Prices are priced as new prices not used. This is ridiculous the items have holes or broken and they still want people to pay as if the items are new. I will never step foot in this store again. I thought I could save some money on some items I needed but they want a ridiculous price for them. I went to Walmart and got what I needed for a better price for new items I saved money buy going elsewhere how ridiculous. Never again. They don't even deserve one star.
Over priced. The store is an Absolute MESS. I have been thrifting for over 45 years before it was all the rage. Red Deer Store in particular is the worst! Lots of Junk
Popped in as I regularly do to look for some treasures, and after a few isles I started noticing a trend…Many if not most clients were trying on items right in the isles (strange right?). I didn’t even think much of it until I witnessed the worst thing…. A woman had her school age daughter stripped right down to her undies to make sure the clothing fit her. When the woman noticed me look over she screamed at me “Can you believe they took the change rooms away! ” I immediately offered to help make a change space for the young girl with my cart and a jacket I intended to purchase as I was NOT ok standing by a nearly naked child in Red Deer and doing nothing to help the situation. Staff told me the store shrinkage is high the change rooms were losing them too much money so they took them away (that’s poor change room management). I was also told not to worry because the items I was going to purchase would have an allotted amount of days to return for an in store credit… I have zero interest in a Value Village credit! I did the best I could to put all my items away where I found them as I made the decision to stop supporting this corporation as soon as I came upon the child.
I have always brought my clothing donations to this VV as I am a HUGE fan of the amount of people they employ in my community (even with the implementation of the awful self checkout machines) …. I will no longer support VV in any way…
On occasion you can find a good deal, which is why most of us shop there, but the past few months I have noticed a huge increase in their pricing, to over that of new items. Yes, I get that some people buy here to resell at a profit, but I think most really need value priced items - something nicer than discount store clothing or furnishings. They ARE all donated after all.
Everything they sell is brand new and amazing. I've even seen stuff for sale here that is more expensive than Walmart is brand new for the used version here. Good business thinking. Way to go! When I was there tonight I found Cheezies in the chips, candy in the cupboards, and stains in the shorts of many ugly different sorts! Not all the things you might want, but a start at some if you go to haunts. It's such a blast, always coming in last. Value Village is the place for me.
I no longer shop there. You can get brand new clothes at Wal Mart for the same price. There is a really great thrift store in Lacombe that has good quality clean merchandise. They have a room to try on clothes. Their clothing fits and is sized properly. All the other merchandise they put out is clean and in working order. Their profits go to helping kids with learning disorders. Their prices are reasonable for used items. I don't work for them, But I sure like the atmosphere.
Prices are getting ridiculous. This is not a thrift or store for the poor any longer. Check prices between here and Salvation Army Thrift just down the street. Where is all the money actually going? Definitely not as billed.
Won't exchange items that clearly didn't work, within days of purchase, only to make you donate it back to them for a coupon for your next purchase. Nice cash grab. AVOID THIS FOR PROFIT COMPANY IF POSSIBLE. They continue to get worse and worse as time goes on.
I hadn't been in for awhile because of Covid. I wanted to see if they had any Jeans, but I couldn't see any change rooms. I changed my mind because I live out of town and if they didn't fit, I would have to drive all the way back in. You should really have change rooms, Regular stores have their rooms open. Also I noticed the prices on things have gone way up. No Bargin to had here. What a shame.
Decent selection, convenient to drop off donations. However prices seem to be rising by the day, hard to turn to second-hand when you’re tight on cash and the prices can’t stop won’t stop rising.
Would be a great thrift shop experience, but as I can't try on the clothing a lot of the shopping is pointless. Returning the clothing that doesn't fit for credit seems a poor solution. Bring back the change rooms!
My wife just started hunting and for $40.00 she found a Realtree jacket and Realtree snowpants that matched. We love seeing what this store has in stock.
This store is very clean and well organized. I spotted a number of name brand items such as Nike and GAP which were very reasonably priced. Example, a men's lambs wool knit sweater by GAP for $12.99. I would evaluate that item as very good condition. However when looking at men's down filled jackets one would have to wonder where the feathers have flown off to.
Found two undershirts there yesterday that were both in brand new condition. They were the same name brand and colour. The only difference was the size and price. I asked the store associate if they can sell the smaller undershirt for the same price since it's the same item.
She said no and lied straight to my face and told me the bigger one was in worse condition that's why it was priced less. They were both brand new and in perfect condition. What a dishonest experience for sure. My donations will go to a different company from now on.
It use to be good but now its expensive for a second hand store prices were better at walmart second hand t-shirts for 15$ lol it's a greedy rip off used Jean's with damage for 20 to 25$ lol I will not be returning there
Says you have 14 days to return stuff when you buy it, but when you go to return it they won't allow you to because all of a sudden they don't take returns any more.
I just had this experience today where I found a pair of lulu leggings (in vguc) that was marked for $6.49, thinking it was a good deal, I decided to purchase it. I got to the cashier and she wasn't convinced that it was indeed $6.49. She then had asked for MOD - MOD changed the price to $17.49 and I'm like "really? " I've had lulu items that I purchased at the same time as this pants and it was marked as $10.49.
The idea of thrifting is to find a good deal and they just took that away. NOT HAPPY (considering I donate a lot to them)
Always a good experience. I have had to sign up for their rewards system everytime I have been there because it never gets saved somehow but meh its not a big deal.
So 15 minutes before close, 2 tills open, huge line, manager thought it would be a good idea to send one of the two cashiers for their break! Lmao we've been in line for 25 minutes
Love this place always great deals and I keep coming back because of a few outstanding staff members my favorite is Vikki who I think should be promoted to highest level of management and an exceptional raise in pay she goes above and beyond with patience and grace she is truly one of a kind. Next is Robert who has a million dollar smile and a great attitude toward difficult customers lol I love them both, there are a few not so great employees (who I will not name) but that happens in every business. Totally worth stopping by and checking it out. I guarantee you won't leave empty handed
For a non profit company who works on donations they price items way over prices for people when they should be passing on donated items at value prices it is no wonder why the managers drive expensive vehicles
Lots of great stuff here and organized pretty good compared to their other stores which is amazing, always had a good experience and I almost always find what I need also prices are much but than most other stores
