The Sensory Restaurant & Lounge

Was very excited to try the trust menu. Service was excellent. But both courses had potatoes as the vegetable. My wife’s shrimp had almost no gouchuchang sauce, (mine was fine). The short rib was tender, blueberry glaze was good but was dry inside. I think it was maybe chuck roast cubed up. The pork belly my brother in law was amazing and my sister in law really enjoyed the shrimp in white sauce.

Enjoyed the chef's tasting menu tonight for our anniversary. All 3 courses were delicious, and not what we usually order off a menu. Fantastic night out!

We held our wedding at The Sensory Restaurant and were super happy with everything. The Location is easy to get to and provides amazing views, the atmosphere in the restaurant allows for a very intimate setting, and the food was fantastic. The staff provided excellent service, the owner Terry worked with us to ensure our special day was exactly how we envisioned. From Start to finish our experience with this venue was outstanding and we are very grateful to have had such a great event.

Not very good food and very slow service. We did the chef’s tasting menu and honestly it was a disappointment. The courses are interesting in a not very tasty way. The lamb tasted fishy and not well seasoned. The duck was tough to chew and also not well seasoned. We complained about the duck and appreciated that they took it off the bill.

The three course meal took 2 hours with most of the time waiting for the next dish to come. We were not particularly in a rush but felt like it’d be a waste of time to wait for dessert to come.

My husband and I went to The Sensory on a recommendation of a friend, our evening was wonderful, the drinks were reasonably priced and delicious. Our meals were excellent (pork chop and lamb), both meals were cooked to perfection, the wine list had a great selection and availability. We shared the “chocolate” for dessert which was excellent as well. We have a tree nut allergy and were informed that there are no nuts at all in their kitchen. We will definitely be back and would try the “trust us” 3 course menu.

Great service by Trevor. Nice unique pairings on everything we ordered. The Steelhead trout and beef tartar were highlights.

We had our 60 person wedding at The Sensory in August 2023. From the very beginning, Terry was incredibly nice and easy to work with. We could tell he had lots of experience running weddings and we were able to trust him with lots of small details (e.g, place settings, table set up, etc.) and the team executed them wonderfully. We chose The Sensory as our wedding venue because we love food and wanted a fine-dining experience for our guests, and because the restaurant's atmosphere is chic, modern, and accentuates the beauty of Canmore and the mountains. It did not disappoint - the food was outstanding and it looked so beautiful. Chef Tyler helped us create our own menu, listening to our preferences, and being creative with the options. There was ample space for dancing, and the bar on the patio was the prettiest place to get a drink. Thank you to the whole team at The Sensory for making our wedding day the best it could be!

The view is fantastic (upstairs especially) and Brad is such a wonderful and patient waiter. Oh and of course the food is amazing. Get the surprise menu if it’s offered, you won’t regret it.

The view and atmosphere were amazing! That's where the best part ended. The waiter REALLY needs to learn to smile and I'm sorry. NOT SORRY but chicken liver PARFAIT is just WRONG! KUDOS to the Chef for the attempt at originality BUT.did you actually taste it? The pork, quails egg and apricot terrine was dry and over spiced. I'm left wondering if perhaps their REAL Chef was on holiday

We had a really good time here. They paid attention to every requirements without hesitation.

Excellent restaurant! Beautiful view of the three sisters mountain range in Canmore. Had an afternoon lunch. “Best Cesar Salad Ever” my wife commented! Roasted garlic and curled egg yolks. Super crispy home made croutons started us out. Okanagan BC vintage wine was an excellent compliment. Then my crispy fish and chips with gourmet tartare sauce. Crème brûlée for dessert. Soo good.
I looked at the Dinner menu and OMG looks amazing. They also have a 3 course Chef’s JOURNEY SET UP WITH WINE PAIRINGS! Can’t wait for my next excursion to Sensory

Giving a five stars because I'll go back.
Ordered the beef, it arrived covered in sauce.
I'm not a big sauce fan, but the meat was good.
Somewhat a bit too rich for my taste.

Wife got pork and It was really nice.
I should have gotten that.
Either way, excellent service, beautiful views, ambiance and I'm sure next time when I order a pasta
or a different dish I'll like the place even more.

Renting the balcony would be sensational.

I highly recommend the Sensory! We had the set menu for Valentine's Day and every item was delicious (especially the tomahawk steak - exceptional!). Our server was outstanding and we had a lovely time. I hope to return next time we are back in the Rockies. Thank you!

Came here for Christmas Eve dinner. It was our first time there, such a good restaurant! Food was delicious, staff were amazing!

