Extremely disrespectful and unpleasant management, does not handle Situations or questions well. Gives a very bad overall impression immediately once walking in, off putting to the point I do not believe it’s worth going back. Do not expect to pay less than you would at a new retail store

Lovely cashier! Rude and terrible customer service by the manager!
We wanted to buy a lego train. The box was dropping Styrofoam everywhere, so we asked if we could open. The rude manager says NO! The manager assured use her professional staff in the back opened it and it should be good. We didnt buy because of the terrible customer service. My son did decide to go back and get it. The cashier was embarrassed. When the box got opened at home it was full of mouse poop and pee. Of course no returns! Shame on the manager! I will never return to that store! I will never donate to that store again!
Extremely high prices and terrible manager!

Staff is so rude and miserable. No change room and get in trouble for trying on a coat. I'm not from here and coming back to bring it back is not easy and it's for exchange only. Sorry but if I go home and it doesn't fit because I couldn't try it on I want my money back. This isn't the first bad experience I've had at this thrift store. Won't be coming back.

Good selection of all kinds of things. Friendly staff, good prices. If you are on a budget it’s a great place to check out.

The store should post a sign on the front door that says, “Buyer Beware. ”
I tried to take back a defective blu-ray movie but was told by the manager that exchanges were only allowed on clothing, footwear, bedding and linens. She added, “it says that on the receipt. ” Actually the receipt doesn’t say anything that those are the ONLY items allowed. So I guess they feel that covers notifying customers of their return policy, AFTER they’ve purchased something.
It’s pretty sad when Value Village has a better return policy for defective items than the Salvation Army.
There’s other charities in town that I can support.

Staff is super nice but definitely not thrifty. Please don't put out broken items. Cut myself today.

The management is TERRIBLE.they don't represent what a church should be. She is terribly rude and bitter. NEVER GO HERE UNLESS U WANT BE RIDICULED.

Thrift stores are the best. Lots of new items with the tags still on. Donate and get your 20%off coupon everytime you donate. No big business here.

Buyer beware of this organizations return/exchange policy. All products sold are donations however this business would not exchange for a store credit an amplifier my son purchased. I wish I could operate a business were you receive free product to sell and not offer credit for product that must not of been properly tested. Not sure how this is ethical? Should be criminal to sell items that don’t work, not tested and steal from their customer. They should repent for breaking the 8th commandment. Our family and friends won’t be supporting this fraudulent business anymore.

Great place to find unique items to repurpose. Staff are very friendly and helpful when looking for items.
16 November 2022 9:12
I donate to this store all the time. I find the odd item to buy but not that often. I think they do a good job there when I consider all the junk some people drop off just to get rid of it. A lot of work goes into sorting and organizing.

There is one lady in particular constantly RUDE and this time utter disrespect. A couple had a voucher to pay for clothing, the staff member was loud and said “We don’t pay for it. ” It is that loudness that caught my attention. The couple tried to explain the adult and kids number. As they left kids stuff at the counter because that was sorted. They went back to revamp other things. The same staff member. Very sarcastically said to me “You got something to say” she asked me more then once. I told her quietly she did not have to be so loud she then asked me “Who was around to hear? ” I said I was. I said compassion goes a long way. Walk a mile in their shoes. ” She said she has. I then said Remember where you’ve been. She said “You don’t know what it’s like to work with the public all day. ” I just moved up to the cashier (Karen who is/was very sweet) while this other staff member keeps going taking a two second break between snide remark’s. She said why don’t you pay for it then? ” I said I would.
I asked cashier (Karen) if they had gift cards she said they did, after double checking with the Extremely Rude cashier next too her, that Cashier said “No we don’t not anymore. ” With such hostility. I thanked Karen and approached the couple in the Mens/boys department. I told them I did not mean to intrude, I over heard the cashier being less then kind I would like to pay for something’s for them so they could get what they needed. With tears in this Mom’s eyes. Here comes Hostility Cashier asking me to leave and telling this couple she would give them back their voucher. I left as she asked took my things to my truck. Brought my buggy back and Karen thanked me. I asked for a business card and again here comes miss Hostility. None were available. Miss hostility tells me to call at 08: 00 am and her manager’s name is Katy. I said that is okay I would call the head office and then she says “Just so you know that couple is writing a statement, just so you know. Earlier she had asked my “Why don’t I pay for it” so now I am true to my word and I am in a Salvation Army thrift store where people are supposed to be kind, compassionate and helpful, felt like I was in the twilight zone. Thing is the lady was not wearing a name tag. Last time I was here pretty sure she said she was the manager.
Because she had to be Right I wasn’t able to help that couple to aid their voucher.
This could have been resolved so easily with a little thinking outside the box. Miss Hostility could have taken credit, I didn’t care and this couple could have gotten all they needed.

Where to start. I love thrifting but not here. I don't think they have the infrastructure to take donations, in the past couple years they have refused my donations because; they were out of season (not according to VV or HFH), the person who priced the children's items was away, and worse, I moved my vehicle to the nearby parking lot and they threw my bags directly into the dumpster (I could have brought them to VV or HFH or somewhere else!) Also if items are missing price tags they won't price them for 24 hours, but the last time I went I had two items tagged as a pair and the cashier rang them through individually. I said "the price tags says pair" and the cashier as SMUG as can be RIPPED off the price tags and said "well they were priced wrong". If she can decide what the prices are at the till why do we have to wait 24 hours for items to be retagged. Most employees there are great but I just can't go back anymore, not even to check if she isn't there. My donations and money will go to a more respectful company, even if it's for profit.

