Words that best describe Tom Shackleton - Un-ethical, greedy, dishonest. He is more of a businessman rather than a dentist/health professional. His assessments are biased and always in favor of the party that pays him the thousands of dollars to complete his assessment. And he does it for repeat business so that the same party will pay for his services in the future.

Complaint filed with the dental college for his unethical and biased assessments. Watch for the results of their investigation on their website soon.

Tom is a fantastic dentist. Very professional and always willing to step up and help a patient in need. Case in point, I was dealing with dental pain and he went out of the way to send a prescription on Sunday afternoon to a pharmacy of choice. Very very impressed

I am very impressed with Dr. Shackleton. My wife needed to see him for a couple visits to have an issue addressed. I was able to attend the second appointment.

The team is welcoming and efficient.

Dr. Shackleton is thorough, attentive, funny, and excellent in explaining procedures and causation. Moreover, he clearly cares about his patients and their well-being.

Thank you.

Dr. Shackleton and his team are professional, knowledgeable and kind. I had a dental emergency and they fit me in promptly. The issue was resolved painlessly and quickly. The staff also took the time to go over the follow-up care. Dr. Shackleton even phoned to check in the next day, really highlighting that he goes above and beyond for his patients. He is also extremely knowledgeable and keeps up on recent research in his field in order to offer you the best care. I have had nothing but great experiences in my subsequent visits to his office. Highly recommend!

Dr. Tom Shackleton is excellent when dealing with patients who have high levels of anxiety and previous traumatic dental experiences. He is a very knowledgeable, and gentle doctor who can definitely put a patient at ease. We needed help right away, and Lori booked us in at their earliest availability to accommodate our tight deadlines. It is a family business whose care we genuinely felt from start to finish. Thank you!

Be careful with his statements on the first visit. If he mentions, he is confident in doing something, it means opposite. As a person involving in dental procedures, The worst experience I have ever had in my life with a dentist. Referred to Dr. Shackleton for a possible root tooth abscess (periapical root radiolucency). The tooth had previously been treated in another country (Root canal and crowning). He obtained the 3D oral radiogrphs and stated that the tooth needed treatment. His office submitted the pre-approval to my insurance, which was rejected, as his office had submitted the code “Retreatment of the tooth root”. His office emailed me that Dr. Shackleton wanted my insurance to confirm in writing, that they would cover the cost of “retreatment”! I contacted my insurance and explained every thing. They responded “if this tooth had been covered before by this policy, they would not cover it again, however, if they had not cover it, the dental office needed to send it under “Primary treatment” which they would confirm and cover it. I communicated this to the dental office and one of the his receptionists called my insurance and explained everything to them again. On the same day, my insurance approved the plan with a code, suggested by the claim expert, knowing the fact that the tooth was already treated outside Canada.
To my surprise, I received an email from his office that “ Dr. Shackleton will only proceed with the procedure o condition that, the Insurance confirms the code for “retreatment only” in writing! And they consider the new code as the denial of the coverage!
I called my insurance again and they stated “ according to their records no coverage has been done for this tooth and it is eligible for treatment”.
He is trying to conceal his lack of confidence in dealing with this tooth by making excuse and put the blame on the insurer, and forcing me to pay the expense out of my pocket.
I wish he had the courage to say that he was uncomfortable to deal with this case and referred me back to my own Dentist.
He has not only wasted my time and money but also delaying the treatment. Now I have to pay another consultaiton fee to another endodentist.
What is unethical or unprofessional about performig a procedure which insurance is fully aware of the details and they themselves willingly suggest a legal way to cover the cost?
Is there any more legal document than the approval of the Insurance to cover the cost and their communication, that he requests a letter in writing?
If medical records contain the precise history, the consent of the client and the insurer approval, is it still illegal and unethical to proceed with the procedure?
Did I ask him to present a falsified code to deceive the insurance to get the coverage?
If he has issue with insurance companies, inform the clients prior to the consultaion and get their informed consent that insurance company has to comply with his rules.

My husband went in twice for oral surgery and we found the front office staff to be very friendly and accomodating. Dr. Shackleton was very friendly and knowledgeable and was able to describe the issues and course of treatment in a way that was easy to understand. He was able to phone and check on my husband's progress after hours when he came down with an infection to make sure everything was okay and to let us know he was available if it became an issue.we would recommend his office with no hesitation.

Great experience considering it was kind of a scary situation. Janice at the front desk was absolutely amazing! Dr. Shackleton was great and explained everything in terms that I could understand. And the fact that they direct billed my insurance was the icing on the cake.

During this special Holiday season, we reflect upon the good things we have had and people we met during the year. One of those great people was Tom Shackleton and his team. I was referred there after unbearable tooth pain over the September long weekend. All I have to say is a huge thank you for his expertise, professionalism, respect and honesty during the timely and painless treatment. Wishing him and his team health, peace, prosperity and happiness this holiday season and in the year ahead!

Dr. Shackleton is awesome! He had to redo a root canal I had when I was younger and he made the whole process as easy as it could be. He is experienced, personable and was able to subside my anxieties of redoing this process over again! Highly recommend!

Absolutely love coming here! I had a terrible root canal done last year, and Dr Shackelton has been able to repair the damage and fix it up good as new! He is very friendly and personable, very knowledgeable and is great at keeping a nervous patient (me!) calm! He talked me through the entire treatment plan so I knew exactly what was going on every step of the way, and made sure I was comfortable all along the way. He is absolutely phenomenal; I’ve already recommended him to friends!

Dr. Shackleton (or T-Shacks as I call him- but not to his face) has been my endo for a number of years. He has been warm, sympathetic and helpful since day one. His assistant Tarah is very friendly and compassionate as well. They have some good banter between them which I find soothing (and amusing). These people are legit.

I am a girl who has greatly feared dentists all my life. I had a very nasty fall a few weeks ago and damaged my front tooth. Today I had a root canal done by Dr Shackleton and he was nothing but AMAZING. I was terrified about going in and how I felt leaving was such a different story. Truly. I’m not even someone who ever posts reviews but when I say he was beyond phenomenal I mean it. He has a great sense of humour, very funny, kind, and explained every step he did during the procedure which made me feel at such ease. My mom and I were both extremely happy to see such a great doctor. Thank you Dr Shackleton!