Everything was simply AMAZING! Service was so professional, yet very friendly and personable. The food was absolutely mind blowing. 10 out of 10, if you have the chance you MUST dine here!

The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Our server was a bit dry, the price for 4 prawns to add to the risotto was pricey at $14 extra and had to ask for it after the risotto arrived as the server or the kitchen must have forgot. Super disappointed in the desert. Alot of money for what we got. Overall though, a very pleasant evening.

Can not recommend this place enough. I have loved every visit, every drink and every plate of food.and the service is something so rare to find today - REALLY GOOD. My wife and I have had many wonderful meals and we even hosted our pandemic wedding in the private room. It was unforgettable and The Sensory will always be my first choice for dining in the Bow Valley. Thank you Terry and crew!

A great spot. Their menu is small, but the flavours are not! There is also the ‘omokase’ option, $75 for 3 courses. Highly recommend if you are looking for something fun and different while in the Canmore area.

Best dining experience in Canmore. We got the chef's three course tasting menu and it was well worth it. Dining room ambiance and service was also top notch. Cocktails were also excellent.

3 courses trust me menu is the surprise for us. Presentation and taste of the courses are great. Only the pork belly is a little greasy for the main course without wine pairing. But overall it was really nice fine dining restaurant. Service is the best.

Very small menu, yet robust creative and flavourful options.
We took the charcuterie plate which was phenomenal as a started with various meats, cheeses and jams.
We then took the Butcher Cut as a main course that blew us away - perfectly medium-rare cooked and with the right seasoning.
We then finished with the Violet Hue, which was one of the most original desserts we had - very light and enjoyable.
Highly recommend!

Few restaurants are this amazing. The service, food and experience overall was 10/10! Best view of Canmore mountain line. Pro tip. Order the chef surprise.

The food was just excellent. Our table of 4 each had a different main course. I had the lamb pasta which was extremely good. The lamb was seared perfectly. Salad was well prepared and dressed appropriately. My son had the Wagu burger. Arrive hungry if you want that challenge. He said it was excellent. Service was stellar! Next Canmore trip in the summer will involve dinner here.

We were welcomed by a young gentleman who gladly Directed us to the elevator and greeted us when we arrived in the second floor. Delightful young lady waited on our table…. Very helpful and obviously loves her job. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal etc at the restaurant …. Thank you to the kitchen staff as well.

Great food with a view of the mountains. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share - what a great decision!

It was fine dining… with a Mountain View.
The kid menu was lacking… and we made our modifications. The potatoes three different ways was very tasty but not worth 16$ for the price. Something was missing in the Caesar Salad… anchovy, garlic? Something. Nonetheless the entrees were good and wonderful. The chuck burger and fries was tasty nothing special… the lamb however was delicious with the mushroom noodles. One of the best lamb dishes I have had in a long time.
The desert menu seemed lacking so we skipped that as we were ticked that coffee or tea was not offfered and no refills on our 4$ drinks we ever offered.
The view is amazing, the service was lacking for those of us not taking pictures of our food with the scenery.

Our family of 13 had the most delicious dinner here last night for birthday celebrations. Terry was most helpful in coordinating the menu for our request to do family style and to accommodate the many dietary restrictions our group had. We had the spicy shrimp, Caesar salad, gluten free bread, Altaic char, steaks, chicken, burger, and a custom made gluten free lemon cake. All the dishes were so flavorful. The steak and chicken were very juicy and tender as well. The gluten free bread was the best we’ve ever had. The cake with lemon curd was soooo good also. The cocktail drinks and wine were all very good as well. We especially enjoyed watching how the smoky whisky came out in a glass dome. This is definitely the place to go for any celebration, or just to enjoy a gourmet meal. Oh, did I mention the beautiful view?

We ordered the secret meal, tastes okay, service is okay, but very slow! We can’t finish in 2hours, and we take out the dessert.

The food was subpar for the price. I ordered the tortellini and it was very undercooked, which is unfortunate for a $35 dish. Some of the noodles were borderline raw. The scenery and drinks were nice, and the service was very good, but I cannot recommend the food.

We visit Canmore a lot and have driven past this unassuming restaurant countless times but had no idea what awaited inside. The dining experience was beyond fabulous. And the views are stunning. The Sensory takes great care in not only taste but also presentation. It's clear they are about an all around experience.

I had the Lamb. It was noted in the menu as: "Local Sungold farms lamb sirloin, Canmore Pasta gemelli, sauteed mushrooms, sundried tomato pesto & cream sauce, goat feta, truffle oil". I loves the gemelli! And the Lamb was served perfectly.

