Trio Restaurant & Cafe

The staff was friendly and the service was up to the mark. We tried Trio mezza platter for appetizer, comprised of Hummus, BBQ chicken wings, and Baba Ghanouj. Baba Ghanouj was rich in flavor and yummy. For the main course we went with lamp chops grill and beef kabab with rice and Fattoush as the side. Both were mediocre in quality and even less in taste. The beef kabab was so tough made it hard to eat.

I have been coming to Trio for a few years now. I keep coming back to this cafe because of the exceptional customer service I have received consistently from Valerie and Nick.
Their sheesha is okay, food has gotten better but Valerie and Nick are the ONLY reason I want to keep coming back to this cafe. They are warm and welcoming, always smiling even when they are single handedly running the cafe when its packed.

Hats off to these two for their hard work and warm, friendly customer service. This cafe wont be the same without these two.

Service was really bad. We got seated and that was about it- none of the staff acknowledged us for 20 minutes, despite there only being two other tables in the entire restaurant being occupied. So we ended up leaving and on the way out, we asked if they are just busy or low staff and the lady at the front said no this is normal for them. So i guess they just lack basic costumer service skills. Definitely won’t be back.

We love this place! Came here for a coffee thinking it was just a coffee place, but I was wrong. It was way better than we thought. Food was excellent and service was even better. Thank you!

I've been going here since it opened but they recently changed owners and I've gone 3 times since and the staff is so rude now. The food is absolutely awful and and takes Forever. We went and waited over an hour for our food and shisha it was absolutely terrible. I will never be back again. I still can't believe how rude the staff is. I asked for a tea and they told me they wouldn't make it with milk and sugar.

TRIO is a shisha bar and restaurant combined. They should pick one or the other as they can't seem to make up their mind. The decor is dated and it smelled old and musty. Having a meal surrounded with men playing cards, smoking shisha bongs was not a nice experience! It was frustrating for us and the waitress to keep coming back to tell us that most of the food we ordered was not available. It took a very long time to get our food and when I got mine it was like the chef couldn't decide what to make so he just slopped a bunch of stuff on a plate. We had a large group and the consensus was - been there, not doing that again. Hard pass!
*I noticed too that the management only responds to positive 5 star reviews. What a pity that they are making no effort to improve their restaurant and listed to what the customers want. They could be doing so much better accepting criticism and making positive change! Sad.

Came here with a group of Egyptians for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by the food. We ordered Koshary and it is better than the koshary from other places in the area. The fattouch, labne and potatoes were excellent. Cynthia was our server and she was very attentive and friendly. Hookah and tea were on point. Overall great experience here.

I gave a 2 because of shisha which was good. We ordered 5 dishes and few sides, salads and dips. Service was great but food was old. Refried fries, falafel hard like a puck, old salad. Disappointed.

Good food. Great value. Service can improve a bit. They need to give more attention to cleanliness especially in the outdoor area.

Got a trio worst ever mix grill. Meat is not any tasty nor marinated. All food is too old not freshly cooked. They alternated the beef skewer with another chicken skewer. Rice is awful, old, and very few that barely covers the bottom of the tray. Salad also is too old and vegetables are almost dead. Portion size indeed is much smaller than what you expect for the price.

We've come to Trio twice now whenever we've visited Calgary, and both times our service was beyond exceptional. The food is so good. The shisha, great! We always see only one server. I don't know his name but honestly he is an amazing server and is outgoing and really kind. Any questions, he always takes his time to answer, and he is so polite. We will definitely be going back to Trio when we come into the city this weekend. Definitely deserves 5 stars.

My friend and I went to this Egyptian café because of their dessert menu, and it was not disappointing at all. The traditional tea and Om Ali was fantastic.and the atmosphere was chill and lay back. We did not realize that they offered shisha (water pipe) service there.so I think if people who enjoy water pipe might also like this cafe.

Third time in a row at this restaurant. Absolutely love the food! They have vegan dishes and non-vegan! Service is great! I had Valerie and Nick serving my friend and me, they are very kind and respectful.

Wow what a great place! I love coming here to relax after long weeks at work. Loved Valeria’s service the last few times I came in. I recommend trying the lamb chops, and the fatoush salad

Good flavour but I feel cheated on the salad which was way under a $10+ portion. Wraps are tasty but very small. First time trying and will likely not order again.

