However, the food could be better. The ravioli was very watery and the portions of the other pasta dishes are minuscule. The desserts were good though and the peach gin-arita drink I got was good as well. The banana cheesecake was the winner of the night, the whole table loved it. My overall rating would probably be 3.75/5.

I came in with a friend to try the infamous "Living Room Shaft" and it did not disappoint! Our server/bartender Luke was incredibly personable, recommended "Lions, Tigers and Pears" which was delicious!

Would definitely recommend coming in and asking for Luke! Prices are reasonable and the service was awesome

I’ve come here quite a bit through the years, and I was really excited to take my friend who is visiting from Finland and give her the same experience I had previous times coming here. The restaurant wasn’t busy on the Thursday night. There were two tables, one of them being us. Instead of looking at the table where we sat, which clearly he would’ve had time to do. Instead, he assumed the worst of us. I had left the payment for our bill with a 20% tip on the hundred and something we spent there on the table. Instead of checking there first, he chased us down the street, shouting at us in public that we had dined and dashed, which was humiliating and not worth coming back to this restaurant ever again. I’m not saying he’s a bad server he did his job well and gave us service however that really was incompetent to not even check the table before chasing us down. Overall, the restaurant is very nice but that experience for me being the quality that I thought it was supposed to be was just the end of the living room for me

Lovely atmosphere. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli, which had a lovely hint of lemon. I recommend asking for the pork chop de- boned and sliced. It was excellent. And our sever Rachel was friendly and helpful.

Exceptional service. Waitress made sure to double check there would be no issues in accommodation for food allergies, appetizers came out quickly and the manager was very helpful when some party members weren’t completely in love with their dishes. 10/10 would recommend

One of our favorite restaurants on 17th, great food, decent prices at happy hour, good service and good atmosphere. But can be a little loud on the patio due to 17th, just be aware.

Best lounge in the lower mainland for Hookah with drinks with no compromising on the service.

Mike the owner is really good easy going person to whom we can request for changes if need to with no extra charges.

All in all best place in town.

Be nice if they could be reached by phone just to order ‍️ I cannot reach them. Not okay. It says to order on door dash. Tried that then it says temporarily unavailable on Door Dash. Lol. I guess this is meant to be walk in only because I cannot order through Skip, Door Dash. A waste of time trying using every option possible for delivery options. This restaurant does not answer phones as I called 4 times. It it a money making operation, not caring about customer service, only good food. Sad Ohh well, there are many other restaurants to contact as I wish this company did not lie on their online site as there are absolutely no online delivery options. * False advertising

We had a staff Christmas function here, in their private space downstairs, and it was a fantastic evening. From working with us on the menu selections to our fabulous server, Acacia, we were treated great and had a wonderful night. Thanks to all who contributed to the experience and the food. We will definitely be back.

Soooo. I love the living room. It’s my favourite restaurant in Calgary. The service on our birthday reso was disappointing.

Our server was very clueless with the menu and was unable to recommend us a drink and food choices. She never offered to get someone more knowledgeable (my two guests had never been there before so they were very interested to hear about the cooks, the food or the history) and just left us with “well, everything is good here so”. Every interaction was awkward. We always needed water but the servers kept the water on the wall-ledge that sticks out from the wall, instead of our very roomy tables that could have accommodated it, and we could have pour our own water. The wall-water situation was very strange looking, not very fine dining. Very weird.

The food was good and it might have felt more worth it if the service was the same. No one went out of their way to say happy birthday to us, even though our reservation was booked as a birthday celebration. No one mentioned anything about it.

Living Room, please test your servers regularly. It was a disappointing experience. Not what I would expect at a fine dining experience.

I’ve been coming for 5+ years and I have noticed a dip in the restaurants integrity.

I made the wrong choice for our birthday celebration as The Living Room didn’t feel very special at all.

I went here tonight for the first time tonight on a date. It was definitely loud, but we were fortunately seated in the back corner, so this allowed us to actually have a conversation. The only issue I had was the tables being so close and the creepy drunk old man beside us staring at my date the whole time. The food was AMAZING! We got the oysters, Sturgeon, and half chicken. They were all quite good. I would definitely go here again. Good date restaurant, but maybe not at 8 on a Saturday evening.

