Great campground clean shower and toilet facilities. Nice winter hikes nearby I’m sure it’s nice in the summer too. It would be nice to see an on-site coffee shop and wifi as the signal sometimes is sketchy

The largest campsite in Banff. A place with an outdoor tent similar to glamping, a trailer court, and a camping site all together. There are limited places to get firewood. The space between toilets is wide and there are few showers. However, the warm shower works well.

The campsite is actually very nice, checking very uncomplicated, oh the pitch is big enough. Only the sanitary facilities - too small for so many visitors, clearly showing their age in the exhibition and not exactly clean. There is still some catching up to do! Otherwise ok - the connection to the town with public transport is very good.

Nice clean and quite campground with electricity and dump station. Banff can be reached by 30 min walking or with bus

We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in one of the Otentik (yurt) as we had arrived in Alberta by plane. The accommodations included, two queen mattresses and a double mattress situated on a series of platforms within the unit, a Coleman stove with included propane tank, a bear box for locking up food, a fire pit and a free supply of wood as well as outstanding views straight out the front door.

It was incredibly quiet on the inside and the nearby comfort stations were a bit dated but were kept very tidy.

The Banf Go Bus (public transit) runs right into the campground so no need to drive into the town of Banf if desired. It is free for campers to bus in but they only accept change on the return trip. Take note as we heard of people getting stranded by this.

The only negative I can think of is that to get one of the Otentik’s is like trying to win the lottery. We tried to get them in other parks and were only able to luck into this one.

Beautiful, quiet, easy to get into and out of with truck and trailer. Power hook ups at site, fresh water and sani dump available close by.

Not much more than street parking with power and picnic table. Is convenient for exploring around Banff.
24 October 2022 6:58
Absolutely lovely camp/RV ground in Banff.
Huge pitches with hook ups and fire pits. Free wood which was a bonus other sites charged between 10 - 12 dollars.
Beautiful scenery and plenty of trails to walk. Shuttle bus down into Banff free then a few dollars back. Hot clean shower blocks if needed. Wildlife roaming free which was a delight to see.
07 January 2022 19:57
Saw some elk and deer. Make sure to pick up firewood near the showers area since the nights can be cold
06 January 2022 18:23
Incredible location for views and convenient transport links with bus line 2 into town, low cost public transport. Facilities were good, warm clean toilets and showers. Also plenty of firewood on site for use. Drawback was that there were no staff on site to answer our queries, November 21.
21 November 2021 21:40
It's very close camping but you're not there for the space. There's a bus stop at the entrance, good cellular signal, electrical is clean (125v) and was very quiet.
16 November 2021 2:54
This campsite is the worst I have been to. The sites are on the road, it is more of a pit stop. I would have never booked here if they had photos of the site. The campsites have no trees and there is zero privacy. The parks workers also came knocking on my door for having some embers in my fire pit without me outside. I could have understood this if I wasnt on a rock pad with no trees and wet ground. The showers and bathrooms are freezing.
14 November 2021 16:36
I loved the place! Worth every penny, I would rate it 9/10 that’s just because they are kind of close to each I wish it was more trees or a little distance between the cabins. Great view
25 October 2021 21:48
I was a bit weary about staying at a government campsite, but I was pleasantly surprised with this. Having a bus that an bring you to town was nice. And it was free to town. Was an amazing view, you can't get much better. Not expensive and well kept.
11 October 2021 17:21
Parking on the side of the road, with power. Not really suitable for tenting in most sites. Great base of activities for other activities in Banff.
03 October 2021 15:14
Clean sites and washrooms. Free bus service into Banff. Friendly, welcoming staff at check in gate.
12 September 2021 22:09
Great camp ground and very clean for its size bus comes right in to pick you up and take you to town and many attractions. Views are amazing. Sights are along the road and a good size. Quiet for a campground with over 300 sites.
04 September 2021 16:26
Not like we expected. Loved that it was easy to get into. Wished there would have been more distance between sites and more privacy/trees. That being said, it was nice. The campground was clean and everyone was super friendly. Think I would try Village 1 next time, but we really enjoyed our time there, regardless.
27 August 2021 15:45
Mapping when booking could be better, but loved the camp ground! The views, space, cleanliness, and friendliness was well worth the trip from Ontario!
23 August 2021 16:54
Nice place, used the otentik and it has 5 beds, heated space, shared washroom & shower and kitchen shelter, includes all you can burn firewood for your pit, bear lock and propane stove.
22 August 2021 2:14
We had really good experience staying at this campsite. If you have young kids and do prefer convenience for camping, this is the place to be. About 10 min drive to town yet still in the woods, This place has everything that you need - clean washroom/showers, spacious clean cabins, ample supply of firewood, your own barbecue with propane tank, Electricity. Our kids really loved it!
17 July 2021 16:52
It met expectations for our convenience. We stayed in the oTENTik. I would recommend for a short or long stay, for those who do not want to set up a tent. Close to the bathroom and showers. Close to the town centre.