I been here many times. In last three weeks, I been here three times. Every time you go there, food is delicious and presentation is great. Sheesha flavors are great. Only thing is bringing this place down is customer service. I ordered drinks and food. Kept waiting for drinks. I ordered Trio Mezza platters, it comes with three items and pita bread. They forgot pita bread and asked them twice, they got it after asking third time. Still no drinks. When we were almost done with food, after asking many times, they got out drinks. We just wanted to have few drinks and nice food. Due to Covid restrictions, no alcohol after 11pm. Because, server did not brought drinks on time and we were not asked for last call for drinks, we had only one drink. We spend more than three hours, it was not that busy, no one checked our table, we have to wave our hands to server to get anything. Great people, nice place, delicious food, but need to improve there service. Serive is equally bad, regardless it is busy or slow.

They don’t accept customers with international proof of vaccine or vaccine cards from other provinces which doesn’t make sense for people visiting Calgary.

It wasn't a great experience. I think the food was actually decent however there were just so many issues with the service that I won't be back.

Lamb chops came with two chop
Bun of the burger was falling apart because it was stale and the beef patty was solid as a rock. You could tell the fries had been made before and just refried again! Would never go there again 108 dollars still gave eternity bucks tip just for the the attendant

The most disturbing place to eat with ur family. The food was not cooked and the place is discusting. Expensive for nothing. I dont recomend and I never will go to them again.

This is the best tasting food I had in a very long time. You want great atmosphere the best food please try and eat here you will not be disappointed by any means. This place is my fav! Nick and Valerie are super welcoming and friendly. Oh, and I have seen them when it's crazy busy.they are so hardworking and efficient. The owners are freaking adorable! I love this place

Just finished our meal we had ordered for take out from Trio. First time ordering and I was impressed with the service and quality of ingredients.

We tried the KOSHARI and it’s was absolutely delicious. The flavours were authentic. The chickpeas were fresh not from can. I’m extremely happy with overall experience and service i had.

The best middle eastern food I’ve tried so far! Honestly, this place surprised me. The restaurant is 1. Clean and beautiful place. Feels very homie. Service and hospitality is top notch
2. Food, drinks and even the desserts are good!
3. The shisha is the best one I’ve tried! The quality of it is very good. It did not feel heavy at any moment

This restaurant is not just well priced excellent food, it's very friendly experience! I ordered the Hawawshi with fries as a pick up order which was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious; with in the 5 minutes I was there, I was greeted by all the people working that night and I knew everyone's name by the time I left! The entire atmosphere was very friendly, happy and positive, I highly recommend this place!

Me and my girlfriends spent Valentine’s Day at Trio. The atmosphere, music, service and food were all great! There is hookah there also that we all enjoyed. I would highly recommend this restaurant I know we are going back again and again!

Service was very bad. We got our menus and then didn’t get checked on again for 25 minutes. After we finally ordered, our food took another 40 minutes to come with our side coming 20 minutes before the main dish. Then once we got the main dish we didn’t have any plates or utensils and didn’t get brought any till we had to ask 15 minutes after getting our food which resulted in our food being cold. Too top it off when given our bill the server stood right over my shoulder looking directly at the machine. Seemed like because we didn’t seem like regular customers they didn’t care too much to give us the greatest service but everyone around us was being taken care of.

I am guessing people come here for the shisha and atmosphere rather than the food, because when I got takeout, the food was mediocre quality in my opinion and not something I will ever crave again. There was little to no spice or flavour.

Ambience is good.customer service is great.there quiet corners for single individuals also.one thing I didnt like is they dont serve water for free.any person enjoying sisha would need water frequently n they charge for that.food is expensive but good.

Good sisha but the service was very poor. I went last night with 6 friends one of them never got his food. We waited for 20 minutes to get our sisha. It is a nice place to stay but needs to improve their service.

My friends and I have been coming here for over a year and the staff has always been nice. Our experience this week was anything but nice. They refused to serve us tap water, even though we had purchased a bottle of wine. The reason the manager gave us, was that they don't have to serve us water unless we are visibly drunk, and to deter people from loitering for hours. Our end bill was over $100, so that last reason doesn't make sense. Another thing that really bothered us was that on the menu, the shisha price is listed at $16.99, but on our bill we were charged $19.99. That's a 15% price increase and the manager refused to change our bill to reflect the posted price. We were very disappointed with this experience and won't be back.

Got to meet Ash & George and compliment our server Chanel’s warm, attentive service. It’s a great thing to have a cozy space with party potential within the neighbourhood that’s not only locally owned but with hands on owners. The prices were fair across the board. I look forward to sitting on their patio in the summer months and have likely found a new door to darken often.

Staff was very nice, went in on a busy night were sat outside but as soon as a table was free inside they told us and moved us in. Prices a little high but worth it.