Very disappointed. The evening started with a bottle of Prisoner Chardonnay at almost $100 which the waitress opened and I tasted to discover it was at room temperature (31c) when I asked why it was not chilled she said “we only chill the regular sellers not the more expensive wines”…
Perhaps the Resturant can purchase another wine fridge?
Then the food came, and not to my surprise my wife’s mussels were undercooked. The main course were brought out while empty starter dishes were still on the table, but with wait staff that couldn’t be over 20 years old and clearly had next to no experience what could I have expected?
Won’t be going back.

Insanely good food, the patio is awesome! We had the cheese fondue with bread and cauliflower and it was incredible! The watermelon salad it a must and the butternut squash pasta was delicious but quite sweet. Best carrot cake ever!

Stop by for some good and health treats - we enjoyed the tomato salad and beef tartare a lot. Surrounding is very nicely decorated.

It is really nice place but it was so disapointed that my husband chicken was under cook and bloody! When we asked to fix it, we were told that for the chef it was good.

Not impressed with the booking system! If it was outstanding and busy I'd understand. It was empty. Had the fondue, it was boring.
The bright spot was our server who was wonderful.

We had the cheese fondue with a wine pairing which was good! The service was good and the server was really friendly. However, we were charged with an extra veggie side that did not come.

Came for some late night cheese fondue and it was really good! I maybe would have liked a wider array of veggies with the fondue; we just received grilled cauliflower which was good I guess but it's just cauliflower. I also think they should have a sign out front because it's not super clear if you're going there the first time. Great atmosphere and i'll definitely be back:)

Service was so slow. And they didn’t do anything for special occasions like birthday even you mentioned it when you booked the reservation. Food was very salty. Won’t go back.

First they left us without water and drinks for 30 minutes and I had to flag the waiter down to get refills. We then waited over an hour for our main which was the cheese fondue. I flag the waiter down and say I don’t want it anymore as it’s been an hour and he says he will bring it right away and take it off our bill so we said fine. Then after we are forced to eat the cold food they brought out they charged us more than what we were quoted with their “special” they decided to take off one drink each instead of the fondue which was only $20 off. I am so disgusted with the lack of customer service and also keep in mind the restaurant was not busy as they kept claiming I could see there were only 5 tables with people. If you want overpriced cold food enjoy eating here =)

Food is always outstanding! Shafts are the main reason we head there before a night out and if there’s no room to sit, they have a shaft window you can so you can pop in and enjoy their delicious espresso bevy quickly! Staff has always been remarkably kind, efficient, and keep the restaurant super clean! Love this place so much! Thinkin of the tartar is making me hungry just writing this!:)

We hosted an event at the living room restaurant and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful from the booking process all the way to dessert. The food was great, the mushroom ragu served with the duck breast is to die for. Our server, Acacia provided exceptional service throughout our meal.

We had a good experience, the food was very tasty and the service good. My chardonnay was awesome however I was not very impressed with there red. Bit more variety and some more full bodied reds with more tannins would be nice I think. They were all smooth tannins. Anyway thays just a side note for this place. The menu is very small as well but I guess so is the restaurant and thats probably why its called the loving room. Good atmosphere and I would go there again.

Only had their dessert, which is always a good experience. Their chocolate fondue has a delicious dark chocolate that is enough to satisfy 2-4 people. For $18 it can't really be beaten!

Fantastic menu that never disappoints. Some of the best service in the city, consistently. Amazing hospitality every single time. We had a guest that was celiac and they went over and above accommodating her! Nothing to complain about other than maybe the comfort level of the seats for a long period of time but if you drink enough your back doesn’t hurt anymore!

I cannot say enough good things about the living room restaurant - From the food to the staff everything was hands down amazing. We booked there downstairs event space for our wedding reception and everyone loved the food! From the first email that I had sent over, they answered every question I had within record time!

Dinner was ok. Felt very rushed and was obviously being being pushed out by staff as there were tables waiting
. And this being when there was mandatory gratitudity. Felt this was rude. Won't visit again!

We came for an amazing anniversary dinner. If you have kids like us I would suggest coming earlier for some privacy as it will get busier later. Great staff, amazing suggestions for plates. We will be back for the fondue.

We eat here often and host dinners for clients all the time because it’s always good! I’ve probably been about 2 plus times and they’ve never messed up even the slightest thing! Thank you Cliff!

Nice place with passionate waiters. The kitchen is quite variegated. Good the fondue and the Cajun chicken; to be instead a little revised (in my Italian opinion) the ravioli maybe with less sauce and more attention to the pasta and also the strawberry cake can be improved. It is however a good place to have dinner in Calgary.

