The Salvation Army Thrift Store

Ridiculous prices, management is not professional at all. She is a lier and has no idea how to run a store. I have been purchasing things from Thrift Store for years because I like helping out. Stay away from this store location. Whoever is in charge of the pricing should be ashamed of herself, or fired.

FAIRLY CLEAN AND ORGANIZED. STAFF WERE WONDERFUL. ONLY COMPLAINT IS NOT HAVING A CHANGE ROOM. SO IF IT DOESN'T FIT, THEY OFFER A STORE CREDIT BUT TAGS MUST BE ATTACHED AND YOU HAVE 14DAYS TO RETURN WITH RECEIPT. SO IF I RETURNED SOMETHING, USED STORE CREDIT TO BUY SOMETHING ELSE THAT DOESN'T FIT, THEN I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE PROCESS AGAIN WHICH TAKES TIME AND USE OF MY GAS GOING BACK AND FORTH

Not sure why everything is being organized by color on the shelves but you can't find anything anymore. Even if you're just browsing around its like you can't see because everything in that section is the exact same color. Youre missing out on things you're actually looking for and would have bought because its a jumbled mess of red / blue / green. I find myself just walking through the isle and leaving without buying anything most if the time now.

Reading the complaints below is enough to give them a 0 Star.
Went there once, saw the indigo signs, made a uie and went to
the adjacent thrifty store. No fuss, no mess, no bother.

Way too expensive they shouldn't be jacking up prices like that when they get it for free there is nothing saying that that place is low price because it's not it's a high-priced you're basically paying a high price for used clothes and you basically can go and buy the same clothes for the same price brand new ridiculous

I HATE the new way they've set up the store. Everything is organized by colour instead of by type of product, which made it impossible to find what I was looking for. The purple shelf, for instance, had knick knacks, ladies Rogain, and kitchen stuff. What?
If they change it to a better system, I may shop here again, but man, right now it's way too stressful.

Always smiling and every courteous staff. There are always new and lovely items at very good rates, all you need to do is to search well and you will find these jewels. Also, there is a very good exchange policy on clothing items while other item categories are mostly "final sale".

Donate anywhere but here. The store "manager" Belle shouldn't be working in an environment with people knowing she is vulgar, rude and insists on acting superior to others. She treats her staff horribly too, by what I have heard. I'm going to take to Media and corporate how I was treated today by her because her attitude is repulsive and shouldn't be working for a wholesome name.

Not very organized, the isles are cramped, and if you don't punch in your license plate you will get a ticket.

Hilariously overpriced for video games and electronics, didn't bother to check anything else. 3-10 times the market rate lol.

The selection is pretty good but the prices are becoming way too high for what you're getting. I've priced some things out in the store to find them on the Walmart webpage new for less than what they want at the thrift store. Aren't these places supposed to be for people who can't afford these items at full price? Disappointing to see them take advantage of already struggling people with prices like value village.

Good cause! Bring your old stuff instead of dump it in the garbage it may be useful for someone elae

The worst secondhand store I’ve every shopped at! Prices are insane. There was an old projector that I thought was priced a bit high at $50. Then my wife pointed out that I missed a zero. It was actually $500. BestBuy is cheaper.

My daughter picked out a couple of items and asked the cashier to set them aside for a few minutes. When we came back, one of the items was back on the rack. At the cash we realized that they had changed the price from $12.99 to $29.99. I spoke to the manager, Elisabeth, and she wouldn’t do anything.

I will never shop at or donate to this store again.

This 58th Ave Calgary Salvation Army is the worst thrift store I have ever been to. Whoever is in charge of the pricing should be ashamed of themselves, or fired. Everything is insanely overpriced and greedy. Selling a Rigid Shop Vac (As Is) for $250!? They don’t even cost that much new at Home Depot! Or a Super Mario Wii game that sells on EBay for $10… they are selling for $90. $100 used coffee makers, $50 broken and junky record players, etc etc etc. In my opinion these prices go against the values of the organization and there should be measures in place to limit this gouging.

