The lady working at the counter had the poorest customer service I have ever seen- yawning miserably and very tired. Very slow.
The guy at the trailer tow advised the wrong adapter. I went back to the line twice.
Poorest service! I was there for 1.5 hrs. To only pick up a 4 by 7.

I will say that this location is definitely one of the busiest. When it comes to the staff, they’re all very friendly and are willing to help to their fullest extent, regardless of the overwhelming number of customers in line, especially the ones that complain. The early morning pickup options are probably what attracts most people. Patience is definitely required, when it comes to waiting in line, especially when you have to go through the lineup multiple times. There are some that complain about this place, but I would assume that it’s those, that haven’t taken the time to prepare. I had the pleasure of being served by Valerie, who was able to explain clearly why the rules were the way they were and was able to help resolve an issue down by a coworker. She’s definitely relatable and is a great helper.

I have always found this location to be helpful, friendly and timely. This time I also used the movers service for the 1st time. The MOVING PROS team was excellent. I have had many terrible experiences over the years but this one was great. I will recommend the Meridian Road location and this moving company without hesitation.

U-Haul is just not set up for success. I’ve used them 20 times. I’m going to go ahead and give this rating specifically for Valerie. This is an extremely difficult company to work for. People are always yelling at you. Trucks don’t come back on time. Lines are long and at the end of the month, you might even wrap around the corner standing in line. Anyone who has ever moved knows this. But I was extremely appreciative that Valerie showed so much patience and assistance.

After I dropped off the truck I rented they said there was $700 owed in damages the next day even though when I dropped off the truck there was no damages. After taking to the manager which was rude and unprofessional they took the money out of my account without permission. On top of that I also paid for the insurance but they said it wasn’t valid. This was the worst experience I’ve ever received DO NOT go to this location they are scammers.

Such a bad customer service. If you try to speak with reception, the lady/girl doesn’t even listen and puts you on hold forever. I called multiple times because I was trying to locate something I lost and the lady straight up put me on hold for 40 mins and never reconnected. Then I called again and she doesn’t listen to you, straight up says “can I put you on hold” and there, you lose your chance to talk!

Worst nightmare! We were going from Calgary to Saskatchewan, not even three hours in and we have a flat tire and a wheel and all it’s lug nuts fell off. We almost flipped the whole truck. Waited two hours for any help from uhaul and then told they couldn’t do anything that day. We went back to Calgary to get a new truck the next day. The lady took 45m to get a lock off. Waisted mine and the i loaders time. The new truck already has a check engine light on! Now theres waisted time, angry riders, angry movers and scared drivers. Thanks uhaul

We rented a storage unit. Yesterday when we were bringing our things to it we set a couple boxes in the main area outside the vehicle and loaded our carts and walked down the hallway. Someone else pulled up during that time and stole our boxes. They spent well over an hour checking the cameras and their history for me to try and find out the persons information so I could track them down and file a police report.

Terrible experience, workers we rude and they seem to love adding in hidden fees.
Was charged at late fee and cleaning fee even though the truck was brought back before closing.
Would not recommend using Uhaul and I will no longer even consider using them again.

I had booked a hitch install online for 12 noon on 19 July 2022. I paid online and did receive an email confirming the appointment. When I got to the front desk I was told that the appointment was for 25 July at the same time. Of course I was surprised not realizing that they had changed the date from the date I had chosen on the Uhaul website. Once I left the location I reviewed the email and yes it did say July 25 however there is no where on the email where it says that date of install was changed from the one I was given when booking online. There was no apology or empathy shown by the person at the desk. I immediately canceled my appointment and asked for a refund of my money. They have lost a customer due to poor customer service and poor online booking system.

They were incredibly helpful with setting me up with a trailer and making sure I understood everything I needed to. Great experience in person and booking online (ended up saving $200 by the online booking choosing a better priced package based on how many kms I was needing).

A staff member backed into my personal vehicle after I got out of it to find out where to go. The entire driveway was blocked with Uhaul trucks and there was nowhere to park or to pull around them. I got out and waited for a bit inside the store. I came out to see if anyone outside could help me, only to watch the Uhaul, driven by a staff member back into my truck. They are now saying it's my fault for leaving it, and that he was already backing up when I got out of my truck (false). It had $800 in damages. Thank you Uhaul.

