I originally gave a 5* but my original barber is gone and my last visit was really bad. The barber
clearly doesn’t know how to work the nuances of hair lines and patterns. He also cut up the back of my neck with his clippers.

I've been going to this place for a year now seeing Chad. I've for the most part been happy with my cuts from him, but lately he doesn't listen to what I ask and just does whatever he wants. I've been telling him the last 3 hair cut and beard trims that my goal is to grow my beard out as long as I can in the upcoming year, I just wanted a minor trim to make it look nice for some family photos, but every time now he trims it back down to the same length it was before. I compared to some old photos I have to make sure it wasnt just in my head. He's a young guy and maybe listening to your customers comes more with experience. He does a "good job" but not what I wanted. I sadly won't be back. You pay a premium at this barbershop. I expect to get what I ask for.

Came in for a hair cut and hot shave and can't be more pleased. Top notch hair cut and shave, Great vibe, friendly staff, clean shop with great products. I will be continuing coming to The Refuge for my weekly cut.

Been seeing Jeff for around 5 years now, and he gives me the best cut I’ve ever had. Even when he injured his wrist he craft did not suffer.

Best barber shop in town! Natron is incredible, never a bad cut. All the staff are very insightful and knowledgeable.

Luigi was great, asks a lot of questions to make sure you like the cut he’s giving you. Great attention to detail and customer service. The place also has a really sick atmosphere.

Been to two of their stylists and have been happily surprised with both! Super friendly people, cool atmosphere and they’re licensed and serve Sea Change beer! I didn’t partake but I will be next time lol.extremely well priced for the service as well:)

First time here today. Went in for a beard trim and the barber (Jeff) took the time to go over the best shaving line I should follow for future beard growth. Happy with the service I received today and would recommend this place.

Jeff at The Refuge is truly awesome. There is no one else I trust to look after my beard and my kids would kill me if I tried to take them anywhere else!

I was recommended to go see “the best barber in town” at the Refuge by a couple of friends about a year ago and was not disappointed. I previously went to a barber that I really liked but I had to see what the hype was about and I never looked back! Chad has given me the cleanest line-ups, tapers, and fades since I’ve been in Edmonton. When I met chad I had dreadlocks and he was the only person I would trust to touch them and keep my line-ups clean and eventually the only person I trusted to cut them off when it was time. Short hair or long hair this guy knows what he’s doing! He’s always welcoming, super friendly, and absolutely hilarious!

I was referred to this place by a friend. My friends hair is always great so I went to them to get my first undercut ever. And well the cut is a lot higher than what we agreed on, it is very uneven on each side and the line work is horrible. No doubt the guys have talent with short hair/men fades and cuts but not with long hair/women cuts. He was very quick to show me the results and I was so far away from the mirror that I couldn’t really see it until I got home and found a disaster. At least this is what I experienced and witnessed. Very upset about how it turned out and now I have years of growing to do.

Been wanting to do something new with my hair for a while now, a friend recommended that I see Chad as I wanted to see if I could pull off an undercut. The shop was good vibes, Chad is very precise w his work, & I love my new hair. Thanks Chad for helping me flip the script!

I've been going here for years and it's been absolutely amazing. They have done an awesome job creating an unique space. Chad has seen me through 3 different hairstyles now and is always great at explaining how my hair will work with the type of cut and how to style it. All the barbers there are really friendly and easy to talk to. I couldn't see myself going anywhere else.

Jeff did a great job trimming beard. Did not rush through to get to next customer. Will go back and recommend to others.

10/10 would recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean cut. Great atmosphere, very polite staff, overall a wicked place. I've been going there for quite awhile now, and Chad has never disappointed me. From haircuts to beard trims, this place has it all.

One of the best barbershops in the country that I have ever experienced. Not only did I get a great beard trim and haircut, but I left feeling revitalized from the great experience. Take the time out of your day to visit this one of kind barber! Love the decor too!

Jay's haircuts are always impeccable. He has extremely acute attention to detail, and it shows in the final product. Atmosphere is nice and relaxed, with vintage barber chairs and other furniture. I can't recommend The Refuge highly enough.

Killer barbershop.
I have never been more satisfied with the quality of my cut or the attention to detail.
Was originally sent by my GF for a hot shave, I continued to see Jeff and over the last year and a half, and have walked out of there feeling like royalty every time. The music is usually hip hop or local jams. They sell locally made care products and have house brand as well.

