Nothing but good things to say about my experience at the Keg tonight, service was above and beyond, you could tell he had experience and it showed in everyway. It just goes to show that good service is still out there, I left full, satisfied and feeling great. Ty
Have always had a good time here but as a new recently diagnosed celiac I was a little disappointed at the few options on the menu. Let alone a gluten free menu. When I asked the server if I could get a small salad instead of the table bread the server said "no", without even clearing it from a manager. Instead said I could purchase the "classic" and get it for $10 more. I understand that this is my issue I need to live with but do also feel that if a business is offering something to non-diet regular customers, then a simple accommodation can be made for people who have certain dietary restrictions.
We ate in during the May long weekend. They were able to seat us without reservations. Service was good, but the food was better! It's always worth going to the Keg!
The food at the keg is always good but we had the best server here! Dan was so lovely, kind and attentive! Definitely made our visit at The Keg. Thank you Dan!
Went in for a light supper, just appies in the lounge. Had the scallops and bacon skewer and a vaked brie with a scotch. Asked the waiter what scotch he likes, I tried that one. Forgot the name of it, but dang was it good. Paired just right with the bacon. The brie had already cooled a bit by arrival but was still good and melty. The skewer on the other hand was so hot they warned menot to touch it, which I promptly ignored and learned my lesson well. The high point had to be the pepper jelly that came with the brie though. Light, sweet, and gently hot, very delicious and allowed the cheese flavors through. Someone dropped a cup and broke it at one point, but the servers were quick to respond quietly and professionally.
Escorts were terrible. Had them 3 times terrible.sat at the bar.service terrible bartender was hard to get along with.very sad and disappointing again. I'm done with the keg.
4 of the 5 times I've been here they can't get a steak to medium/medium rare. Only blue rare or well done. Worst ribeye ever. Service is ok but lacking with so many workers here. Atmosphere hasn't changed in 30 years. Plain. Seems Red Deer is famous for being bad.
Walked out tonight, they took away the 3 cheese butter again. Honestly only thing that makes it worth the price there. We have a gift certificate and still walked out. Keg in Red Deer is really a shame now.
I don't go here very often, except for special occasions but I always like the ambiance and atmosphere. Dimly lit, sound doesn't seem to carry and the furniture is comfortable.
I highly recommend booking a table as this place is always busy after 5 PM and then line up and wait can get extensive.
I definitely recommend trying the escargot and brie cheese, pesto and jelly platter. These are two appetizers I almost always get every time I go.
We celebrated our 24th anniversary on Nov 28. The server went above and beyond, super friendly and great recommendations. The starter was delicious and the main course was outstanding. Portions were generous. Very happy all around.
You guys are on fire in the BEST way possible. My hubby and I, along side our little 3 month old went in for a date night Dec 17th 2022. I have never seen the place so busy it was actually insane.
The hostess, serving staff, chefs and management were on POINT! So kind, fast, and efficient. It was evident that there was great training and expectations in place to provide a seamless experience and I thank you for that! And the steak was one of the best Iv had from the Keg that night. Seamlessly done guys! And Shaniya with a “Y” fab job:)
Went for my sisters 3 year sobriety celebration. The first problem we were greeted to a dirty table. Bad start. Apps were solid. 2nd problem. She wanted medium well steak and she's received a medium rare one. Ok. She asks for a new one. Makes it clear. Will take a new steak. What do they do? Recook her original one after all the juices leave the steak. And pretend they didn't hear the request for a new steak. Never had problems here before so. Would give it another shot but. Rough service
Me and my husband were in tonight for much needed relaxing night out and our waitress Kaitlyn more than made that a success. She was an exceptional example of what service should be, we were delighted. Thank you.
Have been to this restaurant many times in past 7 yrs. Always had great service and consistent food. Tonight we visited for my wife's birthday. Appies arrived and did not see a server till we had finished them. Did not have opportunity to order another drink or wine. Our wine order was taken when the entrees arrived and showed up when we had finished most of our meal. Very disappointing.
The Keg Steakhouse in Red Deer has exceptional leadership and is a very positive place to work. Travis’ positivity and sincerity promotes a productive and positive work environment.
The Keg maintains a high standard for dining, hospitality, and consistency. I am glad for the opportunity to work here and to have served so many friendly guests.
As usual the Keg has superb food! There is a ton of gluten free options for the wife and daughter that are very enjoyable. Unfortunately the deserts only include creme brulle and ice cream for gluten free, but thankfully they are both so good my wife likes to come just for dessert.
During their summer meals they fly in the crab and lobster every two weeks and you could taste the freshness. The steaks are absolutely top tier as well, definitely no cheaping out.