My rating is NOT because of the long line/wait (2+ hrs) because that's understandable at month end when everyone is moving. My issue is that they allowed someone to skip ahead of the line just because they were loud and entitled enough. If I'm being patient and respecting the process, i.e. For you to do your job, the lease I expect in return is for the staff to honor the line order. 0/5

Absolute garbage operation. I booked 2 trailer hitch installations. The times were emailed to me and confirmed for each car. They requested that I come in 1 hour early on 45 mins notice. So I did. Upon arrival they informed me that they can not do both cars and they didn’t realize that 2 cars needed hitches. Even though I had ordered in special hitches for each car. And had confirmed times scheduled for the installation for each car. The mechanic was so incompetent that I decided to cancel both installations and postpone my plans until I can get an installation elsewhere. I do not trust him to touch either of my vehicles.

I am a bit of a nomad. I move more often than most people should. Always get decent service from this location. Some times it's amazing service others meh. My last visit I was buying boxes and the service was outstanding. I was looking for their kit and was going to buy individual items as they didn't have a kit. The staff checked in the back to save me money. He was just super polite and amazing.

When I was informed my reservation had switched to this location I was concerned about the low rating. But everything went very smooth and I had no issues. There was a long line but I feel that is to be expected of truck rentals at the end of the month.

Location is currently under renovation!
They have ranges of boxes and moving trucks however waiting time was not reasonable (1 hour). Looks like there is no way 3 or 4 staff can handle the demand on the weekend or by the end of the month.

DISASTER!
Avoid at all costs!
Reservation made weeks in advance - Uhaul screwed up!
* Opens at 8: 00, staff trickles in starting at 8: 20. By 9: 00 people are lined up out the door.
* I called days in advance and asked what time to avoid so they are better prepared? Was told to come in first thing to make sure I get my rental ;)
* Payment process shuts down because "it's the end of the month" (peak period)
* Sent me to Okotoks to get part of my rental
* Was compensated some Km's to account for 3 hour + 100km round trip (and inconvenience)
* Drop off equipment at end destination and get "over Km's charge" because they wrote my contract in mileage and was charge in km's.
* Try calling their phone #. 6 times. After appx 12 minutes it transfers to to Uhaul head office. "They can't help with these issues".
* Head office attempt # 3 - "they can send Meridian road location a message and have them call me". Never happens!
* H O attempt # 4 - they will put me through to customer service "they can help with these issues" expected wait time. 42 minutes.
* IF you have to rent Uhaul, go to the doctor and get some valium, you're going to need it!
* Book a day in advance to straighten out what they CANNOT provide.
* PAY any extra costs to arrange your move not to be at the end of the month. THESE people CANNOT handle the operations they advertise.

I have reserved my U haul 26 ft - truck a month before my scheduled move. I plan to pick up the truck at 7am Saturday, and have my hired movers to move my furniture at 8: 30am. I was expecting to be done just about lunch time. A week before my scheduled move, a representative from Uhaul called to say that they need the truck at the same day because someone booked it ahead of me and Uhaul is giving me 4.5 hrs to use the truck, asking me to return the truck by 11: 45am. I told them it is too tight and there is no leeway for the schedule. I also added that it is usually 24 hrs for renting the truck. After more than 3x adjusting the time, I ended up moving a day earlier, Friday and returning the truck same day. I had wait 15 mins to fall in line to pick up my truck. Had I not been prepared and booked off from work, it would not have worked out with the move. The schedule adjustments and Uhaul asking to return the truck way too early was unecessary and caused stress to me and my family. Other than that, the truck itself had no issues.

I lined up over half an hour to rent a trailer. Finally got to the front and was turned away because I didn't make prior reservations to rent one. Asked if they could call to check if another location has one available. He wouldn't call and said they can't do that when a couple months prior I had someone do that before for me without me asking. Anyways, went to my car. Went to the website and they have it available to rent. If I had known that I had to do that first. I would've. Anyways, I went to a different location and it got one with no problems. Barlow attendant poor customer service that day.