After many attempts with other places to do my beard trim and not finding anyone who can not butcher it, I have found my place at the Refuge and Jeff. Thanks Jeff for the great trim

Jason is highly skilled at his craft, the antique barber chairs are fantastic, coffee is always on, and the old barnwood decor is wonderful.

Great place to go, went for a beard trim was one of the greatest service. Super friendly staff take a lot of pride in their work. Had Jeff take care of my beard was awesome and the short time I waited for my appointment it would seem the staff is very knowledgeable great place would suggested to anybody.

All the boys here are amazing barbers, great to talk to, and you absolutely get what you pay for. And in this case, you pay a decent price for an amazing haircut. After going to so many places around the city, I genuinely believe I'll never change barbers again, so long as they are here.

Arguably one of the best if not the best Barbers in Edmonton. I've been coming to see Jason at the Refuge for around 3 years and you can tell by the atmosphere in the shop that the staff are passionate about making guys look good. If you're looking to change up your style or you're looking to clean up for professional events, you owe it to yourself to come here at least once.

This is my go to for haircut! My mom used to cut my hair since I was like 6 years old. She decided to retire from cutting my hair. I was getting stressed because I haven’t really been to anyone else for a haircut. I tried some places here and there until I noticed this place had a lot of good review, so I decided to check them out. This was about three or four years ago. Wow, all the barbers really knows how to fade well! I either see Chad and Luigi, and I am never disappointed with the final result! These guys know what they are doing, and I never felt rushed compared to the other places that I’ve tried before this one. Honestly, I’ve been coming here for several years now, and I noticed and observed the all the other barbers also do awesome work! And everyone is so friendly! They all know my name now! You won’t be disappointed! I give Two thumbs way up and 5 stars for quality, service, and friendliness!

Our barber was meticulous! My husband's beard was long overdue for a serious trim. The barber took his time and sculpted my husband's beard into a piece of art. I expected it to cost so much more than it did. The Refuge just earned themselves a new long term customer:)

This place is expensive but the end results are far better then any place else. Jeff is the man and is who i would recommend. He listens to what you want and makes it even better then you could imagine. This is the only place i get my hair cut and its a 30 min drive.

Top shelf service, hair cut and a beard trim at a decent price. The people are pretty dammed cool and the vibe is laid back and relaxed.

Just received a cut from Noah and he was awesome! One of the best cuts I've received thus far. If you need a tight fade and fun conversation, he's your guy.

I will start off my review by stating these people are very friendly and the customer service is on point. However, non of this matters if you are not happy with the cut afterwards.

I was willing to give this place a second chance by going back after my first unsatisfactory haircut, but again I was given a style preferred by my barber and not my own choice. Both visits I forced to face the wall and not allowed to watch the barber cut my hair, only given the chance to see the result after the gown was take off. It was vert awkward. I have a simple comb over and will not continue to pay $50+ for something I don't even want.

This has been my go to place for years! Jeff is a great barber. I don't think I had an actual hairstyle before I went to see him. Plus, he does an awesome straight shave. I like the Prairie Boys products too. Great for the beard.

Absolutely amazing! Noah cut me up nice with a taper fade and a fashion color (silver grey). Definitely my go to for all my haircuts.

My husband and son both get their hair cut by Jeff. My husband's hair is always well cut and stylish and Jeff is always super accommodating for my son. I know they do not often cut kids hair but my son loves it! Plus the atmosphere is great and they carry a great line of products.

I went in to see Noah Hobbs awhiles back to get my haircut and I ended up leaving with in my humble opinion the best hair experience of my life, Noah was a pleasure and an honor to meet I felt uplifted in body and in mind after I left his chair. Noah if you read I want to let you know that as long as you’re cutting hair you will always have a friend and a client with me. Please don’t stop being you, this world needs more passionate people like you!

I had a excellent and utterly moving experience here. You will never have a bad day at refuge. I was turned around and all just as mentioned. To you haters. Go be offended cause this was a great place to get your hair and beard cut at. I will be back.

Aesthetic is very cool. Price was more expensive than I was expecting. So if you're mostly wanting a cheap mens cut you might like other shops in town. However, I gave Refuge a 5 star for a reason! The service is amazing. My haircut was tailored for my life style, including my morning routine and the products I use. Most importantly I learned a whole bunch from V. She talked to me about styling products and gave me a really nice demonstration on how I should use a blowdryer at home (because I'm an oblivious male). Highly recommended, will be back.
