I originally posted a negative review after a misunderstanding I had with one of the stylists. I’m now changing it to 5 stars because the salon really went out of their way to rectify my issues and make sure I felt heard. Thank you for being diligent and open to communication with me I appreciate the fact that you all went out of your way to reach out and allow me to feel heard it really goes a long way and shows that these guys care about their work and making clients happy. I couldn’t be happier thank you!

As someone with extreme hair loss, I feel I will be wearing a hair piece forever so for me it was super important to find a place that I feel I will be comfortable coming back to for life and I can happily say that I will be here forever because every aspect of my experience has always been top notch.

I'm on my third set of extensions and every aspect of their product and services are top notch. My last set had some issues, but after bringing it up with the staff, my hair was replaced and the new set is fabulous. It wasn't their fault I mean this is human hair, but I think that a company is only as good as their customer service and Megan & Leslie definitely go the extra distance for their clients. If you're considering extensions, this is the place to go!

Megan and her team at the extensionist salon are wildly talented, and you can tell this salon means more to them than just money. They help women like me who have gone through hair issues and gave me back my confidence. I will never stop recommending this salon after coming here for 8 years now! I am definitely a lifer!

I have bought several hair toppers from this place and every single time I place an order and pay a large deposit, my item takes months and months and months to come in and nobody from their teams contacts me. I have to contact them. My last order was placed over 8months ago with a large deposit of several hundred of dollars and today I called them to check on my order from 8months ago and I got the same excuse. Their are delays with the manufacturer, this has been the same excuse over and over again! Maybe it’s time to use a new manufacturer? !? !? On top of them taking my large deposit and giving me an ETA of three months, NOBODY calls you and gives you an update! It’s so sad that they do this to customers. Some customers really relay on this company’s integrity because they may be dealing with life treating illness and that hairpiece, wig etc is a second skin! But the place has proven to me time and time again that they operates an an ultimate low integrity level! I am still waiting on an order I placed over 8months ago! It is very sad how this place is managed! One of the worst experiences ever!

I’ve been going to this salon for almost 3 years the prices in this salon have gone through the roof the new colour line is absolutely terrible. There seems to be all new staff that are apprentices and very inexperienced. I would have never spent the amount I have been spending if it wasn’t for my stylist who’s no longer there. I Do not recommend this place, highway robbery during a recession of all times.

This place has ruined my hair and my self confidence. My first appointment they charged me 330$ for 10 foils in my hair that did not lift and then put in platinum blonde extensions that did not mix well at all. I was very vocal about the fact I had alopecia and they didn’t make me feel great about it. I wasn’t even done paying and the lady who did my hair had left. She took maybe 10 minutes to do my extensions. Costumer service there just ain’t it. I got a complementary service after I complained and it was okay, definitely a lot better than the last time. I went to get a second opinion about my extensions somewhere else and she was so disappointed. The damage that was done to my hair after having the extensions in for 4 weeks was insane after the method they used to install them. It’s the “quick and easy method” as I’m sure all that lady wanted to do was leave and didn’t actually care about my hair. There are chunks of my hair missing from the extensions on top of my alopecia. Now I have to get different extensions and pay 900$ AGAIN just so all my hair doesn’t fall out. And not only that but my haircut was so botched I had to take 2 inches off my extensions as it was so choppy and uneven. Like seriously. Pls don’t go here. They may be all about “hair care” but they really could care less. Disappointed and hurt to say the least. Thanks for taking my money and leaving me with more damage than before!

Avoid this salon like the plague! THE worse experience I have ever had at a hair salon and the most money I have ever spent (wasted). Salon is dirty and needs a deep clean or a renovation. Staff turnover is huge, and you'll be lucky to see the same person twice. Spent $2000 for extensions that were the quality of a Dollarama store Halloween wig, that I took out myself two months after being installed as they were falling off my head. The colour (that I paid $600 for) did not match the extensions, and when I went back a second time to try and correct it, they refused to correct it and charged me even more money. The owner takes no accountability for her staff and obviously does not know how to run a business. She'll ghost you when contacted with concerns. PLEASE do yourself a favour and go to another salon for extensions. I wish I had taken the advice of the other clients leaving poor reviews and saved myself a ton of money and a lot of grief.

