The Silk Road Spice Merchant

I now live in Vancouver, but I still routinely order online from the Silk Road since I've yet to come across a local alternative that's as good as they are.

New location for this Calgary classic, the silk road has an amazing selection of high quality spices and spice blends. They have some bitters as well for cocktails

The Silk Road is a great location to shop for just about any spice you can think of, somewhat. I stopped in for some Greek Oregano and was surprised to find out they didn't have any in stock and she suggested Mediterranean Oregano instead, the lady wasn't quite sure if it was what i was after and didn't seem to be very knowledgeable of the product, which was a first for me at this store. I'm not sure if this was a new employee but i found what i was looking for elsewhere. The prices have gone up quite a bit lately but if you're looking for spices this is the place to start.

Amazing selection, not cheap but they'll have everything you need and a bunch of things you didn't realize you needed.

In a word - WOW! How much fun is this place? I'll definitely be back to buy some Xmas gifts for the foodies in my life as well as to stock my spice rack. So many choices and blends I'd never seen before. Very cool place.

Went here to check it out as I have never been and was in the neighborhood. I have to say, I was impressed. The place was fairly busy, but the employees were super helpful to anyone that had questions, and even gave a sticker to a little kid who looked awestruck by everything around him. The selection was amazing, and I am definitely coming back here for some spices!

I ordered online. Shipment was fast and very well packaged. Spices are fresh and fragrant. Seem to be good quality. Way better than grocery store spices and herbs. Will shop again. Highly recommended.

Lovely selection of spices. If you already have the jars, you can buy spices by weight into bags, then refill your jars at home.

It's clearly not inexpensive, so it's might be only be for a special occasion or a treat. At least, it's worth every penny! The quality is outstanding!

I’ve never been to their stores on person but I’ve ordered spices from them now for ~4 years. Hands down they have the best, freshest, most consistent quality spices. The flavours are intense and up my cooking game to a whole new level. They clearly care about their products and customers. The free samples they include in each shipment are great too though most less me to purchase the full size:)

Thank you for being so efficient and thoughtful. My online order (no more Amazon for me) came today and everything is perfect. They even included a wee gift, made the package smell nice by including a cinnamon stick, and a hand-written “thank you”. This is how you run a great business!

I could spend a large portion of the afternoon enjoying all the different spices and ingredients held with the walls of the Silk Road. Ever since receiving the popcorn seasoning kit as a birthday present, my consumption of the delicious snack has increased ten fold. Soooo good.