Ok, I would like to start this review by saying that this was my first time coming, but my mom has came here before. My mom never had a bad experience here before, but that might be because there was less people. There was around 15 of us that came in, we had made a reservation. We all ordered our meals at the same time and throughout an hour and a half the meals came out sparsed out. Some of us got our meals right away, while the others got them 1 hour later. After all of this, our server was not accommodating and was very nonchalant. After half of us received our meals 1 hour later, all we received was some baklava and FREE WATER. Our bills were not discounted whatsoever. Not to mention our server told none of us that there was a 15% gratuity added to the bill, so most of us ended up tipping 30% on top of our bills for horrible service. I understand that restaurants can get backed up and things happen, but the fact that what we NEVER got told about the gratuity and we did not even get a DISCOUNT. Next time please do everyone a favour and just don’t take reservations for big tables if the restaurant doesn’t know how to properly cater to them.

Tried Trio for the first time the other night, and am really not impressed. We smoke shisha a few times a week, and were looking for somewhere new, but this place was bad from the minute we sat down.
The decor is interesting and all the staff were friendly, but our server didn't seem to know much about the menu, and never came back after we were given our shisha, waters and tea. We kept looking around for her, to order food, but she must have finished her shift without saying anything?
The next server was nice as well, and eventually we got fries, which tasted fine, but were undercooked and greasy.
Shisha was okay (we were recommended the orange gum mint), but the flavour burned out quicker than most other places.
Maybe the service suffered because we came on a busy night, or maybe our server was new, but either way, I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon (which is a shame, because their Seafood nights look yum!)

Gotta say, I went in here for the first time today with pretty high hopes, I’m a big shisha fan.
But it went right downhill as soon as we tried to order.
The waitress was rather clueless as to what was on the menu, and they didn’t have half the stuff on the drinks menu because apparently this used to be a different place, and yet the drinks menu has their name.
Whatever, we ordered something that they did have, which was alright, then we ask for water, and apparently there is a policy that they only give out water bottles, and yet a few tables around us had glasses of water, so the policy is either made up, or selectively applied.
I get it, usually shisha places give water bottles to people who just come and smoke shisha, but we ordered drinks and food as well as shisha, so that’s just how they price hike ya.
Shisha came, which was decent, but the hose and tips are extremely cheap and low quality compared to most other places.
Ordered some fries for food, which were home cut and hot, but undercooked.
Service was pretty much non existent until our waitress left, without telling us. The replacement guy was good though.
Overall, not impressed at all, and most likely won’t be back.

Zaineb& Cheyanne are very polite and they gave me great service. I would definitely come again. The environment is very good as well and food was very amazing. My first time in Calgary and this is the first restaurant I came to and it was all very good. Thank you for great service.

The server (manager) was extremely rude. Served us row fries. When we asked for the plate to be changed because of the fries and because the Hawawshi tasted so bad she refused as its not their problem if we like the taste or not. They took the plate and packaged it as a take-away and insisted that we pay for it. At the end the server (manager) asked us to cook the hawashi at home and bring her some so she can taste the good hawawshi.
She was extremely rude. She kept touching shoulders and leaning towards us in a way that was very uncomfortable.

It is hard to write a brief review for such an amazing place. This is by far the best place to enjoy Shisha, the decorations are great also the tables are always clean, plus you get to enjoy of the music and dances. This is a place where you feel really welcome, the service is incomparable it is a place where you definitely want to stay.

- they offered raw fries, overly spicy beef sandwich with hardly any beef and when the manager “kindly” asked what do we think of the food we pointed out those problems.offered a replacement yet she ended up packaging it for us to take to go!
Claiming that we almost finished it!

maybe they should consider their food portions If they consider 5 fries and 1/4 of a sandwich as “almost done”.

Then when we were leaving again the manager told my wife “please cook your own and bring it with you next time as i would love to try it if it’s better than us! ”

This is by far the best place I've been to in all of Calgary! Its lives, the staff is courteous and the service is on point! It's a to go place for our group each weekend and we can never have enough of it even then. A special shout out to noora here who is a joy to meet each weekend with her warm welcome smiles and hugs. My friend and I tried Trio for the first time yesterday and we had a great time! Our server Melissa was amazing, even tho the place was busy she managed to get us everything we wanted. Great food and atmosphere!

Trio is my go to place when I'm looking for the best shisha in town! Their food is amazing and their service is top notch:) Zainab was our waitress and she did a great job, Nora is such a sweet heart and always takes care of us when we come! I love that they play Arabic music, that's the real atmosphere of a shisha lounge. I recommend this place for those who want to chill and enjoy great food and awesome shisha. Hint (kiwi blueberry mint shisha is soooo good)

Not gunna lie I didnt love it. The food was ok but the shisha was kind of bad. The first girl was actually noce but the ppl after werent. Probably not going again.
