We arrived around 4pm on weekday and was able to find parking easily. Parking is free. Beautiful view of the glacier. From here you can walk to the glacier toe, slightly uphill, about 15min. There's public washroom at the parking.

Had a great time hiking. Due to high wind, we couldn't get down for 3 hours, so we had plenty of time to explore, dine-in, nap, and chat with staff. That was my 1st July experience of 2023

It's a short easy trail ~1.5 km out and back, with a bit of steep climb but it's a great one to get close to the glacier without taking the ice tour. You get to see the glacier from up close and the different markings show how the glacier is receding every year.

Not the most beautiful thing on the icefield parkway but you have to do it for your culture! When you walk there, you can realize how fast the glacier shrinks. Complete this experience with the small museum in the visitor center, it was so interesting.

This is a must stop when you are on the Icefield parkway.
The car park is right next to the ice glacier and has toilets there also.
It is only a short 15min hike up to the toe of the glacier and worth the trip.
The view is amazing.
The path up is gravel and uneven so wear walking shoes or boots you may also need a light jacket as there is a cool breeze as you get close to the glacier.
The parking is free and if the one close to the glacier is full there is another one near the highway which will be another 15 min walk away.

This is my first encounter with a glacier that you can quite easily get on your own foot, but you need to be quite focused and prepared for such an adventure, but it is worth it

A lot of people, officially you can only walk a small loop. But if you cross the barrier at your own risk, you can get to the glacier, and you can walk up a long way with crampons. There are hardly any crevasses, but you always have to be careful, and if you don't have glacier experience, it's better to book a guide. This is expensive but safe for beginners.

Great to get to the glacier and see the water flowing from the source. The glacier is big, so keep that in mind if you keep walking up.

The most wonderful experience to walk on the glacier. If you have less time and don't know where to stop make sure to stop over and experience this 250,000 years old marvel! Love it
