I was looking to upgrade my king mattress and through a friend was given the information for this company. The staff are very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable about their mattresses. It's not easy picking out the perfect mattress, and after 3 visits I committed! I haven't received the bed (coming late January -eagerly waiting).

Two experiences - Both Terrible!

I went to the store, looking for a low loft pillow, Christo recommended some pillows and I bought a medium pillow- which was a waste of money! Later when I called the store, based on my explanation her colleague (Christine) mentioned that they have tons of other pillow options, which would have been better and suited me more, but "Christo" never mentioned them! Wasted $186 in that store!

on another occasion, I called the store, this time to buy a mattress. (Christine) told me that she is with a customer and that she will call me back tomorrow morning! She never did.
When I called again, (phone answered by Christine)
she answered the call hastily and couldn't rush it more to end the call - and in response to my questions about mattress and box spring, she mentioned that I am being Argumentative! She then rudely left the call and put some one else on the phone to talk to me!

Never saw some thing like that before!

Absolutely the best sleep on my new hard bed mattress. It is solid and beyond firm. No movement, sinking into soft holes or bouncing at all. Thank you Mattress and Sleep Company.

I went in clueless as to the best Mattress and Adjustable Base that would suit me. I met Christo who was more than helpful to show me and explain different options available and he did not put any pressure whatsoever on me to buy. It is so amazing to see exceptionally amazing customer service at a Mattress shop in Calgary at last! Oh my goodness! We are incredibly happy with our mattresses bought through Christo at The Mattress & Sleep Company! My low back pain is almost non-existent now.and I was really struggling with it. Almost immediately, I noticed a difference! I could not believe it! Our son and my husband and I both bought mattresses and we are so happy! I simply can not say enough about the service, quality and overall satisfaction that we have, and are experiencing!

I bought a SIMBA mattress and got a firm one delivered by mistake. Scott who looked after me, when I called him and told him that I had ordered a soft mattress, was so very good and looked after everything and in a week the delivery guys were here to replace the firm mattress with the soft mattress Thanks so much Scott for looking after me. Went in with my finacee in need of a King size bed. Christine helped us select a bed that fit our needs.

Additionally she helped us with a bedframe.

The delivery company they use is also great and communicated well.

Due to the weight of the latex mattress the standard metal frame was not strong enough and the bed was sagging. I sent a picture to Christine and she promptly had a stronger frame sent to us.

I have been in the market for a new bed for a while. We had actually purchsed a mattress from Ikea about 6 months ago thinking it would be "good enough". Well let me tell you, it wasn't. After doing lots of browsing online we determined that buying a mattress without actually trying it first would be a big mistake. Christo at the Mattress and Sleep Company was amazingly helpful. He introduced us to several different beds but ultimately the one he suggested (The Berkley Berlin Hybrid Mattress) was the one we purchased. I couldn't be happier with his reccomendation. Never have I owned a bed that didn't require several weeks of 'getting used to'. I wake up feeling rested and have little to no joint pain. We spent about an hour in the store and not once did we feel pressured to hurry or to buy. We even purchased an adjustable base and it's been a game changer. If you are looking for a better sleep, check these guys out. You won't be sorry!

Highly recommend shopping here for your mattress and bedroom accessories! I researched for a long time before purchasing a king size bed. I came across The Mattress & Sleep Company because I was searching for a clean, non-toxic mattress which I was not finding at the big box brand stores. The staff here is super friendly, helpful and not pushy at all! The whole experience really sold my husband and I on purchasing a Berkeley mattress, base, protector, pillows, duvet etc! Anytime I’ve contacted the store to ask a question they have been so helpful, down to earth and kind. And, wow, what a difference a high quality mattress makes and knowing that you’re sleeping on a bed that’s well made, going to last years and non-toxic is worth every penny- a great investment! They also do payment plan options which is very helpful when making a bigger purchase. Also, the delivery company they use was the best to! They delivered on time, we’re also very kind, clean and efficient!

I've only looked online, not been in store. This store has cast iron frame beds which I absolutely adore. It's possible I may purchase a new mattress with the frame once I make the decision to go to the store.

Sorry I never got round to posting a review earlier. Anyway, here it is. I wanted to say that we were really pleased with the service we received when we were looking for a new bed frame a few months ago. The staff were most helpful and courteous both face-to-face and over the ‘phone. I decided to order one of the Wesley Allen iron beds. We knew it was going to take a while but we actually got the frame a lot sooner than estimated. It was perfect. Exactly what I wanted and ordered. The delivery guys were efficient and quick to install the frame as well.

