Two thumbs up to Timber Haus Developments and their fabulous team for taking my nebulous concept for a house and turning it into a beautiful, high quality structure that fits well into the mature neighbourhood and is not just a house but a home. I wanted an upgrade, but to do anything with the 80-year-old 1 ½ story, asbestos-laden house other than tear it down and rebuild made no sense. Rebuilding/staying in the mature neighbourhood where the trees and I have deep roots allowed me to pay homage to the structure and history of the neighbourhood, building a character home that fits right in with the look and feel of the remaining 100-year-old neighbouring homes. Staying in the neighbourhood and rebuilding contributes to and aligns with the revitalization efforts of the community and made this decision the right choice. Selecting Timber Haus to bring this concept to life was also unequivocally, the right choice. Some of their operational tenets relate to being part of the communities in which they build, treating the clients, neighbours, structure and history with respect, using high quality materials for homes that fit in, nurturing relationships and being committed to making Edmonton a better place with infill development done right.
Don and John have done a great job in building a team that takes pride in their work, is professional, friendly, respectful, trustworthy, enthusiastic, organized and easy to work with. In short, they’re all a great bunch of people. Don and John, with the help of the amazing Timber Haus team, have also extended that team-building effort to include the trades they enlist (also a great bunch of people) and have built a process that is well-organized and systematic. The trades are lined up effectively, minimizing downtime between phases, and there is cross-communication ensuring that the pieces fit together. Once the regulatory hurdles have cleared (Timber Haus handles the permits, easements, abatement, etc.), the structure goes up quickly and is constructed well. The result of the careful attention that Timber Haus pays to team and process is that the client receives an enhanced experience with better opportunities for updates, input, adjustments, feedback and a quick response time for addressing questions or potential issues.
The team’s enthusiasm is infectious and remains present, even with new challenges. As Timber Haus is a custom builder, they do not shy away from taking on unique challenges. The downside of “unique” is that as with everything that is new and unfamiliar, you need a little patience and allow them some leeway to incorporate your requests. We had some sticking points along the way, and sometimes things that looked okay on paper did not translate well in the physical structure, but their awesome site superintendent had high standards and expectations and addressed some of these prior to them becoming an issue or made me aware of these as they became apparent so we could adjust.
When I saw my house go up, I drew comparisons that went beyond the comparisons I made during my “research phase” with builder-hunting. This is partly to validate that I made the right decision and partly to determine whether I had second thoughts about my choices and that I should have made a different decision. After seeing what has been going up locally over the last couple of years, my view is that Timber Haus quality is ahead of much of what you see out there. While there are other quality builds out there, from my perspective, none have surpassed what Timber Haus has constructed, but quite a few have fallen short.
Timber Haus is about the whole package, the people, the impacts, the build and I would not hesitate to recommend Timber Haus for a build project.

We had an infill in Edmonton South, the Queen Alexandra area, with an older house in the front and a newly built garage suite in the back of the lot.
The front house was in such in a delerict stage that it was not worth the money and effort to renovate.

After checking a few builders specialized in infill construction, we approached Don and John from Timber Haus for advice.
We finally chose Timber Haus to help us constructing a new house in the infill lot that we own.
We made a great choice in picking Don and his team and up until now we can say we never regret it.

The building permits took a while but that is normal for Edmonton.
In the meantime, Don looked after our old house to make sure there was no illegal trespass since the house was vacant. He was very prompt to my request to send his team to come to check the house once there was sign of a break in or when there was a water line break in the winter.

And then the time came when we finally got the permits to build. Timber Haus demolished the old house and after a year or so, a brand new marvellous house was erected.

Timber Haus has an in house show room for all the materials you can pick for flooring, kitchen, … John was very helpful.

Don and his team are very professional, prompt in the building process. Personally, Don is quite approachable; he texts you back in a few minutes when you have any inquiries.

Don and his crew came back later to build a beautiful and tall fence giving us lot of privacy.

After the house was completed, there were a few minor deficiencies which were all solved satisfactorily by Bryn, the superintendent.
Bryn is also nice and efficient in his work.

All in all, we had a very good experience with Timber Haus, Don, John, Bryn and all the team. They take pride in their work.
We have no hesitation in recommending Timber Haus to anyone who’s contemplating building a residence, a Home.

My wife Olivia and I would like to take this opportunity to send all our thanks to Don, John, Bryn and all the crew in assisting us in constructing a beautiful home. Thank you.

What an amazing company to work with!
Timberhaus Developments just completed a garage suite for my wife and I in the old Strathcona area and it was done amazingly well. Don and John were incredible to work with, trades were lined up efficiently and all their work was well, very well done. Changes we wanted were addressed immediately and work that did not meet Timberhaus’ high standards was addressed before we even knew it needed to be addressed.
The company was very transparent checking on the site on a regular basis and keeping us abreast of what was going on and what was happening next.
Everyone that has seen the suite loves the high quality work that was done by Timberhaus.
I would recommend Timberhaus to take on your next build.

We are currently in the process of building a custom infill home with Timberhaus. Our project is at the halfway point.
The process and experience so far with this company have surpassed our expectations. They have been organized, professional, very easy to work with, and generally a great bunch of people. The trades have been lined up amazingly leaving no downtime in between phases of the house. It is going up so fast. We can see the care put into every detail and have no doubt this will be a home of the highest quality. They go out of their way to make sure you are getting an outstanding experience.
We are excited for the final phases of our build and so so happy we chose Timberhaus!
