Totally Refreshed Steam, Spa and Salon

Totally Refreshed Spa is my go-to for pedicures. I enjoy the atmosphere and have always had a great service…. Until yesterday
I had an appt at 245 and when I booked I did not choose an aesthetician, I allowed the system to choose for me. Sadly, this time this was a mistake. I know that the spa will be able to see who was providing my pedi, I will not call her out here.

She was polite, kind of. Didn’t offer to take my coat. Didn’t give me any tips about how to use the remotes for the chair. Coughed and blew her nose through the entire service, (blamed it on allergies/asthma) no sign of any hand sani either, glad she was working on my feet. Messed around with her glasses the majority of the time, and seemed to not be familiar with the cart of supplies she had. Did not give me the sense that she knew what she was doing. Foreboding perhaps? So it seems.

When she asked how short I like my nails I said that they could use a small trim. They are SO short! Short enough that when she was filing it was uncomfortable. I had to ask her to file a few nails so they weren’t shaped to a point, and she never once asked me if I was ok with the shape or length. They are all quite uneven.
Then she got out this electric dremel thing (have never had that used on my feet before). I questioned her and she said that they are required to provide their own supplies and that she had 15+ years of experience with it. Ok, not the answer I was expecting….
My feet are very sensitive, I can barely tolerate the paddle thing used for any calluses and I certainly did not enjoy the dremel! I could hardly sit still, pretty sure the other customers thought I was being ridiculous. I thought perhaps she would put it away and use the paddle, nope. Same thing on both feet!
She was not gentle with the clipper for cuticles, again I jumped a few times, which barely registered with her.

Polish application is quite frankly terrible. I would have been able to do a better job at home, and what I would expect from a student not someone that told me about her 15 years of experience. There is polish on the skin around my toes and at the tips of my toes because guess what? They’re TOO SHORT!
The massage was just meh.
She offered me the paraffin wax treatment, which I generally do, but not this time. Honestly, I couldn’t wait to get out of there.
This is such a departure for Totally Refreshed Spa. I sincerely hope it is a one off experience.
In the future I will be wiser, no random selection of aesthetician assigned again.

Got the aromatherapy steam bath. You can control steam level, have cold showers, and listen to music if you desire. The staff were nice and informative. Felt like I got my money's worth, and then some.

This place has really gone down hill in the last couple months. Really dirty nasty towels for laying your face on a massage.
I steam regularly and since the merge of the spas, the steam rooms have been entirely disgusting. You guys charge way too much for how nasty this place is! The steam rooms STINK! Not too mention you don't ever get towels anymore eith your packages.

I've had many different services at Totally Refreshed. They Always live up to their name! The spa is peaceful, clean, and the staff are very friendly.

Beautiful haircuts for my daughters and myself! Great massage therapy and mani pedis. It's my go to place for all thise services

The customer service was great, but the quality of work was not satisfactory. Not worth the money at all. Barely did any work other than clipping the nails and cuticles along with a 5-10 min foot bath. The scrub treatment was painful and there was not any real moisturizing 5min after the appointment my feet are very dry. Not worth 80$.

Great staff and a great overall environment. It's my go-to for massages. Rose has been exceptional the 2 times I've seen her recently!

The staff are amazing! The steam baths are magical. I slept like a baby after my steam. Need some self care… book a steam or massage.

The staff are very kind and the atmosphere is awesome! My esthetician Melissa does an excellent job doing my pedicure!

Friendly staff and the place is decent and very clean. Well it was till I got there at least.wife took me for my birthday.

Really nice atmosphere here! What I expect when I think spa. I had a massage with Tia - who was lovely- and gave a good, strong massage. Then had a steam. Would recommend, and will return.

I've been looking for a good place for massages in Red Deer for a while. Andrea was amazing! She did a fantastic job and I'm already feeling a difference and preparing to rebook. Definitely recommend coming here and already telling others. Great company, friendly staff all around.

I booked a steam for 2: 30. I have mobility challenges so that I was 10 minutes late. I was happy to pay for the full hour I had booked because I was late. But by 2: 40 they had given my booking to someone else! Anyways they promised that I could have a steam room if I was willing to wait for steam room 3 to be ready — they would have the person out, clean it and I could have it. Best case scenario I might get a steam room in 20 minutes after it had been hastily cleaned. Would it be properly cleaned in a rush? Would it actually be 20 minutes? They said it “should be”. I thought the room I booked “should be” waiting for me. But I was further discouraged to hear the attendant say she didn’t even know there was a steam room 3. I decided not to wait for an unknown amount of time for a dirty steam room.

But they collected my money anyways, knowing they didn’t have a room for me!

So they’ve got my money and I’m back home having made a challenging trip to TR for nothing.

It might be that TR is great for nails and eyebrows but my need was for a steam as part of my physio routine. In other words TR negatively impacted my health by not providing the service I thought I had booked. And they seemed to think it kind of funny.

The booking clerk cheerily offered that my next appointment would be no charge — like 1 minute after she had taken payment for a service I never received. Good math if you’re the merchant I guess.

Does anyone know of another place to get a steam?

I went for a pedicure yesterday and was not very happy with the service, especially for $84.00. I was told I couldn't get any art on my toes because no one is trained to do so, they should mention this when booking. The scrub hurt my legs because she was applying way to much pressure and the woman who was doing my pedicure gave me a massage with her gloves on. If this was policy I would understand but the lady beside me had a woman giving her a massage with no gloves. That's supposed to be the best part and I couldn't feel a thing. I don't do these things very often so it was a little disappointing for sure.

First time visiting the spa (south branch) the staff were super friendly and considerate of my request in keeping me in a private area while cutting my hair, i am a muslim and wear hijab they made every effort into making me feel welcome and comfortable they put barriers and closed the doors making sure it was only females! Thank you Ariyanna for an amazing hair trim she’s an expert at what she does and i cant wait to be back! I also got a PCA face peel with Amy; she was knowledgeable and professional i was truly relaxed and enjoyed my spa time thanks to her.

Rose was a great therapist. She worked on my back which seized up badly yesterday, and now feels so much better.

Went to get brow waxes and tint with my daughter today. The Esthetician I was with did not properly wax my brows, or tint them. She also did not trim them. She put a very small amount of wax on and I remember thinking that other places they put quite a bit on and I'd feel the hairs being waxed out, but I didn't this time, but figured I'd wait until she was done to see. The tint she left on for maybe 5 mins. My brows are blonde so usually they leave it on for a minimum of 10 minutes. The room was dark so I couldn't see properly to check when she was done. When I got to my car I still had wax around my brows, no hair had been properly waxed off and my brows were still blonde! My daughter whom I took with me was with another lady who forgot to fully wax around her brows so the job was half done. Super disappointing especially for the price we paid with tip. I ended up doing them myself.

Totally Refreshed Steam, Spa & Salon is always a great place to enjoy a relaxing steam. The staff are always friendly and the steam rooms are always clean and ready to go.

The nicer, newer of the two locations in Red Deer. Clean and relaxing steam facilities, great massage and Mani/Pedi's. Staff is professional, great service.

I had THE best massage of my life at the South location with McKayla (sp?) - the Tranquility Face & Body Ritual, which includes a facial and hot stone massage. WOW. Previous to this I had written off massage therapy after a series of subpar experiences with different therapists but my husband surprised me with a gift certificate for Totally Refreshed so I thought I'd give it one last try and I'm so glad I did.

My steam was ok. However we booked 2 steams and only one was booked which left our friends sitting in the car while my husband and I had our steam.

Very relaxing, welcoming, I had just got out of the hospital and got treated here. They were so acomidating loved the services and friendly.