Love my extensions! In my opinion the best extensions you can get, a million times better than tape-ins etc. Such a simple and cost efficient follow up service as well! Highly recommend

I go to the Edmonton location and Rene is my girl for all my needs installing my hair colouring my natural hair annnnnd of course my blow outs! Love love this salon and all the girls that work there!

Had mine installed about 2 months now. They are the easiest extentions to manage as well. They feel great, look great, well worth the service.but later found it hard to make appointments, they didn't take suggestions well when I said I thought they were too heavy I now have some.patches of thin out hair

I had the worst experience at the salon. Not only was the cut and color nothing to what I wanted I was treated very poorly at the Edmonton location. I can honestly say this was the worst investment I have ever made. Super disappointing experience for a hefty price tag.

I’ll start by saying I’ve been a die hard blonde my entire life. Not a sandy, light blonde- a silver, white, impossible to maintain and colour match type of blonde. My hair is thin and at my collarbone for length.
Due to personal reasons I haven’t been to a salon in YEARS. After my pregnancy, my confidence was gone, my hair was even more thin then before, and breaking constantly.
I’ve always dreamed of having long hair, but couldn’t justify the effort and price for something that I could just try to wait to grow out and would only last a few months. I’ve heard tape ins ruin your hair and glue is just as bad. My hair isn’t capable of handling the strain, and when I read about the vogue pearl technique, I assumed that it would be just as bad for your hair as the others.
I was so wrong.
After some solid research, and many different consultations with different salons and hair quality, I finally bit the bullet with the extensionist, I was always coming back to their page over and over.
I had my original hair done by Emily and Megan, and I’ve had touch ups by Alyssa and Sasha.
The process was great. Customer service? Amazing.
Colour match?
I can’t even -

I was prepared for a bit of unevenness given my hair type and what my end goal was (22” of white hair), but I was open to building up to my final result as I’m well aware it’s next to impossible to replicate exactly what a person wants in one sitting. I was willing to go more brunette in an attempt to save/blend my hair a little easier
I went with 16” to avoid a “mullet” look, and I’m BLESSED that Emily recommended a shorter length, instead of agreeing with 22”, having me pay extra and hope for the best, she gave me her honest opinion and was solely trying to make me look my best, and did a beautiful job with fixing up my natural hair in prep for extensions. Megan did my install, absolutely PERFECT. Not too tight, beautiful cut and colour, (styled by Tiffany, great job and wish I could curl my hair just as well)
I left feeling so confident. The colour match was absolutely invisible, blending was immaculate.
VERY rarely can you straighten blonde hair with extensions and not be able to tell, and I’m so thankful to say I actually can.
I get complimented ALL the time, asking if it’s my real hair. They were also able to keep the colour, without going any darker which I assumed would be impossible (apparently not for these talented beauties)
I’ve had a touch up by Alyssa, who was so kind and personable with such a passion for what she does, and also just had Sasha do a touchup, also so sweet and genuine, so good at what she does.
Overall, my hair is lasting BEAUTIFULLY (two months in and I’m still in awe), and the colour hasn’t needed a single touchup.
If you’re sitting on the fence about extensions, go in for a consultation and they will HOOK YOU IN FOREVER.
I love this place, and I adore all the girls that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting along the way. I genuinely feel welcomed, I don’t feel embarrassed to walk in and feel out of place.

The best place in city of Edmonton to get your hair done and coloured and/highlights super friendly staff. My hair stylist Dennis’s Ulrich is the best she takes care of you and feel great at the end of your appointment and leaving feeling refreshed

Highly recommend the extensionist if you're looking to get good quality hair and damage free installation. Ive recommended them to everyone I know. Don't let the prices scare you, they're worth it!

I have always felt very insecure and self-conscious about my hair until I decided to check out The Extensionist. Emily is one of the best in the game and she brought my hair back to life as well as my confidence! Also their hair is amazing and lasts a long time! Best purchase I have ever made.:)

I've been coming here since October and really enjoy my hair. My first touch up wasn't great and I ended up having to come back to have it fixed, but I have since found Emily who did a fantastic job with the touch up.

How is this place still open I spent so much money for cheap hair and zero customer support. Don’t listen to the 5 star reviews they all are paid to positively review this place….

