The Meatball Pizza & Pasta

Love the pizza. A nice meal for a decent price. The server was good and friendly. Took awhile to get food, but we were in no hurry

Inside the Ptarmigan Hotel. Small inside, but a few tables on the patio. This is also the hotel bar. We had a 15 dollar special, and my son chose a pepperoni pizza and I chose the chicken macaroni cheese. Both were very good. They didn't skimp on the portions. An American couple noticed what we were having and when we said that it was very good, we're inspired to have their own pizza. You do have the option of having take out.

IGA is two doors down, don't pay 30$ for "The Meatball" to heat it up for you.

Service was super friendly, food came out quick and was super tasty. Tried the veggie lasagna it was really good.

Ordered pizzas and a couple of starters to come together and waited over an hour for them to arrive, and when they did come, they were truly mediocre. The bruschetta was poor, with the tomatoes on top overcooked (? !) and the pizza I ordered was nothing like the menu described and tasted like a store cooked one, if not worse. Meal was $40, far better options elsewhere.

I had one dinner here and I was overall satisfied. The food tasted good and the portion altogether was nice. I found that for the price of the plate, that the meatballs lack in size or there just wasn’t enough of them. But other then that I was pretty content.

We ate here because we had neglected to make a reservation anywhere and Banff gets very busy in the evenings. Despite that the place was 2/3rds empty and there seemed to be only one server working. She was struggling to keep up but not her fault obliviously. Were pleasantly surprised with the meal.

Big shout out to our server Chris K! Top shelf service. He made this dining experience phenomenal! Super friendly, very attentive, and definitely knows how to make his customers feel special and important. Was planning on ordering just a simple traditional breakfast, but ended up enjoying the breakfast buffet instead. Great food, great atmosphere, just wish I had more time to try their specialty.pasta. I will be back and encourage you to check this place out! And to the managment team, give Chris K a ton of praise, he's the type of waiter every restaurant would love to have, you are lucky to have him.

Incredibly disappointed with the elk and boar siders, zero flavor and very dry, buns were stale. Garlic fingers were hard to the point every bite was a crunch and to top it off THERE WAS NO GAELIC!? Made complaint and got an apology.thanks I guess?

To the ladies serving us and the kitchen staff on November 18th, 2022 - Outstanding service and meal! I had the Elk and Wild Boar Meatballs and I don't think I will ever be able to eat a regular meatball again! Thank you for a great evening!

Very disappointing!
After seeing the menu, we were so stoked to see they had gnocchi with Gorgonzola, our mouths were watering.
It was mushy, bitter and probably the worst we have ever had

My wife and i just finished a meal here. Ceasar salad, calamari, and an entree of chicken parm. We waited ten minutes to be seated outdoors. I understand, they seemed busy and everyone seems to be understaffed. No worries. We ordered and the salad and appetizer came out pretty quick. Now just for a reality check, we have lived on the east coast of the U. S.for many years. If a restaurant can’t make a good calamari, well they ain’t Italian. The salad was fine, no worry. The calamari, well, was the worst we have ever had. No taste, smallest pieces we had ever seen. Big negative! Next, the chicken parm, nice recovery! The chicken tasted fresh, hot and juicy. Sauce was hot, a little tart, with a good flavor. Pasta was good as well as the vegetables. Overall, 2 out of 3, come on, learn how to make a good calamari and you will have covered all the bases.

We went here because everything else was an hour wait or longer. The pricing looked pretty good and a couple of menu items looked good as well. We had to wait a few minutes to get seated however when our food came it was very good and our server was very polite and friendly. Simple place great food great service, limited menu but they do it well. We will be going back.

I tried the spaghetti and meatballs pasta and the lamb pesto pasta. The spaghetti and meatball sauce was pretty good—flavorful and had a lot of different ingredients. The meatballs were oddly hard and chewy and lacked salt and seasoning. The lamb pesto pasta was not good. I could hardly taste the pesto and overall lacked flavor. I was hoping for a fresh, strong pesto but the sauce tasted like milk. The lamb pieces were ok—I personally didn’t really thinking went well with the pasta. Wish they cooked it differently or something. The service was also quite slow but the waiter was super nice. Kind of pricey for what it is.

If you want to eat on time or feed your kids on time, please don’t go here. Ordered 2 appetizers with our main. Appetizers came an hour late. The calamari was cold and it came on a bed of lettuce. I thought it was a Salad for one person with all the lettuce and a little calamari. The garlic fingers were ok. We asked how long for the main they said it will take another 15 to 20 minutes. We had to leave because we had catch our shuttle to go back to the hotel. So no dinner. The best part is the MGR did not approaches ones to apologize or show concern She gave us a 3 dollars off on our appetizers. The restaurant only had 4 tables including our. Trust me you will thank me.

We were highly disappointed in this restaurant. Our server was lovely, however, we waited an hour and a half for 3 pizzas to be made…especially when there were very few people in the restaurant. After receiving the bill, only $6.20 was deducted. When speaking with the manager, she was unreceptive and disengaged that we waited for so long. She offhandedly offered us a free dessert to go - obviously not understanding our point (rude). We passed and left.