Reserved a tow dolly online and when arrived was told they double-booked the only tow dolly available for the same time with another customer’s reservation. Even though the other customer was not yet there and we were already there, we were told we couldn’t have it because the other customer made the reservation online earlier than us. Nick the general manager was not helpful in resolving the situation. We were offered $50 dollars and told to go on our way, for over 2 hours of wasted time. They also checked their system and stated there were no other tow dollies available in the whole city including community locations, even though upon leaving we called around to community locations and were able to find one that we were able to get immediately. Thank you G&B Fuels in the NW for the helpful service!
Will never return to the Meridian location and you shouldn’t either!
Also be aware that the u-haul online booking system does not match actually inventory.

Truck was fine, and saved us a lot of time and money compared to either running back and forth with our pickuo trucks or hiring movers. That being said, the check-in and return process was the most confusing process that I have gone through in a while. Instructions were provided ahead of time for online check-in and return, but everything ended up being run differently once we actually got there. The truck return was the most convoluted piece. Access to the parking lot was impeded because of a backlog of trucks, once we got into the parking lot there was no clear place to go, and only one attendant to deal with about twenty trucks returning. And, again, the instructions given by the website were not what we were ultimately told by the attendant, who sent me to talk to a person inside, and I ended up having to wait in line for 20 minutes in line to talk to a person, who told me that everything was fine and wasn't sure why I was sent there. Workers were friendly but seemed just as confused as I was.

This is the third truck I've had to rent off these guys due to moving me and my family in the last 3 months this was by far the highest charge service I've ever had they asked me to use the online U-Haul service for any chances to my Order and because I use the online U-Haul to extend my reservation they charged me a whole additional day for 2 hours don't expect to be back here for a rental when I have to move again (Ps The customer service representative wasn't helpful and seemed to be in an agitated mood with customers)

Make a appointment 3 months out and then confirm it weeks out for 9: 30 am and show up only to see a line up like a stampede line up and get told you'll have to wait. Unbelievable. Hire more staff if you know that your gonna have this kind of congestion to pick up trucks. The whole concept is to book a appointment and get your vehicle so you can get back to your home and start loading ASAP! Great job U-Haul for delaying everything on poor management and organization!

ZERO stars for "U-Haul Moving & Storage at Barlow Trail".
1. I reserved the truck online BEFORE our moving day, "guaranteed" by U-Haul
2. I arrived 15 minutes ahead of my reservation – the lot was FULL of trucks
3. There was ONE very long slow-moving line for all customers (rather than different lines for reservations vs.walk-ups), and people were served in line order
4. We all waited outside in the sun; I was in line for nearly TWO HOURS
5. When I got to the front of the line they had NO trucks left, not even a smaller one to offer - on my MOVING DAY!

- They couldn't reach a customer who was late returning a truck - *this was not the location's fault.
- HOWEVER, while I was in line, they rented a number of trucks to others who DID NOT have a reservation without ensuring there were enough trucks for those who did.

It was AWFUL trying to find help during COVID at month-end while the movers I already hired (by the hour!) sat at the house for +2 extra hours with no truck to move boxes and furniture into. Our family's move was more expensive and MUCH more stressful because of this location’s total lack of organization and care. Never again. ZERO stars.

Horrible, horrible customer service. Spoke with agent to see about booking for longer term. Agent confirmed with manager, the it was ok. Was told to call when ready. Called few weeks later, and then given runaround from agent to agent. All claiming they knew nothing, and claiming not possible to lease vehicle for time period. Completely unreliable. Just wasted my time, and now made situation difficult.

Booked my truck for 10: 30. Arrived and there was a line out the door. Everyone had been waiting 45 mins or more. I ended up waiting over an hour to get my truck, which was not actually the truck I had reserved, it was reserved for someone at 1 pm. They had already given out my truck to someone else and this was a continuation of that cycle. What a joke, and waste of my time. The guys that were working were actually very nice and helpful, but whoever is scheduling the trucks with 0 room for error / time overruns is a silly goose! Don't bother

So far not very good. When the pictures came into my e-mail of how the trailer was supposed to look they were all wrong and didn't show all the damage on the trailer. Then my pictures would not download. Had to go back to the store and a person put little stickers by the damage. Hope the stickers stay on! Good thing my phone saved all the pics. Johnson's.