Prices are comparable to other restaurants of its caliber and the wait staff is very friendly and helpful. There was a couple snags in our order where two little things were missed, but it was immediately remedied and could easily be blamed on the fact that this was a table of 8 including two kids.
Overall it is hard to top the quality of food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Food was mediocre. Flavor was lacking and price was absurd. I would expect flavorful delicious food for prices like that. However service was absolutely amazing. Very welcoming and friendly. If I do go back it will strictly be for prime rib. Everything else I'd rather go to earls. Cheaper and more food options for everyone.
Picked up Takeout tonight and was disgusted in what you get for $89.00. Between 2 orders; 6 pieces of zucchini and 4 pieces of peppers for the vegetable portion, 5 pieces each? Mushroom caps aren’t even a full mushroom, more like 1 mushroom cut up into 6 pieces. So a piece of steak, 5 pieces of vegetables, and a small Caesar salad, $38? RIP OFF! Pay higher prices for way less food…? Will never eat there again.
Great service and the sides are what you'd expect from the Keg, usually very consistent. The prime rib was OK, however. The taste was somewhat muted from a usually top cut of beef, especially given the price. Desert (birthday) was really good.
The steaks were very good, and although my prime rib was quite fatty, the rest of it was very tender and flavourful. The mushrooms, vegetables (zuchinni and peppers), mashed potatoes and Ceasar salad were also lovely. My husband also enjoyed his meal. I'm glad it was so enjoyable because it definitely adds up.
Went there for a birthday dinner, our server was AMAZING the rest not so great, we got our appetizers in a very short time but when it came to our meals it took over an hour from the time we ordered to when we got our food. They told us one of the baked potatoes had dropped on the ground so they had to make a new one.which things happen so totally understandable. When we finally got our meals all the steak was over cooked and very rubbery, (we felt all the other dinner plates were sitting under the heat lamp this whole time) and the baked potato that they were cooking was VERY undercooked and still hard. We were very disappointed with the quality of food we had just spent $300 on. We did get a free desert for this but it doesn’t fix the quality of food.
Decided to go out for a nice dinner last night as we normally love the keg due to consistently and high quality. The service was amazing. The first order of calamari was sent back due to being way over cooked like chewing on a dried rubber band the second order came out way better but still not what we’re used to getting. The mains we picked were the oven roasted chicken and the ribs they both lacked flavour and seasoning it was like eating bare meat the chicken was very bland and the sides amounted to nothing, the ribs barely had any sauce and zero seasoning the meat was tender but a huge disappointment for what were used to and a 130$ bill in the end. Something has defiantly changed and the quality has gone down a substantial amount.
Not the same as before. Steak was very poor quality and unseasoned. Lobster was rubber. This seems to be a trend for restaurants right now as they seem to be using lower quality to increase margins due to the prolonged Covid shutdowns. Service was excellent.
Seafood connoisseur here! The lobster with steak is mindblowing! Ate at this location the first time about a week ago and it was wonderful! Great service and fulfilling meals!
We had dinner at The Keg last night and it was awesome. I was skeptical with some of the reviews and our last visit was likely 2 years ago & we weren’t impressed but last night was wonderful. We had the calamari for an appetizer & both had the steak special. Service was great & so was the meal.
We go here every year for birthdays anaverseries and Valentine's amazing food but it keeps getting more and more expensive now we're over $40 for a steak lol one year thy lost my reservation and we had to find out when we arrived there so we had to fine another restaurant on v -day not cool keg not cool
Went for dinner last night.the server was wonderful.but that was the only good thing about our visit.close to an hour after being seated we got our meals.ordered medium well steaks.they came out rare.sent them back to have them corrected.came back medium rare.sent back a third time only to have a manger to rudely ask me to check to make sure it was done to my liking.by then it was well done and like rubber.tried to eat it but it was terribly burnt.they took the steak off the bill but still charged me for the bernaise and blue cheese crust that i didn't get to eat because i had no steak to go with it.the manager/chef seemed to be irritated each time he approached our table.the keg is normally my go to for a nice dinner but this has left such a bad taste in my mouth I won't be back for a while.
Tried to order take out but was told that they could not do it, because it was busy. Is that not what happens in a restaurant, they get busy? I guess they can only serve customers that dine in and not the ones that just aren't comfortable with the whole dining in yet with all those strangers. Shame on you Keg Red Deer.
This was my first time at The Keg and I was not disappointed! I had the special, filet mignon wrapped in bacon with shrimp and scallops. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. Our server Ashely was gave us outstanding service and was very pleasant. I will be back!
A great place for a steak. It's wise to book ahead, we did. There were many people hoping to get a table without a reservation. Maybe it's time for a second Keg in Red Deer.
