The IUD & Women's Clinic

I made an appointment online, or a request for an appointment, and it was declined with no explanation right after they closed for the weekend so I couldn't even call them to ask why.

Leaves a message for you to call them back, but their automatic response is on so you can't even talk anyone and in the original voicemail they don't state what their hours are to call back. So good luck

I had an IUD inserted for the first time almost a week ago and feel compelled to write about my experience at this clinic. I was quite nervous about the procedure as I had heard many horror stories about IUD insertion, not just pertaining to pain but also to the doctor's level of professionalism.
I first had a phone call consultation with Dr. Yurkowski, who did a great job answering any questions I had.
Upon getting to the clinic on the day of insertion, the staff member I initially spoke with was very friendly. They then had me wait in a waiting room for Dr. McGruthers.
All I have to say is that Dr. McGruthers is the real deal. She was very friendly, didn't make me feel rushed as I asked questions about the procedure itself and the aftercare, and was very realistic when it came to what I might experience - she said that what patients feel during insertion is variable and this kept my expectations in check. During the insertion itself she informed me of what she was doing every step of the way. For anyone wondering, yes, it was pretty painful, but over very quickly (I have definitely felt worse pain in my life!). One of the reasons I chose this clinic was because I wanted a doctor who had done this many times before. Of course there can always be complications with any medical procedure but thankfully I did not experience any and the process was very quick for me, and I have to say that Dr. McGruthers' skill and experience certainly contributed to this.
I feel very blessed to have been assigned Dr. McGruthers as my physician for insertion and look forward to seeing her for my follow up appointment.

Visited the clinic today for a routine check up. The doctor I seen was Lauren, and I must say it was a complete 360 from the last appointment I had 4 years ago. If you can request/wait for Lauren to see you, I highly recommend it!

Thank you to this clinic, Dr. L. McGruthers and her staff I was taken care of. They took me in right away as I told them how uncomfortable I was feeling. Problem solved I feel better now.:)

Great experience. The doctor was very nice and provided lots of information. I got an IUD and was very nervous and she helped me feel comfortable throughout the process.

Absolutely worst receptionist I've ever encountered. Took me 3 different phone calls to make a appointment.first two times I got misinformed by her.saying I could just set up a appointment online, nope I waited and it got cancelled. The girl answering the phone I've repeated myself 50 times and she doesn't know how to spell simple English.and I have to then spell it out another 50 times. To have her get it wrong and me have to call back again. She's uneducated about everything, and very rude. She called me again today, probley to ask me how to spell again. Worst expierence ever, I don't want to even see a doctor here because of the horrible service from the receptionist.

Great experience in this clinic. Staff are helpful and the doctors and very knowledgeable. My doctor explained every steps during iud insertion. The only downside is the parking so make sure to arrive early to find a spot.

I’ve been seen Dr Lauren for years and today, as usual, I felt fantastic after my appointment thanks to her outstanding care.

She is so knowledgeable, respectful and always take the time to listen to me and to explain every detail of the procedure with kindness and empathy. I’m very grateful to be her patient.

I’ve been coming here for over 11 years since it was the NE Womens Clinic. I’ve been seeing Dr. Shergill for many years now and I absolutely love her! Super sweet, accommodating, always helpful and offers numerous solutions to issues I had in the past. There’s nowhere else I’d rather go to be honest!

Since my first phone appointment Dr. Rachel Greenwood was very knowledgeable and made me feel calm and confident.

My procedure was quick and smooth and she was very kind all the time.

Dr. Sawatsky is hands down one of the best doctors! I Saw her through my pregnancy and loved every bit of it. She was calm, attentive, and answered all the questions I had; with it being my first pregnancy, it made it way easier for me to navigate through this path. Returned calls when I felt uneasy and reassured me quiet often. Her team at the hospital were as amazing as she had mentioned them to be. Couldn’t have asked for a better dr and better team to help bring new life into this world!

Coming to this clinic has been the best healthcare experience I have ever had. I wish I could be their patient for all of my needs. I hope to find a family doctor who will treat me with as much care and respect as I receive from the doctors at this clinic. I am never rushed, they always take me seriously, and my overall mental and physical health have been taken care of diligently by these fantastic women. Having A female doctor from this specific clinic has honestly changed my life for the better.

My daughter was referred to this clinic to get an IUD. The treatment she received at this place was the worst. She came back crying for hours because of how humiliating and demeaning the experience was. The way she described to our doctor was that she felt violated. I will not ever recommend this place to anyone. I just don’t understand how they can call themselves a woman’s clinic when they make women feel violated.