Used the 24/7 check in feature. The truck was there but didn't have the dollies we ordered. Since this was before the store opened, had to wait until we could flag someone down and get the dollies, 30 minute delay at this point. Trying to exit the parking, there were other trucks parked blocking the only way out. Staff eventually came to move them out of the way but this was another 20 minutes of the reservation wasted. Manager was extremely rude about the situation. Also the trucks are parallel parked very close together making it very difficult to get out of the parking space. Also wasn't the location I made my original booking at but they tell you a couple days before which one you have to use, essentially doubling the distance I had to pay for. Overall terrible experience. Will not be renting from U-Haul again and will be cautioning others not to as well.

I was very disappointed with my experience submitting a claim through Sedgwick (claims administrator for Chubb Insurance Company) for my damaged furniture in September of 2020. The administrator has stopped responding to my inquiries, and I have lost all hope that I will ever get the opportunity to complete my claims process. This experience has damaged my trust for u-Haul and the insurance policies that they offer. I would strongly suggest that anyone who is forced into using this company due to the severe lack of alternative options for cross-country moves DO NOT purchase the additional protection insurance. As all of your items will arrive broken and no one will assume responsibility.

I ordered a truck with a 15 foot box.

What I got was a truck with a 12 foot box and a 3 foot extention that hangs over the cab with a 300 pound load limit; not exactly what I needed. (American truck with a spedometer in miles/hour and a secondary calibration in Km/hour that was barely legible)

The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There codvid protocols for renting, picking up and returning vehicles is very 'smart phone' dependent.

I honestly didn't know whether to give five stars or not. The people that work here are absolutely wonderful. The lady at the front desk was friendly and efficient and got people in and out. But, the one man outside was run off his feet. Supposedly they did schedule two but one was stuck in The Hitch shop.
At -18 supposedly rental trucks wouldn't start so he had way more work to do than normal.
So to management I say you need more people Saturday mornings.

Showed up to grab my truck. Found it, did the full walk around, took the pictures, let it warm up, pulled out of the parking space, was about to leave, and got stopped. "that's not your truck, get out, get into this other one". Same style of truck, just a different unit number. Took forever to get that one out because of the crowded lot. Ended up dropping the truck off late because of this delay.

When renting a vehicle from this company one of the first things you should check is to make sure the vehicle they are giving you has been fitted with proper tires. Bad experience.

Ordered a dollie for our move and it wasnt in the truck.
Employees followed up with us twice to confirm the time, yet, the reservation was still handled incorrectly.
Took weeks of fighting to get a refund for something we didn't get.

If you use U-Haul; take pictures, document everything - from what you got at the beginning of the trip to the end when you return, it's in their policy that you cannot dispute charges after the return is completed. Renter beware.

You'll thank me later.

Do not trust your confirmation!

Booked a vehicle. Got confirmation. Spoke to an agent on the phone. Went to pickup vehicle at 10pm as per the confirmation.no vehicle was prepared for me. I was not contacted to inform me that a vehicle had not been prepared.

The 24/7 branch manager that I was directed to call did not pick up her phone. Spent an hour on the phone with the general Uhaul number. Complete waste of time.

2 stars because vehicles on the lot did look clean from the outside.

It's an okay place to rent a moving truck, but the service here was super slow, had to wait in line for about 20-30 minutes. There were plenty of workers there, but only one was actually helping customers. Plus the truck I got was nearly empty on gas and so beaten up, makes you wonder if they ever even service their own vehicles.

Rude customer service they do not offer you help if you’re having issues, drove 3 hours to pick up stuff in pods.our keys fell out of husbands pocket along the way for the pod locks, they wouldn’t help cut our locks and made us call a lock smith! This is how you treat loyal customers? Never again! This place has terrible customer service skills! Seemed there was a lot of people complaining at the same time as us! Funny one of your staff advised us you had bolt cutters but the manager refused to help!