First I'd like to share that I've worked with Éric Ripert, world renowned French Chef, at his 5 Diamond Blue Restaurant in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. And have paid top dollar for this prestigious place. I've also eaten at places like "The Keg", Chop, places like "Red Lobster" to "East Side Mario's" "Boston Pizza" etc. Needless to say, I've been and worked at many stages of all classes of restaurants in my life.

Firstly, The Living Room Restaurant is nothing short but a pretentious wanna be fine dining place with very highly expensive and very small portions and disappointing choice of food and dessert plates. The price is astounding for what you get. Rice Crispy Squares and a few tiny banana bread squares for chocolate fondue? Really? This is "upscale cuisine"?

Secondly, my amazing loving wife made a reservation for my birthday. It was a first time here for both of us and she wanted a nice memorable outing. She added this special occasion on the online reservation. Upon our arrival and giving our name for the reservation, the hostess had no clue that it was my Birthday only till I mentioned it. Thinking there would be some type of communication between the hostess and waiter, again, nothing at all till I mentioned it. Any chances to make a special personal service, connection and a however small effortless free little memory for us completely gone. "Upscale Restaurant"? Very unprofessional and disappointing yet again.

I'm not one to condone a free dessert at all for a birthday and some may believe it's cheap doing so as well, but when I was a waiter, bartender, from the 5 Diamond Restaurants to the lower scale ones, there is always opportunity for a fine and "Upscale" personal service to all in-house patrons for any special occasion.

Expenses and small portions aside, the most disappointing is letting a special, potentially memorable, opportunity for first time visitors slip away and remain completely non existent even after mentioning it three times (including reservation).

Epic Fail for an "Upscale restaurant" and completely unacceptable. I'm not going back. If my birthday is not special enough, this place is not worth the "Upscale" cost it instills.

Justin gave us an unbelievable experience. The food was amazing, but the standout service was something that is so rare. Amazing.

Quite disturbed Saturday night to see the host, Justin, shaking hands and 'high fiving' numerous guests around the restaurant, and then removing his mask and putting in pocket to flirt with a table of women - a good 5 minutes without mask on at their table, speaking over table, laughing etc. Restaurants just got opened again - did he miss the Covid messaging?

Used to dine here quite often. After last night's experience, I will not be returning.

Witnessed staff giving free drinks away, sitting and drinking with guests while working. (Violation of liquor laws)

One staff member sat and drank with at least three different tables while working and got to the point where he quite loudly made a holocaust joke with a guest about another staff member. I say quite loudly as I clearly heard the comment from 4 tables away.

This behaviour is totally unacceptable for a restaurant trying to portray itself in the fine dining image or in any restaurant for that matter.

Sad to say that I can no longer support this business and will not be returning if that is the kind of staff they will be employing.

I would highly recommend dining elsewhere on 17th Ave where the staff have a more professional demeanor and attitude about them!

There last night for dinner. Drinks are always good. Steak was made perfect. Best part of the restaurant is the staff, the owners/managers/wait staff are always super friendly. Definitely will keep going back.

The hostess was extremely derogatory which ultimately defined my experience there. Otherwise my server was attentive and my orders were enjoyable

I like to go with friends to this place with my highest recommendations. I go their often. This recommendation is always successful. The meals are delicious and the crew is attentive and cooperative. Every time we eat in this place we enjoy a pleasant time.highly recommended.

We have just finished a divine 4 course Chef's Choice meal with a half price bottle of French Rose (because it is Monday night). The food - scrumptious. The service - impeccable. Would I go again? Definitely! Best restaurant we have been to so far in Calgary! Not to be missed. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely date night with a fabulous server named penny who was kind and attentive. The living room is always a great stand by for some good food and good service, and always a shaft to the end the meal! A true calgary gem!

Easily the best fondue I've ever had but the risotto was undercooked it was really crunchy (even though it is supposed to be a little crunchy) it could have been cooked slightly longer

A wonderful restaurant. We walked in on a Valentine's Day night with a group and they found us seats quickly. The food came quick too. The fondue was the best

The food is expensive and mediocre at best. I ordered risotto which was quite undercooked, and had three orange slices and three plain small shrimp on top. My boyfriend got the tortelloni which was unremarkable (and a $14 chicken breast that seemed like what you get on a salad in a cafeteria). The charcuterie board was okay.