My phone consult only rang once and I missed the call on my cellphone. (not sure if it is my service, but i had 4 bars & this has happened before with the clinic's phone consults). The doctor then called my HOME number which I had specified to not call. The IUD CLINIC name popped up on my home phone which has caused issues.

They said they would call from a private number but the IUD CLINIC name pops up on your phone!

Also they didn't mention this before but you have to pay 50$ for any missed phone consults - even if your phone only rang once or bad service. The name that they charge you with is also going to show up on your card statement as IUD CLINIC.

The doctor was nice but if young girls/women are accessing services without their parents/guardians knowing, doctors should be more careful in keeping the services more private - especially if the patient has mentioned to not call specific numbers.

I'm normally terrified by doctors, but Dr. Wood helped me feel so at ease! My phone consult was super information and helpful. They were about to get me in quickly and everyone I interacted with in the office was super friendly. HIGHLY recommended seeing these ladies for your vaginal health needs.

Being from a different city, I have yet to find a GP or OBGYN in Calgary. So after being prescribed my IUD from my regular doctor when I visited my home town, I book a consult online for the clinic.

The phone consult felt rushed, and the doctor made me feel like I was burdening her with booking an appointment.

They were able to get me in two weeks from my consult which was great!

But when I arrived, IUD in my bag, I still felt grossly unprepared and uninformed. I was not expecting to have to give a urine sample, so I peed at home. Luckily I drink lots of water. And they were unable to even tell me what the sample was for.

The ladies at the front also weren’t the most welcoming, and I felt insecure.

However, the only redeeming part of this appointment was when the doctor was explaining the side effects, and putting it in, as she talked me through the whole thing.

But afterwards she did rush through the after procedure stuff, and I didn’t feel like I was getting personalize healthcare, which I know can be tough with Covid. So I am keeping that in mind.

All in all, it wasn’t the best experience, but I am happy to have it over with.

My experience with getting an iud here was absolutely amazing, everyone made me feel so comfortable considering I have very high anxiety and was insanely nervous. They let my boyfriend sit in the lobby which was very kinda because were in a pandemic and you always have to be carful I didn’t think he was able to come in at all but I was grateful they let him be there for me, I’m just so happy and thankful for clinics like this! Had such an amazing experience would recommend getting an iud here

I had Dr. Laura Wood and she was awesome! I had to get my IUD in before moving provinces, and she was able to get me in for an ultrasound to make sure everything was still ok before I left.
Process was fairly quick. I was able to get the video consultation, IUD, and ultrasound within a week. **Keep in mind that my situation is a special case scenario. **

If anything were to go wrong, I would’ve have to look for another doctor in the new province. So I really appreciate the accommodation!

Basically just a conveyor belt for IUD insertion. Yeah the doctors know IUD, but they are in such a rush and really do not care about patient recovery or how they are feeling. Getting my first IUD done here really terrified me and Im never going back. I would not recommend going here unless you are desperately in a rush. They just don't give enough information or patient care.

Dr. Ung is extremely knowledgeable, informative, kind and caring. My original appointment was to just consult for an IUD, but she mentioned that the consultation and the procedure could be done on the same day.

Her advice was comprehensive, respectful of my needs and I felt she gave me the confidence to make an informed decision.

I was nervous about the procedure, but Dr. Ung was incredibly reassuring and provided detail explanations of everything that would happen (even to include that the pharmacy next door would give asprin/tylenol when I filled my prescription). The procedure itself took about 10 minutes with step by step instructions relayed by the doctor. A small amount of cramping, but not at all as bad as I had read it could be!

The office staff are also friendly and it seems like a really cohesive and fun working environment. I like seeing happy staff!
I also got a juice box on the way out!

Staff was pleasant.the doctor I saw was very informative and happy to answer questions (not even just about the iud but other random questions I had) without being condescending. She also explained what she was doing and why which I appreciated. Also, super convenient that there’s a pharmacy that stocks iuds a few doors down. I was in and out (consult, iud pick up, and insertion) in a little under an hour.

Awesome place to get your IUD done at I would definitely recommend this place to everyone it was easy and fast and there doctors are very helpful and professional and very friendly and very caring. I was a little bit nervous but when it was done it was actually better than I thought it was going to be.

Waited 2 months to find out if the last iud harmed my body internally to be pushed aside and rushed I was given a prescription but my body was not given quality care. I domt know if its because i am first nation but I am saying other native ladies just be mindful they may have higher rating from others but I have been here twice both times I was rushed and wasnt listened to I said I wanted a checked but only given a prescription and told to get birth control I felt no real concern for my body. I dont want others to feel this way especially other first nation women

Amazing clinic. The doctor I had was very informed, very understanding and everything went really well. I would definitely recommend to anyone nervous about getting an iud.

