbing.

A good place to go if you're not sure what you're looking for. There is a lot of variety.

I haven't bought anything here yet. My son and I usually just go around the store when we are at Chinook Centre.

This store was difficult to leave. Fantastic selection. Amazing displays. Helpful staff. We looked through the massive board game selection as well as the various toys. Really great place to make a purchase for the littles in your life.or those who enjoys board games as they have such a large selection that you are sure to find something for anyone who enjoys board games!

I've shopped here for many board games in the past. I normally enjoy shopping here however the last few times I've been there I was followed around by multiple members of staff and then I was asked multiple times by what seemed like a management member if I needed help. I understand that I had a bag with me that I use as my purse and that increases my chance for theft however I feel I was profiled for my tattoos and age which made me incredibly uncomfortable. I have been looking at getting baby stuff as I am newly pregnant and I don't believe I will get anything from this store in regards to that in the future seeing as they treated me like a thief. Extremly unprofessional.

My friend and I were shopping around and we had a sealed pack of cards from the store. My friend had the cards in his hand with his phone. He put his phone in his pocket but not the cards. She asked to see the cards and the receipt and then kicked us out of the store. We were polite and asked why but she refused to give us an explanation. My friend is Colombian and to me it looked like racial profiling. We were then banned. If we had been given an explanation I wouldn't have minded as much. This was handled unprofessionally and I am appalled that this happened. I understand why she might have thought we were shop lifting but this could have been handled better. The overall store is quite nice but in this case the customer service was horrid.

Lots of great stuff to temp your children and great varieties of games etc. Great store and friendly helpful staff

Found so many fun things here! Wish they had more pokemon choices like pokemon battle figures. I scour for good variety of those and can never find em.

Chinook mall, large selection of items. Sorry I only went in to see the large selection of Dinasour Figurines.

This games store is a DESTINATION. Straight up worth the drive from Edmonton, they have so much to offer! So many games, expansions, fidget toys, puzzles, stuffed animals my cats would kill for, fun lava lamp type things, and the staff are so attentive and wanting to help you that it really just feels like home 10/10 will be returning every time I'm in Calgary.

It was a good and nice quality place to celebrate Father's day with my kids and my wife we like it somuch and highly recommended for my family and friends thank you somuch for the wonderful experience we will comeback very soon thank you somuch.

Massive selection for all sorts of toys and board games. Can be rather expensive at times.

I went into Discovery Hut (Calgary Chinook) today and there was a young customer service rep who helped my friend and I find the perfect games! His name was Mikey. He was incredibly knowledgeable, I had a million and one questions and he answered ALL of them! He also gave so many great suggestions for other board games. He had a very upbeat personality and was truly a joy to deal with, his attitude was contagious and we had lots of laughs while learning about all these new games. Mikey made a GREAT salesman and is manager material. Though, I didn’t get my price match that I was looking for it was a wonderful experience.

Whats not to like. Friendly staff and a ton of selection. Kids love browsing and its hard not to leave without my wallet feeling lighter.
