The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Banff Caribou

The Keg restaurant boasts a positive experience with its friendly staff and pleasant environment. The combination of attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere adds to the overall satisfaction for diners.

Loved the dinner I had here. Delicious, great value for money (because I ate and had a glass of wine + dessert during happy hour) and amazing service!
However, the hot chocolate and coffee I had at other times were very poor and I heard not so great things about breakfast (including the coffee) from other guests so I'm glad I didn't do that.

Everything from the service to the food and drinks was incredible.

Our server was friendly, offered some amazing drink and dessert recommendations, and went above and beyond bringing our 4yr old a veggie plate while we waited for our order.
My husband’s steak Oscar was decadent and cooked to a perfect medium rare; my pistachio encrusted salmon was moist and perfectly seared. The Billy Miner Pie was recommended, and I can see why this is a fan favourite. Delicious ice cream cake with oodles of chocolate, caramel and almond slices. And the crème brûlée was lovely—light and refreshing with a beautiful caramelized top.
This will definitely be on our places to come back to on a future visit to Banff.

My wife and I ate here recently and everything was perfect! The cosy atmosphere and service were A-1. I couldn't decide what steak to eat so Jamie our server recommended the Kansas City striploin and man it was so delicious even the sauce too! We will be back next time we are in Banff.

23$ breakfast buffet consisting of 10 food choices (one being tomatoes) that I wouldn’t pay 10$ for. Eggs Benedict is hard boiled eggs, luke warm and likely microwaved from frozen. Powdered eggs, canned fruit and cottage cheese.

Price should be cut in half or buffet entirely overhauled. Not what you’d expect from ‘The Keg’.

The bar is also pretty underwhelming - one small tv, again just not what you’d expect from The Keg.

Service was fine but very slow.

Booked reservations at wrong KEG but we're still able to accomodate us. We really appreciate it! Steak came out wrong doneness. Staff was helpful and fixed order.

Wednesday night october 18th, the Keg in Banff Alberta, 521 Banff street. Our server made the difference in our experience. We love the Keg but this gentleman made it so much better with the service and kind approach.

Food was amazing, the steak was cooked perfectly and ate way too much. Classic Keg experience!

Literally the worst steak ever. I work in Banff and every month I stay for 3-4 nights. I have been trying different restaurants as a hobby and over the last 10 months this has been the most horrible experience. I ordered a medium well steak but it came almost rare, full of blood, extremely salty and very hard to chew… I wanted to try something different than regular mashed potatoes and ordered mushroom rice on the side. God! That was an icing on the cake, cold, hard and tasteless. Went somewhere else just to get something and change the taste left in my pallet…
Didn’t order any drinks, appetizers or dessert so can’t judge those parts.

Went for evening drinks and the server looked permanently mad. Had to wait forever to order more drinks.

Tried the buffet- DO NOT have breakfast here. It is not the standard you’d think a Keg would provide. Food cooked poorly and not fresh, very little options. We had the buffet as well as ordered off the menu. When we asked why the eggs Benedict wasn’t cooked/made correctly the server basically told us the buffet items are made with less time/ effort…….

Ordered over easy eggs 3 times and they came over hard do not recommended till they get a cook that knows how to cook a simple egg

We had a reservation for 730 pm. There had already run out of prime rib, their speciality. So I settled for Rib Eye steak which was good. My wife had the picstacio crusted salmon which was awesome.

We ordered the pancakes with berry compote, side of fruit and spent the extra $5 each on the Canadian maple syrup. The food was nice and well sized, I wouldn’t bother paying extra for the syrup and just use the table syrup that’s provided with no extra cost. Otherwise service was nice and we were catered to within great time.

The breakfast buffet was not very good. The food was cold. The french toast was good. 3 pieces of fluffly bread. Eggs Benedict was just gard boiled egg, not really poached. Would nit recommend.

Omg best beef I've ever had. The service was fantastic. Nothing to much trouble, also the margaritas were fab too

Dinner was okay. Breakfast brunch the choices were always empty. Ate there 3 mornings and all the same situation.

The atmosphere at this keg is pretty fantastic. It is a little bit more dim so if you like lots of light I would suggest skipping this location. Unless you are going for breakfast, in which case the natural light is beautiful. We were here for both dinner and breakfast. Both meals were pretty good. Even though their eggs are a little oily. We found. The service was very good but a little bit delayed. We had to wait a little longer than we usually do at restaurants for service, but the servers themselves were delightful.

Quality of food and service across all Keg franchises I have been to are excellent and Keg Banff is no exception. Rib steak done Chicago style was cooked to perfection. Have to give a big shout out to our server Sonya - amazing service and super friendly. She certainly made our dining experience more enjoyable!

Excellent food, one of the best steaks I ever had. Special mention to Eve, she was fantastic. Kept checking in to see if everything was okay, made us all feel very comfortable and ensured we had a great dining experience. Eve provided a very great service!

This is our first time traveling to Banff, and for two consecutive nights, we chose to have dinner at The Keg restaurant near our hotel. However, the dinners on these two nights presented completely different dining experiences, leaving my family and me extremely astonished.

First night: Five stars/Five stars.
Second night: One star/Five stars.

On the first day, I ordered a 12oz medium top sirloin, and my family members ordered a medium-well steak & shrimp and a bowl of lobster bisque. We all thought the steaks were delicious, with perfect texture and doneness. With this positive impression, we decided to dine here again the next day. However, what awaited us was a nightmarish dining experience.

On the second day, I ordered an 18oz medium-well prime rib, while my family ordered a keg burger and the same top sirloin I had ordered the previous day. They opted for medium-well doneness. After a wait of nearly twenty to thirty minutes, our steaks and burger were served. However, as we tasted the food, issues with the steaks became apparent. My prime rib had varying degrees of doneness - from rare to medium-rare to medium to medium-well. It was as if a single piece of steak had multiple doneness levels. The top sirloin my family ordered was closer to well-done and even had burnt portions. The burger was equally disappointing, with dry beef patty devoid of any juiciness and poorly matched vegetables and sauces. It was the worst burger I've ever had.

Despite these problems, we still finish our dinner. But I believe we won't be visiting The Keg for dining again. I'm not sure if this is related to the chef, but I don't think it should be a reason for a restaurant to present dishes in such a manner.