Just finished shopping at the thrift store today got a $70 ticket for shopping for 10 minutes inside the store the sign says two hours free parking
For all the stuff that I’ve donated to this store practically my mom’s whole wardrobe furniture
and all of my things and this is how they repay me I’ve been a customer of theirs from day one spent at least a couple thousand dollars in the store through the years you will never see me set foot in your store again
I Phoned the parking police and they told me they’d give me a 10% discount well guess what I am not paying take me to small claims court probably gonna cost you a lot more than
70 bucks
I’m so disappointed in the Salvation Army right now My mom was a member of the Salvation Army she rang the rang the bells for Christmas for years she delivered presents to the needy people during Christmas time so I thought I’d keep supporting on her behalf So disgusted in Salvation Army right now

Love donating here and in return recieve 20 percent coupon and they are a inexpensive and nice things. Shop here not value village where they think they are a fine clothing store based on thoer high end prices.

Used to be my favorite thrift store but theyre pricing gets crazy like value village just add few dollars and u can buy for new stuffs.

If you know what you are looking for this place has the right price. Quick and no over crowding.

This location is not too bad. You usually have to go early in the morning change rooms are closed out so you have to find one of the three mirrors that they have available throughout the store and try to envision what it would look like if you were to wear. Sometimes they have hygiene products and their audio video section sucks most of the time. Good for Kitty stuff I didn't see a lot of dog stuff. But that's fine prices are okay overall staff is good and friendly.

I love this thrift store, always find something here! But please, tell your security guard that it's unprofessional to hit on women while they're shopping. I had a man ask me several times if I was single and he insistently asked me for my phone number. Made me really uncomfortable as I shopped.

This is a great little thift store, they have great clothes and they also seem to always a great selection of higher end designer products I there display cabinets

** QUICK EDIT: The Salvation Army helped me get my ticket cancelled with Indigo parking, which I really appreciated. I've revised my review by a star. However, the inhumanity of the check in station for parking and the inconvenience of having to wade through a broken system with the possibility of easily getting another parking ticket still means I won't be coming back very often. **

I like this thrift store, and have donated many times. Unfortunately their parking lot is now managed by Indigo. Got a $70 ticket for NOT PARKING IN A DESIGNATED STALL. Unfortunately, due to snow, it was difficult to tell what was a stall and what was not, but when I pointed this out to the parking attendant, he told me to call the Indigo office and appeal. They have declined to answer my calls thus far.

Additionally, the check in kiosk was stalled for a good 5-10 minutes and we just had to wait until it started working again, which was annoying waste of time.

I've uploaded a photo of the parking situation. I parked in what seemed to be a stall to the right (as the stall to the left was full.) So if you are going to Salvation Army, avoid this spot at all cost. Salvation Army, you may want to consider placing a sign or something so that more of your customers don't get hefty tickets.

This store sells items above resale value, which defeats the purpose of a thrift store. You may as well but buy everything new. Also, you must register your plate to park here in another attempt to make money.

Worst experience at a thrift store in a long time. They want you to sign in and give your information to get free parking.

Over priced and staff pick through everything first.

If you want to pay outrageous prices for garbage / not working items this is the place for you.

This is a very good store for used clothes. I encourage people to donate to the Salvation Army stores. They help so many people in need. They are nonprofit. Not like other use stores that claim they are.

Great store with wide selection of clothing and other treasures at great prices. Some items are brand new with original tags. There is a spot to test electronics to ensure they're working before taking them home.

It's easy to register your car for free parking- just indoors beside the huge bottle of sanitizer.

Just a regular thrift store.prices are aittle high. I was looking at a small 8 x 12 picture in the cabinets I really liked, the price on that thing was $500. Thats right five hundred. I thought maybe it was a typo, and as I thought it was a nice picture, I'd ask if it was supposed to be $50. $50 is more than I would usually pay for a thrift store picture, but like I said, I really liked it. The manager came and explained to me that they are a charity and want to get as much as they can. $500 was the correct price.someone donated that picture.too bad it's not an accessible price point for regular people.like.only someone with a bank account with $500 of thrift store picture money can afford that. I don't have that.hope some wealthy person will get these.you know.for charity

This place seems to be taking a cue from value village and is raising its prices. Most of the items in their cabinets are retail prices.

