Okay first off I am a frugal person and one of my little life pleasures was going to Value Village once a month to see what little treasures I can find. As the world of business is changing I will not be returning to this location and I imagine others. Pricing on clothing has doubled and then some, there are no change rooms to make sure anything fits, all check outs are now self check out, all returns can only be exchanged for more goods and concerns fall on deaf ears. There are other second hand stores that still have change rooms, decent prices, cashiers and human interaction. Support these alternative stores and let them know you appreciate their way of doing business.

Prices are ridiculously high for donated items AND customers have to use self serve checkouts. So VV jacks up prices and reduces staff. What a win in profits for VV.

*edit.aaaand I'm walking out with nothing, there's a first.
I love this location, but I am very disappointed that you got rid of your fitting rooms yet are not offering full refunds? Come on, exchange only? That is not fair. I would typically try on about 30 items and purchase 5. I guess your sales are going to drop if I can only buy what I suspect for sure will fit. I won't take any chances on an item like I used, when I could try something on. So I will purchase less for sure. Disappointed in you VV.

This place was very large. Decently clean but the staff hired to go through the products and sell them need to raise their standards. Sooo many items were ripped or holes and dolls purchased for my child were missing hands and broken. I did my best to look in bags I was buying but some missed. They should be doing better at going through their products they are selling.

Waaaaay too overpriced! I saw 2 identical shirts; one was $6.99 and the other was $17.99! When I brought this up to management, they were speechless. What a scam!

I always find some cool things when I go, Parking is usually a bit cramped but aside that going here as always been worth the trip for me.

If people can’t try on clothes, you should allow refunds. Brought a bag of clothes to donate, got a 20% off coupon. Bought $80 worth of clothes for my daughter and one item for $9.99 didn’t fit. They said no refunds, only exchanges, so pick out an item of equal or greater value. Ok fine. Found something I didn’t really need for $8.49, and they say I owe them $0.33, because I used a coupon on the original purchase. But the coupon is only good for up to $50 worth of clothes and I bought $80 worth. Seriously?

Very little quality selection. Couldn't find anything. I realize this is value village but goodwill is the better option for quality, selection and very similar pricing.
17 August 2021 23:48
OMG! First of all, TWENTY cents for a paper shopping bag? Incredible! Then no change rooms and you can’t return items for a refund only an exchange? Worst store policy ever. I will NEVER donate or shop here again! AVOID THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY FOREVER!

WHAT A SCAM!

Removal of change rooms seems like just a way to take money from people, if people cant try on used cloths, they should be given their money back for things that dont fit not forced to exchange only! Even a credit note would be acceptable - seems like they have just found away to take advantage of people and use covid as an excuse

Been shopping around today the city and enjoying the AC everywhere since it's plus 30. Walk into the Value Village and it's almost like warm and having trouble cooling down in this store. Head over to the Goodwill and nice and cool again.

I exoected a better selection considering its ST. Albert but it's probably not their fault. Was just disappointed to drive the extra out of the way drive to them and I didn't buy anything from there
29 June 2021 8:35
Completely blown away by the prices, there absolutely astonishing. A recycled old dress? $15-$18. Brand new one at Walmart? $15. Why would I have any reason to buy used when I can buy new for literately the same price and cheaper. Not to mention the washrooms were dirty and gross. Covid is alright, store is packed with people and no one is going the right way.
Very very disappointed, better to goto Walmart.

Prices are to high. Everything is donated. Staff needs to learn how to price items. Stop putting broken items out for sale. Either fix them or put them in the garbage
26 April 2021 9:30
I witnessed a lady named Angie bad mouth a customer to a cashier once they left. Didn't think too much of it other than how inappropriate it was. Then months later now she is doing the same thing. Maybe she thinks nobody knows what she's saying but people can hear it and it's a bad atmosphere not impressed at this point.
10 April 2021 21:01
Management is horrible staff are never treated fairly, prices are always going up and the staff is always pushed to put everything out at the highest price possible, and SO many donations are thrown in the garbage upon instruction.

Busy with antique and collectible Pickers today. Inventory is heavily picked over. Social distancing rules are not being observed by the shoppers. Workers are doing their best though.