Came here for New Year's Eve. Surprised to see that the campers are all parallel parked, nose to bumper, along the side of the road within the campground. The first few loops were quite full. We went to one of the further ones we could get to, and there was only one other camper on that road so at least we weren't nose to bumper. And it seems you are only allowed to have fire at a few of the sites, I don't understand the rules about that. But there are clean, heated bathrooms, and some nice walking, xc and snow shoe trails right at the campground, so for a winter camping trip where you don't spend much time sitting outside your camper anyway, it's not bad. There is also a bus that picks you up from the campground to take you into Banff, which is convenient, tho we didn't take it and not sure how often it runs.
15 February 2020 6:22
We were group of 5 and we stayed in the Otentik. You need to bring your own blanket and a pillow. The room condition was okay and tidy. It was late September but room temperature was very warm enough. Their location is the best - very easy access to the downtown Banff. However, when I used the washroom and shower area, it wasn't really clean (so gross!). Also you have no privacy. We could see other campers only a few feet from us in clear sight. Overall, it was a unique experience but I would consider to go other camp site next time.
11 February 2020 1:18
We stayed in the tent during the new years eve. Helpful staff and friendly service. Close to Banff and an option for the expensive hotels, besides if you like to camp out, no other options.
07 February 2020 14:25
The heated bathrooms and camp kitchens with wood burning stoves make winter camping (tenting) so much easier. It is a great place to introduce people to this experience.
This is a great campground with easy access to cross country ski trails. It is also a great place to gain experience using snowshoes.
There are power outlets in the camp kitchens.
23 January 2020 11:20
Facilities are clean however the campground has more the appearance of a big parking lot rather than a campground in a national park.
18 December 2019 11:30
A great campground in yoho national Park no hookups but a dump and water station are nearby. Beautiful scenery a great place to relax
20 November 2019 1:31
Very well-distributed (isolated) campsites with nice fresh interior. They supply a lockbox to put grill and food so you don’t have to tie everything up in the trees! Showers and other facilities and well maintained and there was even some firewood on site upon arrival. Definitely recommend for groups up to sizes of six people per site. Can’t wait to go back and bring the family!

We went during late October when only Village 2 B is open for the winter season. It was a great experience and we'll be going back. In the photos you can see a group of elk walking through the grounds.

Of note: the B sites are all powered with two pug in points, perfect if you want to have an indoor and outdoor hookup or if you have two campers to connect to the grid. Each campsite also has a picnic table but no fire pits (these are located in site A which are closed).

There are dish washing and undercover cooking stations which are amazing in the colder weather.

There are a couple of shower blocks and a number of toilet blocks without showers in. Both types are heated with change rooms. They aren't to big of a walk away from any campsite, though as it can be slippery with the snow and ice I'd recommend grabbing a site close to the shower blocks if you aren't confident walking on slippery surfaces.

The roads are well maintained. In the snow they plough and gravel the paths to make sure it's grippy however you will need winter tires after October 1 (it's mandatory in the surrounding national Park area anyway) but the drive from the city of Banff up to the campground would be tricky/ impossible this time of year without winter tires.

There is a bus that runs from 6: 50am to 11: 30pm from the campground down to the town centre. You can purchase a ticket for $2 for the ride or $5 for the day on the bus. You can also go into town and buy a 10 pass ($17 +$3 for the card) or monthly pass from the Banff Roam centre. One 10 pass card can be shared between a group so it's good value.

We paid ~$30 per night which was worth it for the views, power and maintenance. The trip was booked a month or so in advance and I'd recommend booking in advance so you can get the same campsite for the duration of the stay. We've also rocked up and just taken what they had left before but be prepared to move around.

Bonus - the Masala Authentic Indian restaurant will deliver food to the campsite you're staying in. Taxi cabs will also pick you up from your campsite if it's too late for the bus.
30 October 2019 14:50
We only visited friends here, but it definitely isn't a place I would want to book. All the vehicles are parallel parked in their "spots", it is like parking on the side of the road. There are small green spaces between each "street" as your campsite. There was power and fire pits with wood included, but that was the only positive I saw.
23 October 2019 2:36
Stayed in Otentiks and was a fun experience. All you need is a blanket and a pillow and you are set.
22 October 2019 12:38
Great first stop on our Canadian RV trip. Incredibly helpful Parcs Canada staff, particularly a guy called Jack. Stayed 3 nights. Loads to do in the area. Good washing facilities. Gets booked up quickly but there is a ring road unserviced that we were told is never full so don't worry if you rock up late with no booking.
17 October 2019 11:36
This is a well kept campground. With all the amenities you could need. The section we stayed in was not really the type of site we were looking for. It was a site were you just parallel park on the side of the road and have a picnic table with a small space. They do have other type of sites available so just be sure to book appropriately. Also there is a bus that will pick you up at the campground and take you right into town. There is a nice trail that you can take and walk to town as well, just be aware that it is a bit of a hike
12 October 2019 11:06
Nice site very practical you park on the road so not secluded pitches facilities ok not to European standards
27 September 2019 14:55
I guess it depends on what you are looking for. If a camping experience in the woods in your own cozy enclave. This isn't it. If you don't plan on staying in your trailer and really this is just to sleep it's great. As someone else put it, it's the national park Walmart parking lot. Pavement everywhere, very few trees, zero privacy. Albeit clean bathrooms and great dump facilities. We won't be coming back as we prefer the cozy woodsy campgrounds like Whistler's or some sites at Wapati in Jasper.

Pavement

It’s Banff, so even though it’s a National Park don’t expect a tranquil backwoods experience. But it’s very clean, well kept, the sites are large and all facilities are in very good working order. Unlimited firewood is included with the mandatory burning permit. And there’s transit service into the town.
27 September 2019 1:53
Very nice Parks Canada facility.clean, spacious, right on trails and therenis a free shuttle bus to downtown which is only a couple km. Loses a * for no Wifi.not that I expected WiFi but no park without WiFi gets 5*
21 September 2019 14:03
La vue sur les montagnes est extraordinaire, mais ça s’arrête là. Les terrains sont sur une rue asphaltée et on se stationne en parallèle de part et d’autre. On oublie donc l’intimité.
13 September 2019 4:51
It's basically camping in a parking lot. Stay at the nearest Walmart, it's free. Not sure who at Parks Canada approved the building of such a spectacle, but I hope they've since been released of their duties.

Great stay, just after winter so pretty dirty and there still getting things together. The views out of our trailer windows was majestic, never had that kind of view before. The morning sunrise was phenomenal.