Awful customer service. We made a reservation for dinner, but when we turned up the waitress told us that there were no spaces in the restaurant or the bar area. She was unhelpful and verging on rude.

The waiter was amazing, but I'm rating 1 star because I asked if their gluten free items were safe for people with celiac and was told yes, but I got extremely sick.

Nice restaurant, but if you have celiac disease be careful.

Their weekly specials are a great deal. Went on a Monday where the special was a Chicken Parmigiana, and it included a sizable portion of protein. Ample cheese and tomato sauce, so good comfort food.

If you like the flavour of gamey meat, you'll really really love their unique elk and boar flavored meat. The pasta itself had some really unique ingredients that made a delicious combo with the meatballs!

This restaurant is the most authentic Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to (and I know Italy!). From the interior decor, to the patio, to the wait staff - a real taste of the homeland! I had the meatball spaghetti, and my girlfriend had the eggplant parm, and both were spectacular. The wine list was amazing (even had a vintage from
Ontario!), and we loved our pairing. Would recommended to anyone looking for an authentic experience

I was hesitant to try because the review was not good. Surprisingly good food and great service! I will definitely come back again! ️

They post that they are open until 10 pm. We tryed to eat there as we were staying at the hotel 745 on a friday nite.they we closing

I ordered the chicken parm the first evening I arrived in Banff. Ate the entire serving and thought it was the best chicken parm I had eaten ever, but I was hungry! Then the next day I ordered the same (a lot less hungry) and enjoyed the chicken parm as much as the first day! I asked for more sauce for the spaghetti and they delivered it to my expectation for both days! Did not give it a 5 star rating because the cheese was out of a shaker rather than being fresh; but the cheese on the dish was the real stuff. The house red wine was great! (I know, chicken goes best with white wine, but I prefer red hands above white).

We were staying at the Ptarmigan so popped into the restaurant as it was easily accessible in the hotel lobby. My partner and I both shared the Dillinger pizza which was very good as well as a cocktail each. The only downside was it got a little bit noisy and sports-bar-ish at times but the pizza definitely made up for it!

I stayed at the Ptarmigan Inn and this place is in the lobby. Small but has friendly attentive service. Super convenient for my location for apres ski.

Had a late supper. Caesar salad and pizza.delicious. Service was great Joe and Lorraine were so friendly and efficient!

Firstly, waiting at the bar half of our party got their drinks. Then I was rudely told by the bartender that he is too busy to make the rest of our drinks. The manager tried to help but he didn’t know most of the drinks - was constantly looking up in the menu. We get shown to our table, but it takes forever for the waitress to take our order and we had to constantly ‘flag’ her down for additional orders. Also, access to the restaurant is not wheelchair friendly. Bad experience-won’t be going back there ever.

Undercooked pasta, small amount of tasteless sauce. Pricey for what you get. Of all the places in Banff you can eat at, I'd give this one a miss. Looking at the reviews they clearly don't take on board any feedback and don't really deserve the custom.

The waitress was very slow and the spaghetti I had wasnt pertticualy nice. Other than that the place did have a nice vibe.

Ordered the chicken parmesan and it was pretty bland. The chicken was rubbery and the meatballs were tough. If you're visiting Banff I would look elsewhere for a good meal

Food was pretty good, but service and delivery of food was terrible. We had salad and entrees and it took over 2 hours. Was supposed to get desert but left after waiting 15 minutes for it.

Great food and awesome service, which makes the food taste even better. Generally Italian cuisine but enough variety to tempt any appetite. Portions are generous for the price. Definitely did not leave hungry! Located in the hotel we stayed at which was very handy but we would recommend this place to anyone. Fun atmosphere in the bar area and quiet dining in the larger dining room

Really great meals. Small place with good service. Had 2 new drinks which were fabulous - Bahama Mama and a Tropical Monk.

I've tried pizza at other places in Banff and have never been satisfied. At this restaurant it was pizza the way I've been dreaming of for the past two weeks. Perfectly baked! Mmmmmm!

One would think that with pasta in their name they could make a spaghetti and meatball dish, but the over cooked meatballs, under cooked dry pasta with a spec of sauce was nasty all the way around. Definitely not worth the 1.5 hr wait not the price! I ordered garlic fingers. So hard and over cooked you couldn't even eat them dripping with oil. Stated it was to to come with a sweet east coast sauce. I received tomato sauce from a can! Couldn't even complain as a waiter never checked in for near an hour

Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. But I have to agree with the comments about portion size. If you brand yourself with the word meatball, one would assume your spaghetti and meatballs would be an absolute staple. The meatballs were underwhelming in size and taste, the sauce redeemed the dish. My wife had pizza which checked off all the boxes.

The price is a little high for the quantity you actually receive.

We had a nice dinner at the Meatball. The food was so delicious and the Service was really good. We can totally recommend it and would defenetly come back!

The best pizza in town. I hear you, "What about Aardvarks? " Sure, when youre drunk at 2am, obviously. But for a proper meal and a pint, go here. Trust.