Once there’s a complaint about extensions they will ghost and then say “we have no records of complaints” as soon as a review is posted but I tried to call in, talked to front desk, and left 4 voicemails to tell them I got some bad hair. This place is such a scam there is no way the hair is human like is this horse hair…? It broke off, dried out, and started falling out after one single wash. So much money wasted. Initially they said if I wasn’t satisfied then it’s always a full refund or they would order new hair for a full reinstall. Every time I try to reach out they said I must be washing the hair with bad product and they recommend I come in to buy their product…I have been washing with the product they recommended and sold to me after I had the hair installed…this place is such a scam it’s sad. Regret it but I should have listened to all the other negative reviews.

Absolutely best salon not only for extensions but also colour perfection. They transformed my hair and I absolutely love it. The adjustments appointments are quick and you also have a great visit with your stylist. Professional and personalized service with an incredible team. Great hair is an investment - stop wasting your money elsewhere and book in for a consultation.

Love this salon! I've been a client for over 5 years. Their hair extensions consistently last for a very long time and the products they sell to maintain the hair is top quality. I especially love the oi oil. All the staff are very kind and easy to talk to. I've followed this salon from Whyte ave, to jasper ave, and now to their current location. At the extensionist, going to the salon is always a positive experience for me. The salon itself is centrally located, beautiful inside, and clean.

The positive reviews are paid Instagram models sadly i do not understand why the hair stylist not wearing a mask and coughing but saying it’s just a flu. But I had to wear a mask? But not the hair stylist who is sick?

Have been blown away since day 1. All staff made me feel so welcome and I never felt embarrassed or ashamed of my fine hair. The extensions I had installed blend seamlessly and I’m always getting compliments on how healthy my hair looks. Eva is so great to work with and I always look forward to my touch up appointments. Definitely recommend!

Gorgeous salon. The girl that helped us was not very knowledgeable. Pricing that I was given was pretty insane. And if i'm going to get my hair done the person doing my hair should have their hair on point. If you work at a place that does extensions maybe you should promote the product. Definitely never going back.

I have endured not one, but two absolutely heartbreaking experiences with The Extensionist. I would highly recommend that anyone thinking of purchasing a wig from them, save yourself the tears and heartache and DON'T. I have been wearing wigs (synthetic, human hair, mixtures, you name it) for approx. 25 years and I've never received a wig that was such poor quality (literally-unwearable; unless under a hat to completely cover the crown). Did I mention the price tag for this was $1800.00 - that I'd ordered it in September and finally received in June (9 months). They did inform there would be a longer wait due to covid (completely understandable). They also did reimburse me (minus the tip I'd provided for the free consultation). They're so big on their statements in providing women who endure hair loss with the upmost service and quality and I am writing this review solely in hopes that no other woman, or man leaves this salon in tears, feeling the complete opposite of beautiful as I did. I did reach out to them via Instagram messaging to explain my story and experiences, providing pictures (although the manger herself had taken multiple pictures- even stating the piece was unwearable).
I have yet to receive a response from them. I have decided to proceed with a complain to the Competition Bureau under the False or Misleading Representation sector. Their website provides ample information and statements regarding their hair loss services - which none have deemed true.

I have been going to The Extenionist for 4 years now. In the past I have had trouble keeping my natural hair healthy but with the vogue pearl technique I have been able to have long beautiful blonde extensions while helping my nature hair get healthy and noticeably start to grow. Megan Lowry is amazing at her job but she is truly such a great human as well. I always look forward to my appointments with her!

I came in over a week ago and had extensions done, I’ve been debating for over a year on if I should get some but with how much I hated my hair I finally contacted Eva and she made the process so easy! Was so friendly the entire time I felt like I was catching up with an old friend and the final product was amazing I am in love with my hair and couldn’t be happier

After researching and reading all the reviews I was really looking forward to having extensions put in here. The advertising was pretty compelling for someone going through a hair crisis, so I booked the consult anticipating a dramatic improvement to my hair and my self esteem.

When I read the reviews, most of which were positive I took note of the poor ones where customer service was the issue and hoped it wouldn't be my experience. Sadly that hasn't been the case. My first appointment was rushed due to a lack of communication between the staff and stressful as a result. Thankfully I loved the colour which was not at all what was planned at the consult, and the hair is gorgeous but, I didn't have the excited feeling I'd hoped for. I ended up just wanting to be finished and have nice hair at the end of it.

