The Military Museums

Short: The museum was packed full of just about anything and everything you could ask for, with the ability to either skim through and see the impressive exhibits, or take some serious time and read all the incredible wall mural stories. I will definitely go again.

I couldnt believe how much there was to see - I only saw a fraction of things in the two and a half hours I went. I am not well-versed in military history to any degree, and I found the whole experience to be fascinating. I also enjoyed that they had a few interactive exhibits as well.

If you want to get a full experience, plan to make a day of it and really dive in.

Very interesting place, everything is very well preserved and the preservation of history is to be congratulated.

This museum is great to learn more about Canada history and spend quality time with children.

Canada has many military museums and expos. The Citadel in Halifax, Nanton Air Museum, among many others in Ottawa and other places. This one in Calgary is a special place among the best to display Canada's military history - naval, air and army. The massive amount of equipment, tanks, planes, expos and informational story telling is fantastic. You can stop by for a 1 hour speed walk through the exhibits, or you could spend 5+ hours there - depending on your ambition. The volunteers are excellent. All of them are well educated, extremely approachable and MANY have served our country and have stories to tell or colour to provide beyond what you can read and see. If you are at all interested, be sure to stop by. Children are more than welcome here. If you happen to be around on November 11th, the annual Remembrance Day service is always one to. Remember.

Attended the Remembrance Day ceremonies again this year. It is such an amazing experience to go to a place that shows such respect to Canada's military history.

Simply a treasure right in the middle of Calgary. Credit to all the curators, the museum (s) are magnificent with a tremendous collection of artifacts and a glimpse into the proud military legacy of Canada. Many stories of dedication to duty like Mike Mountain Horse. This old US Marine was really impressed

Went there for Remembrance Day Ceremonies. They hold the ceremonies outside and then the museum opens for everyone to go inside. Admission is free that day (donations are appreciated) and it provides an opportunity for everyone to explore the museum. Expect to spend a few hours there if you're reading and watching the mini video clips. Very educational and always learn something new. Didn't make it through all the exhibits but they are so well done. It was an experience and every year we go, we always take the opportunity to walk through the museum, especially to check out the new exhibit on display at that time. With a retired military veteran along with me during the tour definitely gave a very different perspective on how things were. Very lucky to have the freedoms we have today and remember to not take it for granted. Lest we forget.

Lots of history and information particularly the air force and naval exhibits. Cold War museum was great too.

This marks our 5 time attending the Remembrance Day event. Very well organized. Insightful and thoughtful speeches. Wish they would bring back the veterans food donation truck though.

Lot of things to see. You need few hours to see them all. That Navy museum is the biggest in canada.

I try to visit this museum yearly and Its always impressive. Staff are very friendly and the museum is very clean and easy to get around.

Currently undergoing renovations but it's worth a visit, especially when they host free talks and other events.

The creativity and skill put into creating the exhibits really pushes this beyond just a “look and see” museum and into the “immersive experience” category. There is equipment to try on (wow! Heavy!), videos to watch, and of course your typical museum-type things to look at. Plan to spend a large chunk of time here as there is a TON to explore

Well curated museum with history catered to Canada’s Western military units and heritage. You'll probably need several visits to take it all in. A nice gift shop too.

Went here on school field trip, liked it and recommend but there's mostly Canada, i wanted to see panzer or so from different countries

I have been here so many times and the staff are great. There was a medicine of war special area set up. A doctor who was volunteering offered us a tour which was fantastic. Really enjoyed it. Then in the hangers the guys were really nice. There were two pilots and an engineer. They were friendly told us so much and even allowed us to sit in the starfighter. What a place there is so much to see and it's a hidden gem in Calgary.

Best Military Museum I’ve ever visited. The setups and artifacts that they had inside were incredible. Many interactive exhibits and descriptions were fun to read. There was plenty to see, including multiple hangers, many army exhibits, and a very cool Air Force and Navy section. Definetly a cool pace for anyone interested in this sort of thing.

I went after hours on a Scouts trip with my nephew, so I couldn't speak to a lot of the normal experience, but the exhibits were outstanding.

Great visit. My grandson had Tobe dragged out at closing. He would have curled up and stayed.

Was able to but tickets the moment we walked in with no wait. Friendly and informative service from all staff.

It is a very interesting museum to visit. I recommend to everyone to visit this museum at any convenient time.

Excellent and large selection of artifacts. Nice displays. Good outside selection of odd equipment.

Could easily spend half a day here! Many exhibits tell the long history of all Canadian military branches. Attendants are very knowledgeable and friendly. A must see!

Went for my son's birthday. I wish I could have stayed longer but we were all hungry and wanted a good sit down lunch

Best museum I have been to. A lot of reading and great history, or skip the reading and enjoy machine guns, tanks, CF18 Jets and battleship equipment.
