We were the first to arrive at the restaurant and saw other customers being served and after 30 minutes we placed our order, it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. My salad which cost $15, had 5 slices of cucumber, 5 pieces of tomato, 5 pieces of cheese and I ordered additional chicken for $12 and it came with 3 strips of chicken. Worst restaurant I've ever been to.
We did not feel welcomed by the staff. It took aprox 30 min for us to be able to make an order and the food took 60 minutes to be delivered. Some of the dishes were for sure overpriced (cucumber salad, fundue) and the restaurant didn’t have wifi. But therapist for me was the staff. The customer service was for us the worse. It took my husband more than 10 min to be able to order another drink and he had to stand up to be noticed. After that we saw the staff making fun of the situation. Not nice.
The food and service were excellent. Our waiter was very helpful with recommendations. The bison lasagna was fantastic. The portion sizes were large. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, so we will have to come back!
We’ve wanted to come here for ages, and the food did not disappoint. It was a first for cheese fondue, and we loved it. The mains were delicious, albeit pricey. The service, when present was excellent, but sparse and a slow. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would come back to try something else!
I have been going to this restaurant for the past 20 years, my parents, and grandparents went before I was born. Ticino holds such a special place in my heart.the food is absolutely delicious beyond compare. If you want a salad to start get a mixed salad with the Swiss dressing. The Swiss dressing is similar to what they call "French" dressing in Switzerland if you have ever had it, it is a creamy fresh salad dressing, and Ticino has nailed it. In my opinion the Gnocchi alla Ticinese is the best main dish, I get it almost every time I go and it has never ever failed me. I have tried many of the other dishes and can confidently say I have loved every single dinner I have had there.another great main recommendation would be the Osso bucco d'cervo or the Capriolo con pera e castagne which is what I had last time I went, it was truly mouth watering. Finally for dessert, Im an ice cream girl so I tend to go for that at the end. Ticino has a wonderful vanilla ice cream and an outstanding Caramelita. My parents usually get a Tiramisu or a Torta di noce e miele, both of these are also very good, the Torta di noce e miele is a Swiss specialty that is very filling but definitely worth the try if you have some room left. I truly believe that Ticino is a gem of a restaurant and I will take it to my grave that it is my favourite restaurant I have ever been to not only in Canada but in the world. I know people don't always trust glowing reviews and I know I might seem to have a bias because I grew up going here but I really only truly began to understand how amazing the food was once I became much older.go to Ticino and I promise you wont regret it.
I’ve been here 4-5 times now. Good traditional Ticinese food. Ambience is comforting and calm, one of the very few places that you can talk and listen people seated on your table.
Awesome meal. I would recommend the fondue and Veal dish. Our server was extremely attentive and gave us excellent recommendations. This is an underrated spot in Banff! Give it a try!
They might advertise themselves as a family restaurant, but they are a dishonest business.
Firstly, the advertised menus near the entrance are out of date, and the prices on there are much cheaper than the prices in reality.
Secondly, they automatically add a 16% service charge on the bill, and lie and claim that its standard, even though it is not stated on their menu (they only state it for larger groups).
Thirdly, when it comes time for the payment, they give you the machine without even giving you the receipt, and then ask for tips on top of that, without even telling you that they have already added the aforementioned service charge in the machine total.
First of all their waitress Nuri is an absolute gem. Attentive without being intrusive, friendly, we really like her. Second, they seated us early when we asked, last but not least, the food was absolute perfection. I am happy to pay for a great meal that is made well and this was that and more. Would recommend 1000%.
This restaurant is absolutely not worthy of 4 stars! Come on there are many other really good restaurants in Banff! The food was flavourless. The pasta was dry and tasteless. The fondue was ok but the sides of potatoes was just boiled potatoes! We asked if we could have a window seat and they politely mentioned that the restaurant was super busy (we had reservations). However there were 2 empty window tables from when we started till we left! Funny how they didn’t even try. We left 18% tip but now that I think of it they did not deserve it. Will not recommend. There are lots of good options just nearby.