The best mattress I have ever had. ViSpring from England. Definitely worth the 2-3 month wait. The best fitted sheets I have ever had, no more fighting trying to get a fitted sheet to fit properly over your mattress. And the best help from two very knowledgeable and friendly people. Christo and Christine. We would definitely highly recommend The Mattress & Sleep Company!

Walked in today and was really happy with the service we received. Christine was great she listened to what we were looking for and gave us great suggestions. She never pressured us and was more than willing to show us the benefits of each mattress and provide us with additional information if needed. Will be back!

We had NO IDEA a mattress shopping could be so complicated. Dylan made it so simple and a little exciting. Frustrated with my last purchase from a specialized Canadian mattress company I decided to make an appointment with the Mattress and Sleep Company. I have a problem with insomnia and I find beds with synthetic foams extremely hot and uncomfortable. Christo showed me many beautiful mattresses that were made of all natural materials. He was knowledgeable and thorough. I chose the Vispring because I love the way it’s made plus the chances are that a company that has been in business for over a hundred years probably knows what their doing.
I didn’t mind waiting a few months for it to arrive from England. When it did, it was more beautiful than I remember and exquisitely made.
Urban Couriers did a great job setting the Vispring up and getting rid of my old mattress.
From start to finish, The Mattress and Sleep Company and Vispring have exceeded my expectations and I’m ‘over the moon’ delighted!

I had intended to purchase a Berkeley mattress. While I really wanted a 100% latex mattress, I knew I couldn't afford one. Once I tried out the Obasan, I got one anyway! Thanks to Christine's untiring patience with my questions, it is perfect! It was delivered about 4 weeks later and the gentlemen who set it up took great care of my floor and the new mattress. What a wonderful sleep on our new Berkeley Ergonomic talalay latex mattress! I used to wake up with a sore neck every morning unable to sleep through the night for 10 years because of severe neck pain and my husband had a lot of hip and back pain. We have had our new mattress for almost a week and have woke up pain free every morning. Zack was especially helpful in helping us find just the right bed and bedding for our needs. Researched a number of higher end memory foam mattresses at several retail stores and on line. We finally decided on The Mattress and Sleep Company. Zack, did an excellent job of showing us various options and answering all our questions. The atmosphere was relaxed with absolutely no pressure to buy. After two visits to the store we settled on an Obasan 100% organic latex mattress.
TMSC contracts their deliveries to a third party. The delivery by two young guys was 5 star. They took great care removing the old mattress and setting up the new.
Overall the purchase and delivery was a most satisfying experience and to date the new mattress has met all our expectations.

My wife and I visited every mattress store in Calgary and found the best products, best people and best service at the Mattress and Sleep Country store just a few blocks south of Chinook Centre. The people there are extremely knowledgeable about all their products, and are very pleasant always, and not the least bit pushy. We recently purchased a new mattress there, and were advised there would likely be a 30 day adjustment period from our old mattress. Not the case. We both adjusted instantly, sleeping well from the first night. We dealt mostly with
Christo, and will continue to do so, as we have now ordered a down duvet
from him and intend to follow up on other bedding choices with him.

We were very pleased with the relaxed, no pressure sales approach Dylan and staff had while we searched for a new mattress. They answered all of our questions and were very knowledgeable about their products. The delivery team was efficient and respectful of our home. The quality of our sleep has improved significantly with our new Berkeley mattress. Our only suggestion would be a courtesy follow-up call within a couple of days of delivery.

Hi Dylan,

I felt compelled to share our buying experience at your Calgary store. Let me start off by saying that trying to find the right mattress using information available on the internet and then finding a store that sells premium mattresses is exhausting.

We had bought our last 2 beds from Sleep Country. The bed that we presently own was a premium Serta I-Comfort which is ~6 years old and is past it's prime. Although it has a 10 year warranty, it is basically useless because Serta doesn't include the loss of support. Basically the mattress will eventually return to its original shape but the foam has lost the ability to support normal body weight and you sink into the bed. At that time we were looking for a bed that was comfortable, from what we thought was from a good manufacturer and at a fair price. Looking back at the purchase I can honestly say that Sleep Country is only interested in the sale and sold us the wrong bed for our sleeping needs.

I have spent weeks on the Mattress Underground researching mattresses, their construction and the material used.overwhelming at times.

