*NO BED BUGS* Clean room fair size.a tub you can actually soak in. The bed was super comfortable. The heat worked. (it was a chilly night) For the price, I have no complaint. I booked it online minutes before checking it. Went smooth. I would for sure seek Tonquin out next time I am in Jasper.
Quite a bad experience at Tonquin Inn, for $350 a night you expect something that suits the price tag.
We got smelly carpet, urine on the toilet seat and on the underside of the bowl, and hair in the shower and floor from previous guest. Do they even prepare/clean the rooms? Air Conditioning didn’t work, and pillows were super uncomfortable.
The only good thing about this place was the TV
Location of the Tonquin Inn was good but dreaded coming back to rest after a big day of exploring Jasper.
Go somewhere else, they need a major update of all rooms. Parking was a shambles too.
Under-rated! Motel-style rooms that aren’t luxurious not completely run down. Picture a very decent motel with a good pool, sauna, small gym, hot tub and the rooms were clean. Everything was really fine! Soundproofing may be an issue with noisy neighbors but I didn’t have problems during my stay.
Really enjoyed our stay here, would recommend a visit. The indoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna were nice for the family. Also had outdoor hottubs but we didn't use them.
A great stop when passing through Jasper although quite pricey compared to other hotels in other cities. The rooms have been recently updated, the bed was comfy to sleep on. The outdoor hot tubs were an added bonus and were very clean. The front desk staff were friendly and polite when checking in and checking out. About a 15 minute walk to most restaurants and shops in town so we felt it was a great location. Overall I would stay here again.
Terrible experience! Stuff from the previous guests was in the room clothes and garbage, and for that price, I should not have to do my own dishes on vacation!
All of the hotels in Jasper are fifty years outdated as they are in a federal national park and nothing changes without federal permits etc.so you are paying high fees for your grandparents, or older, accommodations. The Tonquin is no different.
Parking is at a premium here and o suspect they have one spot for every three rooms air appears.
The Tonquin has an indoor pool in the shape of an L and an indoor hot tub that may or may not be open ever. I hen we booked they confirmed it would be open but alas it was not. BUT there are two outdoor hot tubs but they they are outside or different building across the parking lot in a different part of the hotel. There is a dry sauna in both women’s and men’s change rooms
The hotel rooms are pretty big and offer another interesting look back in time with original lights, moulding and bathroom fixtures and cabinetry. There is a small fridge and portable air conditioner supplied so that was good. I had a little chuckle when my eyesight (6’2” tall) was over the shower head and that the curtain was longer and was all over the tub. The bed was terrible and the old school sofa bed (bar across the back) was horrible too. No one slept well at all.
I noticed there was an outlet for two usb’s and two power cords and tried it but nothing worked so I decided to call the front desk. To my surprise I noticed the phone had a blank sheet over the area where other hotels display where to call for issues luckily “0” means the same everywhere. The sound on the phones are scratchy at best and it takes 5-7 phone calls on average to get ahold of the front desk fyi. When you do forward on a concern to the front desk they all at “we’ll call maintenance” so don’t expect anything to get done. Luckily you are only a short half kilometre to the city centre for meals, shopping or contemplating other adventures or hotels.
My girlfriend booked a room for 2 nights and was told the price over the phone and confirmed the price TWICE. Upon arriving we were told that the reservation had been broken up into 2. Dennis the manager was extremely rude and not helpful at all. Not only that the pillows in the room smelled of smoke. When talked to the manager he asked us if we smoke in a very condescending tone. Very unhappy with the lack of service and would not recommend this location to anyone.
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms were pretty good, they had great air conditioning, there was pretty good space, they were pretty clean.
I didn't like that We checked in at 4: 15 p.m. (and keep in mind 4: 00 p.m. Is their standard check-in time which is already pretty late) And they weren't sure if the room was ready.
Also, it's not a good idea to take up parking with a big ugly truck that you'd use for taking out all the old furniture. It's also not a good idea to stack old furniture in the parking lot. And finally, having to call to request a microwave is absolutely ridiculous.
Despite the cons, I would still recommend this place. It's as good as most other hotels in Jasper. The staff are also very nice to us.