Staff are super friendly and doctor was very kind and knowledgeable and information was shared in an easy-to-understand format. The whole process went by quickly with only a few minute wait in the waiting room and immediately could go to the pharmacy next door to purchase product and return for insertion.

This is the best experience I have ever had at any clinic, let me explain why.

I went to my family doctor a couple months ago about having an IUD inserted and was told they can do it in my doctors clinic instead of being sent out to the IUD & womens clinic. When it came time to insert the IUD, after 30 minutes of painful and failed attempt I was sent for an ultrasound. I was informed that I would have to see a surgeon to have my IUD inserted under sedation and that a surgeon would contact me.

I thought this seemed a bit strange so I booked with The IUD & womens clinic and got in within 1 month. They were not only extremely professional and kind, but also very informative. I was able to choose my IUD, pay for it immediately and have it inserted the same day (without any complications). The doctor I visited was Dr. Lauren McGruthers. I was blown away by her professionalism and speed with the procedure and wish I booked with her initially.

For anyone looking to have an IUD inserted, please don't make the same mistake as me and get it done right the first time. This place is amazing. Great staff, great experience. Thank you for restoring my faith.

I highly recommend this clinic! The receptionists were caring and squeezed me in when I was having an emergency situation with my IUD. The doctors were knowledgeable and compassionate and came up with a plan that worked for me going forward. I will be returning!

When I originally went in to get my IUD changed I had such a great experience, the staff was helpful and I had a doctor who was really nice and knowledgable. All around my experience was very positive. I just went back for my IUD check up and a pap test. After everything was all done my doctor told me I was good for another 3 years and then decided to slide in “Im sure you will wait another 5 years for your next IUD insertion” in a very condescending tone and I said “I know, I need to be better” and she said she was kidding but, it was very clear she wasn't. I found that be very rude, off putting and it left me feeling very disappointed. I am very aware that I had waited too long but, I do not need my doctor to shame me about it. Just very disappointing considering I had such a great experience the first time.

I love doctor McGruthers I havent seen a Gyno in 8yrs because of trama and she was absolutely amazing for my pap test and my IUD. I do find the phone staff a bit rushed and want to throw you at any doctor available which for some people that's okay but they need to take in to consideration not everyone is comfortable with people between their legs considering another doctor may not understand why things were done the way they were. Not all IUDs are done for birth control.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could, totally loved my experience here. I got called in exactly at my appointment time, staff was very friendly and the doctor I seen is just wonderful. Thanks Dr. Datta, so glad I called this place!

I got my IUD put in 5 years ago and it went amazing! Staff are very friendly and its a really nice clinic- I now see Dr. Christine O'Reilly she is wonderful, shes very sweet and very knowledgeable.all of my appointments including my IUD replacement were quick and easy.would highly recommend her and this clinic to anybody.

Super fast, friendly, and so clean! Efficient without being pushy, informed and excellent communicators. Called to book a few hours after being referred. Definitely worth getting all the care you can from this place.

Dr. Toor was great, she explained every step as she inserted the IUD in. She also showed the various different IUDs you can get and which one that would be best suited for you.

I've been consulting for three years.the treatment has been excellent, the doctors in general are very friendly and you are encouraged to ask everything. They take the time to explain in detail.

I saw Dr. Rachel and Dr. Sawatsky for my recent pregnancy, and I honestly can’t rave enough about the exceptional care they provided! They are wonderful, caring, knowledgeable doctors who always made me feel comfortable and reassured. Dr. Sawatsky is part of a maternity group that delivers out of the Rockyview and my delivery and postpartum experience there was incredible!
Booking my prenatal appointments was always very simple (can be done easily online), and I never had trouble getting in when I needed to. The support staff are all very professional and friendly as well! I would highly recommend this clinic for prenatal care! In my opinion it’s the best in the city!

The entire staff at this clinic is awesome. Everyone is super nice and caring. They make you feel comfortable the doctors and team there don’t make you feel weird or uncomfortable when you talk about what’s going on. There absolutely amazing. Wish I found them sooner!

Dr. Toor was fantastic. In and out in under 20 minutes, super friendly staff and Dr. Toot gave me info that my own family doctor didn’t, super grateful to have found this clinic!

I had an IUD inserted a couple of months ago. I had a painful insertion, but the doctors and receptionists made sure I rested, took painkillers, and was okay before I left. The doctor went above and beyond by calling me the day after just to make sure I was alright. I definitely recommend this clinic, as well as taking painkillers before your appointment!