We have visited a number of mattress stores prior to our visit and had felt that the sales associates either had no product knowledge, never asked us about how we sleep or issues that we may have presently and were just trying to sell us a mattress and get a quick commission. My wife and I thought that we'd drop by your store after doing and internet search for premium mattresses. This is when we were introduced to Christo. Most people send out emails to the owners to complain about their businesses but I just wanted to point out how lucky you are to have him on your staff. He took the time to ask us about why we were looking for a new mattress, what our current concerns are, how we slept, what was important to us in a purchase and took the time to show us numerous buying options. We never felt pressured to purchase a mattress, he spent hours with us during our many visits explaining the construction of each form of mattress. From our experience he was only concerned on doing what was best for both of us and to ensure if we did buy a bed from TMASC that it would exceed our needs.

I really can't say enough good things about Cristo and your store. He always made us feel welcome. Although we had to increase our original budget we feel that is money wisely spent. We look forward to the arrival of our Berkeley Copenhagen in the next month.

Five months ago we purchased a Berkeley Copenhagen Talalay Latex mattress, Berkeley Organic Mattress Protector, and a Formesse Bella Donna Jersey Fitted Sheet, and I couldn’t be happier with our choices.
When we started mattress shopping, I wanted a firm spring mattress – probably sheep endorsed, as I thought our old bed had performed pretty well, even though it was sagging and I ached in the morning. But after making multiple trips, having Christo, Christine, Zack, and Dylan explain the differences in mattress materials, and spending plenty of time researching the various latexes, memory foams, springs, and hybrid options on the market, we were better able to understand how and what mattresses are constructed of. We made our rounds to other stores and tried out various brands and mattresses with the competition. What brought us back and sealed the deal was:
The type and quality of latex used in the Berkeley Copenhagen.
I can easily roll over on it. Memory Foams – even Tempur-Pedic - were just too difficult to roll over on. The natural bounce and quick recovery in latex helps me get where I want to go.
The ability to choose a different degree of firmness on each side of the bed by choosing a different core. I chose a medium core and my husband chose firm. If I ever needed a different firmness, I could always purchase a new core. That is a much smaller risk financially than having to purchase a whole new bed.
The quality of the quilted knit fabric on the cover is superb. The zipper is very heavy duty, smooth to use, and encased (not exposed). It did not have any separation issues as we found on a competitor’s bed.
It feels fabulous to lay on. I was very surprised that even though it was soft, it felt supportive when you lay down. Sitting on the edge is not at all indicative of how it feels when reclining. The mattress core has 7 different support zones - maybe that is what does the trick.
The latex mattress works well with an adjustable bed. Despite what some stores will tell you, most spring mattresses do not work well in an adjustable bed – the springs are usually running vertically and cannot fold well with the contours of the bed.
Regarding the Berkeley Mattress Protector: Even before I decided on a mattress, I knew that this was the mattress protector for me. Yes, it is expensive. But I’ve had my share of mattress protectors and have learned that going cheap is a mistake. This was the first mattress protector I’ve found that is purposely made larger so that when you wash it, it will shrink and fit! After it is pre-washed and dried, you will find it fits over the mattress without a struggle. It is a quilted knit cotton. The knit allows it to stretch, unlike woven fabric that other mattress protectors use that doesn’t stretch. The cotton allows it to breathe. Other protectors are either a polyester or poly/cotton blend which do not breathe as well. The stitching on this protector is good as well – it has not popped. And it is deep; there is no problem covering the entire mattress top, sides, and having extra for underneath.
Regarding the Formesse Bella Donna Jersey Fitted Sheet: Woven cotton fitted sheets shrink after washing. It is a real struggle to put them on the mattress. The Formesse sheet is a knit and the stretch in it makes it easy to make the bed. There are also no creases, and it has a very smooth luxurious feel. It works wonderfully with our adjustable bed as it has “give”. I started with one, I bought another, and have yet another one on order in a non-stocked colour.
Most notably, the knowledge, advice, help, and patience of the staff was excellent. This is not a big-box store. It is not a “everything on sale” store. Thank goodness; I’m tired of hype, bovine-patty talk, and short-lived, throw-away products. You want a small business with integrity like in the “old” days? Well, this is it.

My wife and I purchased a duvet here in the summer and found the staff incredibly knowledgeable super friendly as well as the store is immaculate. When it was time that we wanted to replace our mattress we knew The Mattress and Sleep Company would be one of the places we went to try out mattresses. The staff, in particular Christine, were so helpful and informative that we bought our mattress, pillows and a set of sheets and love all of them. We tried out many mattresses in store and ended up buying the Berkeley Cairo and have had the most comfortable sleeps since. Never did I feel like the team was trying to “upsold” us on our purchase and they have a wide range of price points so can accommodate most people. Without a doubt I would recommend these guys to anyone looking to buy a bed and will be returning for all our sleep needs as we continue to grow our family.