This is my 3rd or 4th time renting here. Excellent service and help. The guys on the lot are phenomenal. They are professional, helpful, efficient and eager. Always excellent experience.

Dont deal with them. This is the worst rental agency. Website will show you different and they say different.
Trucks are available on the website. But they said they don’t have it.
Website says different price per km. And these people have different prices for the weekend. I am wondering, how come this type of company is still in business. Total fraud

Worst service ever. I have used this location 3 times and every time it has been a bad experience. They do not care about your time and this time they just dumped my reservation. I had to scramble to get a truck from someone else. I have been on hold for 30 mins just to cancel so far. Dont go to this location.

Apparently $140/mo for a tiny storage unit isn't enough. After 6 months they decide to enforce some arbitrary policy and lock me out of my unit until I pay them for a particular padlock. Not cool. Also expect to waste alot of time waiting in line to talk to someone. Maple leaf is cheaper, peace.

I’m certain this company doesn’t understand what a reservation is. Changed my reservation twice. When we show up, there’s no truck. The clerk tells us to go get a coffee. Sweet that’ll get my stuff moved. Bush league. If there was a way to make moving more stressful this location has a simple strategy: take your reservation, take all reservations and blame online for taking your reservation. Thanks for nothing, you guys are the worst!

Was one person inline when I got there I waited an hour to be helped. Then waited another 30 to talk to a manager because I was being over charged. When they say 19.95 a day it’s more like 90. I don’t get it. Horrible serivce. Ladies who run it are so slow and would kill them to smile at ya.

. I booked a trailer 5 days ago, went to pick it up today and there are non left. Closest location they could transfer to is 25 min away. Called that location to make sure my reservation was transferred and it wasnt. No surprise uhaul has such terrible reviews. The "assistant manager" was completely useless, and did nothing to try and make the situation better, just a good ol "well this stuff happens". BRUTAL customer service and completely unreliable company.

This experience was a nightmare.

To start off, we spent 30 minutes filling out forms with an employee so we could pick up our rental, only to find out at the very end that we could not rent it because we owed a mere $18 (that we were never notified about). We called and paid over the phone. The phone representative was helpful but mentioned multiple times that his computer was very slow which was frustrating for everyone.

Then we went back inside to fill out the forms for a second time (we also had to wait in line again). Another 30 minutes later we get the same notification that we've been flagged. The employee did not know what to do and we had to wait for a more knowledgeable employee to get off his break so he could resolve the issue.

When we got our rental, the milage and gas numbers were wrong on the vehicle, setting us back even further. I had to go running across the parking lot to tell someone as the man who was helping us walked off after telling us to check everything. We didn't end up leaving with our rental until over an hour after our appointment time (plus, the additional delays from after our forms were filled out the second time cut into our retail time, so we didn't get the full 4 hours we were alloted).

We were told to do an after hours drop off and had to set up an online account, which was a mild inconvenience. The website was glitchy and confusing and I had to call a representative to figure it out.

Then, to top it all off, when we went to go drop off our rental, there was a parking ticket on our car for unauthorized parking on private property. This is despite the fact that we had not been notified by any of the many employees we dealt with (employees who knew we were doing an after hours drop off) that we would not be permitted to park in the U Haul parking lot after hours, and also despite the fact that there were no signs (that we could find, let alone signs that were sensibly placed and clearly visible) prohibiting parking after hours. Had we shown up later or had the ticket been given sooner, our car likely would have been towed and we would have had no way to get home. I'm am thankful that we were lucky enough not to get stranded, but now we are stuck with a ticket that could have been avoided if not for the lack of clear signage/lack of staff due diligence.

We had a very negative experience and have decided to no longer use U Haul's services (so long as we can avoid it) as a result, as we have had problems both times we have been patrons. We plan to tell others about our bad experiences with U Haul as well and explicitly not recommend U Haul to them. Very dissatisfied.

This place will rip you off. We had an appointment for 8am - the truck wasn't ready until 10am - when we returned the truck they charged us for the 2 hours we waited for the truck. Once they have your credit card - they will charge what they want. Do not do business with these people. Make the drive and go somewhere else.