My partner had the char which was printed as "Seared char, truffle pomme puree, compressed watermelon, basil, & cucumber salsa, crispy fish skin, finished with Alberta cold pressed canola oil". She made some adjustments due to dietary restrictions.

Overall, a spectacular experience. Who knew that this gem was hiding inside of this unassuming spot.

Second time at this restaurant. The first was many months ago when I would rate it is very good. However seems to be some elevation of overall menu, food, taste and presentation with a new chef. Great to see a vegan main recently added.

Food could’ve been a bit higher temperature when it arrived at our table. Service generally good and quite attentive, but a little bit spotty. It felt like perhaps there were not enough servers for the number of diners. We had a very enjoyable meal nonetheless.

The one suggestion I would have for the restaurant is to add some softer surfaces to warm up the feeling in the space and reduce the impact of sound in this large space with high ceilings and hard floors.

Such a great restaurant. The food is incredible and the service is amazing. If I lived in Canmore I would go there way more often. Can't wait to go back again soon!

Great food. Decent value. Would give it a 4.5 if I could. Got the lamb and shrimp pasta. Pasta sauce was really nice with the white wine maple cream in it. Too much bread in the starter and the cheese cake crust was a bit soggy. Lamb was extra tasty with the garlic mashed potatoes. Would come again.

Went for dinner after a long day and was not disappointed.

We ordered the bread and butter with pate (extra) and the goat cheese with crackers to start. As for mains we shared the the pasta and prawns and the lamb shank with roasted veggies/beetroot puree.

The pasta which was a ravioli, was so delicious, the filling was a butternut squash puree and the prawns were massive. It was tossed in a maple cream sauce with white wine. Absolutely divine!

And the lamb shank was super tender and literally falling off the bone, the mashed potatoes and beetroot puree were paired amazingly.

For dessert we ordered the cheesecake with candied peaches and cream. Nice dessert to end the night.

They also offered a 3 course tasting menu which was a nice touch but we stuck to the original menu.

Would highly recommend!

Not one person in our party of 10 received a meal accurate to what the menu described. The steak was about half the size advertised, and they replaced ingredients such as cheese without asking or letting us know before we received it. The "flat bread" was a thick focaccia, with red sauce rather than pesto.among many other inconsistencies. On top of all the food being underwhelming and not what we ordered it was extremely over priced. Save your money for one of the other 'fine dining' restaurant's in Canmore.

Beautiful new restaurant with incredible views of the Rockies. The cocktails are original and delicious and the tomahawk steak was the best I have ever had. I highly recommend coming here whether for a special occasion or just to enjoy some high quality food.

My son and I had dinner at the Sensory this evening. This was the second time we have been there. The staff were very kind and friendly with such a graceful elegance. We sat on the balcony with a majestic view of the mountains. The sun trickling down in the horizon. The food was spectacular! I had the quarter chicken cooked perfectly; the side vegetables, such amazing flavor. A huge thank you to the staff there at the Sensory. I will be back very soon

Great service. The menu seemed to be well thought out, however the food did not reflect the menus description at all- many ingredients were replaced or omitted completely.

Amazing experience! Highly recommend taking the hike 7 course meal if you have the time for a full evening experience. Loved the wine flight they paired with it!

Came here for dinner—was immediately taken with the beautiful ambiance of the restaurant and especially the views! Every item that came out of the kitchen was phenomenal.truly one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The wait staff and managers were friendly and accommodating; Keith was an excellent server, and we enjoyed talking with the manager as well. The food was delicious, creative, and the serving sizes were just right—definitely don’t miss this gem in Canmore!

Everything I've had at The Sensory has been incredible, but the "Trust Me" course is a must-try. When you choose to go the "Trust Me" route, you get fresh and adventurous dishes that you'll never see anywhere else. We had courses that included the ingredients of venison, nettle, caviar, and even a spruce-needle rub! Chef Tracy Little is as creative as she is talented. I absolutely love how she forages the region for unique ingredients and incorporates them into the meal. PS — I highly recommend chatting with Felix the sommelier if you get a chance. He'll hook you up with some of the most amazing and unexpected wines!

We had a disappointing experience at The Sensory, especially when the price point is considered. The pacing was slow (fully one hour from being seated to getting our entrees), my wife’s halibut was overly salted, and my 1/4 roasted chicken was served in a bowl on top of (not beside) the whipped potatoes making it difficult to cut (it was tasty, it must be said). The decor was very nice, and our server was friendly.

