Inconsiderate company. They don't care if they wake up a whole neighbourhood every Saturday morning at 7: 20am with their heavy equipment. They've been warned politely, but they don't care. Apparently their job is more important than noise bylaws. (this is in Fort Saskatchewan where the noise bylaw is different than Edmonton)
Very unprofessional company, will call you with a job offer. Give you a day to call back and after calling back and leaving multiple voicemails for the person that called me letting them know I’m good to go. Not even a call back to let you know the position has been filled or anything.
But I don’t expect much from a company who hires supervisors back from NACG that got canned for inappropriate relations with female operators (on site at that) not too mention a foreman that’s never ran equipment telling equipment operators what to do when they themselves can’t.
I wish them success and hopefully better practices in the future. But if you’re looking for an operator or foreman position. Apply elsewhere for your own sanity.
I worked with Thompson back in 2006 - 2010 (went on mat leave). Then decided to come back in 2019. They did not change! They are still the amazing company I worked for back then. They take pride in everything they do. They are amazing to their employees. They are very generous to many charities and kids sports. Love working for this company!
Thompson was a great place to work in maintenance I had great Supervisors and the crew was great majority of the time. I only gave 3 stars because when I put my two weeks notice in they told me to not bother coming in leaving my luggage in civeo camp with no way for me to retrieve it. I emailed and was told that I either had to have a friend pickup or a courier sent to Mclelland lake to retrieve my belongings. The fact they wouldn't even let me finish off my two weeks with them and abandoning all my work gear without the decency to even make an effort to get it back to me speaks volumes for someone they considered an asset to their company.
I have worked for Thompson Construction for 2 years and I have to say they are a great company to work for. I have met and worked with so many great people from the Spruce Grove office up to the Fort McMurray sites. There are so many opportunities for a person to come in and grow within the company whether it is in the field, the shop or the office.
Most creepy company in this great industry! I don't know why Suncor is dealing with them. Poor, unprofessional management who makes decisions based on the buddy system (depends on how they like you, not on the base of your skills, professionalism, and attendance). Always broken equipment, dirty, dusty, full of garbage and debris cabs - this is Thompson. I've seen drunk Thompson management in the morning, HR lying about wages. Terrible workplace, no safety, absolutely no work ethic!
