Was too excited to eat before actually taking pictures!

All tables were full as of 715pm but it wasnt long till we were seated by one of the two servers.

They were very busy but didn't neglect any tables of warm and prompt service.

The rolls tasted as good as they looked, and these were the biggest sashimi pieces ive ever had in the whole city!

We were offered 4 pieces of a torched butterfish? Nigiri. Would highly reccomend!

This place is completely overlooked. Great food, reasonable prices, good service and large portions.
We should go more often! Went again tonight. The tuna was the best I have ever had, and all the nigiri were terrific. My husband's kimchi jigae was so good. They brought us two complementary pieces of butterfish nigiri - which I'd never had before, but will again. Wow!

We were excited to check out the new Soban after the owner's switched this summer. The reno looks great. We got the new Crispy Creamy Salmon Sushi and it was AMAZING. The beef bulgogi Bento was delicious and we got more food than we were expecting. But the Yakisoba wasn't great. Lots of their rolls are dynamite rolls with different toppings, So not a lot of variety. But a great little spot in the neighborhood.

The best sushi place in edmonton with quality sushi and amazing prices! The sushi always is fresh and I like how there is not too much rice but a lot of fish or other toppings. It was really busy as we went on a Sunday evening but they were accommodating for a large group!

I had the vegetarian tempera roll, the late night roll, the pressed sushi and the udon which all were very fresh and delicious. Their food has always been consistently good and I would recommend to everyone who wants to eat good and affordable sushi!

Sophie and Tokie (so sorry if i spelt your names wrong) were super sweet and accomodating! The sushi here was great and the wasabi was so strong (exactly how we like it)! Brought my family here and we'll definitely be back for more

A hidden gem in Edmonton!
I ordered the sashimi and they were delish.
My fav was the butter fish!
And the chef served a complementary sushi.
The price is also reasonable for the quality.
My only regret was they ran out of the Ashishi black beer…

This is our new favourite place to go for Japanese food. Everything we have tried has been delicious-especially the tuna sashimi. And easy and free parking is a real bonus!

The food was very good, and was very reasonably priced, especially for how good it was. Wait staff seemed to have some trouble keeping up, though, but we got a complimentary dish for our wait. In general, would recommend.

It is difficult to access, however. Can only get to the restaurant westbound on Whyte, or northbound on 75 street via an alley.

I have been looking for a sushi place in Edmonton that can consistently provide great, fresh tasting food. This is the one!

The place is seriously underrated. Im usually conflicted when it come to fusion restaurants but I gotta say, this place reqlly knocked one out of the park, as both for both its Japanese and Korean dishes!

The sashimi was super fresh, tasty and came in large slice. Fried chicken was juicy and well seasoned. Tempura was fried to perfection. Everything is extremely reasonably priced and the portion sizes more than makes up for it. We thought we'd have ordered just enough food but ended up having to bring some leftovers home.

Huge complements to the chef for giving us complimentary nigiri. Was very delicious and would look to order on my next visit!

My wife and I came here for the first time after winning an Instagram giveaway. Not only was the food great, their staff was very friendly, and we even got a complimentary dish!

Food was great. Lunch Bento was incredible. So much food for 17$! Getting to the restaurant is a little challenging but very worth it.

Fantastic food and service at Soban. Never disappoints
Portions are good, everything tastes fresh and delicious.

I went there for the first time recently and ordered takeout. I realized when I got home that my order was wrong but I live 40 minutes away so I couldn't do anything about it. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great, everyone was very nice and welcoming. I will definitely be going back to try it again.

Being one of our favourite sushi restaurants in Edmonton, Soban never fails to deliver a 10/10 experience with delicious food! Definitely one of the highest quality places and would recommend!

Came here for my birthday everything was very good, really like it is both Japanese and Korean so that my kids who don’t eat raw enjoyed some cooked meals. The salmon belly was so good, they gave me extra on the house as well.

Tried this place for the first time for lunch. Thoroughly impressed. My fav dishes are the chop chop sliders (very unique), salmon belly aburi, butter fish aburi, tuna sashimi, and toro sashimi (tuna belly). The above mentioned were melt in your mouth. No stringy texture. Good sear flavour from the aburi. Got a complimentary salmon belly tataki too, which was also very good. Would definitely come back!

Best Asian fusion in Edmonton. Must try and you will not be disappointed. Definitely recommended!

This is an awesome sushi restaurant in Edmonton. The quality of the ingredients is superb, and the presentation really awesome. This is a minimalist decor restaurant where the emphasis is on the quality of the food. We love this place and keep heading back for a sushi treat.

Decided to try this place out. Wasn’t anything special.

The chicken karaage was small portioned and nothing really stood out. Flavour was average but under seasoned. There also wasn’t any breading on it and it was literally just cut up fried chicken thigh. The miso soup was fine, but served in a tea cup. For $2.50, I’d expect an actual small bowl. The few pieces of Nigiri Sushi we got were very small and disappointing for the price.

On to the rolls, we tried the black dragon and green dragon rolls. While the rolls were fairly large portioned, A LOT of the filling was imitation crab meat, even though the menu stated nothing of the sort (I intentionally avoided the rolls with imitation crab meat). Most of the rolls on the menu had the crab meat/California roll base, so it wasn’t really varied in terms of choices. Very average tasting otherwise and nothing spectacular stood out. You’d get better quality and bang for your buck elsewhere. I wouldn’t go back, as California rolls (if that is what you consider sushi) can be had at the grocery store for less.

The service was fine. We came in closer to closing time and they accommodated us, despite our ordering being in the last call window.

Atmosphere was okay but the building could use some renovation. Our table was oddly placed, and the seat back to my chair was pushed all the way to the wall, so it was difficult to get seated properly.

I had a wonderful time here, the sushi was delicious, and the staff was great and even gave us some miso soup and salmon to try on the house! Definitely coming again.

We like the sushi here but ordering pick up lately has been a bad experience. Long waits and it seems pick ups are low priority. We were told an hour wait and we showed up and waited another 40 minutes on top. 1: 40 minute wait for a dinner for two? And no offer of anything to make up for it. That’s absurd.