Had to wait for over 45 mins, staff Maria said the manager needed to assist us for supplies purchase pricing issue. She then wandered off for a break and upon returning, directed another customer to shove me out of the way without warning me so the customer from another till could use the debit machine. Had to call corporate while in the store to even get the manager to come talk to us after waiting over 45 mins. After all that, a U-Haul guy blocked our car in and just walked away when we asked him to move. Good thing Storage Mart sells moving supplies! Never got a call back from district manager like corporate said I would either. Don't recommend unless you like bad service and being assaulted/shoved.

Not happy with the uBox experience. The company has a big internal miscommunication. I have sent a uBox from SK to Calgary. The Calgary UHaul location did not respected the original confirmed schedule about dropping and pick-up of the uBox from the front of my house. The uHaul on call representative said to me that the original schedule was done by HQ California and they don’t need to respect that. In the end they said the uHaul driver will call you in the day when he will come to pick-up the empty uBox from front of your house. It looks like there is a huge internal miscommunication that they need to fix. They gave me the impression they are a local moving company not an international one.

This location is EXTREMELY busy. Be prepared to wait an hour to an hour and a half. My boyfriend and i had our reservation for 9: 30, and we were there around 9: 15. We did not leave in the truck until 10: 45. The customer service in this location i could see being hit or miss, but our experience was good. The yard attendants we dealt with were friendly, and the customer service rep we dealt with was also friendly.the downfall of being SO late with picking up the truck was my building elevator was booked for 10AM, so we were around an hour behind. Luckily, there wasn’t anyone else moving that day, but if there was, i would have missed my elevator slot and would have been SOL. If i could do it over, i would have booked my reservation at a smaller dealer or Blackfoot location simply for the wait.

This places is the biggest joke, 24 hour access to storage units but you get blocked into the parking lot because of people who return the trucks, this place cant keep their place in order clearly. They have no sense of organization for parking their rental trucks, they dont care about their customers. Their rude, they dont keep track of who is renting what storage unit or have anybody on file, you ask for help and wait an hour for anybody to even notice you. They dont even deserve one star. They wont ever get my business again.

I've never had a worse customer service experience in my life. Don't believe a single thing any of the employees tell you they will do unless they do it in front of you. Was told they would call me back multiple times when I called about issues and didn't receive a single call back ever.

Very slow and very unprofessional. Unfortunately, Uhaul is the only company in town offering this kind of service. Is very clear tha they know they can get away with being unprofessional as many people depend on their services. The actual truck was good, and provided plenty of room. They need to to provide their employees training to improve their customer service skills. This issues Is not only at a store level. I contacted their actual customer service line to find out that they didn't have any interest to listen, caring or understanding my concerns.

Terrible, ended up hiring movers. Was shocked to know that my reservation was not guaranteed and was told I could not rent the end of the month for 4 days. Cancelled reservation and hired movers. Best decision.

Oh! My! Goooodddd! Ok.if you dont want to pay people cause of some lies the big company has told you then just close the store! Its the end of the month! People are moving and you all decide to have a skeleton crew working! This is the worst location! The staff are nice but not well equipped for the system they are using. I will never use this location again! And for the love of all that is good in the world! Have enough people working so we can all get on with the day!

Worst customer service in the city. They did not meet my rental guarantee they told me they didn’t have a truck for me even though I reserved it called head office they said that they do have a truck for me so I had to pass this info on to the lady so she could stop telling they didn’t have a truck for me the lady at the front desk was being very rude about and didn’t seem to care and the sad part is she was training someone at the time. They also forgot my dolly and furniture pads so I had to go back to get them and once again it was like it was my fault that they didn’t put them In the truck. Look other places before reserving here

Never answer the phone they put all the customers on hold. I was in the office the other day seen them answer everyone's phone call tell them to wait on hold then speak with another co-worker and tell him I don't want to answer the phone calls today

Yes this place has a great selection of packing materials, boxes, tape yadda yadda. Apparently they also rent trucks, vans trailers, car caddies, dollys and anti-skuff mats. Who knew! (kidding)