Went here for the first time and the lady working at the cashier was rude! Bought stuff for my parents and went to the till to pay, I politely ask the lady if i can have the senior discount due to their poster that was posted “senior discount everyday” but unfortunately the lady laughed at me saying you are not a senior, but my parents are beside me, i’m just the one who’ll gonna pay for their stuffs, (paid $102.89) i can pay this amount without any discount its just said there senior discount everyday.the way she did in front of my parents and my 2 kids is unacceptable, you should not tolerate this kind of attitude in your company, I didn’t see her name tag but she is an old lady with a short hair. This will be our first and last visit. (September 24,2022 around 3: 30pm)

One employee with a accent (store manager. I think) was super help full, and she seemed to care alot about the community. The salvation army was a large help to myself while living in ontario so there is no better place to support then those that support our community. I will be back and will make sure to spread the word on how helpful the store and organization in a whole are. Thank you for everything you guys do.

I'm an avid thrifter so have been shopping at this location for years. The service is poor, no one offers to help, the ladies who work the front are all very judgmental and harrass customers who they just don't like for no reason, especially to those who seem lower income which is a bad look for a charity shop. I haven't been for about 6 months because of the workers and when I went in now, still no service at all, dirty looks from the people working and now the prices are absolutely outrageous. They had open singles of dove soap for $2 and half used beauty products that shouldn't even be resold, and charging $3-$6 a bottle, not even sure if that is legal honestly, it's extemely unsanitary. Then $15 minimum for a dress that's used and worn, it's cheaper to buy anything new than to shop here. And if you try to bring up the pricing with anyone working their, you're met with a snarky remark and made to feel like a thie or a con artists even if you're not taking the item in question.

I will definitely not be coming back until they work on the way their staff/volunteers treat costumers and do better with their pricing.

Always clean and well organized. No change rooms available so guesstimate your size. Competitive with Value Village pricing just across the parking lot.
24 November 2021 12:46
The staff here are so rude and condescending I hope they get younger people to work here. Anyone older has yelled at me and been more than rude. Get better staff.
19 October 2021 1:18
Staff have been rude and unhelpful every time I have gone. They seem bothered to answer my questions and too busy chatting with each other to assist customers. I won't even bother coming anymore. There are other places with better staff and selection.

Very messy and junky looking. Plus, not their fault but their debit machine was down, so it was cash only.

Although we have never been greeted with a hello or even a smile from this particular cashier; my husband and myself have visited this store a few times as we enjoy the selection of unique items they carry. However on our latest visit we were treated with absolute disrespect. My husband took an item that was not priced to the cashier. She said very rudely that she was unable to sell him the item because it had no price. To which my husband replied " why would you have donated items on the floor if you aren't able to sell them" she then suggested that maybe he had removed the price tag. He then asked her why she had to be so grumpy and she answered back "because of mouth pieces like you". More words were exchanged between the two as she followed him out of the store shouting that he is no longer welcome at the store. This woman (and i use the term loosely) in my opinion should not be working with public and or representing The Salvation Army.

I always love donating and shopping here! I believe prices are reasonable and money tends to go to a good cause!

DVDs are are a little expensive, and there records are for sure over priced, everything else in the store is decently priced. I've encountered happy and grumpy staff there before. Kind of a hit or miss to encouter pleasant staff. But overall it's a decent thrift store. Value village and re new thrift store are better though.

I have got so many good items as in jeans and t - shirts not brand name but ones that are well priced and fit well and look good on.not a place for brands and such but good deals is more like it.

Friendly, clean, and helpful in the community. It is always fun to see what treasures can be found.or donate to someone else who might need a treasure.
11 November 2019 1:12
Pricing is becoming insane.
Especially for a place meant for people who are struggling. Get a grip. A spoon is a spoon; you shouldn’t price things insanely high just because it is older or based on “popularity” of the tv show.

Good selection. Found great biker water proof jacket. Nice second hand clothes. A bit pricey but cheaper than new. Buisy store. Lots of people. Great Halloween stuff. Huge selection!
15 September 2019 6:51
The usual kind of Sally Ann. Lots to choose from. If only the generously donated items were washed before donation, I'm not saying no y washed the items and clothing but those who don't wash, could be why they all smell! Except one I visited in Innisfal Ab. Doesn't smell much at all.
Not to mention those who volunteer, Thank you so much. We wouldn't have a place we can afford if it weren't for donations and volunteers.
10 September 2019 15:18
If you are flexible there is a good assortment of clothing, bedding and some house wares. Watch prices, can be expensive. Watch for sales.
13 August 2019 11:01
The rude cashier snatched my friends money out of his hand while I was taking my debit card out to pay. She also left my items in a heap on the counter after scanning them in because I did not purchase a bag. She should have folded the clothing as every other second hand store does. As a visitor to Red Deer, I will never purpose to go to this Salvation Army store again. I will give my business to the other fantastic thrift shops in town. (Value village, Second chance,
Renew Thrift, Mission Thrift, Bargain Treasures)

Used to be our favourite Thrift Store in town but the prices on certain items are now crazy high (ie: $59.99 for a medium sized bag of marked up wooden train tracks & 2 bridges- they weren’t even Thomas). But then again, you can find great deals on other items. Guess it just depends on who’s pricing items.
10 June 2019 18:57
Love the store but not the Asst.manager. She's rude, she'll change the price on you at the till and won't even replace a product that was sold broken. I used to shop here a lot but she has completely ruined this location for me. Otherwise, i always love Salvation Army stores.
29 May 2019 20:53
You got kids? Do they grow out of their clothes 3 months after you buy them? This is the store for you
27 February 2019 7:43
Items are fairly priced and there's a surprising selection of choice items! You can literally find a treasure every time you go there.
25 January 2019 18:17
Women's clothes need help, aisles are long and impossible crowded. Like maybe a bagsale would help? Or split the long aisles, hard to shop there.