My boyfriend and I had early Valentine's day dinner here tonight. We had an waitress, all the staff is friendly and great. Food is divine. We had cheess fondue with amazing steak and prawn. Cant wait to come back in.the summer and enjoy the patio. Thank you for helping us make our evening special.

We went there as a group of four. We were ushered in quickly and sat in a nicely dimmed atmosphere. We were quickly offered and served drinks then waited patiently to order our meals. We ordered risotto, spaghetti and tortellini. The risotto came out warm and with three small prawns. The spaghetti was an ok size but quite spicy and the tortellini was only THREE pieces for $17.00. The staff never came to check on our meals or how we enjoyed it or to refill our drinks, left the bill on our table and we chased him down to pay it. Overall, flavor was ok, but service and portions were awful. The meal is now an ongoing joke, only enjoyed by the fact that we had great company.

Went there for my b~day dinner I was so excited for my fave dish black truffle fondue, found out as soon as we got there they had removed it from the menu. Then we had to move inside because we were there with my bf's parents and we couldn't even hear eachother talk over all of the youngsters drinking shots, and basically talking over eachother to get a word in. Once inside, I picked something else to eat it was not great (obvi not memorable because I don't remember what it was) and then a big group of partiers pulled up to the bar, yelling and doing shots as well, I was shocked because I thought the Livingroom was a nice place to go eat, so we just hurried through our meal and left.

My favourite date night place by far. My partner and I love the cheese fondue and adding beef. Yum! Great service, amazing food.

Came for a private event in their room. Wonderful atmosphere especially for a group of approx 30. The food was delicious with special mentions regarding the steak and black bean soup! The staff here are wonderful, friendly and accomodating. A good place for a gathering! The outside is quite decieving for what you find inside.

Cozy and homey feel but still upscale and modern. The oysters and fondue plates are what dreams are made of!

I came here for date night and was not dissapointed by the experience. We got the chefs tasting which includes 3 dishes with an additional dessert all included at the same price. The atmosphere was romantic with candles and smooth music playing in the background and a huge wine selection. The server was phenominal. He made sure that that we knew everything that was in the dishes, and made sure to keep our water cups filled. The food on the chefs menu rotates throughout the year. The food was great and filling. However for dessert we got a choclate fudge cake with chilli in it to make it spicy which I wasn't the biggest fan of. I am a return visitor and the quality of the resteraunt has held up. I will definately be coming back!

An amazing restaurant, great atmosphere and very friendly/ helpful waiters! We were looking for a new restaurant to try downtown and finally decided on this one. We didn’t have a reservation on a busy Saturday night but they still fit us within five minutes of getting there. The waiter was very helpful in suggesting dishes as well as wine pairings. We ended up ordering the spaghetti, cheese fondue and chocolate fondue. Would highly recommend the cheese fondue it is to die for!

The rib dish was exquisite. Their beef dish is also very well seasoned. I would not recommend the risotto.

Another fantastic 7th avenue contributor to add to the books. Foods great, wines great, servers are even better. It’s a reasonably sized menu with options for everyone.

Every time I drop by (usually for lunch), everything is fantastic. The menu is unique, always something I've never had before and every dish I've tried has wowed me. The service is great with a personal touch, so is the winelist and so are the recommendations.

It is a genuine treat to dine here.

Too chilly for outdoors, and the indoor seats were terribly uncomfortable for tall people like us but the cheese fondue was awesome!

I like Kahlua. I had my first shaft this stampede and was looking for the cocktail because I had forgotten the name. I was then told by everyone about the living room. Apprently this place is one biggest buyer of Kahlua in the country and you can see why. Apparently it was not uncommon to see flocks of people rush for lunch, get fuelled up and back to the races.

Their signature cocktail was even better than my memory served. We paired it with some desert and some of the freshest oysters and I was quickly in shock how I had never seen or stopped here.service was cordial and professional, no issues of taking too long or being overly aggressive which goes a long way in keeping the night going.

Fantastic ambiance that is timeless, and does not feel like it was assembled yesterday from a kit. Crowd runs older than your traditional chik place but you gain a good opportunity to have a fun chat and let the good times by.

Overall I would say if you feel like having something after a night out to decide what is next, or want a great desert, or just Calgary experience to look no further.

The place offers a large variety of fresh food. I love eating here. The employees are always welcoming, rates are fair and the place is always neat.