The St. Albert Value Village is honestly the best one near/ in Edmonton. They have an awesome selection of plus size clothing & nice home decor finds. The only recommendation I have would be to add additional changing rooms because they can get quite busy. Overall though my friends & I love this thrift shop (it’s our number one stop when we are having thrift days).
16 September 2019 21:22
Easy to get too.seniors day is busy, but they have get costumes for Halloween & items I would not find in the ones I go to in my area in Ontario.western eg.cowboy boot.spurs.lol
13 September 2019 9:26
Awesome shopping experience. The selection of merchandise is grest and the stuff friendly and prompt.
07 September 2019 4:56
Way too expensive for clothes. They are given to you free and you still want too much zi bought cheaper at Mark Wearhouse GIAnt Tiger and Walmart also the BAY. YOU SRE NOT HELPING THE NEEDY.
04 September 2019 11:34
What can I say. An American owner company FOR PROFIT. They even sell their tags to 3rd world countries. I have been here but don't like to buy from here. I'd rather support Canadian ventures in this industry
03 September 2019 16:57
This place has been great for finding that thing we always need for a cosplay or just for fun. Great selection if items and the store us always well kept.
01 September 2019 17:16
Definately one of the best selections, staff is usually pretty great. Best location for Halloween hands down
23 August 2019 4:20
Love shopping here. Great deals on toys, books, and anything else. Prices aren't always realistic on some items but there are deals to be had here regardless.
01 August 2019 9:52
This place has amazing staff! Kind and helpful, and the selection and quality of items beats other locations by far.
31 July 2019 12:39
The most pathetic men's section I have ever seen 98% of the whole store is womens and mens is a small corner of the store and like a rack and a half for shoes dumb
29 July 2019 12:18
Often a big selection on surprisingly good quality items at an even better price! Staff has also always been nice and helpful. Even though I've moved from St. Albert I still make the trip from Edmonton to see what they have.
29 July 2019 7:00
Although there is a wide variety at this location, it appears that the prices have gone up over the past six months. I would hope the extra dollars go directly to charity verses the Employers/Owners pockets. Furthermore, can someone sweep the floors? They are disgusting.
26 July 2019 18:24
When did prices get so high? Second hand things for the same price as new sale? Maybe it was just picked over in my size.
02 July 2019 23:11
Va-lue vill-agè

Less they have validity
Just do it right

27 June 2019 19:55
The staff are very rude and racist. She treated the white customer in front of me Soo but nicely when it was my turn she was very rude. She pretended like she didn't see me standing in line and call someone else you check in. Am pretty sure it's because am black
26 June 2019 14:11
We live out of town and requested to buy a kitchen table with chairs but pick up first thing in the am and was told no. I do understand this is not a storage place but could have been a tad more accommodating is all
25 June 2019 23:12
Not very good prices. I had check the prices of clothes brand new and they had the same price and sometimes even more expensive.
25 June 2019 9:41
Hit and miss. Overall things are WAY overpriced and the store is a bit dirty. Saw Dollarama stuff priced above new.lol.
12 June 2019 1:01
I have a problem with the company. They claim it is for non profit charities in the area. Which ones? They say all the merchandise is purchased from local charities to be sold to help in poor countries. Which ones? I see people dropping items hourly. It is a registered charity, registered non-profit or a Limited business (ie for profit) ? The company is mum about their business practices. A well written article appeared in the St Albert gazette about the dark side. Don't be fooled when dropping off valuables for a do good feeling. Who owns the business? Where does the money go? And finally the prices are often higher than wholesale which means that if you look hard enough you can find a new equivalent for a better price. They seem to prey on the poor not help them as we would have all hoped.

Ever notice how bad the store smells? Is any of the used clothing clean or laundered?

On my last visit there was no employee supervision and a bully in the "donations" charity area was smashing items which there was a laughing in chorus with each destructive event. For some reason the electronics all show physical damage and rarely work with "no return" stickers. Alberta Law gives protection of seven days to reconsider a purchase any purchase.
11 June 2019 1:21
Prices here are quite expensive for used clothes, salvation army would be a better option for used clothing.
30 May 2019 15:55
Omg value village st Albert I think has the most (good) stuff I've seen anywhere. I still think they are getting overpriced but besides that spent 2 hours there and didnt even get to half the store.shopping with 3month old twins is harder than it looks Haha
28 May 2019 4:01
Always so busy and most of the tills were closed as always. They did finally get someone to open up some more tills. I gotta say though they have definitely stepped up with there organization. Also their prices seem alot more fair for a second hand store. Manager seemed very nice and very willing to help.
13 May 2019 9:22
It is a very busy place and parking can be a challenge. However, it is a terrific place to get reasonably-priced clothing and household items.
05 May 2019 22:44
Prices are getting ridiculous! I had stumble upon an item which they priced higher than the actual price.
06 April 2019 13:36
I'd be lying if I told you this place is reasonably priced and caters to low income individuals/ families. Ha NOT EVEN REMOTELY! I thought value village was "a non profit organization" but after my quick stop today me and my theories were set str8.
If your poor like me bring an unwanted clothing or house hold item to donate and by the good grace of God you shall receive 30% off your bill.
13 March 2019 15:11
I've had both good and not so good experiences at Value Village. Good include great customer service and assistance. Finding personal treasures and great finds. On the flip side of that I have had a few times with not so good customer service. It all depends on the person and day.