Don't like the fact it's finally sale! Bought a vacuum and it didn't work right. Now I'm stuck with it

I wish they’d allow a longer time for exchanges. However one of the best Thrift Stores in Calgary. Has a large selection.

Always find good stuff and decent prices. The staff are fantastic always friendly and helpful, after our house fire they gave us each a change of clothes and some pajamas to get us through.

Although they are a thrift store, the prices on most of their clothing items do not reflect that. All of the other thrift stores in the same area are about 30% cheaper on their clothing, from what I've seen today. If I'm going into a thrift store, I'm most obviously not in a great position to be spending a lot of money. I'm looking for deals. I need to stretch my dollars.
Along with the high prices, they ask, at the till, to if you'd like to donate money to them. To be honest I felt like I was a "mark", being shaken down for every nickle they could squeeze out of me. What's going on Salvation Army? Do you need marketing help, along with some"customer-service" training? Let me know, I'll help you out.

I was not pleased with the selection in this thrift store. To my surprise especially since Salvation Army is well known worldwide. I will be going back because I know the items on display are based what is donated.

God forbid you walk in with another bag from another store that you have receipts for!
I not only was embarrassed but mad at the staff suggesting that my bf had been stealing and asked for his bag he was carrying that we had just bought items from Dollarama in. He and I will NOT be going to this store ever again! I never have nor ever will steal anything, the thought of them thinking we did was NOT cool and the staff did not apologize for the embarrassment it caused towards us. I DO not recommend this store and if you do go inside, DONT carry a bag with you!

I found the prices to be fair, the store was clean and the cashier was awesome. I would have given five stars, but I wasn't too thrilled at the fact that my small appliance purchase was non-refundable even if it didn't work when I got it home. Thankfully it does work and I'm happy with my purchase, but I still would have liked to know that if it wasn't working I could return it or at least get store credit.

Nice store where you can find anything used for a reasonable price. It is considerably big and there is good variety of items.

Dont get taken by the fake bags at this location. Selling for a ridiculous $150 and up. ALL FAKE. They need to get someone who knows the difference between real leather (straps and hardware) and cheap plastic. How embarrassing.

Felt exactly like value village. Items very over priced I could find brand new items cheaper. The auction items were ridiculously over priced as well staff needs to research current prices especially outlet prices as you can find new items around the same price. Winter items cheaper at Wal-Mart and Superstore. Didn't purchase one thing as I was turned off by the high prices I'd much rather shop and support WINS as they have much more decent prices and more knowledge on brands. I'll never come here again. The place beside them way nicer, very decent prices and more knowledge on brands. I was extremely disappointed

This is probably the best thrift store I have gone to so far. A great variety of clothing, I was able to find clothes to my liking in the first few minutes of being in the store. I loved the jeans especially, I did not expect to find such nice jeans. Definitely what I was looking for.

I love this store, better than value village or goodwill. Great selection, friendliest staff, ample parking. If you donate they can give you a coupon for buy $25+ get $10 off, which is a great incentive to both donate & shop here.

The store is well organized, clean and there's lots of stuff. On most items the quality is still good, the selection is taken care of. The clothing area is huge, especially for women

Selection is rotated often and well stocked. Prices are high for a place like this, and I've noticed increasing prices over the last few years compared to other thrift stores nearby. Hangers and some items have a residue that makes my hands black if handling.

I am a regular here and troll the jewelry cases once or twice a month. I almost always find a treasure or two at a fantastic price.

I love thrift stores but this one is just like all the rest but it was not as busy as value village. You have to be careful of what you buy as well, some things can bought brand new for cheaper yes cheaper.some things are over priced for sure but I think you can get some good bargains. There is not as much of a selection as Value Village but it is not bad and the same goes true for all thrift stores, you have to go often to find good thing because new stock is arriving everyday. I give it a 4 because things were organized and I got a couple good bargains.

Fabulous store with quality items! Honestly, they must go through thousands of items daily, and they nail which to keep. Plus, the staff is amazing!