I've had my extensions in for less than 2 months. The customer service is frankly terrible. The stylist who installed my extensions was very nice as was the woman who did my touch up though.

The extensions looked awesome for 2 weeks then the weft detached on the sides. I had a touch up at 3 weeks because I couldn't leave it looking like that until my 4 week appointment. I had another touch up and again it's only lasted 2 weeks. I need another one because they've come detached again. I can't get an appointment for a few weeks because they're closed.

Without going into all of the details of the negative customer service experiences I've had so far the stand outs for me.

Rushed consultation

Several short notice appointment cancellations.

Several unanswered emails and no addressing of my concerns.

Overcharged and the promotion that brought me in and had been worked out at the consultation (with a $500 deposit) was never honoured. Email inquiring about it was ignored as were all other concerns.

Hair detaches after 2 weeks. (I follow the hair bible and take good care of my "investment")

Touch up appointment was cancelled and no insight on how to deal with this floppy weft in the meantime.

So after over $1900.00 into this process I have long hair with a nice colour but, it looks terrible and unless I want to drive to Calgary or reinvest somewhere else here we are.

I hope if you invest your money here that the odds are in your favour and you can add to the other great reviews. Sadly I cannot.

They do a really nice job! And the hair stylists are always friendly and welcoming so it’s not awkward when you’re in the chair!

Such an amazing place! The staff is super knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Tay did an amazing job! I absolutely love my extensions.

My clip-ins were very dry and frizzy from the start, the stylist said that it was only because they were just a little dry and that they would get better in a few days, they also had a gross pink undertone from the original colour. I don't remember the girls name because it was right at the beginning of last school year that i got them. I don't know if it was just a one time fluke but they were not worth almost $800

Overall great experience at The Extensionist. The salon is absolutely beautiful inside. La La La Love the decor! The staff are very welcoming and I was very lucky to be booked with Taylyn! She's AMAZING at what she does and ensures that you are happy with the results. I highly recommend The Extensionist!

My hair was extremely short due to a horrific experience at a salon in the US. I was not happy with my first installation of extensions and Taylyn set things right. I am very happy with the colour and the extensions and would like to commend Taylyn for her expertise and caring!

For the past 12 years I have tried all types of extensions and never had the hair experience from The Extensionist! Well let me tell you something; I have found the best extensions! The quality of the hair, the techniques and most of all, the artist behind it all: Taylyn! This was my first time getting hair extensions and I was more than pleased with the whole experience. The salon is very cute and tidy. The girl at the reception desk was really friendly and a big hats off to Taylyn for the amazing job she did on making me feel beautiful! She was extremely informative and has phenomenal talent. I will definitely be coming back and will recommend the Extensionist and Taylyn to all my girlfriends!

I had a fabulous experience at The Extensionist! I arrived for my first appointment for colour and installations and was pleasently greeted by Megan. She had a wonderful upbeat energy that created a relaxed environment for the entire appointment. She was extremely kind and patient with all my questions. She was happy to share all her knowledge to ensure my experience in the salon and at home was supporting my investment in the best possible way. I look forward to my many follow ups with her and am extremely happy with my choice to have my extension care with Megan and The Extensionist!

Jenna is a fantastic stylist! This is my first time having extensions and she color matched perfectly, and also did my tone and gloss amazingly. She is very skilled and the process went by so quick! Not only is she a great stylist, but she's a great person to talk to and she made the whole experience really fun!

Causes baldness. They will always deny it for marketing purposes but it WILL destroy your hair and scalp. It caused several bald spots in each bead spot, which never grew back even after 3 years of no extensions. They also color matched me wrong twice which resulted in ugly/fake looking hair that costed upwards of $2000. On top of the horrible service from the receptionists.

I have been coming to the extensionist for almost 2 years now! I’ve gotten 3 sets of extensions from them and they have been amazing! All the girls here are so sweet and very helpful, they are always very accommodating for my needs! When i first came into the salon i had essentially a mullet and they were able to completely blended the hair together to make the extensions look very natural.my hair has grown and gotten so much healthier by the technique they use.would highly recommended the extensionist as a salon to go to!
