Great Latin club to spend a Saturday Night. I recommend to rsvp and get upstairs table as it get too crowded.

Happy hour is great.

The food is worth the price. Haven't been able to test the atmosphere due to pandemic, but the taco platter, the apps, and the burritos are all divine.

The tacos were alright but not Mexican authentic, for sure you can find better places to eat in Calgary. About their parties, they’re pretty descent, they have a good atmosphere. However, they’re very repetitive, if you go quite often you’ll notice that they always play the same remix and they always have the same people performing. It would be nice to have a variety and not see nor hear the same DJ/people performing every single weekend.

Never do any job for them, because at end they say they are not paying because they don’t have money, they have been using our services for 2 years and saying we are stuck out of country now not paying

It was a phenomenal experience! Delicious food, fantastic music, great service, and excellent cocktail choices! This restaurant turns into a bar/club after 10PM and it’s the absolute vibe!

The bartender, Jerwin, was exceptional! 10/10 service and he made the best drinks!

Great tacos & quesadillas. SLOWEST service ever. The table beside us eventually walked out instead of waiting. No drinks, utensils or napkins with our food.

I loved this spot. We came in for a quick drink and snack but couldn't leave. It turned out to be an almost all night thing. The staff here are so great and fast with orders. The drinks are good from small margaritas to 7oz margaritas or have a Pina colada out of a pineapple. Why not? ! The music was on point and the atmosphere had a chill vibe. With a lot of people finding room to dance. There are some VIP areas upstairs that have a great secluded area and another bar. I would recommend coming here on a Friday or Saturday if you want some soft club vibes. The owner introduced himself as well. What a great guy! Oh kitchen staff. You rock. Amazing food!

The nachos were really good and the service was excellent. The patio is pet friendly. There are pretty good happy hour deals.

The food is good and the prices are reasonable. But the songs that the DJ plays are repetitive and old, so you get tired of dancing to the same kind of music.

It never shows as out of delivery zone, so I placed the orders to get th two times via one delivery platform and even confirming with them the availability over the phone amf just 5 minutes before the scheduled devilvery this restaurant cancels. Its unacceptable and not even am apology for it.

Great music with such a good vibe honestly. This place is just extremely small and crowded. Went around 10: 30. Our server was so nice and friendly, she even danced with us. Drinks are a bit overpriced and were nothing special but overall, would come here again for the atmosphere

Bad costumer service, NOT RELIABLE. My confirmed reservation (made week ago) for Group of friends dinner was canceled a day before. No compensation just offer to reschedule different date? Not everyone in the group wasn't able to change they schedule and plans. I had no choice other then finding different restaurant.

The place is way too small, music too load, we couldn't talk, there was no table available and the second floor was closed.

Went there for the Halloween party, with a group of 5, made reservations and pre bought tickets. It was way too crowded downstairs. Like I mean 120 in a place with not much more ft² then an average apartment. Tables reserved for bottle service, even though half were empty. We wanted to order food, but weren't gonna stand and eat. Upstairs was closed to us, even though we had a reservation and vip access tickets. All in all terrible. $14 for a margarita poured from a Slurpee type machine is ridiculous. DJ was good, music was good, atmosphere is great. This bar has so much potential.

We discovered this place on DoorDash and I was super impressed. It is such good value for the price. 10 tacos with two proteins for $40. The portions are huge, everything is super tasty and very fresh! New found fave.

Came around 8. Service could be worked on but it was busy. Food was delicious and drinks were tasty!

Had an amazing time going out here last night, it was my first time and definitely not my last. The music was a vibe and a half, don't think I've sweat that much from dancing before. But what really made my night was the service and bartending from Darwin (excuse me if that's not their name) was on point and made sure I kept getting my water! Plus they gave my friend and I some complimentary champagne

I used to work there as a dj for 2 years, and its owners deceived me giving me the half of the minimum salary promising to put my name on payroll and they never did fulfill it. I saw how they evaded taxes to the government (I have the proofs) and also how they sold expired food to the public. Many workers contracted under the table, dirty people.also they stole from me my social insurance number. Got proofs as well. An investigation will be open this week.

Jerwin absolutely made my night elevated my experience beyond belief. I’ll be back here for sure excellent place for dancing and great music.

I'll start with the bad, the service was not good. It was 6 o'clock with only 2 other tables in the restaurant, and multiple servers on. Everything took a long time, even just to have drink orders taken. My 3 friends all got their food before me, and almost finished by the time my food arrived with no "sorry for the wait" or anything. I was pretty annoyed at this point, but that being said, I took one bite of my enchiladas, and they were hands down the best enchiladas I have ever had, and now one of the best things I have ever eaten. I would definitely LOVE to eat here again, the food is fabulous, but I just hope they can get better training or organization with their staff. Because even after this we ordered churros, and ended up just asking for the bill because the server forgot to punch them in.

This place is amazing:) the atmosphere is enjoyable. The music and food is great. This the best place Latin bar in town.

Terrible service!
We had reservation for 5 on Thursday. It wasn’t so busy. The food came to our table one by one which it would not happen. We waited 50 minutes for last food.
We got drinks after 20 minutes.
Nobody asked us for water, nobody bring us napkins.
I don’t recommend this place on 17th are definitely better places then this on!