Wonderful atmosphere and scenery, and the food and service were outstanding! My mom, sisters, and I look forward to our girls' trip every year, and we love to find great new restaurants together. This one tops our list! Everything from the cocktails to the wine flights and food was creative and delicious. Our servers were attentive and gave great recommendations, and we enjoyed visiting with the manager. It is apparent that the staff at this restaurant cares about every detail. We will certainly return!

The Sensory is hands-down the best food in Canmore. The service is wonderful and the food is outstanding. The menu is more on the fine dining side (appetizers in the $12-$20 range and the mains are in the $30-$45). This may sound pricey to some, however, the taste and quality are worth the price. All my dishes included locally foraged ingredients. The vegetable accompaniments were what is available now. Everything from the service, to the amazing views, to the excellent food is worth the price paid. From an amazing cocktail, to appetizer, then main and dessert, I was thrilled with The Sensory. This is hands down the best dining experience I have had in Canmore.

Please read the full review.overall, for the money this was poor. The restaurant seemed well staffed. We commented on that among our party when we arrived.

The staff were all extremely attentive. However organisation was shambolic. Sat where I was I saw several meals and salvers of drinks arrive with staff unsure where they should be delivered, and on more than one occasion, they were returned to the kitchen. We were, on several occasions, approached by two or more staff chasing up or apologising for the same issue.

The food was exceptionally good however and the best we have had in the area. This chef is of Michelin star quality in my view.

We ordered the chef’s ‘surprise me’ three course with wine accompaniment. The time taken for food to arrive was unacceptable. 75 mins before starter arrived. The ‘accompanying wine’ for main course was well consumed before the course arrived. There was no dessert wine which I would expect when paying high prices for a paired wine experience.

We were advised that the restaurant was unusually busy. For a quality establishment you need to manage the number of covers within that you can cope with. We booked only 60 mins before arriving- not least because other restaurants in the area were full. Management should not, in my view, have taken our booking. The place would have already been overwhelmed.

Note to the chef - beware that your reputation is tied to the overall performance of this place. Note to the owner - it is your call but this was for me an experience on the wrong side of the journey to success or failure

Went with my family and all had the chefs "Trust Me" menu. We had wine pairings with our meals. Amazing is selling it short. The food included locally foraged and sourced ingredients, and the wines to go with each dish were astounding, and perfectly matched each flavor profile beautifully. Service by the sommelier was impeccable. Couldn't askin for a better experience. Highly recommend.

Amazing new restaurant! This is a must stop if you want great food, fun atmosphere with a gorgeous view! The waitstaff and managers were lovely and attentive and this is our new favorite place.

My husband and I had dinner here and it was exceptional! The servers are attentive and very friendly. My husband tried the old fashioned and he said it was one of the best cocktails he’s had. His wagyu beef was melt in your mouth and the sides were very delicious. My halibut was cooked well. It was a bit on the salty side but still delicious. A neat feature is the chef tries to acquire local ingredients from the area to use in the dishes. Very cool!

The best chicken burger I've ever had! I love that the food is locally and ethically sourced and so much imagination goes into each dish, it really makes a difference. Beautiful views too.

After stopping in for a drink one evening and being blown away by the service and quality of the drink, I decided to come back for my birthday dinner. My friend and I split the vegetable charcuterie board which i would highly recommend, and then enjoyed the 'Trust me menu' with the wine pairing. The theme was 'Indigenous people' so everything was local and found in Alberta. This entire experience was AMAZING. The wine went perfectly with each course. The appetizer and main entree easily may have been the best two courses of my life. Not to mention we had wonderful ambiance getting the outside balcony to ourselves and the server bringing us truffles for my birthday. I highly recommend The Sensory and will definitely be coming back if i am ever in the area.

The food was amazing, views from the upstairs seating area are spectacular and the atmosphere was very modern and trendy. Definitely will be back and would recommend it to anyone next time you are in the Canmore area.

Amazing food! The burger was the best that I have had in ages. The empanadas were tender and full of flavor.

My wife and I decided to attend for an Anniversary Dinner. Perfect decision. The meal was outstanding as was the atmosphere only to be surpassed by the service. We had Felix as our Server and he made the evening that much more special and enjoyable. We will attend again without hesitation.

I wish I could rate this higher than 5 stars! The staff, management, kitchen, bartender, you name it, it was perfect. Had the special menu from the uncorked festival, nothing short of fantastic. Went downstairs after dinner, and had two of the best "Old-fashioned" I've ever had. I cannot get back to Canmore fast enough to go here again.
