Highlight of edmonton's summer! Music sweet, sweet music 4 days & nights, located in the beautiful river valley of Edmonton.cost affordable and priceless
Great festival - have been coming here for years. Always a great selection of artists and amazing main stage concerts. As expected, food is quite expensive however the lines can be very long so be prepared to leave a concert early or miss the start of the next one. Make sure to bring bug spray as well. Overall, an amazing festival that has never disappointed with its scenic views and amazing music.
The atmosphere can’t be beat. You get 4 days worth of concerts for the price of mid seats at 1 normal concert. Food trucks are always amazing, there’s water and lots of bathrooms. Bike as there won’t be parking within 5km + and try go early each day to set up your tarp.
Always have a fantastic 4 days at Folkfest. They consistently bring in incredibly talented artists and I always leave the festival with a massive list of new favorites to enjoy.
Some 2023 improvements The Big Rock beer tent was incredibly well run and efficient. I couldn't believe how quickly the lines moved.
Room for improvement. The lines for food were very slow with all vendors having hour plus lines during peak times. The festival either needs more vendors or to be more selective about the vendors they bring in by making effencentcy a top priority. Nobody wants to miss a performer to get super.
Although I loved the performers, this was overall a bad experience and I won’t go again. We stood in line to get in for 45 minutes. Lines for food or drink were also very long. And although we left early to get a cab, we waited over an hour because no one was directing cabs from the main road to the pickup point. Volunteers were understaffed and not given proper training to direct cabs. So I spent more time in lines than I did enjoying music.
Fantastic festival, there are always performances that make the whole crowd dance. I highly reccomend volunteering with it. It's a great way to make new friends and eat amazing food.
Entry was a joke, alcohol lines were worse then Garth Brooks. We asked about getting wrist band days before (even went to wrist band location) but was told "it not worth it" and "we don't give out wristbands for one day". Get there, low and behold we wait in line to get a wristband. 40+ yrs and they haven't learned anything. Organizers do better but I won't be back. Edit: volunteers and onsite staff were great.