Juan Pablo helped us turn an incredibly bad birthday into one of the best my girlfriend has ever had, the staff and him made the place a personal paradise for us and we couldn't appreciate it more

Really liked the atmosphere here! The nachos were great (a little on the greasy side tho) and I would shy away from the passion fruit margarita but other than that this place is amazing! So many fun drinks to chose from and super cool little place

After some research we decided to come here for a bite and some drinks, it was Saturday 645 pm and the hostess asked what we were there for? We said we like to eat and have some drinks she then asked us how long it would take us to eat? She mentioned the Restaurant was booked with reservations starting at 9 pm and there was no tables for us to sit at, we got the vibe from her that our business was not welcomed and I did feel quite uncomfortable so we did leave and they did not hesitate to let us.so sorry to have experienced this we were excited to try this new place.

One of my favourite bars on 17th by far! The drinks are amazing (I recommend the HUGE margarita) and the food is very authentic and tasty. Always my go-to spot for an amazing night out!

My buddy Edwin took me there (first time in a latin place since I moved to Calgary) and had a blast. Great music and even better party environment. The place to go in Calgary for latin music!

Won’t be coming here again. Service was terrible, and food took so long to arrive, and at different times. I’d had a pleasant happy hour experience here months ago. Went back tonight for my birthday to have some food and drinks with friends. Server got multiple things wrong with our order, food came out so ridiculously slow and one at a time so nobody had their food at the same time as anyone else making us all sit there with food getting cold for 20 mins just to have a bite together.

Restaurant wasn't even half capacity, it took 25 minutes to get drinks. When our food was brought out only one of our meals came, the other came 20 minutes later. When we asked the manager of this was normal service to expect she said 'oh sorry, ran off and never came back. The manager also stood at a table on the floor and ate food with that table during the time the service had gone so sideways. Other tables were reciving food before they even had drinks. No compensation or apology for the poor service. Although the food and drinks were good, shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a margarita. Definitely expect a lot more when you're paying over $100 for some drinks and a small amount of food. Won't be back.

The server overcharged me and then when i corrected her she said she couldn't fix it so i had to pay like $30 extra (with tip) for drinks i didn't even order

Terrible service. Sat down and it took the server almost 10 min to recognize us and greet us. The people behind us got served way before we did. I also feel since it is a family owned business that they should take it more seriously as the girl that was in charge of seating people kept talking to a friend of hers and did not end the conversation when a bunch of customers are waiting in line to get a table seated. Thank goodness i had a voucher from TasteOf17Ave or i will not have stayed and pay full price for such terrible service.

I meant to write a review a long time ago. My boyfriend and I are big fans of Tropical. The atmosphere is really nice in the restaurant.
Some of the drinks are ridiculously large and tasty: D
We also recommend the tacos on Tuesdays.

Good food but sadly this place has very poor customer service. Waited for 45 minutes for two quesadillas as somehow our order was "lost". The restaurant wasn't even busy! I've eaten there a few times and service is always lacking

Had a reservation that was totally screwed up. They tried to blame us and say it was our fault, even though they spelt the name wrong! We waited about half an hour for them to finally give us the tables, and then they told us to do better for next time. The host was beyond rude. Our server literally came around once in an hour. So disappointing and definitely won’t be back.

Waitress tried to charge us for 4 beers that we didnt have. Also auto-gratted us we were 2 people. It ruined the experience. Id give it another try if we had a different server.

Bright spot was the hostess working that day was great she accomodated our table without a reservation on a busy day.

Worst service in town for a bar, took 45 minutes to get nothing after ordering. People at the entrance are very rude and waiters do nothing for attending customers. Please save yourself a bad time this was my second time giving them a chance, AVOID YOU’LL BE BETTER OFF PARTYING ANYWHERE ELSE!

Great music! Went on a Saturday night. Used the online ordering system via QR code at 1020pm and it’s been a full 60 minutes and no order arrival for my entire table but one person. Spoke to two waiters on staff in this time frame and still waiting for the one drink I ordered. You think after speaking to first person 30 mins they would have tried to resolve this. Poorly disorganized and bad communication between bar staff and online system.

Literally the worste service and host I've ever seen. We came here with 12 people and we all left after one drink as it took over 45 min before we saw our waitress again. We came here to spend money! Haha but it's OK if these guys don't want it! Haha we are on our way to spend it at chakalaka!

Not cheap, but great, authentic Latin food and drink. Staff is nice and diligent. The 35 dollar shared margarita is great for lovers. The patio is small and at rush hour, with the wrong wind, the vehicle exhaust hurts the patio experience, but that is not the fault of Tropical. The place must rock at night, but each time we have been there we have had our children. Thursdays there are 2.50 tacos and 5 buck margaritas, which are both deals not to be missed.

It has so much potential to be great! Good food and cheap and tasty drinks! But their service isn't great and the real death knell for them is going to be this whole making you order and pay from your phone each and every time you order, like Mill Street tried to do and then closed shortly after cause that's rediculous. Especially when nearly every item on their menu says 'ask your server for the daily special' but she doesn't come until you've already ordered on the app.
